The Twelve Trees of Christmas is about Cheri Jamison (Lindy Booth), a librarian who rallies the residents of her beloved Manhattan neighborhood to participate in a Christmas tree contest when the cherished local library is abruptly set for demolition. Cheri finds herself up against an ambitious developer Tony Shaughnessy (Robin Dunne) who has plans to demolish the library to redevelop the neighborhood, and build a brand new, bland structure. Cheri argues that libraries are more than just a building they are the cornerstones of neighborhood, creating a special place where the modern world is left behind so that books, art and music can be read and appreciated.
When she realizes that the developer is unmoved by her protests, Cheri targets Rosaleen Shaughnessy, the head of the foundation that owns the library building. The widow of the man who built the neighborhood in the 1950s, Rosaleen loves the building and the community but is under the sway of her grandson who is urging her to sell. Cheri comes up with the idea of a tree decorating competition to bring the neighborhood together to save the library and to convince Rosaleen not to let her grandson sell the library. However, Tony is on to Cheri’s plans, signs up for a tree and hires Cordelia (Melanie Brown), a famous designer, to decorate his tree so he can win the competition and his grandmother will still agree to sell the library.

This sounds like a good movie. Just interests me. I'm going to check this one out.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really good movie. I love Lindy Booth and loved her in Christmas Magic, which was a wonderful movie and one of my favorites. thank you for all the wonderful Christmas and movie info. I stumbled across your page while looking for information on Christmas in July and have been hooked ever since.
ReplyDeleteI've been following the career of one the writers (Kevin Commins) . He has co-written movies for the Hallmark Channel as well, i.e.: Lucky Dog, The Santa Suit. His movies are family friendly with a touch of romance with bit of comedy sprinkled in. Very nice heart warming stories.
ReplyDeleteWho sang the song Noel in t he movie? Really nice movie and songs.
ReplyDeleteI think Carrie Underwood
DeleteThis was a great movie. Can someone tell me who played the Dark Haired Woman that was the Head Librarian
ReplyDeleteI think it is Joann Going from Still Breathing. If you age her from that movie, the librarian is a dead ringer for her.
DeleteThis movie, in my personal opionion, has been one of the best holiday flicks this season. As a book lover, I had an innate interest in the plot. Additionally, I think Lindy Booth is a delightful and charming young actress.
ReplyDeleteI was actually a little surprised this heartwarming treat was a 'Lifetime' movie. It felt more like a family-friendly Hallmark Channel romance.
I highly recommend it.
I too want to know who the dark haird librarian was. She seemed very familiar. This movie was incredibly heartwarming. I actully found myself shedding a tear or two when the children lined up in the shape of a Christmas tree and the young lady sang the Christmas Carol.
ReplyDeleteI thought this movie was slow and boring!
ReplyDeleteWhy were there so many people in the Christmas Tree Contest who actually couldn't win the contest? And, why only 12 trees? At least 2 of them were taken by library employees.
And, then the tree with the children, although sweet, it wasn't truly a tree. They were just sitting in a bleachers in the shape of a tree. Whatever.
Then the turn around at the end was fairly quick and drastic.
No cussing or inappropriate content, which was nice for Lifetime, but still not good, either.
the best christmas movie there is! just wish i could find out when it will play this season...
ReplyDeleteWhat was the name of the song the kids had singed at the end?
ReplyDeleteI am looking to want to purchase this movie but cant find it any where. Anyone know where I can buy it in canada
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm not sure about the availability of this movie on DVD in Canada, but I hope you'll be able to locate it.
DeleteI loved this 1! Plus, I love going to my own local library. -Maria
