The main subjects of both NEW Hallmark movies this weekend are certainly appealing themes this time of year... baseball and Spring break! Of course, there isn't any sport as Americana as baseball. And there's nothing quite like a little time off for a relaxing week of Spring break... breaking free of the day-to-day work routine. Will the NEW movies this weekend be as appealing as these themes? Well, that is yet to be seen.

Storyline: Hazel Miller (Cahill) is a top publicist in New York City looking to build her empire. Diego Vasquez (Grazzini) is a top MLB pitcher who froze during Game 7 of the World Series. He also happens to be the guy who shattered Hazel’s heart in high school. When Hazel is tasked with spinning Diego’s image, it might be her biggest challenge professionally, and personally, as she takes him back to their hometown in Ohio to deal with what they've both left behind.

Storyline: Single mother Monica Rollins excitedly waits for her daughter, Vivian, to come home for spring break, their annual tradition. Days before, after years of tireless dedication to her job, Monica is unceremoniously fired. To make matters worse, Monica is dealt with a second blow when Vivian announces her surprise engagement to Shawn, someone Monica didn't even know existed and travels to The Gulf Shores for the engagement celebration. En route, she meets Clark Randall, who also happens to be Shawn’s godfather, at the airport and an unexpected flirtation ignites.

"Wedding Cake Dreams" is a feel-good, family-friendly movie for all ages. At times, the lead girl, Carrie Watson (who is a professional chemist), acts somewhat silly around a guy she likes, and you want to tell her, “Hey girl, pull yourself together,” but I suppose that’s part of the comedy charm of it. Plus, he is rather swoon-worthy.
I loved Carrie’s endearing relationship with her parents and her little sister, Lydia, who is the bride-to-be. Lydia lacks confidence, at times, and it’s nice to see her turn to her sister for advice. There’s one family scene in particular that especially warmed my heart. Carrie’s father walks over to her in the kitchen as she is baking wedding cakes; he proudly looks at his grown-up daughter, calls her by her nickname, ladybug, and says how having her home reminds him of when he had all of his birdies in the nest. I nearly burst out crying. It’s refreshing to see how much, as a family, they all deeply care for one another.
There are no fake relationships, and I don’t want to give too much away, but someone does pretend to be someone else at one point, which causes two characters to keep secrets.
This movie has three main actors you may recognize from previous TV movies, including Donna Benedicto (Love in the Forecast, Farmer Seeking Love), Markian Tarasiuk (Welcome to Valentine, Christmas Jars), and Preston Vanderslice (Mystery 101, The Engagement Back-Up).
All in all, “Wedding Cake Dreams” is a delightful, wholesome, lighthearted rom-com. ~Net
"Sullivan's Crossing" comes to U.S.:
First of all, for those of you who are not familiar, "Sullivan's Crossing" is a television drama based on Robyn Carr's bestselling 5-novel series - starring Morgan Kohan (When Hope Calls), Chad Michael Murray (Angel Falls Christmas) and Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls). This is the basic storyline via IMDB: "Neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, reconnects with her small-town past after a scandal causes her to leave her professional and personal life behind in the city."
The series first premiered in Canada, and now it will debut this fall on the CW network in the U.S. For all of you wondering if this series is for family viewing, the answer is, unfortunately, no. This is not a series recommended for young viewers. I've sought out information from those who have watched in Canada, and I've received these anonymous responses:
"I would say this series is not for children due to adult situations and sexual innuendo." ~Anonymous
"Definitely not kid friendly compared to When Hope Calls or When Calls the Heart where Morgan was in! There is Alcohol use over different episodes, Sully Scott's character is a recovering alcoholic, drinking-partying, someone gets injured by a gun, sexual scenes that not too much in depth but do lead to someone's imagination to what happens, etc." ~Anonymous

I just wanted to inform you all of what I have learned. My family and I will be skipping this one, but many adults have told me how much they enjoy the heart and emotion in each episode. "Sullivan's Crossing" is rated TV-PG.

She's currently filming promo spots for the DISH Network for Great American Family's Christmas in July event. The promos will air in June and July. I don't often share too many pictures of actors filming Christmas movies these days because there are just too many out there, but I couldn't resist sharing a couple today that the Queen of Christmas, Candace Cameron Bure, shared recently on Instagram. Even though she's busy at work currently filming "My Christmas Hero" for Great American Family, she still took the time to encourage her followers with their Bible reading (she's currently in 1 Chronicles) and with their fitness routine.
She also posted these fun images on-the-set:
In case you are wondering, that is not Candace's costar in the movie. That is photographer Ricardo Hubbs, who has captured images for all sorts of Hallmark movies and series, including Chesapeake Shores, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, and many more.

Regarding the new movies airing this weekend, some of us have been wondering if there might be some woke content in the new movie, Hearts in the Game. Until we know for sure, we can't judge a book by its cover... so hopefully, it will be family-friendly after all. We'll see.
