New Expanded Programming Event Gets Viewers Ready for the Biggest Holiday Stunt on Television, Freeform's '25 Days of Christmas'

As the Halloween season comes to a close, Freeform will continue to be the home for all holiday programming as the brand-new "Kickoff To Christmas" programming event starts on NOV. 1. Adding a month full of holiday fun, the programming event will also include the premiere of the Freeform original film "The Truth About Christmas," from MarVista Entertainment, airing SUNDAY, NOV. 25 at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST/PST.

In "The Truth About Christmas," Kali Hawk ("New Girl") stars as Jillian, a successful political consultant confident in her ability to put a spin on anything, whose next big project is the upcoming mayoral campaign for her boyfriend George (Damon Dayoub, Freeform's "Stitchers"). On the way to meet George's family for the first time during the holidays, an unusual confrontation with a toy store Santa results in a drastic change in Jillian where she can't stop herself from wildly spilling the truth. Ali Ghandour (Freeform's "Alone Together") co-stars as George's brother Blake, who believes you should always be true to yourself but thinks Jillian just might be losing it. ----- END of Press Release -----

I hope you enjoyed seeing this press release from Freeform promoting their November Holiday slate for 2018. As I mentioned above, not all films listed here are family-friendly or endorsed by It's a Wonderful Movie. Please always check ratings before viewing. At this time, I do not know what the new Freeform Original Film Premiere, "The Truth About Christmas," will be rated.

It is, however, fun to see in this Freeform "Kick Off to Christmas" many delightful Christmas movies, such as: "The Santa Clause," "I'll Be Home for Christmas" (1998), "Snow," "12 Dates of Christmas," "Christmas with the Kranks," and others!

Like many of you, I search each and every year for "The Christmas List" (aka: The Perfume Lady, with Mimi Rogers) and "Christmas Everyday" (Erik Von Detten). I guess we'll have to wait and see if they make Freeform's December schedule! Still hoping!

Since AMC has acquired rights to many of Freeform's past typical holiday features, like "Elf," "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," and "Polar Express"... plus some of the Rankin Bass classic cartoons, Freeform will surely look different this year for their annual "25 Days of Christmas," which is yet to be revealed! To be continued....!

Have a Merry, Joyous Day! Blessings to You All! Net

My thoughts on New Freeform 25 Days of Christmas Movie ‘No Sleep ‘Til Christmas’

image: Freeform

For those of you who visit here often, you know me, I'm always game for a new Christmas movie! It can be silly, sweet, romantic, heartwarming... as long as it is family-friendly, contains good morals and has an uplifting, positive story... I'm all in!

Well, once again, I must share that after reading a synopsis of Freeform's upcoming Christmas movie offering, I have decided I will not be tuning in.

The title of this new Freeform Christmas movie is ‘No Sleep ‘Til Christmas,’ which immediately had me imagining a child who was too excited to sleep before Christmas morning, or perhaps a child who was trying to stay up late at night in an effort to try and catch Santa in the act! Both possibilities sound plausible and cute with this title, but are way off the beaten path when it comes to the true story behind the title.

Here it is...
‘No Sleep ‘Til Christmas’ movie synopsis via TVline.com:
"Lizzie (Odette Annable, "Supergirl") is an event planner preparing for her wedding, who lies awake nightly while her fiancé rests peacefully. When a sleep-deprived incident causes her to run into Billy (Dave Annable, "Brothers and Sisters"), a bartender who is just as sleepless and frustrated as she is, they discover that they can only fall asleep while next to each other."

Freeform is well known for crossing the immoral line when creating their content, so I cannot say this particular story is surprising. I did want to make you all aware, and inform you that I will not be watching or sharing further details on this movie here.

Please let me know what you think in comments below.

Thank you for reading. Blessings, Net

Driven by her love and devotion for her family, Mulan makes a decision that will change their lives forever. Disguising herself as a man, she secretly takes her father's place in the Imperial army that is being gathered to meet the threat of invasion by the villainous Hun leader, Shan-Yu (Miguel Ferrer). (4:10 - 6:20 p.m. EST) DISNEYPIXAR'S BRAVE Merida (Kelly Macdonald) is a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land. When Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos in the kingdom, she must harness all of her skills and resources including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers to undo a beastly curse before it's too late, and discover the meaning of true bravery.

(6:20 - 8:20 p.m. EST) DISNEYPIXAR'S TOY STORY Twenty years after its theatrical release, "Toy Story" is still beloved by millions of fans. Set in a world where toys have a life of their own when people are not present, Disney-Pixar's "Toy Story" takes moviegoers on a fantastic fun-filled journey, viewed mostly through the eyes of two rival toys: Woody (Tom Hanks), a pull-string talking cowboy, and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), a superhero space action figure. The comically mismatched duo eventually learn to put aside their differences when circumstances separate them from their owner, Andy (John Morris), and they find themselves on a hilarious adventure-filled mission where the only way they can survive is to form an uneasy alliance. DisneyPixar's "Toy Story" repeats on Friday, November 25 at 4:10 p.m. EST.

(8:20 - 10:30 p.m. EST) DISNEYPIXAR'S TOY STORY 2 The toys are back in town and ready to play once again in this exciting sequel, picking up as Andy heads off to Cowboy Camp leaving his toys to their own devices. Things shift into high gear when an obsessive toy collector named Al McWhiggin (Wayne Knight), owner of Al's Toy Barn, kidnaps Woody (Tom Hanks). At Al's apartment, Woody discovers that he is a highly valued collectible from a 1950s TV show called "Woody's Roundup," and he meets the other prized toys from that show - Jessie the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), Bullseye the horse and Stinky Pete the Prospector (Kelsey Grammer). Back at the scene of the crime, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and the gang from Andy's room -- Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Slinky Dog (Jim Varney), Rex (Wallace Shawn) and Hamm (John Ratzenberger) -- spring into action to rescue their pal from winding up as a museum piece. The toys get into one predicament after another in their daring race to get Woody home before Andy returns. DisneyPixar's "Toy Story 2" repeats on Friday, November 25 at 6:10 p.m. EST.

(10:30 - 11:00 p.m. EST) DISNEYPIXAR'S TOY STORY OF TERROR! Join Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and their pals in a frighteningly fun animated adventure. What starts out as an exciting road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse following a detour to a roadside motel. After Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles) suddenly disappears, his friends find themselves caught up in a hilarious mystery that must be solved before they suffer the same fate in this thrilling Toy Story! DisneyPixar's "Toy Story of TERROR!" repeats on Friday, November 25 at 8:20 p.m. EST.

(12:00 - 2:00 a.m. EST) DENNIS THE MENACE (1993) Wherever Dennis goes, mayhem follows. And somehow, most of it seems to land in the lap of his long-suffering next-door neighbor, George Wilson (Walter Matthau). Dennis and his backyard exploits are guaranteed to stir up laughter and warm the heart.

Adding to their woes is the new boy in town, Waldo, who's refined, rich and also wooing Darla.

ABC FAMILY’s 2014 Countdown to “25 Days of Christmas” - missing something?

"Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas" on ABC Family airs Sunday, November 23 - Sunday, November 30, 2014.

After looking over the "Christmas" countdown schedule, I realized something very important seems to be missing in ABC FAMILY’s annual Countdown to “25 Days of Christmas” television event. This year it seems to have very little, believe it or not, "CHRISTMAS"!

Typically, during ABC Family's countdown event in November, leading up to the 25 days of Christmas, we could look forward to seeing many Christmas Movies, and maybe a new Christmas Premiere Movie, as well... but not this year.

Movie highlights included during the countdown to the 25 days event are: Finding Nemo, A Cinderella Story, Another Cinderella Story, A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Cars 2, Ratatouille, Mirror Mirror, Brave, Despicable Me, Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas (which is rather creepy and more Halloween-like), Home Alone 3, (which is set in winter, but not Christmas), etc... and finally a true Christmas Movie – National Lampoons Christmas Vacation airs November 29, 2014 at 10PM/9c. (please know: although this will be the edited TV version of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, it will still contain language.)

10 New Christmas Movies

Christmas Movies Currently in the Works for 2012 & Beyond...

-------------
*This POST has been updated from 9, to 10 Christmas Movies - added sequel to 12 Dogs of Christmas below! Plus, the Movie Title : Random Acts has been updated to Random Acts of Christmas.
-------------

I'll list all the Movies below and give you all the details I know about each one, for now.

Home Alone 5:

Update (Oct. 2012) : The Name of this movie is Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. When you see it listed on this site, it will be written as: Home Alone (5): The Holiday Heist.
Image from
Christian Martyn's

According to winnipegfreepress.com, Home Alone 5 will be a Made-for-TV Movie, with a direct-to-DVD release. It will air on ABC Family, during the 25 days of Christmas annual event.

The star of the show, as reported on Talent Inc News, is Christian Martyn, a 12 year old boy.

No news, yet, on additional casting or storyline.

Update: See the Home Alone (5): The Holiday Heist page for more details!

Th original films are: Home Alone, Home Alone 2 : Lost in New York, Home Alone 3, and Home Alone 4 : Taking Back the House.

Can anything top the original? Probably not, but I'm sure this will be a fun film - and a great movie for the family to watch together!

Christmas Heart:

Also, we have more movie information according to winnipegfreepress.com. Christmas Heart is a Made-for-TV Movie - being made for the Hallmark Channel.

Starring in this film will be -
Teri Polo (A Taste of Romance, Straight from the Heart) and
Tess Harper (A Christmas Wish).

One of the Producers of this film is Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond). "The Christmas Heart" was written by Heaton's brother, Michael Heaton.

Plot details via Hallmark Channel Press Release:

In "The Christmas Heart," the tight knit neighbors on Arthur Avenue have proudly been lighting Christmas luminaries for 40 years, but that long-standing tradition is cancelled this year when Matt Norman, a boy in the neighborhood, is hospitalized and desperately needs a heart transplant. A donor is found, and Life Flight quickly gets the heart airborne on Christmas Eve, fighting a winter storm with no time left to lose. The neighborhood lights the luminaries in honor of Matt and his family, and their loving exhibition turns out to be the miracle that saves Matt's life.

Christmas in Connecticut "Re-make":

It is being reported that Jennifer Garner will be re-teaming with her "13 Going on 30" producers for the remake of the 1945 screwball comedy classic, Christmas in Connecticut.

The original storyline (as reported on aceshowbiz.com) revolves around a cooking writer -- the Martha Stewart of her time -- whom the world believes to be living on a cozy farm in Connecticut with her husband and baby. In reality, she's a single woman living on her own in New York. The ruse is discovered when a holiday meal is planned at her fake farm.

After researching this more on-line - I see that there have been on-going plans to re-create this movie since 2007. I am wondering if it is actually going through now or if this is just on-going buzz of the possibility. I am personally very fond of the Barbara Stanwyck original movie and am not particularly interested in a re-creation of a film that is already well-known, innocent and decent in it's time, and loved!

The Most Wonderful Time:

Per deadline.com, Robert Redford and Diane Keaton are in talks to star in new Christmas movie titled The Most Wonderful Time.

The Yuletide project will feature story lines with multiple characters that overlap, based around the chaos of family Christmases.

Please note: I have no idea, at this time, what this will be rated.

Elf-Man:

According to the film’s website - Wise Acre Films: An Elf is left behind by Santa to help rescue the Harper family from a lousy Christmas. The Elf and family get more than they bargained for when their father is kidnapped by bad guys determined to steal his new invention. After the kids help the Elf discover his special powers, he risks his life to save their father. And along the way, he discovers his true destiny as a budding superhero: Elf-Man!

The film stars Jason Acuna, McKenzie Astin, and Jeffrey Combs.

3 Day Test:

Actor Corbin Bernsen (L.A. Law, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus) is creating a new independent film Christmas movie titled "3 Day Test". According to wkyc.com, "3 Day Test," a light comedy written by Bernsen, is a story of a man who takes extreme measures to get closer to his family during the holiday season. Also according to wkyc.com, Bernsen will have a small role in the movie as a burned-out hippie-turned-underground-cable-show producer.

Random Acts of Christmas

“Random Acts of Christmas,” a family friendly Independent Christmas movie began production March 6, 2012 in Wheeling, W.V. according to http://www.huntingtonnews.net/25203.

The film, scripted by Ty (“Doughboy) DeMartino , has been described as “an uplifting drama that focuses on one family’s struggles to get their life back and the lesson learned through simple acts of kindness.”

News from the Bluefield Daily Telegraph states that actor Kevin Sizemore will be the star of this film.

Lucky Dog

According to Adirondack Daily Enterprise, the film, called "Lucky Dog," stars movie star Paul Giamatti and comedic actor Paul Rudd.  The story centers on a pair of French-Canadian conmen pals who, despite being on the outs with each other, hatch a get-rich-quick scheme to sell Christmas trees in NY. Per Cinamablend.com, English sweetheart Sally Hawkins (Made in Dagenham) is set to co-star.

Please note: I have no idea, at this time, what this will be rated or even if it will be family-friendly.

"Unknown Name" - Sequel to The Dog who saved Christmas

According to pasadenastarnews.com - they are now creating the 4th sequel to the "The Dog who saved Christmas" film series. This article states that this movie is being made for the Hallmark Channel, however all of the other movies in this series were aired on ABC Family - so it would be my guess that this one will also be on ABC Family - during their annual "25 days of Christmas" event. We shall have to wait and see... This movie will also star Dean Cain and Elisha Donovan.

The other films in the series were - The Dog who saved Christmas, The Dog who saved Christmas Vacation, and The Dog who saved Halloween.

"Unknown Name" - Sequel to 12 Dogs of Christmas

This is Breaking News from Disney Dreaming - Alli Simpson (sister of Cody Simpson) Lands Her First Movie Role In The “The 12 Dogs Of Christmas” Movie Sequel. Her involvement in the film was revealed during a ustream chat.

Plot of original movie - 12 Dogs of Christmas: Upon being sent to live with her aunt in the small town of Doverville, 12-year-old Emma O'Conner finds herself in the middle of a 'dog-fight' with the Mayor and town dogcatcher. In order to strike down their 'no-dogs' law, Emma must bring together a group of schoolmates, grown-ups and adorable dogs of all shapes and sizes in a spectacular holiday pageant.

The original 12 Dogs Of Christmas Movie is a fun, heartwarming story - so we hope the sequel will be the same!

No other casting or plot details have been released.

*If you have any more information on these films above- please contact us with more details.

Hopefully there will be some wonderful new Family Christmas Movies to enjoy this year!
