I hope you are all hanging in there and keeping as cool as possible during this heatwave sweeping across the country! Whew... it sure has been a hot one, hasn't it? And with the smoke to the north and flooding to the south, please be safe out there, everyone.
I keep thinking about all of those working outside in this heat - including my own family here on our farm - and I truly hope everyone is taking extra precautions and staying safe.
And then I think about all of the Christmas movies currently filming right now... I cannot imagine the cast and extras bundled up in winter coats in this intense heat! That has to be quite a challenge. Then, come Christmas, we'll watch those movies and imagine everyone is freezing cold... oh, the magic of movies! 🎄🎬
Honestly, this is the perfect weekend to stay inside, keep cool, and enjoy some classic Christmas movies! And let me tell you... there are so many good ones airing that I've been hitting record, record, record over and over again! I have a feeling you may be doing the same, so I've included the schedule below!
Plus, we have another new Christmas movie this weekend! We're now right in the middle of the new Christmas in July movies, and this new Hallmark movie is hopefully going to bring us all a slightly cooler feeling... Snowbound for the Holidays!❄️
And on Sunday night, the long-awaited return of Blue Ridge: The Series arrives with the first episode of Season 2 - and a special guest star you may recognize from Hallmark!

I hope GAF picks up Christmas Roses this year. It was only on YouTube that I know of and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't a typical holiday romance, but focused on a friendship of a young girl and an older woman.

ReplyDeleteI don’t know how it’s taken Blue Ridge this long to air. We were able to watch it months ago on different streaming services. It’s a great season! A lot more action and intrigue. Spoiler alert: they even include Hurricane Helene devastation in one of the later episodes. I thought that was a great way to be realistic. Plus, it was awesome how they included God’s Divine ways. (Might need tissues) Some things I didn’t care for, like drugs getting into Maddie’s school. I know it’s very realistic, but I think they could’ve handled it more seriously. Anyway, it’s an enjoyable season and I look forward to more. Hopefully they decide to continue the show. -Anonymous1

Recommend? Another "One-time Watch" -
I dunno...maybe it's me...maybe because I've seen soooo many Hallmark, etc. Christmas movies over the years, I'm at a point where it is going to take something really good...really special...really original...to get me to recommend a movie. Because for me, all of the movies that have premiered so far (Christmas Under Construction, The Trouble with Christmas Mistletoe, O Little Christmas Market, and this one, Snowbound for the Holidays) have been, well, okay. Not bad, but not great, not even very good. Maybe worth a one-time watch, but nothing more.
Here, we have good acting by Venessa and Marcus, although I didn't get a sense of strong chemistry between the two (and they could have played out a connection between his dad and her mother much more than they did). But once again we have a very standardized or cookie-cutter plot, with all of the scenes being very formulaic. You pretty much know what's going to happen, and more than once I rolled my eyes thinking, "of course this was going to take place". (SPOILER: The ending with her on the slopes was predictable, but so over-the-top and ridiculous!)
Well, maybe they're saving the really good ones for Countdown to Christmas later in the year. But so far, we're not off to the greatest of starts. Or again, maybe it's just me...
I did enjoy Snowbound for the Holidays. It was real snow and very good.
ReplyDeleteLast weeks Oh Christmas Market, was pretty dumb. While I loved the 2 leads and thought they were great together and apart, the rest of the movie was so overdone and made no sense. How a man has all of his money tied up in a lot that was given to him for free I will never know. And of course he had to sell, and how on earth do they save this place for 4 vendors that supposedly make their yearly money in December, selling things like honey and fudge???????????? And everything rode on shipping the shipping containers, I mean those things need to be transformed and its more than the free paint people would donate. Plain dumb and overdone. If the guy wanted to sell the property cause he was older and wanted money to retire on, then say that. Not all his money was tied up in a vacant lot with people selling their yearly salary in december. And please explain to me how Kat Barrell is going to seriously, make a living selling miniature Christmas villages?????? But, I loved SH and KB each and together. Her friend, literally wore a turtle neck half of the movie, then suddenly wore something else. Found that weird.
And really, they spent years trying to untangle that reindeer???????????????????? Seriously. It wasn't even lights, it was like 2 parts. Just dumb.
