2024 is sure to be another heartwarming and cozy Christmas movie season with Great American Family's faith and family movies. I'm so excited to see so many of our favorite stars return to the network for their 4th annual Christmas movie event!
So many Great American Family Christmas movies are now on my must-see list, including A LITTLE WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS, SLEIGH BELLS AND SUGAR PLUMS, A VINTAGE CHRISTMAS, A CINDERELLA CHRISTMAS BALL, HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS, and more! I could go on and on...

I was hoping you would post this. I am excited about the movies but I can’t help but wonder if Great American Family is going to announce more movies. My reason is where is the Jen Lilley and a Nick Bateman movie and where is the Jessica Lowndes movie her contract was for 4 movies and she did not do 4 movies.

DeleteAll contracts are up. They just didn't complete the four. The contract was about holding the talent for 2 yrs; unfortunately, they were unable or chose to use other actors for films instead of completing the 4. Jess, Jen, Trevor, Danica, & Susie's contracts were for 2 yrs & ended between last fall & this past winter. The only contracted actors now are Mario, Cameron, & Jillian Murray. Candace's deal with them is different, but she is producing her own films & they are acquiring them; not funding or developing in part. Jessica & Daniel's movie is filmed through a Canadian filmmaking grant alongside other funds raised--completely indie. It could go anywhere; possibly streaming only this year. I'm not sure about Jen's bc that is produced by MPCA (The Brad Krevoy team) & he was an initial investor for GAM, so not sure what's going on there. However, MPCA also still works with HM, (WCTH), & also makes films for streaming on Netflix, other networks, Paramount+ etc. I do think Susie is in a Hallmark movie this year. -Megan
DeleteMegan you are wrong. I checked all the Deadline articles no where does it say anything that the contract was about holding the talent for two years. The contract were all four pictures deals, Both Jen and Jessica still have two movies to do. Danica and Trevor both finished their contracts and still have new movies airing this Christmas. As far as Jessica and Daniel movie is was also produced by Robin Dunne who produced movies for GAC the last two year.. Susie her contract is up but Susie is dealing with something unexpected that happened to a family member.

Having a small lineup of movies that you know will be high quality beats a really huge lineup of movies that you have no idea will be good or worth re-watching until they premiere! (hello there, Hallmark!).

ReplyDeleteI just watched Coupled Up for Christmas. I would skip it! The chemistry of the leads and a real winter setting were the only things that saved it. Her family was barely in it and it seemed like this was written for characters their early twenties. The writing was cringe at times. I really think GAF made a horrible mistake.

DeleteI was happy to see Coupled up for Christmas made the schedule until I read the fine print. What the heck? It’s only going to air on Thanksgiving night? I was looking forward to catching this one throughout the holiday season, but I guess if you really want to see it, you’ve got at least one chance.

DeleteI read it as a new premiere is TBA for Thanksgiving, not that Coupled Up For Christmas would be airing then. It also said World Premiere so I would hope it is something actually new and not a movie already streaming elsewhere.

Erin, That's very possible that there could be additions. GAF is known for surprising their viewers. "Christmas in Maple Hills" was added to their line-up last year around mid-November.

It seems she has been staying with them, but I guess she could also want to have HM movies too. I hope they will have those few as additions. All of these movies we already knew anyway. “A Little Women Christmas “- The talent and the storyline will make for a special movie. Any Candace Cameron Bure movie (“Home Sweet Christmas”) is a must see for me, especially when Cameron Mathison is featured. The Danica McKellar movie is yet another movie with a good storyline of take me away on a Christmas adventure vide-love it! Two of my favorite actors (Jill Wagner & Jesse Hutch) team up as two history buffs to find the meaning of Christmas. This history teacher and docent will not miss it. A history theme movie “A Vintage Christmas “ should be terrific. I am especially interested on the preservation aspect as they tie it into holiday wonder.
Thanks to Net for the outstanding article with insight and information on the movies and possible additions. The Itsawonderfulmovie community as always brings some of the best comments and reviews. They certainly help me in my movie viewing.

ReplyDeleteI am excited about the lineup and can't wait to watch many of these movies! I don't mind a smaller number of movies, but I am surprised that several of the movies are movies that can already be viewed on other platforms since they are going with a smaller number. I asked GAF about Jen and Nick's movie AND Jessica and Daniel's movie on IG and X. GAF gave me a "like" on IG but nothing on X. I was just sure these movies were going to be for GAF and must admit I will be disappointed if they do not get added to the schedule. I was also hoping for a new movie with Lori Loughlin. I did see someone also express this on IG and GAF replied with something like..."oh the anticipation". So....maybe there is still hope that these movies will be added and we might see Lori. I love GAF and am still very excited for Great American Christmas year 4! Thank you Net for all the information you share!

ReplyDeleteI think they will be adding more movies at least another 5 to 6 movies. Last year list was 21 movies and of course they added the movie with Marcus Rosner that aired the Monday after thanksgiving. If they only air the 16 with the same schedule they did last year the last movie would air December 8. Last year the movie that got them the best ratings out of all the Christmas movies was A Royal Christmas Holiday and that aired December 23. I think that Operation Mistletoe Jen Lilley and Nick Bateman movie will be added, the Jessica Lowndes and Daniel Lissing movie will also be added and some others.

DeleteI’m wondering if some of the movies are ONLY going to be on Great American Pure Flix and not Great American Family. I don’t have a subscription to GA Pure Flix and it’s not in the budget at $90 a year lump sum and even at $9.99 a month I’d have to cut some other expense for a few months to see the Christmas movies.
ReplyDeleteWe already have FrndlyTV, Discovery Plus. & Up Faith & Family. My daughter pays for Paramount Plus, Netflix (she taught herself Korean & watches movies in Korean on there) & she gets Hulu free with Spotify.
Last year I did one week trials on a few other streaming services to be able to watch a few Christmas movies I wanted to see, so this year I’d have to pay for a month of they had any movies I wanted to see. I would have to cut another expense somewhere. My budget is so tight already it looks like size 12 me trying to squeeze into my size 4 daughter’s pants 🤣
I wasn’t going to renew Up Faith & Family because I’ve been disappointed with them. I can watch all of their movies somewhere else. My husband renewed it without telling me first. I was going to ask him to get GA Pure Flix instead. Now I have to wait til sometime next year when Up F& F expires.
Me, to my husband:”Maybe you should cut back on your cashew snacking for a while. I think you are over doing it ” (so I can get Pure Flix and what ever other streaming services I need during the Christmas season 🤣)
Hmmm...I don't know...it's tough for us guys to cut back on our cashew snacking, and even worse for some of us to cut back on our Cheeze-It snacking! :)

DeleteI had subscribed to Pure Flix before and when that ran out, I took a little break. Well, they kept sending me offers and finally one of them was around 40% off the regular price, so I couldn't let that deal go.
They haven't announced any NEW exclusives to Pure Flix for this Christmas season, yet, but streamers often do that, so it's possible. I'll be sure to share if I hear anything.

So lately my husband has been stealing our kids snacks, mainly Cheeze-it’s (which I need to easily take with us to practices) so I bought him his own “grown up cheeze-it’s” as I told him. I forget the flavor but they had a chili pepper on the box and he hated them, he said the smell was so strong it stunk up his whole truck 😂 so he’s back to eating the kids cheeze-it bags, he said it’s the perfect portion size for him 😂

Oh Paula, I can so relate to your husband! Yes, those Chili Cheezit's are powerful! I tried them once but I had to stop because they were giving me heartburn. And they indeed stink! So I stick with my favorite - the extra-toasty Cheezit's. (Those are my go-to snack when I need something salty. My #2 go-to - cashews!)

DeleteThank you for asking, our daughter is over the moon with the puppy. She takes him at the table when she eats, when she’s watching a movie he’s laying on the couch with her, it’s so cute. Our son on the other hand cannot be left alone with him, I think he’s confused. Like he thinks he may be a toy but yet he’s running around and nipping at his feet Lol

DeleteThe movies that interest me the most are Jill’s and Danica’s. They seem like the best plots and the best actors fit. I like some other storylines but I don’t like the actors so I will be skipping. (Like Vintage) Little Women sounds great but I’m still waiting to see if it will be sad. Do not want sad at Christmas!

Hallmark hasn’t changed its status. It’s been a few years since the big change in family content and it seems people are just accepting it instead of standing up against it. So sad. I'm sure all those people you mentioned will definitely be staying at GAF. Now, it is just a matter of time of when Lori's new projects will be announced. Back in April on a Full House podcast she guest-starred in, she said that she had some other good projects that are coming up.

**Christmas in Scotland (2023 XumoPlay) I loved the beautiful Scottish setting but the movie itself was rather middle-of-the-road, but probably cute enough for a one-time watch.
**The Fabric of Christmas (2023 on Roku) Excellent movie! Thoroughly enjoyable! Would buy the dvd, if available.
**Christmas by Candlelight (2023 XumoPlay) I just couldn’t get into this movie, so I quit watching.
**Coupled Up for Christmas (2023 XumoPlay) Entertaining, funny, sweet. Had a few silly bits but it’s definitely worth a re-watch for me.

ReplyDeleteChristmas Wreaths and Ribbons. Slow, dull, uninspired. Delete halfway. Nice, sweet message about caring for your neighbor, but my already-blah mood just couldn’t handle any more of this movie. Casey was good but I couldn’t quite understand how his character would completely just drop everything and abandon his own business to spend all his busy holiday time becoming a florist for his prickly neighbor (there just didn’t seem to be a realistic balance between his life and Christmas bakery responsibilities and helping her all the time -- surely, they could’ve found a student to help out part time at low pay)?? And, for me, Kristin’s character was just a cross between annoying and lackluster. I needed more chemistry or liveliness or humor or something to keep me from snoozing. The wreaths and Christmas decorations were pretty and not the usual “GAF-over-the-top”, so that was nice. Agree with Mark 25, Joan and Sabrina on this one. ~~Jane
ReplyDeleteA Christmas Castle Proposal. So, we all know I am not a fan of royal movies (that’s an understatement! 🤣) but I, somehow, actually made it all the way through this one. Overall, it was a sweet, family-friendly movie, especially if the family has teen girls. I think what saved it, for me, was Rhiannon’s beauty and quirkiness and down-to-earth acting performance. (Well, if I’m truly honest, it was probably more so that beautiful gown that made this movie worth watching!) The leading man was pretty good, as well, although part of his character’s situation was rather tiresome. Likewise, I was not impressed with how the writer’s handled the proposal scene. However, what completely tanked this movie, for me, was Olivia’s hillbilly, bumpkin parents. Most specifically, her horribly ANNOYING and inappropriate mother!!! I was multitasking while watching and if it hadn’t been for the specialness of Rhiannon, I would have hit delete the moment her mother opened her mouth! Needless to say, I’m not planning on buying the dvd. Family friendly. (Side note. Why is the Queen the Queen?? She herself was not royalty but married into the royal family; she would not be in the line of succession.
