HALLMARK MEDIA, NFL,
SKYDANCE SPORTS &
THE WORLD CHAMPION
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
TEAM UP FOR NEW
CHRISTMAS MOVIE
"HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN:
A CHIEFS LOVE STORY"

TYLER HYNES, HUNTER KING AND ED BEGLEY JR. STAR IN MOVIE SET TO PREMIERE ON HALLMARK CHANNEL DURING THE 15TH ANNUAL COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS PROGRAMMING EVENT

STUDIO CITY, Calif. and KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 25, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Are you ready for some football? It's game time on Hallmark Channel this holiday season when two renowned Kansas City institutions - the Kansas City Chiefs and Hallmark - team up with the NFL and Skydance Sports for a holiday movie and partnership that will have audiences everywhere cheering - TOUCHDOWN! Tyler Hynes (Shifting Gears, Three Wise Men and a Baby), Hunter King (Two Scoops Of Italy, The Santa Summit) and Ed Begley Jr. (Young Sheldon, Better Call Saul) star in the new, original movie, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. The movie begins production next month and will film entirely in Kansas City, Missouri locations, including the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, marking the first time the loudest stadium in the world has been used as a filming location in a Hallmark movie.

"With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations," said Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer, Hallmark. "By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community's spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way."

"We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this," Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. "As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom's energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season."

In Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, Alana Higman (King) is sure that her family's lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team's "Fan of the Year" contest. Derrick (Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. As the pair spends time together, it's clear there's a spark between them but when her grandfathers (Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.

This film marks the ultimate celebration of a longstanding collaboration between the two pioneering KC-based brands, officially uniting the Hallmarkies and Chiefs Kingdom like never before. With planning underway for game-day activations, unique co-branded merchandise, and on-air, social, and digital promotion, the multifaceted partnership will engage widespread audiences both on and off the field, with more details to be announced later this year. What's more, this film will fuel the proven track record of viewership crossover between Countdown to Christmas enthusiasts and sports fans. In fact, over 50% of Hallmark Channel viewers also watched sports while the Countdown to Christmas was on air in 2023, making this film the perfect holiday occasion.*

Skydance Sports serves as the Executive Producer of Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. A newly formed venture between Skydance Media and the NFL, Skydance Sports is designed to create a top-end sports content studio and expand multi-platform sports programming across a broad range of formats.

To celebrate the uniquely local partnership between the two organizations, Kansas City's downtown skyline will be lit purple and red tonight beginning at sunset.

  1. LOl, I predicted last year when he did his little ad for the chiefs that this would happen. I predicted Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes will be in it too. Along with Brittany Mahomes and nof course Taylor. LOL

  2. They are obviously trying to exploit the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce love story without saying so directly. They don't even mention the couple in this article but it's very obvious to anyone that knows about the couple that this is trying to take advantage of that relationship to make money. They are hoping "HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A CHIEFS LOVE STORY" will fool people (especially the tons of Swifties) into thinking that it is a movie about Swift/Kelce and they will get tons of views. They even use the term Hallmarkies instead of Swifties in the article lol.

Oh sure, I'll watch it because I am a Christmas fanatic but this seems a big shady to me. Maybe I am overthinking it though as I tend to do at times...haha

    1. Jim, I think you are spot on with the T&T connection, which personally doesn't interest me, but I'm sure it will be a big draw for others. Travis said in an interview back in April that he is (and I quote), "a huge fan" of Hallmark movies, so I wouldn't rule out him doing a cameo.

Although the term, Hallmarkies, isn't new (fans of Hallmark have been using that on social media for some time), I bet you're right that it was intentionally used here.

    2. Jim, I agree 100% with everything that you said! It is so obvious of who their target audience is with this movie, and because of that, it will probably get high ratings. Even the storyline is far-fetched! It wouldn't surprise me if this is one of the most panned movies by all of us regulars this season!

    3. I never listen to Taylor Swift, not a fan. But I've heard her some of her songs are very offensive towards Christianity. So I think I will pass this time.

    4. Jim, I am right here with you. I am not going to watch it though, cause I have NEVER and NEVER will be a Chiefs fan. Even long before it was Mahomes and Kelce, I never liked them. Not even back with Joe Montana. So I do not jump on the bandwagon cause they are winning. I cannot stand most of the current players. And Kelce should stick to football, cause he is no actor.

I am a GIANT football fan. I play on multiple fantasy leagues and even won my league last year. But I do not do the Chiefs, and I am pretty sure HM is just on the bandwagon like most of america on this one.

    5. Sabrina, I am a looooong time suffering Cleveland Browns fan! That's awesome that you won your fantasy league.

    6. Jim, we got your Bake Bake quarterback, my Buccaneers. I always had such high hopes for him when he came to NFL. Maybe this is his time. The browns get so close, they seem to get better and better. Maybe this is their year. But hard with the Ravens (I am pretty sure I won cause of Lamar last year, he rocked).

I guess I have always had a favorite player and then that was my team. Was a Colts and Broncos fan only cause of Peyton manning. I loved him back in college when he was at Tennessee and I was at FSU. I even had a life size display of colts Peyton and brought it out for all the games back when it was always Brady vs Manning. I was so in love with Steve Young back in the day too. I am from Pittsburgh originally as a kid, but NOT a steelers fan.

    7. Baker Mayfield did some good in Cleveland, but I don't think I ever truly forgave him for planting the Oklahoma flag in the middle of my beloved OSU Buckeyes field. He planted it right inside the O...ugggg, after they beat us. That really upset me haha. Then a year later he was in Cleveland.

I love the Manning brothers. I love to watch their show on ESPN2 during Monday Night Football.

I am sooo glad that you aren't a Steelers fan haha. Our arch enemy.

  3. I am on the fence regarding this movie. I have enjoyed most of the Tyler Hynes movies in the past. Hunter King is a no go usually for me and my family.

  4. Let's see: Football (which I have no interest in, especially with the NFL), 2 actors (1 I used to like, but is now severely overrated and keeps getting lousy movies, and 1 who is not only really boring, but hasn't yet been in a single movie that I want to rewatch)...

    2 words: No, thanks!! -Maria

  6. There’s short movie about Taylor & Travis’ love story - “Falling for Football”

Starring Tyler Hynes & Janel Parrish

They watched a short movie at the football stadium

  7. I know nothing about Taylor swift and her relationship so I’m not against this movie, I’ll give it a try. It just doesn’t sound Christmas enough for me, sounds more like a fall movie with the whole football theme….but I like both actors so I’ll watch it. And for my movie today 25th, I’ll be watching Trading Christmas, it’s an old one but I love it!

    1. I LOVE Trading Christmas. I watch it a lot.

I watched A Very Merry Mix Up for my 25th movie :) I had been thinking of Alicia Witt a lot lately so I had to watch that.

      Delete
    2. I also LOVE Trading Christmas!

      Delete
    3. Sabrina, I really like "A Very Mix Up" also. There is something so cozy and comfy about the night they bake the Christmas cookies in the middle of the night when they aren't supposed to go to sleep. I just love the lit Christmas decorations in the house for those scenes with the house lights off. I am a night owl so something about those scenes gives me such joy. When the rest of the world is asleep so much cozy fun can be had.

      Delete
    4. Hey guys! I have not seen “A Very Merry Mixup” but I have seen “Christmas at Cartwrights” and I absolutely loved it! So maybe I should watch some other ones with Alicia Witt, I’m sure I’ll like them, she has a few Christmas ones that I’ll see playing from time to time on hallmark. I just love the older Christmas movies so much.
      ~Paula

    5. Jim, I love that scene too. I love when she goes to the Mitchums and they just love her and she fits in with them instantly. She recognizes the allspice in the eggnog, and from that moment on, she was part of that Mitchum family. They have to wait out their no sleep, and they bake the cookies, and look at pics of the family and Grandma Mitchum.

I love when Grandpa comes and gives them all the red noses, and he just loves Alice immediately. He knows Matt and her belong together, like he knew he belonged with his late wife.

I just LOVE the 8:42 part. They all say 8:42 and they all say hey, and alice says that Matt told her the story. Grandpa said he took one look at her and knew he would love her forever. I just love those family scenes. Grandpa stole the show in that movie. And of course, the notes game.

The other Mitchums were SO different. I would have loved to watch another 2 hours just simply of Alice and Matt's Mitchums hanging out, cooking christmas dinner, getting ready for Christmas. Such a great movie.

    6. Paula, I really think you will like "A Very Merry Mixup". You have to be an Alicia Witt fan though. My cousins just don't like her haha but I really like her. She is a staple of holiday movies like others.

Sabrina, I hated it when she went to the other Mitchums. Everything about those scenes were so cold. I wanted her to go back to Grandpa and the other Mitchums sooo bad. You are so right; I want another two hours of her having all the Christmas festivities with the fun Mitchums. The scenes in the Matt Mitchums house really warmed my heart.

      Delete
    7. Jim, Sabrina and Paula, A Very Merry Mixup is one of my all-time favorites, too! I love all of the scenes you have mentioned, and in addition, I love her reaction when she realizes it is not her boyfriend who shows up at the house! But Jim, I don't know if you have to be an Alicia Witt fan (like us) to appreciate this movie - I think it stands on its own, even though Alicia is a big plus!

Also Jim, maybe you already know this, but she is coming out with a Christmas album this year! (She did a Christmas song, "I'm Not Ready for Christmas", some years ago, which is pretty funny. I always thought if she changed the lyrics to make the song "I'm So Ready for Christmas", she would have a hit!)

      Delete
    8. You are right Mark; the movie does stand on its own. I clumsily wrote that about having to be an Alicia Witt fan to like the movie in relation to my cousins. If she is in a movie, they just don't watch it. However, they don't speak for the rest of the Christmas movie watching world haha.

Also Mark, I have OCD (Obsessive Christmas Disorder). If I wrote a song, it would be called "I'm so OBSESSED with Christmas". I wonder if that tune is on Alicia's album?

      Delete
    9. Paula, Sabrina, Jim, & Mark,

Okay, so I just had to add that I also have a very soft place in my heart for Alicia Witt, due to her extra-fun Christmas movies and the sad way she lost both of her parents. She has continually been on my heart since then, and I keep hoping she will have a Christmas movie again. Thank you, Mark, for sharing the news on her Christmas album. That is such wonderful news!

As for "A Very Merry Mix-Up," I absolutely LOVE that movie, too!!! I mean, my goodness... it's filled with such sweet family moments and surprises... (SPOILERS - don't read if you haven't seen it) from the coffee spill, to the car accident, and the best moment - when the wrong Billy walks in the door!!! Oh, I just love it all!!! (End of SPOILERS)

By the way, "A Very Merry Mix-Up" is airing twice during Hallmark Channel's Christmas in July -
      Monday July 1 - 11a/10c
      Thursday July 18 - 7p/6c

I've also been meaning to add the Christmas movie I watched on the 25th. It's a lesser known movie that was new last year on UPtv, "Dial S for Santa." This was my second time watching it since last year. It has a lot of actors I recognized from Hallmark and the lead guy starred in the Great American Family movie, "Love in Bloom."

"Dial S for Santa" is a cute, lighthearted story with a fun mystery (no murder), and it has a sweet romance.

As I was watching this, it was fun to see some of the delightful Christmas commercials I had recorded with it. Did any of you see the Amazon commercial last year with the three older women sledding? The longer version of it shows one of the women reminiscing and remembering when they were little girls. It is so touching. If you haven't seen it, I found a link to it on YouTube, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hq1K4zS8kw

Happy Christmas in July, everyone!!! Net

      Delete
    10. Oh yes Net, I absolutely love that sledding commercial. I have never seen the extended version though when she reminisces. Love that even more!

I didn't know about Alicia Witt losing her parents in what sounds like some tragic way. My heart grows even softer for her. She is very bubbly and fun. She is also very Witty.

    11. I love "Trading Christmas" and "A Very Merry Mix-Up"!! I may have to watch both dvd's this weekend. Crank the AC and try and pretend that it's not 98 degrees outside!! And, yes, those Amazon commercials were very cute. I remember feeling guilty for thinking they were adorable since I have a love/hate thing with Amazon. I'm not a fan of their politics and "wokeness", but their business model makes it very hard to resist buying things!!

    12. Alicia had it very rough a few years ago. Her parents died in their home from the cold when it was discovered that their house had no heat. Alicia said that she had no idea that their home had no heat, but she did know that they were struggling and that she tried to help them, but that they were stubborn and refused any help at all. Then, around the same time, she found she had breast cancer and underwent treatment She thinks the cancer may have been linked to excessive drinking on her part (and which she has now totally given up). According to her website, she is doing well, is happy, and is keeping busy with filming (a horror movie), recording (her upcoming Christmas album), and concerts.

    13. Mark, I really like Alicia Witt, but I DEFINITELY will not be watching her horror movie. I NEVER EVER watch horror movies. I have a saying that I have enough horror naturally running around in my mind. I don't need to spoon feed more horror by voluntarily watching it in a movie. I absolutely hate it when they have horror movie commercials that catch me off guard and I have to turn them off immediately. I have this weird way of totally absorbing what I watch in a movie, and it penetrates my psyche so strongly that it takes hours sometimes for me to cleanse it from my being. My attitude and being becomes what I am watching for a while after it is over. Some kind of empathetic thing maybe? I don't know. I have a hard time separating reality from fiction for a while, after I watch a movie, especially one that disturbs me in some way. That's why I have to be very careful in what I watch. I have gone into full blown panic attacks in past from watching horror movies. Sorry Alicia, I'm totally with you on the Christmas stuff but not the Halloween stuff. By the way, I love the fall, but I despise all the horror movie scheduling that runs in October. Thankfully, Christmas movies are covering most of October now.

      Delete
    14. Hey Jim, I am the same way with the horror movie previews that they just sneak in everywhere! I was watching a baking video on YouTube from Laura Vitale and it came on out of nowhere, some trailer for a horror movie. Like how many horror movies can they make about demon possessed kids? So sad and I can’t even imagine what those little child actors go though when they practice those scripts and film those movies. I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I watched one so I can’t imagine those poor child actors. And I’ll be setting my DVR to record the Very Merry Mixup on July 18th 😊

    15. Oh yeah, I agree with you. I can't do horror films. I know what you mean regarding that surprise scary promo. Especially when it's on a totally different kind of channel. No thank you!!

I love Alica's Christmas movies. She has that bright laugh that's in every one. I pray she's doing ok. Hope to see her in a Christmas film soon, but can't do horrors. I like to think of the Bible verse. Keep your mind on what is good and lovely.

  10. Is it just me, I don’t like when they pair Tyler with newer people, he should be with some of the more well known actresses.
I guess I’m just spoiled with all the movies that had two well know actors and I noticed their not doing that as much. I hate change, lol, but because Tyler is the lead I will be watching.~Susan Ann

  13. I've been pondering whether or not to share more regarding Taylor Swift, but I feel the Lord pressing on my heart to do so.

My friend Abigail mentioned in a comment above that Taylor's music is "very offensive towards Christianity" and I strongly believe that, as well.

I won't go into all of the details, but in her concerts she performs demonic rituals that are quite frightening. Some call it performance art, but I personally believe it is much more than that.

Evil can creep in so easily, if we allow it. Something that seems so innocent, at first, may not be at all.

I've been warning family and friends for some time, especially those with young, influential girls.

When you were commenting about the baby needing prayers, we were going through something similar with our new grandson. Thank you Net for posting the article on Taylor Swift. She was ok when she started in country music, but when she switched to pop her whole being changed. So sad that she has been blinded by satan and his lies like the world we live in today! So sad that young girls are influenced by her! I love football, but will pass on this movie! God bless you Net for following the leading of the Lord!!

    1. Joyce, I 100% agree... the change from country to pop is when she started to gradually change. It is sad (and scary) to see the way she is idolized by young girls and some adults, too. We must keep her in our prayers and those she influences. Thank you for sharing.

      Delete
  15. Thank you Net for saying what's on your heart! I've heard it was bad and her lyrics were not what a Christian would want to hear. But I didn't know it was like that. Sin and evil has always been around since the fall, but it's still scary that's what our world likes. Praying for our country.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey, Net. Thank you for the excellent Taylor Swift info. I had seen the MovieGuide articles but not the ChurchPop one (that's a website I was unfamiliar with -- I'm not Catholic but I do listen to some good podcasts by some priests and Catholic pro-life advocates that I like). I totally agree that Taylor Swift is a sad mess and a horrible influence on young girls. I liked some of her very early music but am disappointed that she seems to have wholeheartedly embraced opposition to God. It's truly a shame since she has a lovely voice and charisma and creativity that could have been used in a good way, had she but chosen the better path. And, thankfully, there is still hope, in Christ, for her! She needs our prayers (along with all the young girls she influences).
BUT... I'm just wondering what does she really have to do with this upcoming movie? I must have missed something since I don't understand why so many people are refusing to watch it?
Did Taylor Swift write the script, or pay for it, or sanction it or is she acting out witchcraft scenes in the movie? Or is it just because her current football-player boyfriend has movie aspirations and might have a cameo or small part in this movie?? Hoping someone will clarify in case I missed something. I'm not a fan of Taylor or the NFL and what it stands for these days (although I love college football and wish the players had something better than the NFL after they leave college!), but I do like Tyler Hynes and usually enjoy his movies (disregarding last season's "Chris'd" horror!) and I liked Hunter King in "The Santa Summit", so I'm really hoping this upcoming movie will be cute and not tainted. Hallmark linking arms with the NFL sounds like a cheesy marketing ploy (as others have stated) but so long as they don't add a LBTGPBJQXYZ+ or some other tawdry storyline to the movie, it could end up being a cute one. Maybe?!? Hopefully, someone here will let us know if they hear anything truly negative about the script or the directing for this movie.

And on a totally different note. I had never heard of National Leon Day. Say what?!?! Am I the only one that finds the term Leon Day to be kind of weird and maybe disrespectful? Who decided to take a word that embodies the good news and celebration of joy in Christ's birth and to spell it backwards? Maybe I'm overthinking things, as I usually do?!! 🀣

    1. Jane, Thank you so much for your insightful wisdom. I, too, am not Catholic, but I came across the ChurchPop article and thought it was interesting and informative. I'm with you in how important it is to keep Taylor in our prayers. It is sad to see how she has changed through the years. Her old song, Love Story, will always hold a special place in my heart.

As for this new Christmas movie, I also see no reason to skip it out right, unless, of course, it is not family-friendly.

I simply wanted to share a little of what I know about Taylor to inform others, since the subject was brought up in comments. Other then the Kansas City Chiefs being her boyfriend, Travis' team, I should've stated that the two are not related. At least, not to our knowledge, at this point.

      Blessings! Net

    2. I also forgot to attach these two links to more info on Taylor Swift's lyrics and videos. They are articles I had previously read from Plugged In, which is an excellent resource from Focus on the Family where they give Christian-perspective reviews for various movies, books and music. ~~Jane

    3. Jane, I will skip it because I am not a Chiefs fans and have not been long before mahomes and kelce. But to be honest, I am not a fan of either nor the team. Never was before Taylor. Brittany mahomes is rude and obnoxious.

So I just do not want to watch cause of that, and also for the fact that it seems everyone loves the chiefs and I feel so much of that is cause they are pushed down football fans throats. Every week i always get a chiefs game, but not even a dolphins or Jaguars game and they are in the same state as me. The NFL pushes them and even some announcers when they call their games, clearly are in favor of them winning. Its just the bandwagon thing i guess.

I want people to make up their own minds who they like, not what the nfl pushes on you. And now even Hallmark seems to push them. I do not watch their games and I just do not want to see them anymore. Thats just me.

Isn't it enough to see Kelce just in the games? He is an actor now? I don't get it. But I sure saw him getting up in his coaches face when he didn't like a play call. I did watch that game as it was the superbowl.

It just got to be too much trying to watch football and everything being about Taylor Swift. If she was there, if she was dancing with Brittany Mahomes, if she was looking for kelce. I call it the sheeple that have to follow cause Taylor swift does, or whomever. Thats just my opinion.

And, I guess I am just not that much of a fan of TH, I am probably the only one. I liked some of his earlier HM movies like Its Christmas Eve and Falling for you, but I havent really liked many others.

    4. Jane, Thank you for adding these links to the pluggin website. I know that site and like it very much; I will definitely read their information on this. Appreciate you sharing!

    5. You are right Jane. I was a bit overly dramatic in my response above about the Swift/Hallmark movie connection. I deleted that post. I think it was wrong of me to connect what the singer does to the movie at this point. Like Net said, there isn't a reason to dismiss or make some negative connection to the movie at this moment in time, as I have done.

    6. Sabrina, Thank you for sharing your take on this. There is certainly a feeling of pandering with this film. I totally get that. I'm sure many football fans will have mixed feelings on it. That's one of the sports world that I know little about, but I'm still aware of the names you mentioned and some of the drama. Should be interesting to see the ratings for this one. Due to the extensive promotion already and the curiosity of viewers, it will likely still be high.

    7. Sabrina, I just don't understand what the obsession is with Taylor and her boyfriend. The media and the "sheeple" are both kinda insane! I did not watch the super bowl or any nfl games and yet it was still impossible to escape photos and videos of Taylor's every move. I was not impressed with what I saw. By the way, I used to live in Jacksonville during the time when the Jaguars first "arrived". I still have t-shirts buried in a dresser drawer somewhere. I also have a bunch of Ravens shirts buried in there -- from a time before I became totally disgruntled with the nfl. :)

Jim, don't delete your posts!! Sometimes our first thoughts are more passionate or "dramatic", but they're valid thoughts that others can usually relate to. I think one of the nice things about coming here is that Net has made it a wonderful place where we can talk about things and listen to others and share thoughts and stick to our guns or change our minds (several times, if needed! 🀣 -- I totally changed my mind on a Christmas movie I just re-watched, and I'm so thankful that thoughts and viewpoints from others here are what encouraged me to give it a second viewing, and hopefully my grumpy, "overly dramatic", initial review did not dissuade anyone from watching a cute movie.)

Net, you're the best! Such a sweet and gentle moderator of all of our varied thoughts.

By the way, I was just wondering - upon thinking of Kelce's acting aspirations - have any other football players become movie actors?

  17. We stopped listening to Taylor because of all the profanity in her new songs. I used to let my daughter listen to some of her earlier music, but after reading the articles you shared, I’m not even sure that’s safe.

    1. Anonymous, we weren't allowed to listen to her growing up. My mom didn't feel it was wise. Thankful for the wisdom the Lord gave her!
