Hallmark Media announces a new Christmas-themed mystery series, Mistletoe Murders, starring Actress Sarah Drew, who will also serve as Executive Producer on this project.
See when and where you can watch Mistletoe Murders in my update at the end of this post.
According to Deadline, who made this announcement, "Drew has been cast as Emily Lane in Mistletoe Murders, which is based on the Audible global hit podcast of the same name. Emily is described as smart, tough, and observant, but also kind, empathetic, and charming with a great — albeit dry — sense of humor."
Hallmark Media also released this story synopsis: "When Emily isn’t busy running her charming small-town Christmas-themed store, “Under the Mistletoe,” she finds herself compelled to investigate local murders with the help of a handsome local police detective and his teen daughter. On the surface, Emily is a perfectly lovely, good-natured mystery lover – but she is hiding a secret past that, if exposed, threatens to destroy the new life she has built in Fletcher’s Grove."
Sarah Drew has a long resume of Hallmark movies that include Guiding Emily, Front of the Class, One Summer, Christmas in Vienna, and Branching Out, and a variety of films for other outlets, including the theater production, Mom's Night Out, Lifetime's Christmas Pen Pals, and more recently, Great American Pure Flix's Birthright Outlaw.
Sarah shared this movie news with her followers, using three smiling faces and clapping emojis and the caption, "SO excited!!!"
I'm also excited to hear this Christmas movie news and learn how Hallmark is incorporating the mystery genre into its upcoming holiday programming.
UPDATE (September 16, 2024):
Mistletoe Murders will premiere on Thursday, October 31st, on Hallmark+. The series will consist of six episodes.
I am so excited about this love Christmas movies and especially mysteries. Although I wish that she posted about April and Jackson getting their own show. I am happy about this.
ReplyDeleteInteresting.... So if it's a Christmas series, I'm assuming every film will be holiday based?? I can see them putting it out during the Christmas in July week.
ReplyDeleteNot for Christmas in July. It hasn't started actually filming yet. It's starting soon. It will likely air on the mystery channel alongside their weekly holiday movies this year (so a different night). Just a guess, but that would make sense.
DeleteSeems like an overdone theme. How about something new.
ReplyDeletesounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe should all congratulate Net...
ReplyDelete'Cause I heard from a little birdie...
That the number of clicks on this site...
In millions has now surpassed thirty!
Okay, I know, that's bad...I'm sorry! I just don't have the clever way with words that Net does!
Seriously though, congratulations Net!! Still, I am not surprised at the popularity of this site! I mean, I don' t know if there is any other place where we could come together and feel like a family and not only share share our thoughts on Christmas (and other) movies and shows, but also share our faith, look for help, give advice, joke around, comfort each other, and simply talk about whatever...and even when we disagree, always being respectful of each other!
And as many of us have said before, thank you Net, for all of the time and hard work you put into this site. It is not taken for granted.
Did you ever think you would have over 30 millions clicks here??
It's a Wonderful Movie...It's a wonderful site!

Did I ever think IAWM would reach 30 million clicks? Honestly, I never dreamed or imagined it, but God knew, and He knew this place would bring together so many dear, likeminded friends, who not only enjoy movies, but Love Him, and that is The Greatest Joy!
Thank you, Mark, for *Mark*ing this milestone! :)

DeleteMurders during "Miracles of Christmas" season? Blasphemy. A big pass for this guy.
ReplyDeleteI tried watching the mystery movies before and they are just not for me. The first time I tried to watch one was when my sweet little Candace Cameron Bure was being shot at by some bad guy who was trying to kill her. I was like...Toto, we aren't in "Let it Snow" anymore. What is this? My brain just couldn't compute it. That was the end of my murder mystery watching.
Jim, you have such a way with words! Your "Toto" comment was humorous perfection! ~~Jane
DeleteThank you, Jane. Nothing beats your wonderful movie reviews though. You are my own personal Siskel & Ebert.
DeleteThis is so cool! I love that they are announcing this to be a series, but what does that mean exactly? Do we have to wait until next Christmas to see movie #2?
ReplyDeleteAllie B, Good question. That is unknown for now. It's possible they could do two at Christmastime or wait until next Christmas for movie #2 or Christmas in July next year.
DeleteGreetings and Blessings! I don't usually care for mysteries, but there are a very few that I like. I liked Sarah Drew in Guiding Emily, Branching out, Mom's Night out.
ReplyDeleteOff topic, I really enjoyed The Legend of the Missing Locket with Natasha Burnett, Viv Leacock. They are so good together.
Namegirl, So good to hear how much you also enjoyed "The Legend of the Missing Locket"! That one is such a sweet movie that was well received by many. I'm hoping they will do another! :)
DeleteBlessings, Net
Congrats to Net - the numbers keep growing faster and faster.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted Mark 25.
TBH I'm getting a bit fed up with all these new mysteries few of which go anywhere - Florence
Do we really need murder stuff at Christmas? Is there no other kind of mystery? I was afraid the HMM movies would be mysteries. I will not and haven't watched a new mystery til some of the others get closed out. And I do not want to think of murder at Christmas. I usually stop watching true crime when Christmas movies come on.
ReplyDeleteSabrina and Jim, I know what you mean. I personally love a good mystery, but I'm not loving that this one had to be murder-related at Christmastime.
Delete"Mystery on Mistletoe Lane" was a holiday-themed mystery that didn't involve murder, and of course, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" is excellent at having mysteries without murder. I always thought they didn't play "Murder, She Baked: A Plum Pudding Mystery" at Christmastime since it was a murder-mystery.
Should be interesting to see how well this movie does in ratings during the Christmas season. It will likely be one of those movies I record to watch in January.
Will we see Mistletoe Murders during Miracles of Christmas on Hallmark Mystery
ReplyDeleteChris, I'm certain that's where this movie will premiere.
DeleteSo excited Hallmark is doing more mysteries. I know alot of us have been waiting for the mysteries to come. Love Sarah Drew since Everwood. I'm thinking Ben Ayres would be a good scene partner. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteCongrats Net on your success on this site & bringing us all together! π
ReplyDeleteSo I am with others opinions on this movie, I love the mystery channel, but don’t like how this one has a murder aspect with Christmas …wish it could have been more like the mystery on mistletoe lane or the legend of the lost locket. I’ll wait to see some reviews from others and see how the murder aspect is written in.
