Imagicomm Entertainment has announced BLUE RIDGE: THE SERIES to premiere Sunday, April 7th, on the Cowboy Way channel. Based on the popular film Blue Ridge, which premiered in 2020, this series is a six-episode procedural crime drama set in the lush and forbidding mountains of North Carolina.
Blue Ridge: The Series has an all-star cast with many names you are likely to recognize from previous films and TV shows.
See details on who will star and more in the press release below... Plus, I have information on where you can watch the Cowboy Way channel at the end of this post.
The crime procedural makes its exclusive worldwide premiere on April 7, 2024 on Cowboy Way FAST channel
(Indian Land, SC – January 17, 2024) – Cowboy Way channel today announced the highly anticipated debut of BLUE RIDGE: THE SERIES will premiere on Sunday, April 7th at 8PM ET. This marks the first time Hollywood movie star Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do! Texas Rising, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) takes a leading role in an episodic series, as he reprises his character from the original film, BLUE RIDGE. The announcement comes from series showrunner Gary Wheeler.
"We are thrilled to have Johnathon return to the world of BLUE RIDGE to further the character's journey across a full-length series,” said Wheeler. “In his first foray as a series lead, Johnathon’s performance is amazing. He is sharp and intuitive in this role, bringing grit and believability to Sheriff Wise’s character and to the story arc of each episode.”
Johnathon is joined by a stellar cast in Season 1, including Sarah Lancaster (Chuck, Everwood, Christmas in the Smokies) as Elli Wise; A Martinez (Longmire, The Cowboys, Dark Winds) as Connor McGrath; Taegen Burns (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, The Right Stuff, Imaginary) as Maddie Wise; Tom Proctor (Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Justified, Guardians of the Galaxy) as Jeremiah Wade; Avianna Mynhier (The Walking Dead) as Deputy Maxx Covington; and Greg Perrow (The Warrant, Festival of Trees) as Deputy RP.
Wheeler continued, “The immense talent cast in those supporting roles, along with surprise guest stars, will undoubtedly captivate audiences week after week. With performances by Bruce Boxleitner (Tron, Babylon 5, How the West Was Won, Far Haven); Max Martini (The Unit, 13 Hours, Pacific Rim); Ethan Embry (That Thing You Do!, Sweet Home Alabama, Grace and Frankie); Mike O’Hearn (American Gladiators, Mr. Universe); Erin Cahill (Cut to the Chase, Christmas on the Range); Lev Cameron (Far Haven); and Jessica McKay (WWE Star), each episode satisfies and entertains.”
Watch Johnathon Schaech's television debut in this gripping continuation of the BLUE RIDGE saga, during the exclusive worldwide premiere of BLUE RIDGE: THE SERIES on Sunday, April 7th at 8PM ET on Cowboy Way channel.

Movie/Series Review:
π Just watched the Blue Ridge movie for the first time and then the two episodes that have been released thus far. I am loving it!! So refreshing to see non-woke, old-fashioned themes in entertainment. A noble lawman who puts his life on the line for his family and his community. Masculinity depicted as something good, not toxic. Women who are strong without losing their femininity, unlike the feminist girlbosses we see in other media. A man who has taken responsibility for the mistakes that led to his divorce and is determined to win back his ex-wife. A romance in which the man serves and cares for the woman, and the woman respects and admires the man. But I think my favorite thing about the show is what it says about America. Our country has its dysfunctional subcultures, and one of those is definitely represented here by the feuding clans whose tribalistic mentality justifies violence and cheapens life. But then you have the main character who exemplifies the best of the American spirit: courage, individualism, personal responsibility, service, and traditional morals. And it’s a beautiful thing to see the best of America triumph over the worst of America. That’s one of the themes of American history and I love seeing that acknowledged. ~RC

My Quick Take:
I'm personally looking forward to seeing this all-new television series this spring, based on the movie Blue Ridge, and I'm most pleased they were able to bring back the main cast. The original film is filled with mystery and intrigue; it is a murder mystery, however, so it's best-suited for a mature audience.
If you haven't seen the original movie, Blue Ridge, hopefully, you can catch one of these upcoming encore airings: Friday, February 2, 2024, at 6pm/5c. and Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 6am/5c. on the Cowboy Way channel.
I hope you enjoyed this update and will look forward to this series.
I love Sarah Lancaster! So thank you for the heads up the movie replaying net, I’ll try to catch it and if I like it I’ll definitely watch the show!

I appreciate the encore times, too, Net. I’ll try to watch Friday. Even though I’ve seen the movie before, it’s been awhile, and I want to refresh my memory before the new episodes begin.
DeleteThis looks like my kind of show. Rob
ReplyDeleteWin-win in our household for movie viewing. Hubby likes modern day “cowboy” theme movies and I enjoy the mystery movie storyline. Will be watching.

I enjoyed the movies, so this should be a good show.
ReplyDeleteFun fact: Jonathan Schaech grew up in my county.
Is it possible to watch the new Blue Ridge series without paying $10 per month?

First, I’m not Gary, but I wanted to thank you for this link to XumoPlay. I’ve seen other comments on here talking about It, but honestly had no idea how to find it. Since cable is ridiculously expensive, I’ve been looking for alternative ways to watch TV. I didn’t know this even existed until you shared it here. I see in addition to the Cowboy channel, there are many other channels I can watch for free. Many thanks for pointing me in this direction.
DeleteAnonymous, You're welcome. I'm so glad I could share this info on XumoPlay and the Cowboy Way Channel with you. Enjoy! :)
