Roll out the Red Carpet! Exciting news was revealed today via Deadline: Danica McKellar will star and produce a new holiday-themed movie titled "Royal Christmas Ball" for Great American Family!
Danica McKellar co-wrote the story with writer, Marcy Holland. Some of Marcy Holland's well-known, impressive resume of movie stories include Matchmaker Mysteries, Christmas in Mississippi, Very, Very, Valentine, Time for You to Come Home for Christmas, Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas, Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas, Time for Him to Come Home for Christmas, and many more!
This is the storyline given for "Royal Christmas Ball" via Deadline: "Chelsea Shaw, a Chicago-based dance instructor whose adoptive parents have long since passed, travels to the small European country of Havenshire over Christmas break in search of her heritage… and maybe even family. Discovering that the only way to get access to information she needs on her quest is via the royal family, she accepts an offer to teach a very reluctant Prince a special Waltz for the traditional Royal Christmas Ball. By the end of this Christmas adventure, Chelsea finds love, answers to her deepest questions, and yes, family."
My Quick Take:
I think Christmas movie fans will be thrilled to see Danica McKellar star in another royal-themed Christmas movie. Her first non-holiday movie for Great American Family also had a royal story, The Winter Palace. In addition to that, Danica's first Hallmark Channel Christmas film, Crown for Christmas, which premiered in 2015, was and still is a fan-favorite! I'm hoping this new royal movie for Great American Family will be just as grand!

IMO there are far to many “ Royal” movies, but still willing to give it a try
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Seems like for the past five years there have been 3-4 of them.
DeleteIt sounds lovely. I'll be looking forward to watching Danica's new movie this Christmas. Thank you for posting about this. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Just hope she gets a better male lead this time around. -Maria
ReplyDeleteSounds so good. There can never be too many Royal movies.
ReplyDeleteYay! This is AWESOME news! Crown for Christmas has long been one of my favorites. It's actually one of the few royal movies done right. And wow, you're right Net, Marcy Holland does have an impressive resume of movies. The Time to Come Home for Christmas movies have been among my favorites every year. It's nice to see Great American Family working with such an accomplished writer for this project. This ups my expectations for this movie even higher, all depending on who Danica is paired with.
ReplyDeleteAt least we know the leading man won't be Neil Bledsoe which mightn't be a bad thing after the snooze-fest which was Christmas At The Drive-In.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Marcy Holland is one of the writers gives me hope.
GAF will really have to make a better effort at Christmas this year - as several regular contributors here have pointed out sadly they were knocked out of the ball-park by Hallmark last year - Florence
i love the Hallmarkie’s that compare Hallmark that was started in 2001 to Great American Family that is not even 2 years old yet. I guess that they also forget that in the beginning hallmark movies very not that great. It took time for Hallmark to make great movies.
ReplyDeleteI love the Hallmarkie’s always have to comment on every Great American Family post and tell us how great their Christmas movies were and how bad GAF were the funny more than half of them never watched a GAF movie so how do they know the movie was bad?
ReplyDeleteI can't speak for others but I certainly watch all the movies on BOTH channels except those where one of the parties has been married before - Florence
DeleteMy best friend’s husband died in a terrible accident. Why should she be denied love and a second chance? Why shouldn’t there be movies depicting this?
DeleteWho said there shouldn't be?
DeleteI don't like them and choose not to watch them, that's personal choice.
If others do that's their choice.
What is your favorite Royal movies?
ReplyDeleteI am always happy to see another Danica McKellar movie no matter what the theme. Personally, I love "Royal" movies (am such a romantic especially when there are crowns and casltes!). I like seeing that GAC is gaining steam in producing some really quality movies. I still want more of the Hallmark "regulars" to come to GAC (not necessarily exclusive) as then I am pretty much guaranteed that they will be family friendly!!!!
ReplyDeletelove royal movies
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Royal movies and especially if Danica is in it. I too am hoping for a good co-star for her. I personally enjoyed most of GAC's Christmas movies, I thought most were, and especially A Christmas...Present, top notch.
