Danica McKellar to Star in "The Winter Palace" on GAC Family in 2022 and More Original Films!

According to an EXCLUSIVE with Deadline.com: "Danica McKellar, longtime star of holiday movies for Hallmark Channel, (plus, The Wonder Years, Matchmaker Mysteries, Crown for Christmas) is getting into business with GAC Media. McKellar has signed a four-picture deal to star in and executive produce original films for the company’s flagship networks, GAC Family and GAC Living."

According to the article, Danica McKellar will star in and produce The Winter Palace, which will premiere on GAC Family in January 2022! Danica isn't the only Hallmark star to sign a multi-picture deal with GAC Media. Previously announced were: Trevor Donovan (USS Christmas, Two for the Win) and Susie Albromeit (A Perfect Christmas, Much Ado About Christmas).

This news is certainly interesting, as many actors well-known from popular Hallmark movies have already signed on to work with GAC Media this holiday season, such as: Jill Wagner, Jen Lilley and Cameron Mathison! I think Danica will be a nice addition to GAC, and I know I'm already curious to learn more about The Winter Palace. Will this be a royal-theme, like her popular Hallmark Christmas movie, Crown for Christmas or might this be an ice hotel, like Hallmark's Winter Castle?

Stay tuned!

Joyous Blessings, Net

  1. The Winter Palace is a palace in Saint Petersburg, which served as the official residence of the Russian Emperors from 1732 to 1917. As of 2021 the palace and its precincts form the Hermitage Museum. Situated between Palace Embankment & Palace Square, adjacent to the site of Peter the Great's original Winter Palace, the present & fourth Winter Palace was built & altered almost continuously between the late 1730s & 1837, when it was severely damaged by fire & immediately rebuilt.

  2. This is so wonderful! And it looks like the article says she will be making movies exclusively for GAC! Now if verizon could get this...

  3. I find this interesting as her movie last Christmas was not family-friendly. But I do usually like her movies so good for her. I wonder how many others will sign exclusive deals. I believe she’s the third after Susie Abromeit and Trevor Donovan. ~ Jennifer R.

  4. Hoping for Victor Webster to sign with GAC and make more movies with Danica. Love those two in the Matchmaker mysteries.

  5. I noticed that it mentioned only holiday movies. She could still work for Hallmark. A lot of the actors work for multiple networks.

  7. I have read elsewhere that this is a 2-year, 4-picture exclusive deal with GAC that covers holiday and rom-com films. So while it frees her to do other things for Hallmark, I would be surprised if she does.

Trevor Donavan has also signed an exclusive contract with GAC to executive produce and star in a number of films. No other favorites have signed exclusive contracts as of yet, but GAC is hoping to land other Hallmark actors as well. And I wouldn't be surprised if Hallmark tries to get exclusive contracts too (which they have never done in the past). This could get very interesting!

  8. Well, the battle lines are definitely being drawn! I just read that Paul Campbell said that he will not work for GAC if they don't have "meaningful inclusion", and he used some rather adult language in pressing his point. And Emile Ullerup said that she agrees with his stance and the fact that she is not starring in any GAC movies "speaks volumes". We will see more and more who supports our Christian values and who do not.

    1. Mark 25, I was so sorry to read this, too. I don't think things can ever really go back to the way they used to be. Everyone should have a right to believe what they like. Why can't WE just have one channel? It's very sad to see what is going on.

    2. Thanks for updates. It’s good to know where actors stand. It helps to avoid anything they are in. Will not support any that push a negative agenda.

    3. So very sad to read this as I love watching movies with Paul Campbell and Kimberly Williams together. Maybe they will on Hallmark. As a Christian, I understand the stance many are taking with GAC. However, I do not like seeing more dividing of viewers, companies, and Actors/Actresses. We must keep in mind, as we stand for truth, “They will know us by our love”.

  9. Sorry to see the path Hallmark has taken. I'm sure they will continue to lose more viewers. They used to be a family friendly channel and now...well, we all know. Has anyone heard of any more dvds coming out? I'm still hoping for Return to Christmas Creek and Christmas Bow. Also, Farewell Mr. Kringle, Window Wonderland, Finding Christmas, Thanksgiving House, Christmas on Chestnut Street, Love in Paradise and Sharing Christmas. Watched Sharing Christmas off our dvr the other night and still really enjoy that movie. Love this website. God bless you all. Stand strong. RG

    1. Bless you, RG! Thank you for this uplifting message! Glad you enjoy visiting here. I always like hearing from you!

Would love to see the DVDs you mentioned, too. We waited forever, it seems, on Matchmaker Santa and we finally got that. Maybe, someday, on these movies too! :)

  10. I was so happy to see my favorite actress moved to GAC. I love Danica's movies but could no longer tolerate the direction of hallmark and have quit watching their movies. I will not stand with ANY network caving in to the decaying morals and family values to force alternate lifestyles down our throats. Thank You GAC for standing strong for decent family programming. I LOVE your movies and the shows.

  11. What's GAC? I have no idea where this channel is. Clearly these actors have abandoned their fans and are now going into obscurity. Meanwhile those actors who were in their shadows are now in the limelight!

    1. K.L. Lawrence,

I'm happy to answer your question. GAC Media began last year in September with two channels - GAC Family and GAC Living.

GAC Family airs original TV movies and yes, you'll see many stars you are familiar with on Hallmark.

GAC Family is available through a wide variety of cable providers.

      Here are some of them:
      •U-verse Channel 1529
      •DirecTV Channel 326
      •DISH Channel 165
      •Comcast Xfinity Channel 1620

If you can't find the channel on your provider, you can also call GAC Family's toll-free hotline for more information: 855-701-2804

Hope this helps! Blessings on your day! :)

  12. I have switched to GAC recently. I love that a lot of my favorite stars are making the move. I will be sad and miss those that don't but I can no longer tolerate the direction Hallmark has taken. As a Christian, I can not and will not watch these alternate lifestyles being portrayed as normal and right. Thanks for taking a stand for family and decency in programming.

    1. Dottie, I understand how you feel. Hallmark used to be a place I felt comfortable with, day and night, but now, they no longer share my values. I still enjoy some of their movies, but it's really not the same as it used to be.

Glad to hear how much you are enjoying GAC Family!

Blessings to you in the New Year! Net
