National Memorial Day Concert
on PBS
Program Details via PBS: The National Memorial Day Concert honors our country’s veterans, service men and women and military families.
This years performers and speakers include: singers Gladys Knight, Vince Gill, Sara Bareilles, Alan Jackson, and Denyce Graves; actor Steve Buscemi; actresses Mary McCormack and Bailee Madison; Motown legends The Four Tops; the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly and more! Country music star and Grammy-nominee Mickey Guyton will open the show with a special performance of The National Anthem.
Actor Gary Sinise and Tony Award-Winner Joe Mantegna will host the National Memorial Day Concert.
(Please Note: I have found this particular Memorial Day Special to be a wonderful program over the years that honors our military, but please know, I personally do not condone some of the other programming on PBS.)
TCM -
On this Memorial Day Weekend, TCM will air Military Movies that honor our servicemen and women who have served our country through many wars and conflicts.
for His own inheritance."
Since this weekend is Memorial Day does anybody know any Veterans who passed away?
ReplyDeleteChris, if you are asking about family members, I had 4 Veterans in my immediate family who died within past 2 years.
DeleteNet, that will count what I am talking about.
DeleteMay you have a weekend with peace and love as we honor our fallen who gave the ultimate sacrifice on Memorial Day.

Thanks for info on the National Memorial Day Concert Net. I love Vince Gill and Alan Jackson. Both of these men are Christians who love this nation. I have always enjoyed these concerts. Hope nothing unexpected shows up on this one. Happy Memorial Day to everyone!
ReplyDeleteGood to see Bailee Madison's name attached to the Memorial Day Concert. I looked it up and she's going to do a dramatic reading for the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 and Gold Star Families. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day weekend. It's good to see several stations are airing patriotic themed movies/specials this year. Net you're right. Hallmark Channel should've aired some this weekend too. They missed the mark on this. Why? Call it whatever you want, but this rom-com-a-thon is no different then any other weekend. Guess I'll be watching UP and Hallmark Drama.
ReplyDeleteHallmark has won definitely-not-made-up "2021 Gold Halo Award for Best Consumer Activated Corporate Donation" for partnership with the USO on 2020 Jen Lilley-Trevor Donovan movie USS CHRISTMAS Announcement is absolutely stuffed with corporate buzzwords

Thinking of our veterans who gave all. Nice to see all the patriotic programming over the 3 day weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute, Net!
ReplyDeleteUPtv showed several movies with the military theme and I am so glad that station is showing Soldier Love Story and Alaska Love Story. Both are favs of mine.
I haven't visited a cemetery on Memorial Day until today; it was wonderful. I loved seeing all of the families paying tribute to their loved ones who have passed away. What a great day.
ReplyDeleteI know you don't personally watch Good Witch Net, but I thought other viewers should know (most probably know by now) that they are pushing a same-sex couple this season. I am so disappointed in Hallmark this year. I feel so let down, first with When Calls the Heart and now with Good Witch. I feel like they are just following the world's standards and not listening to their viewers.
I want a happy place again. Does anyone have any favorite shows/series they can recommend that are clean and happy? I'm tired of the disappointments; I need happily ever after. Hallmark has failed me :(
Kellie,
DeleteI appreciate you sharing your Memorial Day experience with us. How special for you to be a part of that touching moment. We are truly so blessed with our freedoms today.
Also, thank you for sharing this info on "Good Witch." I had heard recently this might be a possibility with this series. I've had a few others contact me today to share their disappointment, as well.
As for a series I would recommend that is clean & happy... that is so hard, as there doesn't seem to be much of that.
Of course, there are obvious older series like "Father Knows Best" or "The Waltons." Have you watched "Little Men" or "Wind at my Back?" Or... how about "Lark Rise to Candleford?" I recall it ending very happily. (Although, I do want to caution - there a few eps. that have some stories that deal with superstition, etc...)
There's also "Sue Thomas FBI!" Love that mystery drama series. Unfortunately, it only lasted 3 seasons, but I loved every episode.
I’ll try to think of some others….
I'm always searching for shows like this, too. If anyone here has any suggestions for us, please let us know!!!
Thanks Net! I’ll have to look into those ones.
DeleteFor older shows there is THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. There are westerns like GUNSMOKE, BONANZA and THE BIG VALLEY. There are mysteries like MURDER, SHE WROTE and MATLOCK. I don't think most people would find anything they thought was bad in the mysteries and westerns.
