Everybody ready for the weekend? It's incredible to think it's already the end of January, isn't it? Here where we live in the Midwest we are anticipating potentially receiving up to 8 inches of snow this weekend, so it's the ideal time for us to stay in, keep cozy and watch the "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" marathon all day on Saturday, plus, that night, it's the last New Year, New Movie with Hallmark's movie approriately named "Snowkissed," and we'll finish off with a little dessert on Sunday night, with UPtv's new premiere, "Love is a Piece of Cake." Are you expecting snow, too, this weekend or do you live in a warm winter climate? Please be sure to share in comments below!

Where did they film Snowkissed?
ReplyDeleteSnowkissed was filmed in Manitoba and Alberta in Canada! I think the setting looks absolutely incredible from all of the previews I've seen. What a beautiful place! :)
DeleteIf you want more specific location details for the movie, visit here:

Hope that helps, Chris! :)
Really looking forward to Snowkissed. I think we might see a different side Chris and Jen. Looks like so much fun with some comedy thrown in!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, I'm really looking forward to this one, too! I have a feeling lots of "When Calls the Heart" fans (like myself!) are going to be comparing Jen Lilley's chemistry with Chris McNally to hers with Kevin McGarry in "A Winter Love Story." That movie is going to be super hard to top, but I have a feeling this one will do well, too! Sure hope so! Enjoy! :)
DeleteOh good point Net! I had thought about Jen has now filmed a movie with both of these WCTH "heart throbs", but hadn't thought about comparing the chemistry. She had great chemistry with Kevin McGarry in "A Winter Love Story". I love that movie too! Hopefully this one will be just as great!
DeleteDo you earn from the mini waffle maker ? I am going to order three. Does amazon let you know ? I anxious await the SSD marathon. Thank you π
ReplyDeleteMag, Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
DeleteIf you click through the link on my site, I will earn a commission from your Amazon order of the mini waffle makers.
Aren't they too cute??? I just love all of the different colors, plus the Snowman print it's available in, especially the red hearts for Valentine's Day with heart shaped waffle! So appropriately sweet! Enjoy your purchase!
Blessings to you & Thank you! Net :)
Snowkissed is adorable.
ReplyDeleteNow there is no doubt. Jen and Kevin are much better in "A Winter Love Story" than Jen and Chris in "Snowkissed". I love both guys so that had nothing to do with it. This movie I will not keep on my DVR. It is family friendly, but I did not like the vibes I got from the guy playing Chris's partner. Strange! Did anyone else feel this or am I weird?
ReplyDeleteI loved Snowkissed. I didn't have any qualms about this movie. Am I missing something blatant in this movie? "Business partner" was stressed. I didn't feel or see anything creepy going on.
DeleteAll four main actors played their parts well. Chris showed Noah's vulnerability toward the end when Kate left. He looked like he was losing half of his heart when she left for Manhattan. I liked his acting.
At the gondola ride mountain top: paraphrased, Noah says he thinks that she is right about not wanting more, "especially when everything you ever wanted is standing right in front of you."
Namegirl, it wasn't anything specific. It was the strange vibes I got from his partner. What I found interesting is my best friend sent me an email expressing the same thing before I mentioned it to her. I have asked God for discernment in all things. Happy to hear you did not have those feelings. Thanks for your reply.
DeleteI love both Chris and Jen, so that wasn't the problem. I do feel Hallmark did not do Chris and Kevin a favor by playing them back to back in movies with Jen. After watching "A Winter Love Story" first, "Snowkissed didn't get there for me.
Denise, kitkat, & Namegrl,
DeleteThank you all for sharing your reviews of Snowkissed! Now I can't wait to see this one!
Just wanted to let you all know, I shared your reviews on the main "New Year New Movies" post - *HERE*!
Thank you all so much! :)
I haven't seen it yet but Snowkissed has received very bad reviews on other sites especially Jen Lilley's part.
ReplyDeleteI generally like her performances so it should be interesting.
Yikes! That is interesting. Wonder why they didn't like Jen's part? She seemed so sweet in the commercial.

Please give the movie a try. I did my best *not* to compare the two movies, e.g. different directors, writers, pandemic.
ReplyDeleteJen Lilley's character Kate, who does not travel outside Manhattan, goes to Banff, Canada which is outside her comfort zone. Kate has her frantic moments. Jen plays 'freaking out' perfectly in my opinion.
Namegirl, Oh yes... I'm definitely going to watch it. Jen Lilley is one of my favorites, regardless of what other people say. I love that she is a Christian and obviously cares deeply about babies and children. Maybe that's why they were negative about her, who knows. I think she's adorable... I personally love when she is dramatic! :)
DeleteMovie Guide gave "Love Is A Piece Of Cake" great reviews. For those unfamiliar with Movie Guide, it is a site that sends email notices on current movies suitable for Christians; on TV and in the theaters.
ReplyDeletekitkat, I love Movie Guide! They are great at sharing reviews of movies, especially ones typically in the theater (or now, streaming). I didn't catch that they had reviewed "Love Is A Piece Of Cake." That's wonderful to know it received such great reviews from them. I'm so glad you shared this news - Thank you! :)
DeleteI haven't watched Snow Kissed yet, but to me, from the previews, it seems an awful lot like Love on the slopes. someone who doesn't venture out of comfort zone til a guy shows her in a snowy setting. I just wish we could get a different story. I really liked Love on the Slopes so I am not interested in another movie like that.
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest and say I haven't watched a single new movie from hallmark this year. had them on my dvr, will watch two for the win eventually, and will 100% watch new Chronicle Mysteries, maybe live, and will 100% watch new Aurora and Mystery 101. I also haven't watched probably more than half of the Christmas movies. still on dvr, but when I sit down to watch, I find so many other things to watch, even something such as house hunters, or Love it or List it repeats. I don't know that my heart is really in hallmark anymore. It just seems they have chosen current events in our changing world over good stories.
I did watch a lot of the SSD in the last 2 weeks. So happy to see them played. Also watched the Love Comes Softly movies on Drama channel last sunday. I just love those movies so much.
Sad to see Magnum PI on in the Am's, but Monk is back on at 7 am, the one was on when I was leaving for work when Monk has a friend. Natalie is shocked he has a friend. I love Monk.
Sabrina, We sound like we are in the same boat when it comes to the new movies this year. I have many recorded, but haven't watched yet. I'm still finishing up on Christmas, and there's been some good ones, here and there, but it seems most have been the same, cookie-cutter story or just plain silly. Sometimes when I watch a really bad one, I can't help but to wonder why so many people took so much effort to make such a terrible movie.
DeleteBut thankfully, like I said, there have been some good ones! Just recently, I really enjoyed "Unlocking Christmas!" I think that's my favorite Taylor Cole movie ever now and Steve Lund was his fun self, as always!
Plus, I recently enjoyed "Project Christmas Wish!" That one is super cute!
Like you, I also loved the "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" Marathons the last two weekends; I'm really going to miss that this weekend. I didn't catch the "Love Comes Softly" marathon, but I know just what you mean about getting caught up in those movies, too. Before the movies ever existed, my Aunt gave me four of the Love Comes Softly books by Janette Oke in a set for Christmas, and I've loved the stories ever since.
Glad you are enjoying watching Monk in the mornings! I just love those shows... I think they are the best mysteries!
Net, this is a WCTH question. Since I don't watch this series but love both Kevin and Chris, which guy has best chemistry with Erin? Your thoughts please!
ReplyDeletekitkat, Well... I'm probably a bit biased here, full disclosure if you haven't already read it here somewhere - I'm 100% Team Nathan; therefore, I personally see a deeper chemistry with Kevin McGarry.
DeleteThe Lucas character played by Chris McNally is the saloon owner; he's suave and debonair, always knows what to say, and is great at lavishing Elizabeth with gifts.
Mountie Nathan Grant, on the other hand, is laid back, always there when needed, friendly to talk with, yet he is sometimes a little tongue-tied when he tries to talk to Elizabeth. It's very cute. Plus, he is raising his niece on his own, so he and Elizabeth have the single-parent connection. To me, the Nathan character is more attractive, but I know there are still plenty of viewers who like Lucas better.
It should be interesting to see how Season 8 goes, but my heart is pulling for Nathan! π
Thanks Net! Watching Kevin and Chris in movies, that would be my pick too. There is something about Kevin! He comes across as genuinely caring about how his co-stars are perceived. There is a gentleness about Kevin McGarry!
DeleteI did not see your previous comment.
Our favorite new movies of the year are: Taking a Shot at Love, New Years Resolution, and Snowkissed. Loved every one of them and hoping for dvd releases on all of them. Also, hoping for dvd releases of On the Twelfth Day of Christmas, Return to Christmas Creek, One Royal Holiday, On the Twelfth Date of Christmas, Christmas Bow, Christmas Ring, Christmas Doctor, A Little Christmas Charm, Deliver by Christmas, Christmas Cottage, Mingle All the Way, Thanksgiving House and Love at Paradise. All these would be great to have on dvd. Hope Hallmark will come through for us all.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful DVD Wish List! Hope we see more of these released soon, especially On the Twelfth Day of Christmas! It seems like we've been waiting forever for that one! :)
DeleteI have a feeling we will see some of the recent Christmas movies you mentioned, but lets hope they add in some of the older Christmas classics, too!
I didn't care about Snowkissed it was so boring that I fell asleep.
ReplyDeleteChris, thank you for sharing... I guess some movies aren't for everybody.
DeleteHad a hard time getting past the first 45 minutes of Snow Kissed. Chris seemed to be tense and not his usual acting ability. Jen was over kill in her character, but that did improve and well as Chris's acting as the movie progressed. I did get the vibes from Chris and his business partner that "kitkat" mentioned in her review. It was very uncomfortable. I might would watch it again, not sure at this point. Hallmark is not making the quality movies they once were. The mystery series as usually much better.
ReplyDeleteJoyce, I'm sure kitkat will appreciate knowing you had the same feeling on this movie. I thought Chris seemed a little stiff in the promo, but I thought maybe, that was just me. It's still on my watch list.
DeleteBy the way, I love the mysteries, too. They are definitely less predictable than the rom-coms, so it's more fun to watch and try to solve who-dun-it!
Thank you so much for sharing! :)
Thank you Joyce! There was something there for sure. I will not watch it again. Perhaps that was why Chris was not himself in "Snowkissed". I feel better knowing someone else felt it too.
DeleteI also love the mysteries! Looking forward to the new episodes.
Kitkat & Joyce - Great minds think alike! :)
DeleteThanks Net!! Lol! I agree!
DeleteSeems that mmany are comparing Snowkissed with the Jen Lilley/ Kevin McGarry movie A Winter Love Story - now it was one of the best Hallmark movies last year so it was always going to be hard for Snowkissed to equal it.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that I'm really surprised by all the negative comments Snowkissed has been receiving.
When I saw the New Year's list this was the one that caught my eye as I like Jen Lilley and I was so excited to see the return of Chris McNally.
However after reading the reviews I wasn't expecting a lot from it.
There was a movie last Christmas from Lifetime which involved a veterinary surgeon and one of your contributors picked up on vibes between the two partners.
Strangely both my husband and myself also got these although it seemed to more the partner than the hero himself - he seemed to want to touch him a lot.
However neither of us picked up anything untoward between the two guys in Snowkissed - they were simply two partners in a business venture who had a great bond of friendship.
I think both Jen and Chris played their parts well - Jen portraying someone who was way out of her comfort zone, I liked the chemistry between the two and the plot was quite interesting.
Unusually for Hallmark the ending was pretty good too - I particularly liked the way each showed their vulnerability yet determination.
Now it may very well be that the low expectations made this seem better than it was but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If I was rating it I would give it a 7.5 out of 10.
Trevor Donovan seems to be very busy.
DeleteHe's got a role as John Bareletta in the upcoming movie Reagan (about the former President) - maybe this is his chance to move into the mainstream.
He's also got a forthcoming movie called Renovate My Heart - now that sounds as if it could very well be a Hallmark one!
I find Greyston Holt very hit and miss.
ReplyDeleteHe was good in Cross Country Christmas - it wasn't so much him here but the movie was rather dull, it took a really long time to really get started and continued at a pretty slow place.
Mu Mum used to have a saying "too sweet to be wholesome" and this is what I thought about his young daughter here - I think she was just put into the movie to arouse viewers' sympathies.
The gut that Jessie had hired to look after the Bakery's books and its future progress was an odd character.
Certainly family friendly though.
