PLOT:

Storyline via UP: A talented host and designer of a high-end renovation television show is forced to change her show format to include life makeovers as well after her ratings dip. However, when she tries to upscale the handsome and down-to-Earth subject of her first episode, she must choose between chasing ratings or following her heart.

REVIEWS:

"Watched "Blueprint To The Heart" on UP and really liked it. The story line was different." ~kitkat

"Blueprint to the Heart is a rather cute movie. You can see some sparks between the leads, even though they disagree quite frequently. Cautions: Comments are made near the beginning of the movie that imply both Tiffany and Brooks were possibly living with their previous exes. The comments are not overly obvious and definitely not vulgar. Also, another note of caution, a man is shirtless when he is working on renovations. It's actually a funny scene where water is gushing out of the sink and he removes his shirt quickly to try to stop it and hold it back. I was laughing pretty hard at that moment. Minus those two cautions, I would say it was family friendly." ~Net

"I ended up really enjoying Blueprint To The Heart. It didn't begin too well but fortunately once we start watching a movie we stay with it to the end and this one really picked up, the second half was really good. I liked the two leads particularly Dennis Andres (didn't mind the shirtless scene at all!) and thought that there was some good chemistry between them. The plot was a bit different and it was nice to see some familiar faces from Hallmark in secondary roles. Well worth a watch." ~Anonymous

"Finally got round to watching Blueprint To The Heart and like everyine else thorough enjoyed it - in fact it os ine of my favourite movies to date this year. Never heard of Laura Mitchell before and while the name Dennis Andres seemed familair din't recognise the face at all. It was a bit slow to start but once it got going it kept improving and really held your interest. The plot was a bit different, there were a number of humorous scenes and I found great chemistry between the leads. The secondary cast were good two and Tiffany's ex-boyfriend wasn't a bad guy at all. Maybe I picked it up wrong but I thought Brooks was actually divorced? What really made this for me was a wonderful last quarter hour and in particular ending. Memo to Hallmark, please take note - nthis is how you should be ending your movies! I'm going to be watching out for Dennis Andres in the future. An unexpected delight." ~Anonymous

The Baby Proposal

Also Known As: ComeBack Kid

Original Air Date: January 17, 2021

CAST:

Alexandra Chando... Layla
Mike Merrill... Derrick
Elizabeth Braun... Allie
Chuti Tiu... Sarah
Ashley Love-Mills... Hannah
Candace Counts... Mia
Diahnna Nicole Baxter... Annie
Seth Goodfellow... Brad
Malerie Grady... Fan #3
Racquel Bianca John... Julie
Jesse Malinowski... Beau
Nicole Sellars... Reporter #1
Lesa Wilson ... Zoey

PLOT:

Layla Bennett has it all figured out, her own place, a thriving career and a loving fiancΓ©. She co-hosts morning show Wake Up Chicago! Alongside her charming but sometimes irritating colleague Derek Dray. They have different working styles. She likes to be spontaneous and improvise on air, while he’s more of a stick to the script guy. When they’re given the bombshell of caring for a baby together, it’s their worst nightmare…But as they juggle night feeds and nap times with their hectic lives, they can’t deny the growing chemistry. Is this unexpected arrival all they needed to realize they were meant to be?

REVIEWS:

"The Baby Proposal is lighthearted and Family Friendly. The leads are co-workers who mostly disagree, but are unexpectedly given the challenge of caring for an infant baby girl, who is absolutely adorable. Reporters accuse the co-workers of having “an affair,” which is 100% not true. Other than that comment, it is G rated. To be honest, I didn't really see a love connection between the leads. They seemed more like friends to me." ~Net

"I forgot to that I thought The Baby Proposal was VERY BORING. I think the actors were pretty good, but the script was just not good. Too bad. Oh, and the actress playing her publicist or whatever was horrible." ~Misty

"I think that The Baby Proposal was a really nice movie! The baby was cute, the plot line was interesting, and it didn't progress too quickly. It kept me interested until the end, and the ending was sweet. I was very pleased." ~Anonymous

Romance Retreat

Original Air Date: January 24, 2021

CAST:

Amanda Schull ... Dana Willingham
Morgan David Jones ... Stefan Gonzales
Eric Hicks ... Jon
Patrice Goodman ... Catherine Fontes
Sidney Leeder ... Nicola
Toni Ellwand ... Harriet Lippi
Jamie Spilchuk ... Felix Moore
Peyson Rock ... Ian
John Novak ... Raymond Lippi
Rishma Malik Scott ... Quinn Moore
A.C. Peterson ... Bradley Tiffin
Melissa Williams ... Yoga Instructor

PLOT:

After a big breakup, journalist Dana Willingham finds herself alone and stuck at a couple’s yoga retreat while the biggest story of her career breaks far away. And she doesn’t even like yoga! But maybe the universe has put her here for a reason, because the handsome loner staying at the lodge turns out to be Stefan Gonzales, the tech guru at the center of the scandal. As she gains his trust to expose him, she finds herself falling in love with him. Now she must use the lessons from yoga to choose: the perfect story or the perfect man?

REVIEWS:

"Romance Retreat – Not a keeper for me. First of all, I loved the actors, especially Amanda Schull – she was fantastic and truly adorable to watch, but this story was just not to my liking. There was a lot of bazaar yoga stuff going on throughout the entire movie. I can deal with watching a short yoga scene where people do a little exercise and stretching, but this went way beyond that with some odd meditation scenes and drumming around a fire, etc... I almost turned it off, but I ended up fast-forwarding through those parts, because I don’t believe as a Christian, in that sort of thing. It honestly gave me a weird vibe. All of the people at the retreat who were very much in to the yoga ALL acted very odd and beyond strange, like they were in some kind of weird hippie cult. The romance between Dana (Amanda Schull) and Stefan (Morgan David Jones) was cute, but it definitely wasn’t enough to save the movie for me." ~Net

"Romance Retreat had a good storyline, but there was way too much 'yoga'/new age stuff in it. However, there are many people who love yoga who will like it. I did not like the main characters, but they had good chemistry for the most part. I cannot say if it's 'family friendly', because I really didn't watch all the way. ~Misty

"Romance Retreat-- I like Amanda Schull a lot and Morgan David Jones was great. It was a little slow at first, but I would watch it again. It was funny. Seemed appropriate although I think it was implied Dana and her boyfriend Jon were going to be sharing a room, but it didn't happen and I am thinking it was implied but it might not have been at all. This was a great movie about taking time to enjoy life rather than blowing thru it and also about doing what is right even if it means putting yourself out there." ~Sabrina

Love is a Piece of Cake

Original Air Date: January 31, 2021

CAST:

Lindsey Gort ... Jessie Dale
Greyston Holt ... Aidan Cooper
Julia Benson ... Suzanne Cooper
Lindsay Winch ... Beatrice
Jaime M. Callica ... Howard
Mila Jones ... Riley Cooper
Colleen Wheeler ... Clara Dale
Jo Miro ... Minister
Christian Sloan ... Evan Miller
Amelia Burstyn ... Party Goer
Amanda Wong ... Reporter
Levi Wall ... Worker
Fritzy-Klevans Destine ... Baker

PLOT:

Jessie Dale is a third generation baker who loves her cake shop more than anything in the world. When developers threaten to buy her building and force her out, she must do all she can to save her bakery, all while juggling a blossoming romance with her client’s brother.

REVIEWS:

"Love is a Piece of Cake is such a sweet movie! Very family friendly. The leads, Jessie Dale (Lindsey Gort) and Aidan Cooper (Greyston Holt) were great together, instantly I felt a connection between them. I loved how Jessie was committed to her bake shop and the sentimental history it held for her with her grandmother. Her staff/friends at the bakery were great and very supportive, especially when Jessie was struggling to financially keep her business. Aidan's daughter Riley was absolutely adorable, a scene stealer! (His wife has passed away) I think it was mentioned once that little girl was 5 years old, but she looked and acted more like a very cute 3 year old. Her acting didn't seem like acting at all; she seemed very real. Overall, this is such a sweet, lighthearted, feel-good movie." ~Net

"I find Greyston Holt very hit and miss. He was good in Cross Country Christmas - it wasn't so much him here but the movie was rather dull, it took a really long time to really get started and continued at a pretty slow place. Mu Mum used to have a saying "too sweet to be wholesome" and this is what I thought about his young daughter here - I think she was just put into the movie to arouse viewers' sympathies. The gut that Jessie had hired to look after the Bakery's books and its future progress was an odd character. Certainly family friendly though." ~Anonymous

"Love is a Piece of Cake. Really cute movie; I'm glad I watched it. I liked all the actors & actresses, the little girl was precious, and the employees at the bakery were fun characters. There was a moment in the romance where the heroine jumps to silly conclusions - I hate that in books and in movies - but it was a quick blip and was resolved satisfactorily. Family friendly, sweet movie." ~~Jane

    1. Happy New Year to you! It was a special event for UP to have the "Little House on the Prairie" marathon this holiday week, but they do play it quite a bit on the weekends too.

Looks like their weekend schedule in the new year includes more movies. I'll be sure to keep you posted on any new premieres! :)

    2. I've been waiting for that one, too. I kept thinking we might see "Just For The Summer" pop up on Hallmark last Summer or even Fall, due to the fact they couldn't film last spring because of the virus, but *SURPRISE* UP snatched it *UP*!!!

I'm so happy we are finally going to see this one, too!

Anyway, I mentioned in the post above that we are going to see "Just for the Summer," plus "Hint of Love" starring Debs Howard and Dennis Andres, "Love is a Piece of Cake" starring Greyston Holt and Lindsey Gort and many more - coming up on UPtv Sunday nights!

      More details to come!

I can not get your newsletter to come through! It is not reaching my computer at all. I have Windows 10. Could this be the problem?

  4. UP is a faith based, family friendly channel. If you get the station, I'd advise giving them a shot. Also they have an app on Roku for less than $5. I haven't seen anything untoward on their shows.

    1. Yes, UPtv is great! Most of their programming is family friendly, but there are some movies I would caution as not being family friendly, including "A Puppy for Christmas," "Girlfriends of Christmas Past," "Married by Christmas," and I would caution some adult dialogue in "Christmas on Holly Lane."

Otherwise, like you, I have seen a lot of wonderful family-friendly movies on their channel.

  5. What I love about UP is no promos for gay movies! Gave Lifetime up completely because of the promos. Enough is enough! So far, the movies I watched on UP have all been family friendly. It is so nice to relax while watching TV and not be faced with offensive material. Thanks Net for the caution on some of the UP movies. Appreciated so much!
