I hope you've all had a nice Thanksgiving week, thus far, and will be able to enjoy some relaxing time this weekend. I was blessed to be able to share Thanksgiving Day with my dear family. There's nothing like everyone coming home for the holidays. I'm hoping to settle in this Saturday & Sunday with some yummy leftovers and watch some Christmas movies I've missed and hopefully some new premieres, too. We used to always put our Christmas tree up traditionally this weekend, but we've started doing that in mid-October now, since the time seems to fly by so quickly. Do you have any special traditions this weekend? Do you shop on Black Friday? I know there are many changes this year, but I hope we'll all still find ways to make this Christmas Season special.
You can also see my Christmas TV Movie Schedule - *here*, which includes NEW Christmas Movie Premieres and Christmas classics.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy many delightful Christmas movies - old and new!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

ReplyDeleteA woman dumped by her fiancΓ© a month before her storybook Christmas wedding decides to take the series of ballroom lessons intended for her wedding dance.
The movie starts, not surprisingly, with incredible ballroom dancing. Avery watches dance videos and dreams of an elaborate wedding dance. Then she rushes off to meet her fiance David to taste wedding cakes during their lunch breaks. David is preoccupied with work and barely pays attention to the cake. (Who ignores cake?) He doesn’t even book the dance lessons for the big day. David wants to table the wedding for now as he takes a job out of town. Avery tells him not to bother and breaks up with him.
While recapping to her BFF, Avery gets a call from the dance studio about her upcoming appointment. Avery stops by the dance studio and tries to cancel her wedding dance rehearsals because the wedding is off. The hunky dance instructor offers for Avery to keep the classes, and after thinking about it, Avery decides to make the time for something for herself. After taking a class, though, she gets frustrated and quits.
After a talk with her BFF (while decorating a Christmas tree.) Avery decides to go back to the studio and tries again with the hunky dancer/dance instructor. She walks in on him, impressively rehearsing with his dance partner/studio-co-owner.
Roman, the dance instructor, takes Avery out for a figure staking lesson instead of a dance lesson. Once they are outside, they quickly start snowball fighting… because this IS a Christmas movie. Avery slips on some ice and knocks Roman unconscious, sending him to the hospital. The ER doctor mistakes them as husband and wife, discharges Roman into Avery’s care, and warns he could have a concussion. Avery takes him home and cares for him the next morning with homemade breakfast. They talk while Roman plays with Christmas nesting dolls. Then he dances around like Charlie Chaplin. I guess he is better!
Dance lessons resume, and the sparks fly when Avery and Roman start to feel something brewing. The dance lessons begin to open up Avery to new experiences. She is more confident and self-assured. (Especially for just ending an engagement.) Roman invites her to his family’s Christmas party, and she agrees to join him.
At the family gathering, Avery and Roman share some wine and help cook in the kitchen. (Even though Avery is not a chef.) Everyone is welcoming to the new guest. Roman walks Avery home, and they have a “LaLa land” style dance in the street. It is very fun.
Roman invites Avery to his Christmas Waltz performance, which happens to fall on the same night as her old wedding date. Is it a sign? She invites her parents to join her and leaves the tickets with the doorman. Roman takes Avery to look at a space for his potential new dance studio where they dance around. Since things are going well, David shows up and asks her to take him back. Leaving her dozens and dozens of roses in her office. David THEN goes to the dance studio and talks to Roman and says he is going to get his fiance back. This machismo display deters Roman from pursuing Avery further.
Avery notices that Roman is acting cooly when she attempts to book ten more dance classes. The final dance session is lifeless, and without the passion she felt before. Avery rushes out of class upset. Then she meets up with David, who proposes again, this time with light-up ring box!!! Avery declines and learns that David talked with Roman. (Which explains the shoulder.)
It is the night of the performance and Elina is stuck in traffic. Roman calls Avery backstage and asks her to go on with him. Avery clears things up about David and they go onstage to perform. It is incredible. Then they kiss! Then end!
I’m so frustrated USS Christmas has no closed caption on TV but I use my phone to watch USS Christmas that has closed captioning q
ReplyDeleteThank you for making us aware of this. I'm sorry they didn't provide closed captioning for you on your TV, but I'm glad you were able to figure out a way to watch. Perhaps this information will help others. Again, thank you!
DeleteI watched USS Christmas again last December 1, 2020 had no closed captions
DeleteI used my phone Hallmark App to watch USS Christmas that has closed captions but I notice it Track 99 doesn’t look like closed captions in English when I check it there’s closed captions when it’s frozen but it’s aupppsed to be continue
They better put closed captions on both HC & HMM for movies & even there’s new movies
3rd time a charm that USS Christmas has no closed captions again tonight
Delete5 star Christmas was a wonderful departure from the usual plots. It really felt more of an ensemble script rather than a duet between leads. The film is very family friendly. They really purposed to make this a comedy and it shows. I laughed out loud more than once, and I'm a hard sell. The chemistry between the leads felt genuine as they are friends in real life. My only downside was there just isn't much room for the romance because all the cast gets a good amount of screen time. I would watch it again. Great film.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marie, for sharing this fantastic review... I added it to Christmas Movie Review Page! Looking forward to watching this one.
DeleteIf I Only Had Christmas
ReplyDeleteWizard of Oz references I’ve counted so far-Darcy GALE, Jackie CROW, Bridget TINSLEY, LYONS, Winona WEST, William AUSTIN
This was a great movie! Loved the Wizard of Oz references.
Darcy told me thata great leadership requires empathy, vision, and transparency. . . I must confess I am not Glenn Goodman, I am William Austin
It’s starting to click. Those trees in the background. . looks kinda like Emerald City, huh?! Haha! Loving all the parallels to The Wizard of Oz.
when Glenn aka William surprised Darcy with the ruby red slippers!
'If I Only Had Christmas': Candace Cameron Bure Says Her New Hallmark Christmas Movie Is Inspired By 'The Wizard of Oz
A Nashville Christmas Carol = Christmas Carol (pick any version of it) The Christmas Waltz = Dirty Dancing Christmas by Starlight = Two Weeks Notice If I Only Had Christmas = The Wizard of Oz
#IfIOnlyHadChristmas was great! I especially loved that the guy was willing to move to the smaller town for the woman. I loved all the nods to Wizard of Oz. #CountdownToChristmas & you have done it again. Job well done!
This was a great movie! Loved the Wizard of Oz references .
That snake Jacket ! and the references to the wizard of Oz
Wow. What a script! Tonight's movie was such a clever reworking of the Wizard of Oz as a Hallmark Christmas movie. I tweet in awe of your talent.
I especially loved that the guy was willing to move to the smaller town for the woman. I loved all the nods to Wizard of Oz.
They should have called it "If I Only Had A Christmas." The last name of the lead female character is Gale. Her stepmother's name is Emma. There's a wicked witch character, a wizard character, a cowardly lion. There are also 2 women who are the Scarecrow & the Tin Man
William/Glen: "I've heard there's no place like Kansas City." Darcy: "There's no place like home."
A Nashville Christmas Carol = Christmas Carol (pick any version of it)
Christmas Waltz = Dirty Dancing/Singing in the Rain Christmas by Starlight = Two Weeks Notice
If I Only Had Christmas = The Wizard of Oz
If its wizard of oz themed the title should be If I Only Had A Christmas.
William Austin = the wizard of Oz, because Ozzzztin.
What!!! A twist there at the end!! How?!!
I think the most likely candidate for Hallmark Hall of Fame status, if they have one at all this year, is Candace Cameron Bure's IF I ONLY HAD CHRISTMAS. Shockingly CCB has never been in a HHOF movie
ReplyDelete5 Star Christmas
ReplyDeleteLoving Five Star Christmas! Fantastic fun hilarious entertainment!
'If I Only Had Christmas' is Hallmark's holiday homage to The Wizard of Oz. "There's no place like home." So True!

ReplyDeleteThis movie was super cute & I loved all the hints to Wizard of Oz. It was EXTREMELY predictable due to the connections to Wizard of Oz, but still pretty cute!
What a perfect ending! With Darcy Gale & William Austin

ReplyDeleteI hope Hallmark will make Memorial Day Movie about USO since For Love & Honor
"Christmas by Starlight" is not family friendly. There is a same sex married couple in it. That came to the forefront about a third of the way into the movie. :-( I turned it off since it was upsetting.

2020 will be only the second time since 2014 that Candace Cameron Bure hasn't starred in the highest-rate debut on Hallmark Channel, though she still holds the record for highest-rated debut in Hallmark history (5.75 million for CHRISTMAS UNDER WRAPS)
ReplyDeleteIn case you were unclear on who the Hallmark Christmas Queen was, Candace Cameron Bure has had highest-rated premiere, of holidays and whole year, in 5 of past 6 seasons, starting with highest Hallmark numbers of all-time for 2014's CHRISTMAS UNDER WRAPS (5.75 million viewers)
Hallmark later reported that SHOE ADDICT'S was still, overall, the most watched movie of the season when factoring in repeats.
Also notable that, after years of growing ratings and Thanksgiving week debuts nabbing 4 and even 5 million+ viewers, top-rated premiere for Hallmark in 2019, CHRISTMAS TOWN, couldn't crack 4 million— first time that had happened for the channel since 2012
I wonder if Hallmark are taking note that the movies with same sex relationships are getting far fewer viewers than the norm.
ReplyDeleteFar and away the two most watched Christmas movies to date are those starring Candace Cameron Bure and Lacey Chabert both just under 4 million.
Interestingly though Lacey just pips Candace who has had gthe most watched Christmas movie for several years now.
Probably a big mistake to put USS Christmas on the Movies & Mysteries Channel.
It has the biggest viewing figures there but could have scored heavily on the main channel.
Time For Us To Come Home For Christmas has overtaken USS Christmas as the most watched 2020 Christmas movie to date on the HMM Channel - this means that Lacey Chabert now has the Season's most viewed movie on the two top hallmark Channels.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Candace Candace Bure will have to pass over her crown to Lacey!¬
For me my favorite Candace Cameron Bure Movies are Christmas Under Wraps and Christmas Town.
