Network Announces Return of Popular Franchises “Fall Harvest” and Award-Winning “Countdown to Christmas”

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – July 26, 2018 – Hallmark Channel, the country’s leading provider of family-friendly entertainment, stakes its claim as the weekend destination for all-new, original programming every Saturday and Sunday for the remainder of 2018. The new offering features six autumnal-themed premieres as part of the network’s highly rated “Fall Harvest” event, as well as 22 new, original holiday movies premiering during the #1 “Countdown to Christmas” slate. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ bi-annual Television Critics Association Press Tour.

“Fall Harvest” kicks off Saturday, September 22, and features celebrated favorites including the third installment of the “All of My Heart” movie series starring Lacey Chabert (“Mean Girls,” “Party of Five”) and Brennan Elliott (“Unreal”). The season culminates with the network’s longest-running movie franchise “Good Witch Halloween” starring Catherine Bell (“Army Wives,” “JAG”), Bailee Madison (“The Fosters”) and James Denton (“Devious Maids,” “Desperate Housewives”).

The network’s highly rated “Countdown to Christmas” franchise features 22 movies, including network debuts by world-renowned country artists LeAnn Rimes and Kellie Pickler. As cable’s #1 holiday destination, Hallmark Channel will continue to bring holiday cheer and the spirit of the season to families across the nation.

“While competitors try to enter the holiday landscape, we continue to dominate and own Christmas programming,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We will continue on our promise to deliver the high-quality, seasonal content that is at the heart of our brand.”

Last year, the six 2017 “Fall Harvest” movie premieres combined to reach more than 11.7 million unduplicated total viewers and delivered the #1 movie of the week for five consecutive weeks. In 2017, Q4 was Hallmark Channel’s highest rated and most watched quarter ever in network history in total day and prime time among households, W18-49, W25-54, A18-49, A2554 and Total Viewers. Overall, “Countdown to Christmas” reached an impressive 72 million viewers.*

  1. If the “Fall Harvest” line-up starts on September 22nd, does that mean that Wedding of Dreams (which premieres September 8th) will not belong to any seasonal line-up? Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t LeAnn Rimes star in a Hallmark movie back in 1997 called “Holiday in Your Heart”? I’m surprised that detail wasn’t mentioned in Hallmark’s press release.

    1. Only time will tell how they fill up the schedule for Fall Harvest. Since they didn't announce ALL the films in this press release, they must be still working out the details there, and we know, schedules change quite frequently, sometimes even at the last possible second, it seems.

And, yes, since Hallmark announced "Wedding of Dreams" is premiering September 8th... that date officially makes it an in-between movie. (unless they change it!)

I also recall LeAnn Rimes Christmas movie 'Holiday in Your Heart'! It first premiered on local network TV, ABC... so, it's not a Hallmark original movie. But, even so, I do think that would have been an interesting detail to include as part of her acting resume. LeAnn's song, also titled, "Holiday in Your Heart," was quite catchy then, as well.

  2. Wow! Am I reading this statement correctly, that there will be new movie premiers every Saturday and Sunday for the remainder of the year? That is amazingly awesome! Or is this a word trick, meaning that they will continue to play movies that are original movies/content for the remainder of the year and not necessarily "new" movie premiers?

    1. I'm sure the schedule is still being worked out, but it sounds like we better get our DVRs ready now for lots of new Hallmark movies coming round the bend! :)

    1. According to whatsfilming (http://www.whatsfilming.ca/2016/08/17/autumn-in-the-vineyard-pumpkin-pie-wars-hallmarks-fall-harvest) the movie was filmed in British Columbia.
Here a direct quote from What's Filming:
Production started on Sunday, August 14th (2016) with the first 3 days being spent at Singletree Winery in Abbotsford. Not surprisingly, the movie will also be spending some time in BC’s Okanagan Valley. The area is home to around 170 wineries including River Stone Estate Winery in Oliver where Autumn in the Vineyard will film for multiple days. The Okanagan Valley is often compared to California’s Napa Valley where this story is set.

Hope that information is helpful to you; it is, indeed, such a lovely setting for the movie!
