The announcement was made today to a semi-annual gathering of the Television Critics Association in Pasadena. The network announced development projects with Al Roker based on his book series of murder mysteries featuring Billy Blessing, a celebrity chef turned amateur detective as well as a new mystery franchise series with Holly Robinson Peete.

With her reputation suddenly in jeopardy due to the ruthless machinations of a disgruntled rival and a second suspicious death heartbreakingly close to home, Emma must unearth a killer among the artifacts. Cara also learns the devastating news that her mother is dying and won’t live past the summer. This news flips a switch in Cara, who suddenly realizes that she doesn’t have much time to make amends with the woman who she’s spent so much of her life resenting. The fictional talk show in Al Roker's book is more like the Today show but I guess they used the compairson of Home & Family to plug that show.
ReplyDeleteWow! I didn't know Al Roker wrote mystery books! LOL A lot of new mystery movies to watch!
ReplyDeleteMisty
Oh! No! I do not see Brooke Shields Mystery Movies on here :0( Are they not going to be making anymore movies?
ReplyDeleteLive to know the answer to that
DeleteMe, too!!

DeletePlease bring Brooke Shields back!! A lot of my friends are not watching the Hallmark Channel.
DeleteI love Flower Shop Mystery shows. Keep Jewel, bring Brooke back!
DeletePlease bring Brooke Shields back! I enjoy the others also but Brooke just completes the group. Thank you.
DeletePlease bring Brooke Shields back! I feel like I grew up with her on television. She adds to the wonderful women leading roles on Hallmark TV. I love her! Thanks
DeletePlease bring back Flower Shop mysteries. Please!
DeletePls bring back another Flower Shop Mystery with Brooke Shields.
DeletePlease bring back Flower Shop Mystery with Brooke Shields. Miss it. Watching reruns tonight on Hallmark.
DeleteI loved the Flower Shop Mystery movies!! Where did they go? I don't care for Jewel's show, or Hailey Dean, but love Garage Sale Mysteries and Aurora Teagarden! I'm looking forward to Al Roker's show.
DeleteBrooke Shields is terrific in Flower Shop Mystery. Pls bring her back.
DeleteI LOVE her movies BEST!! Another vote to bring her movies back (or continue)
DeletePlease, please bring back Brooke and her Flower Shop Mysteries. I am watching a repeat of Dearly Depotted now and it reminded me of how much I have missed this series in the mystery movie specials. Looking forward to some new ones and enjoy old favorites, but I really miss Brooke and was disappointed at not seeing any new episodes.
DeletePlease. Please bring back Brooke and her Flower Shop Mysteries. I love all of the old mystery women favorites and am looking forward to the new series, but was very dissapointed that I haven't seen any new Flower Shop movies this year.
DeleteI just found it this past year. Repeats I guess. There were 2. I think Brooke Shields character is hysterical. Please Bring Back!

DeleteI also would love to see more of Brooke Shields and the Flower Shop Mystery's.
DeleteI want more Flower Shop Mysteries with Brooke Shields ! Please ! I don't enjoy some of the new mysteries half as much as the flower shop mysteries .
DeleteMissing Brooke Shields' Flower Shop Mysteries and the great cast that complete the series.
DeleteI want to know that answer as well. She is a good actress and I like who she plays funny but smart. The other ladies are too stiff on the other shows that are still running.
DeleteI hope to hear it has another Flower Shop Mystery lined up
I love that show. I was wondering that myself.
DeleteI'm so excited for the new SSD and Aurora Teagarden movies.
ReplyDeleteIsn't It's a Crime is about a Texas Ranger --- starring Bruce Boxleitner not on the list? When it will air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I didn't hear anything on this one. It may still be under the radar in development, or they may have passed on it.
DeleteI was practically dizzy with the details as they were rolling in. I was glued to social media last night, absorbing all of the photos of people arriving at the event, listening to/watching the announcements that some of them made, and then reading the flurry of press releases that came out.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot to deal with at one time! It seemed like this was a bigger and grander event than the Summer TCA Tour in July, and even a bit bigger in scope than the Winter 2016 event... although I could be imagining it.
I could barely let one surprising thing sink in (like the fact that Hallmark is developing projects with Holly Robinson Peete, Kathie Lee Gifford and Al Roker), before another 10 announcements popped up!
There is so much information distributed among the different press releases... BUT... then some of the actors at the party start announcing things that they are doing, which are not mentioned in any press releases (such as Alicia Witt announcing her Christmas 2017 movie that is without a title, based on a story that she is developing herself).
And then... some of the members of the press who attend the event start posting little tidbits on social media that are not mentioned in press releases, such as...
Last night one member of the press revealed on social media that Hallmark is now trying to make 30 -- yes, THIRTY -- Christmas movies this year (distributed between the 2 channels). That immediately wiped out their original plan of going for 29 Christmas movies in 2018! Forget 29 next year -- now they are going for 30 Christmas movies in 2017! Astounding. I mean... WOW.
Also, Hallmark will then start posting little nuggets of info on their social media pages, such as that they are aiming for a total of 90 movies this year!!!!!! (Clearly, Hallmark abandoned the "85 movie" plan and aimed higher for 2017.)
Thirty-five of those 90 movies will go to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and the other 55 will go to the main Hallmark Channel.
And, of course, 30 of those 90 movies will be Christmas movies!
I would guess at that least 20 of the 30 Christmas movies will go to the main channel (meaning at least 19 during the Countdown to Christmas and at least one new one in July), leaving the rest (anywhere from 8 to 10) to go to HMM.
Plus, there were people at the event last night who did not make any announcements, but you know they will end up in something this year or next year, like Victor Webster (who may or may not be doing "Christmas Villa," but I suspect he is in another project).... and Alexa PenaVega... and Bruce Davison.
It was strange to see Andrew Walker with full facial hair -- I almost didn't recognize him.
And what a surprise to learn that Darrow & Darrow and The Beach House are FINALLY going forward!
But, conspicuously absent from this event were Autumn Reeser (yep... I think she has fled the Hallmark family for a while) and any mentions of Mariah Carey and Jennifer Love Hewitt! No Brooke Shields either!
Jewel Kilcher was not there, as she was sick. Danica McKellar and Lacey Chabert were not there -- I guess they didn't feel like making the journey from Canada to L.A. if it wasn't necessary. And no Lori Loughlin either!
I was surprised to see Jennifer Finnigan at the TCA Winter event, as she had just been in Europe and I thought she was still there.
Ashley Williams announced that she was pregnant right before arriving on the red carpet (it would have been hard to hide!).
Jessy Schram was there, but I didn't see Luke Macfarlane.
And Jerry O'Connell was there -- but I didn't see Rebecca Romijn.
All in all... it was a night full of total surprises as well as confirmations of things we already knew were in the works, and hints of possible things to come that were not yet announced. Of course, I'm sure we know that not all of the announced projects will go into production this year -- some of them will be pushed off until 2018 -- but I think the 30 Christmas movies will go forward!
I didn't see that my comment ^^ had been posted earlier when I checked, so I thought it got trapped in Spam again.
DeleteAnyway, now that it has appeared, I want to follow up on a couple of things I mentioned above.
On Saturday night, Hallmark tweeted that there would be 35 new movies on HMM this year, and 55 new movies on the main Hallmark Channel (2 separate tweets, in other words).
Hallmark also tweeted a couple of extra details about the HMM project that is in development for Holly Robinson Peete -- who it is based on, etc.
Yesterday - after I typed up the above post -- I noticed that Hallmark took down all 3 tweets. They removed the one that specified that 55 movies would premiere on the main Hallmark Channel this year. They removed the one that indicated there would be 35 movies on HMM this year. And they removed the one that mentioned what Holly Robinson Peete's project would be about.
So I can only assume that approximately 90 movies are still in the works for the 2 channels this year, with 34 or 35 going to HMM and 54 or 55 going to the main Hallmark Channel.
Are they not doing another Flower Shop Mystery with Brooke Shields and Brennan Elliott? That's the only mystery movie that does not appear to be renewed for 2017.
ReplyDeleteThey better!!!! I was shocked to not see them on the list. That was one of my favorites and when she was on the chew awhile back she said they was going to do quite a few like 10 to 20.
DeleteNo news, yet, on Flower Shop Mystery, but I'm still hopeful! There were rumors last year that Gourmet Detective might be ending, and yet, another is coming this year! Until it's solved, this is another mystery!
DeleteBrooke and the flower shop mysterys are my favorite. Please tell me they're coming back! When!
DeleteI LOVE FLOWER SHOP MYSTERIES Brooke Shields, Brennan Elliot, Beau Bridges they absolutely must come back as for Gourmet Detective it was also a must watch until they completely erased Lucas Miller played by Patrick Sabongui for Bailey-Marc Senior. Hallmark didn't write him off on 3rd movie but actually replaced Patrick Sabongui. I'm finished with the Gourmet Detective Mysteries but let's hang in there hopefully they will bring back more of Brooke Shields Flower mysteries.
DeleteWhat's about Hailey Dean Mystery 2? Hailey Dean Mystery 3 was in the list but Hailey Dean Mystery 2 wasn't
ReplyDelete*Hailey Dean Mystery: Murder, With Love was air last year
* Hailey Dean Mystery 2
*Hailey Dean Mystery 3
Excellent question... I'm on the case!
DeleteGarage Sale Mystery: Drowned starts filming on 1/23/2017 to 2/10/2017
ReplyDeleteI'm worried! I noticed in the release that Aurora's love interest is not mentioned. Just ex. Does this mean Martin is not coming back! I loved them together. Please let me know.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry. "Martin" played by Yannick Bisson (Murdoch Mysteries - The Artful Detective) is in the next Aurora movie, "Aurora Teagarden: Dead Over Heels!"
DeleteYannick posted a picture recently on set with Candace - on Instagram! Looks like he may be checking out more than books at the library! LOL!
Oh no why is Flower Shop Mystery not on the list!!! That was my favorite. When she was on the Chew awhile back if I am not mistaken she said they was going to do a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, this is still unknown, Tabitha. There was also word last year that Brooke Shields might do a Christmas movie, and that too, fell through. So... hopefully it will eventually work out!
DeleteIt seems like such a long time ago we first heard about Andie MacDowell in The Beach House. I was beginning to think it would never be made.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! I first shared the movie "The Beach House," starring Andie MacDowell back in May of 2015, the same year "Cedar Cove" ended on Hallmark.
DeleteThe movie was originally anticipated to premiere in 2016, but was moved to this year. All we know is - something must have delayed it in the production phase, but it's nice to see it is coming after all!
I was reading the article on What’s Filming? about the upcoming show “Date My Dad”, when I saw the list of movies starting and ending production. According to the website, the only movie starting production soon is the next “Murder She Baked” movie, which ends filming next month. Both “Aurora Teagarden: Dead Over Heels” and “Campfire Kiss” are about to end production this Friday (January 20th). Also, finishing production this Saturday (January 21st) are “Police Mom” and “Curveball”. I hope we can see some marketing and trailers for these movies soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the detailed report, it's great being able to find so many titles and upcoming air dates on your site!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Laura

ReplyDeleteSo happy to see so many comments wanting
ReplyDeleteFlower Shop Mysteries. Hope they listen!!
The Flowef Shop Mysteries have depth, the characters have some quirks and the mysteries are fairly clever. They are a joy to watch. Less intense then Haily Dean, more fun and clever than Gormet Detective and acting on par with Aurora Teagarden and Murder She Baked.
ReplyDeleteLove the banter of the Gourmet Detective Series. Keep it up
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that they continue the Flower Shop Mysteries Too! We'll written, good acting and I like the play between her and the guy. They are my favorites in all the series as well as Aurora Teagarden and the Garage Sale Mysteries!

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have really enjoyed the Fixer Upper series, I didn't see them mentioned among the returns, did I? Actually, we have really enjoyed all of them, do hope The Flowershop series returns, they are a great group of actors.
ReplyDeleteFixer Upper Mystery just recently wrapped filming on another movie in their series. I expect we will see it sometime early 2018 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
DeleteAs for the Flower Shop Mystery series, for some unbeknownst reason that one has ended. It was a fan-favorite for many- so it's truly unfortunate.
So glad to hear how much you & your husband enjoy the Hallmark mystery movies! Thank you for sharing!!! :)
Bring back Brook Shields in Flowershop with Brendon Ellott.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the deal about Hallmark Drama? Will it be on The Dish
Love the Darrow & Darrow movie. Hope this is going to be a series!
ReplyDeleteYes, good news - Darrow & Darrow is returning in 2018!
DeleteSo glad to hear how much you enjoyed it! :)
Please bring back Flower Shop Mysteries, I loved Brooke Shields and Brendan Elliott.
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't there any new Flower Shop Mysteries planned? There seems to be enough room to add more. What's the hold up?
ReplyDeletePlease bring back Brooke and Brennan in The Flower Shop Mysteries! They were a joy to watch! It was a fan-favorite for many of us!!!
ReplyDeletePlease, please bring back the Flower Shop Mysteries! They were great! Much better than a couple of the other series on Hallmark!!
ReplyDeleteYes! Bring back Flower Shop Mysteries! I love Garage Sale Mysteries, Murder She Baked, and Aurora Teagarden too!!!
ReplyDeletePlease bring back Murder She Baked, Garage Sale Mystery, Aurora Teagarden Mystery. I really enjoy watching them. It would be nice if they were a weekly series.. All 3 actress are my favorite...
ReplyDeleteYou get your wish for 2 of them! A new Aurora Teagarden movie is coming in July and 4 new Garage Sale Mystery movies are coming in August! As of now, there aren't any new Murder She Baked planned. I know many fans are still hoping they will bring them back for at least one more! :)
DeleteAre there any plans to bring back Brooke Shields Flower Shoppe Mysteries? I know there are more books and I really enjoyed her performances. Would love to see them continue and it looks like several people agree.
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish! Unfortunately, this mystery series has ended, but there is good news... Brennan Elliott will be starring in a new Hallmark mystery series with Lacey Chabert!
DeleteI see that Allison Sweeney is now on Days of our Lives again. this was a complete surprise viewers, I hope this does not mean she will not be making any more Murder she Baked movies for HMM. this would be a lose for sure. While missed on Days HMM have given her a new role and the ability to use her acting skills, great skills that most of us already knew she had. She would be a great lose to HMM. Can you find any information is she coming back to HMM. Also why did Brooke SHields hmm The flower shoppe murers stop. THere were more books so why not more movies? I sure miss her and the movies. THe cast seemed to act so great and flowing. I sure do miss them.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions! Alison is actually filming a new mystery series for HMM... "The Chronicle Mysteries." Unfortunately, there aren't any plans to currently bring "Murder She Baked" back, but many of the cast members still seem open to it. I know many fans loved it so much, it doesn't make sense to me, either, that it ended there- just when everyone was loving the series. As for "Flower Shop Mystery," that too has come to an end. No explanation was ever given, so I have no further details, except there is good news that Brennan Elliott will be starring in a new mystery series on HMM, with Lacey Chabert... "Crossword Mysteries."
DeleteHope this information helps a little.
Blessings, Net
