A special thank you to
Bill Abbott (President and Chief Executive Officer of Hallmark) and
Michelle Vicary (Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity) - for all they do to bring us Family Friendly Films on the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries all throughout the year!!!
During this special TCA (television critics association) event, Hallmark announced MANY UPCOMING MOVIES - Some are Soon to Premiere, others are Currently Filming or Filming Soon, and then, there are many more in the Production/Development Phase! Three more
"Signed, Sealed, Delivered" movies are coming this Year (Thank you Hallmark for delivering once again!),
Chesapeake Shores was renewed for Season 2, and if you would like to see even more on the upcoming Hallmark projects coming our way this year- then you will definitely want to check out these jam-packed press releases...
"HALLMARK CHANNEL RIDES HISTORIC RATINGS SUCCESS INTO 2017 WITH AN AMBITIOUS SLATE OF ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING" and
"HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES ANNOUNCES SLATE OF NEW ORIGINAL WORLD PREMIERE MOVIES FOR 2017".
The schedule for the
Countdown to Valentine's Day Premiere Movies was also revealed! See details -
Here!
As for
COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS, Hallmark is planning on premiering
30 All New Original Christmas Movies across both networks, including one by actress Alicia Witt (she will star and create a new song for it!), plus Rachel Boston will star in
Angel Falls (wt)by Bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz and I wouldn't be surprised, at all, if we saw more Hallmark regulars and some new faces, too, in these upcoming 30 New Christmas Movies!

Alicia Witt is not only starring in and writing a new song for her 2017 Christmas movie, but she is also developing it. It's based on her story idea, she said.
ReplyDeleteNow... those "in development" projects are tricky, because they can get delayed. It is always possible that her project is in the works, but that it could come to a standstill for some reason and not make it into this year's Christmas line-up.
Also of interest is that, when someone suggested to Alicia on social media that she get her own mystery series too (presumably on HMM), Alicia responded that it is "also in the works actually."
I don't get the sense that the mystery series is anything that would happen soon -- probably not even this year -- but the fact that it is even a possibility is surprising to me, as I figured that Alicia was happy with just doing one Hallmark movie each year and then working on edgier, non-Hallmark things for the rest of the year. I didn't think she was interested in doing anything else for the network.
Anyway, yesterday I typed up a long comment about the TCA under one of your TCA blogs, with additional info that was not included in the press releases and some additional thoughts. I don't know if got lost in Spam or what, but I don't have the patience to try to remember what I typed and type it again.
One thing I will add, though, is that Victor Webster was at the TCA event, along with a couple of actresses he was recently with in Belgium (just before Christmas).
Ioana and I saw that Victor was in Belgium and nearby areas back in December, with a group of people, but we didn't really see evidence of Victor filming a movie. One of the girls in the group he was with (Shantel VanSanten) was filming something, though. We just assumed it was a random, independent project.
So, when Victor posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Shantel VanSanten and another actress at the TCA event, he also tagged #moviecomingsoon.
Could the project that Shantel filmed in Belgium actually be something heading to the Hallmark Channel or HMM? Maybe Victor was in the movie too? There was absolutely no indication that a Hallmark project was in the works, but who knows? They filmed a movie in Bulgaria, and they have filmed in Romania, so they could easily go to Belgium too, I suppose!
Another tidbit that was not in a press release is that there is supposed to be a 10th Jesse Stone movie filming sometime this year.
Yes, my sweet sister actually alerted me to Alicia Witt's mention of her new Christmas movie on Saturday. I'm amazed at them sharing these Christmas movie details so early this year! I have already added it to the New Upcoming Christmas Movies post!
DeleteI also saw a photo of Victor Webster at the event. There are always a few actors/actresses there - who we know will surely have an upcoming Hallmark project, yet nothing has been announced - quite yet!
As for Tom Selleck's "Jesse Stone" movie, I also heard they are doing another new one. Unfortunately, those are the only mysteries I'm not too fond of - definitely not family friendly.
There were certainly lots of fun details revealed by Hallmark!
Alicia's mystery series that is in the works (I mentioned it above) is the real surprise, though I still doubt that it will happen anytime soon. I guess the Christmas movie is surprising only because she announced it so early in the year (and Hallmark flew her in from Nashville to be there, so I guess they wanted it to be announced!). But a mystery series is not something I would expect her to want to do.
DeleteAs for Victor Webster -- yes, he will do something for Hallmark this year. Otherwise, he would not have been there -- he even said he doesn't like the whole red carpet thing, but it's part of the job.
I don't wait for official announcements to find out what the Hallmark actors doing -- if we did that, we'd all have nothing to post about as we wait for months to find out news!
I just wonder if the Belgium activity that Ioana and I saw on Instagram back in December, before Christmas (Shantel was involved in filming something, and Victor was in Belgium with her and some other people), has anything to do with Victor, Shantel and one of their other "Belgium buddies" being at Hallmark's TCA.
In other words, did Hallmark secretly film something in Belgium, or are they planning to?
The other bizarre thing is that Hallmark deleted their original tweets about the details of Holly Robinson's project, the fact that HMM would have 35 movies this year, and the fact that the main Hallmark Channel would have 55 movies. I wonder why they deleted those 3 tweets.
And yet,,,. they put out a press release about Valentine's Day, claiming that there are SEVEN new movies premiering... but they only listed the SIX movies that are already known. What is the 7th movie, or was that just a mistake? Lol
Very odd.
Yes, I immediately noticed Hallmark mentioned "7" Countdown to Valentine's movies in their press release, but only mentioned 6. I figured it was just a simple human error and fixed it. Those things happen.
DeleteIt does appear to be a fun line-up of Valentine Movies this year!
I think it was in that same Valentine press release (about the 7 movies) where they refer to "5 consecutive nights" of new movies, or some such thing (I am not looking at the release at the moment, but I remember the 5 nights)....
DeleteAnd yet, the dates they listed (which were supposed to highlight the "5 nights") were 2/11 to 2/14. That's only 4 nights, not 5! Lol What happened to the 5th night?
They should have had someone proofread the document or quickly check it before it went to press. I guess they are not expecting anyone to notice these details.
Thank you, Net, for these pretty photos and for all the fun Winter TCA information. Looks like there is something for everyone coming up this year! What a blessing.
ReplyDeleteHere's an article about Holly Robinson Peetes' project with Hallmark! Yay! I love her. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/television/Holly-Robinson-Peetes-Hallmark-project-has-Scandal-connection.html
ReplyDeleteMisty
I'm so glad you posted that, Misty! I was beginning to wonder what was happening with Holly's project after Hallmark removed their tweet the other day (which specifically mentioned the Judy Smith inspiration for the story/series). They did mention Holly's name in a separate press release, but it was the same release that listed other projects as well, and they did not say anything further about her project in the release.
DeleteWhen the tweet about Judy Smith disappeared, I wondered if maybe Hallmark was planning to do some sort of separate press release in the coming days, to highlight working with Holly, so that it would stand out and not get lost in the shuffle.
In any case, what she said is so true. Hallmark does seem to be very loyal to the their actors (I don't know how the Home & Family situation went so wrong with Cristina Ferrare's dismissal -- that seems to be a major exception). If they like the actors and their work, they will keep offering them more things to do, every year.
Sherry I so agree with you about the big mess up they did with H&F I am in my early 30' s and was not happy with what they did. I could barely tolerate Debbie's segments now she was going to host. I tried to watch it and give it a chance but after a week Just was not the same. I have not watched it since. I will be surprised if they get renewed this summer.
DeleteTabitha -- Yes, indeed. Letting Cristina go was handled very badly all the way around, and it seemed very unlike Hallmark. Hallmark is not only (seemingly) very loyal to their people, but they are very family-oriented in terms of making all of the regular actors and talent feel a part of the "family." And yet, from what Cristina herself has explained in various places, her dismissal was executed in a rather cold way that seemed to contradict that family vibe.
DeleteFor the most part it seems to be an exception to how they normally handle things, but, then again, who knows what goes on behind the scenes?
I rarely watch H&F -- really only if there is a specific guest on that I want to see, or some sort of segment/announcement about upcoming movies. I have nothing against Debbie. She seems nice and fun, and I watched her hosting other things before she started on H&F -- but I don't think she is the ideal daily co-host for this specific show. She was fine as one of the "family members" and contributors to H&F -- or even filling in as a temporary guest host -- but I don't think that her hosting H&F on a regular basis has improved the show in any way. I don't think it's the right fit. I can't think of who would be the right fit at the moment, either younger or older, but there has to be someone.
I love the red lace maternity dress worn by Ashley Williams. The bow around the middle makes it look like she has a wrapped gift inside---which she certainly does.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is such a beautiful comment, Preppy Mountain Farmer! I love that! I thought Ashley Williams looked so lovely, too - glowing! Her dress even complimented the background. I agree with you - she absolutely has a very special "gift!"
DeleteOh, and Ashley has revealed... "It's a Boy!" She and her husband, Neal Dodson (who is also an actor/producer) will now have to sons! Gus, their first child, turned two in October.
DeleteOkay, I'll play fashion expert here and say best dressed man is Brennan Elliott. He looked dressed up, but comfortable in his tennis shoes. My pick for best dressed woman or in this case, teenage girl is Bailee Madison. Maybe not the black socks, but her white dress and new full bangs rock! Love this post, Net. Makes me feel like I was there!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Brennan. I wanna play
DeleteI can't pick one so picked two.
Women picks are Ashley Williams and Candance.
Men picks are Brendan Penny and Daniel Lissing
You all picked some really good ones! Of your choices, I really liked Brennan Elliott & Ashley Williams! They both looked fun and fabulous... a great, most becoming combination - that suited them both perfectly!
DeleteI would have to say Cameron Mathison, Bailee Madison & Barbara Niven. Cameron looked so handsome and fun as always. Barbara & Bailee looked very lady like and beautiful. The 3 of them represented Hallmark and family friendly movies well. I was disappointed with others I saw and their choices.
ReplyDeleteThose are all wonderful fashion picks and people! All three: Cameron Mathison, Bailee Madison & Barbara Niven are such terrific Hallmark Stars. They absolutely shine in any role they are given - and they all shined on the red carpet, too! Thank you for sharing, Anonymous.
DeleteI agree with you - as I, too, was taken aback by some fashion choices, but not altogether surprised. In my opinion, classy is beautiful... and, thankfully there were a lot of beautiful Hallmark stars on the red carpet who did shine! I hope I gave a good representation of them above!
Thanks for all of the wonderful photos! :) They all look so snazzy. It would be impossible to pick a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI wish that I had the Hallmark Mystery channel. I think that Alicia would make an excellent choice for a detective-next-door leading lady. She always brings a bit of an inquisitive quirkiness to her characters. It would be a perfect fit. I have to check into getting that channel!!
Oh, you're welcome, Brenda! Glad you enjoyed the red carpet!
DeleteAs for the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel, it is truly fabulous! HMM has movies almost all day long, various films from the Hallmark library, Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, and mysteries, too, from 1pm-11pm! Whenever I have a chance to watch during the day, this is such a great option! Plus, it's great for those after work hours, too, from 5 to 11!
The mystery movies on there are really great, as well. Typically, these mysteries are not as creepy or graphic, like most other suspense movies or dramas on television.
I like your idea for Alicia Witt being the quirky girl-next-door type detective... She'd be ideal for that!
You'll definitely have to check into Hallmark Movies & Mysteries... I was so glad when I did! :)
Thank you for commenting, Brenda... have a Blessed Day!!!
I was just wondering if anyone knows more about these movies that I came across
ReplyDeleteIt happened one Valentine's
Bridal Boot Camp
2 years of marriage
The movie 2 years of marriage almost seems like it could be the sequel to Pixl's how not to propose.
Thank you for that question, Anonymous. Many have expressed interest in the first movie you mentioned, "It Happened One Valentine's". I contacted the writer of this movie, Jake Helgren... coincidentally, he also wrote "Bridal Boot Camp." I just received word from him, that there is interest in both of these films airing on TV, but he is unable to disclose any information, yet. So, I will keep you posted and let you know when I hear anything. Jake has also informed me that these are family friendly films.
DeleteAs for the last movie you mentioned, "2 Years of Marriage," I am not aware of this movie. Did you possibly mean the Marvista movie "2 Years of Love" with Ryan Merriman and Kayla Ewell? If so, I haven't heard any news on it being aired on TV, but I'll be sure to keep a look out for it!
I was only able to find information on IMDB for "It happened one Valentine's" and "Bridal Boot Camp". They're both premiering in 2017 and based on each synopsis, I'm going to take a wild guess that they'll premiere on PixL.
Delete"It Happened One Valentine's" will have a VOD release on February 7th, 2017. It may be too late for it to be aired on TV this year, but Jake Helgren informed me that he is "unable to share anything until we know for sure."
DeleteI previewed the trailer, and since it stars someone I've seen in other PixL movies, I agree - it does have the PixL romantic comedy feel to it! Or, possibly an UP style movie, too! ??????
I'll be sure to let you know if and when I hear anything! Thanks, Net
PixL has a full roster of movies filmed last year. They're not picking up any outside movies right now
DeleteBridal Boot Camp will not be on Pixl. PixL currently has two wedding movies to premiere this year Sisters of the Groom and The Wedding Do Over
DeleteYes Net it is 2 years of love sorry about that. I keep making that mistake after I watched the trailer for some reason. Thanks Net!!!
DeleteSounds like Hallmark is finally listening to the call for diversity many many fans have expressed
