Remember when Candace Cameron Bure shared the caption "Back to Christmas 1945", with her recent Instagram/Facebook post? (see it here!) Well, we didn't know it then, but she was actually revealing to us, at that moment, the title (or rather working title) of her currently filming Hallmark Christmas Movie!
The proof, is in this Instagram post:
image: courtesy Actress Meghan Heffern's Instagram |
with the Caption:
"Merry Christmas from all of us and Happy Birthday to my magical pretend child π #BackToChristmas π #hallmark @hallmarkchannel"
(*Credit for Discovery of this Christmas Movie news, goes to Ioana A.!)
Candace's additional cast members are: Oliver Hudson, Meghan Heffern, and Gwynyth Walsh!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!
Interesting, but I wouldn't get too attached to the title, as there was a 2015 ION movie with that same title (also known as "Correcting Christmas"). It is also set to come out on DVD this season, with the Back to Christmas title. see: https://www.iontelevision.com/holiday-movie/back-to-christmas
ReplyDeleteI saw that movie for the first time about 2 holiday seasons ago, I think it was. It wasn't too bad. The story was kind of interesting. I might have to try to watch it again this year. The lead actress was unknown to me at the time, but one of the actors in the movie was also in "The Mistle-Tones" (which I love) on what used to be ABC Family/now Freeform.
DeleteI wouldn't be shocked if the title changes -- not only because of the ION movie of the same name, but also because it's not that compelling of a title. It's kind of flat.
Another Hallmark title bound to change is "Shooting Christmas." That's just not a good title in any way!
I remember that movie, SKP. Good point!
DeleteI'm wondering if it might be a time travel type movie, "Back to the Future" meets "Back to Christmas"!
Just a thought. But, if it is about time travel, they should keep that movie title!
Well... my original guesses for which movie Candace could be doing ("Christmas Expectations"; "Nutcracker"; "Sleigh Bell Sweethearts") all turned out to be 100% incorrect.
ReplyDeleteSo then I settled on "A Worthwhile Life" as the back-up option.
When seeing Candace's Christmas 1945 photo a couple of days ago, the theories I gave for which movie it could be would have fit nicely with "A Worthwhile Life," as the lead character could be finding out more about the necklace at the center of it all, and tracing its story back to 1945.
But, alas, those theories turned out to be wrong because the movie is not "A Worthwhile Life."
Yep. I'm batting 1000 here...
So... when looking at the above photo (of Candace in her 1945 garb and the others in present-day wear), trying to deduce what the plot might actually be... I got nothin'! Lol.
At first I wondered if Candace's character was someone the present-day folks might be flashing back to as they tell a story of some sort.
And then I wondered if Candace was some sort of ghost or angel, coming to watch over the family in 2016.
And then I wondered if Candace might be someone who time travels from 1945 to 2016 and ends up with the family, or the family goes back in time to 1945.
But then I decided that those theories are all likely incorrect, and the story is something completely different.
So, yeah... I got nothin'....
I think we were all in that same boat, Sherry, on this one. Love it! Whatever it ends up being called, I'm sure we'll all look forward to hearing the plot for Candace's Christmas movie! Would be interesting and quite different if Candace didn't have a love interest in this one.
DeleteWhat I am still unclear on is if this is the Christmas movie she is doing for this year? Isn't it too late to be shown this year if they're still filming? Is there another Christmas movie that is already in the can that will be shown this Christmas that we still don't know about, that she is in? I am sure my IAWM friends will clear me up here.
ReplyDeleteSigned, "lost somewhere in the North Pole looking For Candace's Christmas movie for this year"
Great question, Jim! The Christmas movie Candace Cameron Bure is filming right now is, indeed, for the Hallmark Channel this year! They are amazing at filming in just a couple of weeks, and the editing and tech department must be amazing, too, at getting the movies edited and posters made to promote the new movie premieres- all just in time!
DeleteHope this answer is delivered to you, Jim, somewhere at the North Pole!!! :)
Yup. I remember the movie Christmas Land was filmed in Oct/Nov!
DeleteMisty
And Alicia Witt is currently filming Christmas Bucket List, to be shown this season, in Vancouver.
DeleteMark -- I have been loving the photos and videos that Alicia has been posting from the filming! She's been in an elf outfit, with Gabriel Hogan as Santa. She has been making gingerbread houses. She was ice skating on Day 1. She was in a tutu just yesterday. Today she posted a video where she is joyfully smiling and spinning (and she has a great smile) as the fake snow falls on her.
DeleteI think I am going to love Alicia's movie, because she seems to be having a blast while filming it!
I have been hoping that Net would do one of her "on the set" blogs, featuring photos or videos of some of the movies currently in production. Not only has Alicia been posting great things, but right at the start of the "Rose Parade New Year" filming, Rachel Boston posted a couple of adorable photos (one with a giant bear and one with Marc Bendavid).
Also, yesterday I found a great video of Kristin Davis and Shirley MacLaine (dressed in flowing, angelic white) walking down the street together, while filming "Christmas Angel in Training."
All of these photos and videos add to my excitement -- more so than if I hadn't seen them -- and now I really can't wait for the Countdown to Christmas to begin!
Hi Sherry - Yes, I love the video with Alicia spinning in the fake snow, and she does look great! But I thought the best part of the video is at the end when they had to cut because she got the fake snow in her mouth!
DeleteI saw that, too, Mark & Sherry! Alicia is an absolute hoot! She has the perfect joyful cut-up personality for making Christmas movies!!! She's so fun to watch!!!
DeleteHope the snow is edible!!!
I wondered about that snow when it ended up in Alicia's mouth. I couldn't figure out what it was made of. I know that some of the fake snow that I encounter during the holiday season (at malls or theme parks) almost seems bubble-ish, like it's made up of many tiny soap bubbles. But that kind of fake snow would not be very visible on camera, so I tend to think they (Hallmark) might be using something a little sturdier and a bit more dense - just so that the viewers will be able to see the snow and get the impression that it's a significant snowstorm and not just a few flakes.
DeleteIn any case, I am so glad that Hallmark is "allowing" (and I hate to use that word, because it makes them sound like a dictatorship) everyone to openly admit to the movies they are making, clearly naming them and posting photos on social media.
As you know all too well, Net, sometimes Hallmark has the actors keep quiet so Hallmark can break the news in some other way later on. I greatly prefer it when the actors can freely talk about the movies they are doing and the fact that they are Hallmark movies, and I love that they share the photos as the production goes along. I feel much more invested in these movies when I watch them unfold through photos and know that they are coming up this holiday season. Plus, it's just interesting to watch how something makes the transformation from the still photos we see to an actual movie with a story.
Thanks Net. One of the elves just passed on your message to me. Lost no more. This answers it perfectly. Thank you. By the way, Santa and Rudolph say hi to all the IAWM Christmas helpers. You have been put on the nice list.
ReplyDeleteJim --
Delete(Hopefully you're still getting messages at the North Pole...)
I will add (to what Net said) that since very early this year (like as far back as late January/early February), the Christmas movies for both of the Hallmark channels have been in production. They've been filmed in between -- and sometimes at the same time as -- the movie shoots for June Weddings, Summer Nights, Fall Harvest, etc.
I have noticed that a lot of the themed movies tend to film in clusters, meaning that a bunch of June Weddings and Summer Nights movies will film at the same time, or back-to-back, and all of the Fall Harvest movies seem to film at the same time (no matter where they are being filmed).
But, because there are so many Christmas movies to crank out for one holiday season, they can't film them all at one time, so they have to film some of them very early on in the year.
Some of the movies that were filmed between late winter and late spring include: "A Wish for Christmas" and "Christmas Cookies," as well as titles that are going to air on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel.
Now that the clusters of June Weddings movies, Summer Nights movies and Fall Harvest movies are out of the way in terms of filming, Hallmark has kicked off another cluster of Christmas movie shoots. Anything that wasn't already filmed earlier in the year is being filmed now, or within the next couple of weeks.
Right now, as I type this, one Christmas movie just wrapped up production ("Christmas Expectations"/"12 Days"), and there are 7 or 8 other movies filming at the same time! Most of them are shooting in different areas of Canada (Candace's movie is included in that group), but one is filming in Utah and another is filming in Georgia.
There are still at least a couple of others that are starting production in the next week or two. And then there are a couple of titles that seemingly have no known filming dates (thus far), so they were either already secretly filmed somewhere off the radar, at a time when no one was paying much attention (sort of like "Love Always, Santa" early this year), which is probably unlikely, or they are going to be filmed very soon, somewhere off the beaten path, between now and early November.
So, essentially it looks like, this year, most of the Hallmark Channel Christmas movie shoots are happening in September-October, while some others were scattered throughout the first 8 months of the year.
I don't know if Hallmark is doing any Winterfest movies again in January 2017, but if they do, those movies should be filmed in Nov. And expect another cluster of Countdown to Valentine's Day movie shoots in December/early January.
Then, the whole cycle begins again in 2017!
Sherry...No worries. I get all my messages from my magical Snow Globe that Frosty gave me! No matter where I am!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Thanks so much for taking the time to fill me in. Such a wonderfully thorough answer. I had no idea that they film this late in the year and even later as you pointed out. I remember you all talking about Christmas filming going on earlier in the year and Spring time or so. I figured they finished them all at that time by Summer.
Thanks to you both. I can now sleep better tonight (hehe) knowing Candace's movie will in fact be on THIS year!
Reading your reply made me think of how great it would be to be a worker and part of the Christmas movie making for Hallmark. You would be living in Christmas Spirit all year long.
Thanks again. Tomorrow's travels take me to the Island of Misfit Toys where I fit in so perfectly.
No problem at all!
DeleteSo, really, there could be Christmas movies filming as early as late January and as late as early November, if they are going to air in the same year!
To your comment about working on the Christmas movies all year long -- I always wonder what it's like for the casts and crews of these Christmas movies when they have to, for example, film a fake snow scene or decorate a Christmas tree in May or something. I truly wonder if making these films gets everyone in the Christmas spirit out of season, or if it kind of makes them tired of Christmas by the time the holiday season actually arrives. I hope it's the former and not the latter.
I know that some of the actors -- such as Alicia Witt -- have said that filming the Christmas movies is so much fun. It's just pure fun from beginning to end. I suppose that's why a lot of them continue to do a movie every year or every other year. It's a quick shoot (2 or 3 weeks), with weekends off (much of the time). It's a paycheck. And it's fun!
I think that when an actor is not having fun during the filming, it will come across on camera. There have been times when I have watched a made-for-TV Christmas movie and thought, "He/she is not having fun with this role." And if they're not having fun, then we, the viewers, are probably not having fun either.
Enjoy your visit to the Island of Misfit Toys. Look out for Rudolph, Hermey and Yukon Cornelius!
Yes, Hallmark is absolutely incredible at getting these productions made so quickly and turn them around to our TV screens in a matter of weeks!
DeleteI remember last year Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott, who starred in Mariah Carey's movie "A Christmas Melody"... were filming that one in mid October last year in Ohio! So, you never know! That one ended up premiering second to last, in 2015... but, even still, it's amazing how they can so quickly film them!
By the way, Hope Santa finds you on the Island! How fun, Jim! - You're not a misfit here!!!
While visiting Misfit Island today I took the opportunity to clear up something that has bothered me for a very long time. What is actually wrong with a "Dolly for Sue"? Why is she on Misfit Island? The others are clear but the cute little Dolly?...hmmmm.
DeleteToday, I had a wonderful chat with a "Dolly for Sue" herself. What a charming little Dolly she is. She told me what is actually wrong with her.
Without seeking out Google, who knows why "Dolly for Sue" is on Misfit Island? The winner gets to go with me on my next Christmas adventure.
"Dolly for Sue" is sooooo adorable, but as I recall, all she does is cry. So sad, really, but maybe when Santa arrives to collect the toys and he works his magic, she'll be happy once she knows the love of a child!!! :)
DeleteThat's a good question, indeed! Now I have to watch "Rudolph..." again soon, to refresh my memory. I try to catch it every holiday season, but I missed it last year and now it seems like it's been a decade since I last saw it! Lol.
DeleteMaybe it's Dolly's crying, as Net suggested. That must have made her a Misfit.
I just love those old Rankin-Bass specials (including the Easter installments)!
Decide for yourself what you think the real answer is to the age old question that has haunted so many about why was "Dolly for Sue" really on Misfit Island.

Only Dolly and I know the definitive answer. It's too personal for me to reveal. Say a prayer for Dolly. She is one screwed up rag doll.
THE HALLMARK CHRISTMAS MOVIES, YAAAAY, I LOVE THEM! You know, Candace Cameron has played in many of the Christmas shows lately, and it's always a delight to watch her. Can't wait for the holiday movies to come out. Thanks for getting me in the mood for some good movie nights.

Thank you, Sheri, from Red Rose Alley! I love your warm enthusiasm over CHRISTMAS!!! It is the BEST, isn't it? Thank you for stopping by and sharing in the JOY!!! God Bless You!!!
DeleteYou forgot Raven Stewart!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised they missed her since its a pic of her birthday celebration with her fellow cast!
DeleteThank you for sharing her name! :)
DeleteBrooke Nevin (from "On the Twelfth Day of Christmas") is in this movie as well!
