Hallmark Announces Karen Kingsbury's The Bridge Part 2 is Coming Soon!

A surprising promo was announced in a commercial on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel during the premiere of Flower Shop Mystery: Mum's the Word on Sunday evening (January 17, 2016). Karen Kingsbury's The Bridge Part 2, by popular demand, will air in March, 2016 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

As many of you will recall, the first part of Karen Kingsbury's The Bridge premiered on the Hallmark Channel, December 6th, 2015, during their "Countdown to Christmas" event. Whether or not it will air on the Hallmark Channel, in March or at a later date, is unknown.

I certainly hope the entire story will become available for all Hallmark viewers to see.

*A special "Thank You" to Meredyth, Sherry, and Linda D. for sharing this information with me!

  2. Great news! They need to replay Part 1 that evening before Part 2 is shown, so we can watch the entire thing. I've already forgotten the first one. πŸ˜•πŸ˜‚

  3. I saw it too Net. And I said to Hubby, I'll bet they got inundated with complaints about having to wait until next Christmas! :)

  4. Maybe it's not a Christmas theme. I didn't read the book.

  5. They actually listened to their viewers! There were lots of upset people commenting on facebook, after finding out that the 2nd part would come in a year. It is too bad that it is not going to appear on the Hallmark Channel, instead of HMM. I guess that I don't understand that.

  6. Wow. Thanks for the update, but that sure is confusing.

  7. Smart move. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fans that saw the first part that may not live until the end of the year. I'm glad they listened to their fans and moved it up!

  8. It's good news only for those that have the HMM channel!
Why would they show part 1 on the Hallmark channel and then show part 2 on HMM?! It makes no sense and not "fair" for the people that watched part 1 and now won't be able to watch part 2 because they don't have HMM!

I wondered why they would do that too. I mean, I know that Hallmark is trying to get more people to subscribe to the HMM Channel. Some people have the option to get it through their cable or satellite providers and just haven't gotten it. Hallmark is trying to go after those people by putting movies and other series there that are exclusive to that channel.

That said, given the outrage over Part 2 of the movie originally being delayed until at least November, since Hallmark is going to give in and show the movie early, why would they show it on HMM first?

They DID move Part 1 of "The Bridge" over to HMM towards the end of the holiday season, so I can imagine Part ending up there eventually -- but I didn't think they would premiere Part 2 on HMM! That's going to further anger people who don't have the channel.

    2. I was thinking exactly the same thing, Sherry. It seems like it would be fair for all viewers, if they first aired it on the Hallmark Channel, especially since Part 1 premiered there in December. Some of my family members only have the Hallmark Channel and I know this was disappointing news to them.

After many viewers were so upset in December, I thought Hallmark would go out of their way to make things right. I agree, airing it only on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel is likely to cause an all new backlash.

I personally think it would be best if they did a simulcast airing on both networks, like they did with the first "Aurora Teagarden" movie last year. Hopefully, they will consider it - in order to make all Hallmark viewers happy.

    3. We used to have HMM channel as part of our cable package but then all of a sudden it disappeared. We called our cable company and they said it was taken away and added to a separate "premium channel package" that we would have to pay extra for. That made me angry. I could understand if it had always been in the "premium channel package" but to take it away from people that always had it before and expect you to pay more for it is not right in my opinion. They said it was due to Hallmark raising the price for that HMM channel. I had just started getting into all the new series when it was taken away. And now this blow with "The Bridge" movie? Hallmark is not treating people kindly.

    4. I agree with you totally, Anonymous! It is all about money! They don’t care if you cannot afford to upgrade a level or not. My feeling is if you don’t subscribe to the new movie channel all you will get on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Mysteries and Movies is reruns. Another way of getting more money. Hallmark should be ashamed! Other channels have done the same thing..

  9. To get their other channel would cost me alot of extra money with my service provider. This is not a good solution for those of us who only have the regular Hallmark channel

  10. So, let me get this straight. Noone knows yet if it will air on the Hallmark Channel, but it premiered there and said to be continued there. Whoa! Wait a minute. Hallmark wronged us before by not letting us know it was only part of the story and now they do this. I don't get it. You premiered it on the Hallmark Channel and you should finish it on the Hallmark Channel. Not everyone can afford Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and I certainly wouldn't have watched a movie on the Hallmark Channel that was only going to be continued to another channel.

I have to think that Part 2 will, at some point, air on the Hallmark Channel -- even if just as a courtesy for people who only saw Part 1 on that channel.

However, that said, I tend to wonder if what Hallmark will do is premiere Part 2 on the Movies & Mysteries Channel in March and then save the Part 2 showtime on the regular channel for the actual holiday season. In other words, I would not be shocked if they do something like air Part 2 only on HMM in March and then run it on the regular channel in November or December.

I think it was clear that Hallmark wanted "The Bridge" to end up on the HMM Channel, since they moved it over to that channel towards the end of last year. It is possible that people who don't have the HMM Channel were unaware that Part 1 moved over there before 2015 was over, so they probably had no inkling that Part 2 could end up on HMM.

When it comes to HMM, there are 2 groups of people - those whose cable or satellite providers don't offer the channel at all, and those who can't/won't get the channel by choice (for lack of money or whatever the reason). It seems that Hallmark is trying to target the people who don't have the channel by choice, in an effort to try to convince them to get it by putting exclusive programming on HMM. The problem is that people were already angry enough with them about splitting "The Bridge" into 2 parts, separated by a year, so suddenly throwing Part 2 onto HMM in March is not going to be a popular decision to a lot of people.

  11. I love some of their movies but Hallmark is not diverse enough for me to pay extra for their M&M channel. My package is already expensive as is. As a longtime viewer I'm annoyed that they keep putting some of their better movies on the other channel to try and entice people to watch. Even some of the reruns of movies they haven't played in a long time are over on that channel while the regular channel plays the same ones with the same stars over and over.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries repeats its movies a lot as well (during the 2 months of Christmas movies, I lost count of how often certain ones were repeated there). It's just that there is a different selection of movies and series on that channel, and there is a different tone to that selection as opposed to the tone of what is on the regular Hallmark Channel. Some people will prefer the tone of the HMM channel more than the tone of the Hallmark Channel.

  12. When will it air in Canada? :)
