"The Sound of Music" will be an instant holiday classic, says the NBC Network. This Live Production will star American Idol and Grammy Winner Carrie Underwood as Maria and Stephen Moyer as Captain von Trapp.

Sony music will release the companion soundtrack to NBC's live broadcast of The Sound of Music on Dec. 3, just two days prior to the special.
