For those of you, who were looking forward to "In the Key of Love," starring Laura Osnes, Scott Michael Foster, and Andrea Brooks, which was previously scheduled to air on that date, it has been moved "currently" on Hallmark Channel's schedule to a Monday night premiere, on July 1st. (Please be sure to check back for any additional changes!) See the New TV Movie Schedule - *HERE* - for all the June Weddings and upcoming Hallmark Movie Premieres!

Christmas in July - Coming in June!

Be sure to check out the full schedule of BOTH - the Hallmark Channel AND Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in My Movie Guide - *HERE*!

I hope you all have a very nice, sunny, pleasant, relaxing weekend. I will be at a family get-together, so I'm probably not going to be able to watch everything, but rest assured - I'll be recording to watch later!

Sunday night just won't be the same without "When Calls the Heart." I sure am going to miss sitting down with my family and visiting Hope Valley for that hour. This was the perfect time for INSP to premiere "The Legend of the 5 Mile Cave," so we could all visit the old west for awhile this Sunday!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! I have lots of prepping to do for my family event, so I must run and get busy!

Blessings to you all! Net

💮 REMEMBERING DORIS DAY 💮 AS SHE TAKES A SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY HOME...

Today, we remember Doris Day, who sang her way into our hearts with classic songs like: 'Sentimental Journey,' 'Que Sera, Sera,' 'Please, Please, Don't Eat the Daisies' and many more cherished tunes.

Doris Day was known for being the epitome of sugar and spice and everything nice... all sweetness, wholesomeness, and goodness! Her style was bright and cheerful; she was the legendary girl next door.

UPDATE: Details on TCM's Doris Day movie tribute below...

According to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, Doris had been in excellent health until she recently contracted a serious case of pneumonia. She passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at the age of 97, in her home in Carmel Valley, California surrounded by dear friends.

What an incredible, soothing voice she had, recording over 600 songs, in which generation after generation, have enjoyed listening to. Many of her hit songs, such as: 'On Moonlight Bay,' 'Love Me, Or Leave Me' and 'April in Paris' were the highlight of the films she starred in. No matter your age or the era you grew up in, Doris' songs still evoke a certain sentiment... a heartwarming emotion... a feeling of ease, like a warm breeze on a carefree Summer day.

Doris was born April 3, 1922; her given name was Doris Mary Ann Kappeloff by her parents, William Joseph Kappeloff and Alma Sophia. Doris had two older brothers, Richard and Paul. Richard, however, passed before Doris was born.

As a young girl, Doris initially wanted to be a professional dancer, but after she injured her leg in a car accident in 1937, that dream ended. Instead, she realized her singing talent as she sang along with the radio, recovering from her accident. Doris took singing lessons and worked with the Les Brown band, eventually recording the hit song 'Sentimental Journey' in 1945.

screen-cap image via 'Romance on the High Seas'

From there, she was recommended for an audition for the movie 'Romance on the High Seas' in 1948. Doris, of course, earned the role, which led to more films thereafter. She even co-starred in a feature film with future President, Ronald Reagan, in "The Winning Team". In all, she made 39 films, even dancing in many of them, thus fulfilling her first dream, as well!

Even more than her entertainment dreams, Doris yearned to be a housewife and mother. She had one son, Terry, who, sadly, proceeded her in death in 2004. Terry's son, Ryan, is her only grandchild.

In her later years, Doris loved being surrounded by the love and companionship of her animals. In 1978, she founded the Doris Day Pet Foundation, now the Doris Day Animal Foundation.

My personal love of Doris Day films began with movies like "Move Over, Darling" with James Garner and the Alfred Hitchcock film, "The Man Who Knew Too Much," with Jimmy Stewart. It has also been a thrill for me, personally, to share my birthday with Doris Day each year and send her a birthday greeting here on my blog.

Doris' song 'A Bushel and a Peck' brings to mind a very special childhood memory for me of my Grandmother (we called her Ma-Ma). My own Momma would often sing to me and my siblings many of her favorite Doris Day songs, as we were growing up and still today! Furthermore, a dear, precious Aunt of mine, actually looked a lot like Doris Day. She was such a beautiful lady, inside and out.

Like an old movie reel playing in my mind, I can still see family members (past and present), sitting around in a circle at holiday gatherings, singing gospel hymns and cherished Doris Day songs like 'Sentimental Journey,' 'You are my Sunshine' and 'By the Light of the Silvery Moon'.

I imagine many of you also have your own sweet memories, in which Doris Day is a special part. Please share yours or any favorite Doris Day movie or song you may have, in comments below - as we remember Doris Day today in her 'Sentimental Journey' home...

May God bless and comfort
all the dear family and friends of Doris Day.

In God's Love... with my prayers, Net

Can You Guess My Hallmark Themed Birthday + Happy Birthday, Dear Doris Day!!!

In our family, we love Birthdays! And, for each and every one of ours, from the eldest to the youngest, we choose a theme to celebrate the day!

image: itsawonderfulmovie.com

This year I have chosen a theme that is Hallmark related. See if you can figure it out with these 7 fun clues...

1. It's a drama... filled with emotion and "heart"!

2. There is romance, of course, like most Hallmark movies!

3. Each character is filled with "hope" for a bright future.

4. Many important lessons are taught and learned, along the way.

5. There's a great deal of sacrifice, in giving of one's self.

6. There's an immense love of family, friends, and neighbors.

7. And, most assuredly, these characters have a deep faith that carries them through any season of life...

My theme is...

You guessed it! (right?)

...

...

...

...

...

...

"When Calls the Heart"

image: "When Calls the Heart" - via Crown Media

I thought it would be most fun to incorporate "When Calls the Heart" into my birthday, today... from the cake, to well, every detail... just like Rosemary would do it! And, I am blessed to have both a Rosemary & Abigail "type" in my life, so planning the event is so much fun with them! I am definitely more of an Elizabeth type-person... so we work very well together! "Rosemary" makes big plans, "Abigail" cocks her head to the side and grins, and I, "Elizabeth" barely nod my head in agreement... as "Rosemary" goes on with the next grand idea!

image: "When Calls the Heart" - via Crown Media

It's all in good fun! Over the years I've learned, the greatest gift and blessing is that I'll be spending my birthday (today!) surrounded by all my wonderful family! Their love is the only gift I really need; however.... it's awfully fun to unwrap a few tangible things, as well! Isn't it? (Now, I kinda sound like dear Rosemary!)

In coming days... I promise to try and sneak you a bite (or rather picture) of the cake!

My heart calls me away, but thank you to all of you, who stop by to visit and read this post today!

image: "When Calls the Heart" - via Crown Media

Who else's birthday is today... well, it's dear Doris Day!!!
Oh... "It's a Great Feeling..." to share our day!!!

Actress Doris Day

Doris portrayed many marvelous and mischievous characters... and today, TCM is celebrating her birthday with their own movie-marathon dedicated solely to the actress, with her films:

It's a Great Feeling ... 8:15 AM

Storyline: When nobody at Warner Bros. will work with him, movie star Jack Carson decides to turn an unknown into his co-star.

Glass Bottom Boat ... 9:45 AM

Storyline: A woman writing a scientist's biography is mistaken for a spy.

Calamity Jane ... 11:45 AM

Day 5: Can you keep a Secret during Christmas in July?

Well, here at "It's a Wonderful Movie"... I'm sharing all the Christmas Movie secrets I can find! And, tonight's not-so secret movie is... Hallmark's "The Christmas Secret," which airs tonight on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries (HMM)!

Start your Christmas movie viewing early this morning with Jimmy Durante in "The Great Rupert"... then, Doris Day... acting and singing in the two part movie/sequel - "On Moonlight Bay" (from 1951) and "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" (from 1953)! If you haven't seen them, be sure to tune in... there's one particular scene, especially in "On Moonlight Bay" - that will surely touch all Christmas movie fans hearts deeply! You'll know it when you see it!

July 11, 2017 - Tuesday

The Great Rupert ... TCT ... 1:30 AM
By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953) ... TCM ... 6 AM
Home & Family Christmas in July ... Hallmark Channel ... 10 AM
On Moonlight Bay (1951) ... TCM ... 10 AM
Christmas Oranges ... TCT ... 5:30 PM
The Christmas Secret ... HMM ... 7 PM
Operation Christmas ... HMM ... 9 PM
Miracle on 34th Street (1973) ... TCT ... 1:30 AM
The Ride: A Christmas Eve Parable (35 min) ... TCT ... 2:17 AM

It's Christmas in July once again on Hallmark Channel's Home & Family with actress Danica McKellar from the Hallmark Channel original movie "Coming Home for Christmas", who will cook with her mother a Christmas ham! Plus, there are lots of Christmas crafts on Home & Family, too. See this show July 11, 2017 - Tuesday at 10 AM! (repeats Wednesday at 12 PM noon)

Have you seen the movie "Christmas Oranges?" During this Christmas in July, it already aired on Saturday, but if you missed it then, you'll want to watch or record it today at 5:30 PM (EST)! Due to some tough issues with orphan children, it may not be suitable for younger viewers, but it truly is a heartwarming movie! (Thank you, Jim, for letting me know how much you enjoyed it!) The film stars Edward Herrmann (Hallmark's "The Christmas Pageant," "Gilmore Girls") as a horrible Scrooge-like character, but you'll have to watch and see if this Scrooge's heart ever softens!

You can also watch TCT streaming live on-line, but please note the video is in Central Time - so please keep that in mind when viewing! (It's an hour behind Eastern Standard Time!)

Tonight's Christmas movies on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries are also both ones that have previously aired during this Christmas in July, but they're both so good - they are worth a re-watch! Or, if you haven't caught them, yet... you'll definitely want to settle in and make it your mission to watch "The Christmas Secret" and "Operation Christmas" tonight! I highly recommend both of them!

A Merry Christmas in July to You All

and to You All a Good Day

and a Good-Night!!!

Be blessed, Net

Celebrating My BIRTHDAY with DORIS DAY!!! -- A Dazzling Look at Doris Day's Flair for Fashion in Film!!!

Today is Doris Day's Birthday!!!
(and Mine, too!)

In honor of this special occasion, I have joined... "The Doris Day Blogathon" hosted by: "Love Letters to Old Hollywood", which is taking place April 1-3!

For this 3 Day Tribute to Doris Day, Bloggers were asked to "write about anything relating to Day -- her films, her music, her personal life, her work with animals, her role as a style icon, the list goes on!" The clincher was there were to be "no duplicates." Since most of my favorite Doris Day films were already chosen by other writers, I decided to feature a post today ALL about the Fashion of Doris Day in Film! And, if you are familiar with Doris Day's movies, then you already know - her fashion was a significant factor in each of her films!

Doris Day image via: last.fm

Yellow Sundresses, Hats, Beaded ball-gowns, Gloves, Cardigans, Pearls, Day Suits, Kitten Heels, and so on...
all come to mind when I think of Doris Day movies! As I've looked deeper into her films, I've realized how often Doris transforms from one persona to another, most often Girl-Next-Door to Glamour Girl Movie/Singing Star.

Instead of your simple standard Night and Day transformation, I call it... from Night to "Doris" Day!

image via: heckyeahdorisday.tumblr.com

There's no denying how striking Doris Day was on the big screen, whether in black & white, Color, or Technicolor in 1948 - which is where her film career began with 'Romance on the High Seas.' I can only imagine what movie goers and producers back then must have thought of her as she was the ultimate triple threat. Doris Day could ACT (what a fun, warm, spirited personality she has - which shined on and off screen!), SING (oh my, what a beautiful, cheerful, lilting voice!), and DANCE (she could rival and keep up with all the greats!)... and yes, she was quite Lovely on screen, too!!!

In 'Romance on the High Seas'... Doris Day becomes a performer on a cruise ship and her dresses are certainly show-stoppers! All I can say is - "It's Magic!" (yes, that is also the title of one of the amazing songs Doris sings in the movie!)

In "On Moonlight Bay" and "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" Doris Day blossoms from a rough and tough sporty Tom-Boy into a genteel blushing feminine beauty!

A cardigan with pearls was the perfect look for Doris Day in 'Tea for Two,' as she practiced singing along with Gordon McRae a special tune!!!

In 'Love Me or Leave Me' ... Doris is Dramatic and Powerful in her Performance as singer Ruth Etting. This role required a more alluring look for Doris Day, which is evident in the dresses she wore on stage...
