❤️🏈✨Kick Off Your February Weekend with LightHEARTed Rom-Coms, When Calls the Heart, Classic Christmas Movies, and More to Love!

Happy first full weekend of February, everyone! πŸ’•

February is the month of Valentine’s Day, cozy romances, and a little extra heart! And this weekend is packed with lots of it!

This Saturday, the Hallmark Channel kicks off February with its very first Loveuary movie, while Great American Family is airing the cable premiere of a sweet, lighthearted, romantic-comedy.

And not only is romance in the air, it’s also *Game On* this weekend with the Olympics and the Super Bowl.

A quick reminder for all of you, Hearties... When Calls the Heart will air episode 6 a day early on Saturday, due to the Super Bowl game on Sunday.

A really sweet thing about this upcoming episode is that the new Mountie visiting Hope Valley is Austin Landon, son of When Calls the Heart Producer Michael Landon, Jr., and grandson of Michael Landon (Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza). With both his father and grandfather having roles in period dramas, it’s wonderful to see Austin continue the family tradition. (Austin is pictured above in a Mountie uniform next to Kevin McGarry.)

I also wanted to mention that Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie) is also supposed to return for this episode, although she is not included in any of the press photos or promos released for this episode.

On Sunday afternoon, Great American Family will warm hearts with the Great American Rescue Bowl, featuring the most adorable dogs and cats in need of adoption and a “fur”ever home- hosted by Beth Stern and Trevor Donovan. 🐾❤️

See all of the details for these programs, plus Christmas movie classics, and more, below…

πŸ’•Four Romantic ComediesπŸ’• Coming to Great American Family This February

February is the month of Valentine’s Day and rom-coms, and Great American Family is getting in on the fun by adding four movies to their lineup!

See details below...

πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Meet Me In New York

Starring: Brooke Nevin and Corey Sevier

Premiere Date: Saturday, February 7 at 8/7c on Great American Family

Storyline: Ambitious New York events planner Kelly is one of the best in the business. But when Joe, a stubborn, but influential website editor, hires her to organize his niece's birthday, Kelly soon realizes that she may have met her match.

*Note: This movie was released in 2022 and has been available on several streaming platforms, but it’s finally making its very first cable TV premiere on Great American Family! I’m so thrilled to see this delightful rom-com joining the GAF lineup and truly hope it will continue to encore there. I’ve been wishing for quite some time that GAF would add this sweet film to their movie library and it’s wonderful to see that's coming true!

Movie Reviews:

πŸ’• Meet Me In New York - Starring Corey Savier & Brooke Nevin is certainly family friendly ~Anonymous

πŸ’• Meet Me In New York - First, this movie has excellent leads with Brooke Nevin and Corey Sevier. The chemistry is fantastic, it's funny, entertaining, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! There is one quick comment by Corey's character near the end about living with his previous girlfriend, but beyond that brief mention, the movie is completely G-rated and I loved the interaction between Corey and the young girl who portrayed his niece. This is one I'd love to have on DVD! ~Net

πŸ’• Really enjoyed Meet Me in New York. Corey & Brooke are so cute and the girl too! By the way she’s his niece for anyone who might have been wondering. Christie

πŸ’• Meet Me in New York was adorable! -Maria

πŸ’• Meet me in New York--It was so sweet and cute and funny. ~Sabrina

Love for Starters

Starring: Stephanie Bennett and Jonathan Cherry

Premiere Date: Saturday, February 14 at 8/7c on Great American Family

Storyline: In Love for Starters, when a gifted interior designer (Bennett) learns that her father has brought in a celebrity chef (Cherry) to save their lakeside restaurant, she has no choice but to team up with this unexpected partner to transform the place before time runs out.

Movie Review:

πŸ’• Reel One's Love For Starters (written by Ansley Gordon) is a very lovely movie, and would be a perfect fit for GAF or UP TV. -Maria

πŸ’• Love for Starters was good, just the typical girl comes home to save dad's hotel/restaurant/business. Love Stephanie Bennett and the male lead was awesome. I enjoyed it, just some things were a little wonky like they have this critic coming in only a few days but find the time to frolick around, have a stain/paint fight, go all round and have dinners/lunch. It was so important and the critic was coming in a few days and they have SO MUCH to do, yet they pretty much goof around all the time. I did love that they both found their passions by the end. ~Sabrina

πŸ’• Love for Starters is a lighthearted, family-friendly rom-com. It doesn’t have many surprises, but it’s still a pleasant and enjoyable watch.

Stephanie Bennett is delightfully energetic in the lead role, and her co-star, Jonathan Cherry, makes a nice opposite. It’s especially fun to see Stephanie’s character, Olivia, return home and roll up her sleeves to help redecorate and redesign her father’s restaurant. I enjoyed the talks she had with her father and sister. Along the way, Olivia begins working closely with the new chef, Dax, and their growing connection adds a little extra flavor to the story.

Overall, I enjoyed the beautiful setting next to the water, the cozy restaurant, the sweet moments with family, their creativity in the kitchen, and a dash of romance. Love for Starters is an easygoing, enjoyable film. ~Net

A Missed Connection

Starring: Meggan Kaiser and Alex Trumble

Premiere Date: Saturday, February 21 at 8/7c on Great American Family

Storyline: After finding a spark with a woman on a train platform, a photographer posts a missed connection in the newspaper but never hears from her. Five years later, they meet again while on the way to the same wedding – hers.

Movie Review:

πŸ’• Reel One's A Missed Connection is clean and fantastic! -Maria

πŸ’• Mixed Connection was fun. I’ve never seen the woman before but I liked her. Christie

πŸ’• I watched Missed Connection and I enjoyed it a lot. Loved how Max was able to get the wedding party guests to have fun while waiting for the wedding and the groom. I liked the female lead a lot too, hope we see her more. Loved her GiGi too. Very cute and sweet. ~Sabrina

πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Love Afloat

Starring: Alanna Smith and Travis Bravo-Thomas

Premiere Date: Saturday, February 28 at 8/7c on Great American Family

Storyline: When Lorelei inherits a shabby sailboat from a distant relative, she hires Rob to help clean, fix and sail it from its present location at a Caribbean island to Miami. The two will have to work together as romantic sparks start to fly.

Movie Review:

πŸ’• Reel one's Love Afloat is a fantastic movie, would make a great fit for UPTV or GAF! -Maria

πŸ’• Love Afloat - This movie is family-friendly, but it was just okay for me. The story is sweet and lighthearted, though I did find it a little hard to believe that a young woman would leave her job at such an important moment to go live and work on a boat she inherited from a relative who had recently passed away. That seeemed kinda far-fetched to me.

Along the way, she discovers a journal that shares the relative’s love story, and at the same time she begins to feel a spark with a man who is also searching for direction in his own life. She hires him to help restore the boat and serve as her captain as they sail it back to Miami. Overall, some of the acting was a little off, but all the characters seemed really nice. It's a one-time watch for me, but others who really enjoy boats and stories set on the water, may appreciate it more. ~Net

πŸ’• Love Afloat-I hesitated to review because I appreciate any movie that is clean and family friendly, but I agree Net, it was just okay. Actually, your words are more generous than I can be! I did watch through to the end, but I really struggled to stay with this movie. The acting felt forced and I didn't sense chemistry between the two. The setting was loveley though. ~ Lizzy R.

πŸ’• Love Afloat--I liked it too, though I am left wondering what or where St Tequila is?? When she landed by airboat, there were sky scrapers on the background. Was it just off Miami's coast? Was it one of the Florida keys? I know it's not but anyway. I liked the girl and the guy leads but did laugh at a few things such as her driving the boat and saying "I have never driven the boat in open seas" as you can see land right behind them and close. I am guessing St Tequila or whatever must just be across Biscayne Bay off Miami, and having been in a boat there as a kid when we moved to the keys on our boat, I would hardly call it the open seas. ~Sabrina

πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

I hope you find a movie above that you'll love this February!

UPtv's OCTOBER 2023 TV Movie Schedule 🐎 SEE HERE:

Get roped into the New Movies coming to UPtv on Sunday nights this October...

Movie: Adeline

Airing: October 1, 2023

Starring: David Chokachi, Erin Bethea, Jane Mowder, and John Schneider

Storyline: A small Midwestern community becomes the epicenter for miracles when a mysterious woman brings a healing horse to town.

Movie Review:

🐎 Adeline – This movie is family-friendly for ages 12 and up – due to the story of a teenage girl, a pyromaniac who grew up in foster homes and likes to start fires randomly. There’s also a violent tornado that sweeps through a farm and may be scary for young viewers. As for the horse, I didn’t like the references that referred to him as a healing horse, but I do believe equine therapy can be beneficial to those who are afflicted with various diseases, as well as emotional and physical conditions. The storylines of the young foster girl and a young boy with autism were the most interesting parts of the movie for me. It was nice to see Erin Bethea (Fireproof, The Redemption of Henry Myers) and John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard, Christmas in Tune) in this movie. ~Net

Sweet as Maple Syrup

Airing: October 8, 2023

Note: This movie previously premiered on BYUtv on December 23, 2021. This will be it's first time airing on UPtv.

Starring: Brooke Nevin and Carlo Marks

Storyline: When Rachelle's family maple orchard starts to decline, she enlists the help of Derek, a professor of arboriculture, to heal the orchard in time for the annual maple syrup festival.

Movie Reviews:

🍁 "Just watched it and I have to say it was a fun one. Family friendly and the chemistry was great. Hope this helps!" ~Heidi Joy

🍁 "SWEET AS MAPLE SYRUP "Food" related themes seem to be very popular at the moment and there have even been a couple of other movies with Maple Syrup centre stage. This is another winning showcase from Incendo (it is, of course, family-friendly). A very large part if this is due to the lead actors Brooke Nevin (I wonder why Hallmark have never taken her up?) and Carlo Marks - Rachelle and Derek. Both were excellent in their parts and there was wonderful chemistry between them. Although Derek was a professor and bookish there was nothing boring about him. You had a good idea how the plot would work out but their on-screen presence kept things refreshingly interesting. It was nice to see how romance developed between them from the initial antagonism to the gradual warming and eventually deeper feelings. There was a nice comedy line as Rachelle tried to avoid the match-making tactics of a local doyenne. I also liked Rachelle's brother who was a partner in the business. Knowing how these Rom.Coms usually go I was actually surprised that they didn't introduce a love interest for him - I was actually fully expecting something to develop between him and Rachelle's best friend - although there was a little twist on this at the end. Overall this a delightful, heartwarming movie which I think would appeal to most members here." Forence's rating - 8.

🍁 "Sweet as Maple S ok but very predictable." ~JoCo

🍁 I can't wait to re-watch "Sweet as Maple Syrup" again this weekend. As I stated in an earlier post, that movie is one of my all time favorites. Everything about it is endearing. ~Joan

🍁 Sweet as Maple Syrup was the relaxing break I really needed πŸ˜…. -Maria

The Cowboy and the Movie Star

Airing: October 15, 2023

Starring: Mackenzie Porter and Toby Levins

Storyline: When city girl and actress, Isabella, lands a dream role as a rancher, the studio sends her to live on a ranch to learn the ropes but she soon discovers the rancher, Hunter, is too busy trying to save his ranch from ruin to help make her dreams come true. Can Isabella find a way to help save the ranch and her starring role?

Movie Reviews:

🐎 I watched The Cowboy and the Movie Star and enjoyed it, but it is a one time watch for me. ~kitkat

🐎 The Cowboy and the Movie Star was so sweet! -Maria

**************************************

Country Hearts

Airing: October 22, 2023

Starring: Lanie McAuley, Chris Jericho, and Michelle Nolden

Storyline: The daughters of country music and rock & roll royalty find themselves at a crossroads, torn between following their dreams of performing or helping their father run their up-and-coming horse breeding business. Between old flames, new love, best friends and family - they'll all need the strength of each other to face the next steps.

Movie Reviews:

🐎 I watched Country Hearts on Uptv and enjoyed it. The movie is about a family of musicians who also own a horse breeding farm. Pro wrestler Chris Jericho did a great job of playing the father of a sister duo that must decide to either pursue a music career in Nashville or stay and help with the horse farm. The movie has some good music and a nice Faith element as well. The sequel Country Hearts Christmas premieres next month but I recommend watching this movie first. ~Katie

🐎 I was not familiar with the Country Hearts cast on UPTV when I watched this movie. I enjoyed it more than I thought. There was a lot of faith references which I found refreshing. I agree with Katie's recommendation to watch this movie before watching the Christmas movie in November. I could see this becoming a TV series. – Maire

🐎 However, on a positive note: my feelings about the movie "Country Hearts" were different. The movie started off a bit slow for me and I thought they were a few too many storylines. But, after a little bit I decided the movie was worth my time and finished watching it. The songs were wonderful. Lanie has lovely voice. It brought me joy hearing all of the references to faith and God and believing in a higher power. The importance of family was great to witness. All in all, I loved this movie and I am looking forward to watching the Christmas movie in November. :-) ~Joan

🐎 Country Hearts is fantastic!!! Can't wait for the sequel! -Maria

Love at the Lodge

Airing: October 29, 2023

Starring: Megan Elizabeth Barker and Marc Herrmann

Storyline: Emma, an uptight lawyer, plans the perfect retreat in hopes of making partner. But as Emma and the retreat center's manager, Liam, get to know each other better, Emma starts to learn the value of cutting loose.

Movie Reviews:

🍁 Absolutely loved Love at the Lodge! –Maria

BYU will also premiere "The Secret Sauce", (also from Incendo Productions) on Wednesday, December 29th at 1pm EST. You can see it via streaming - here!

Movie: The Secret Sauce

Network: BYUtv

Original Air Date: December 29, 2021 at 1pm/12c.

Starring: Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier

Storyline via BYU:
Marketing executive Laura is sent to oversee a small-town cook off and entice Jim, the local barbecue restaurant owner, to let her license his family's secret BBQ sauce. While Laura struggles with small-town life, and while Jim resists the idea of joining forces with a large business, the two soon discover how well their differences work together. With a dash of trust and a splash of kindness, Jim and Laura’s friendship slowly marinates into something much sweeter.

Review:

πŸ²πŸ” "The Secret Sauce is family-friendly, delightful and light-hearted. The small town community feel is heartwarming. Overall, the storyline is fairly straight-forward and easy-going, with no major plot twists or surprises. I enjoyed both leads, Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier, and their chemistry was just as sweet as the sauce! Marketing executive Laura Glickman (Tori Anderson) comes from the big city of Chicago to the mid-west, to persuade the laid-back, set in his ways, Jim Covell (Corey Sevier) into selling the recipe to his secret sauce. Course, their relationship may become more than mere business. I enjoyed this charming movie, and I hope you will, too! Fair warning: It might induce you to fire up the BBQ!" ~Net

πŸ²πŸ” "I watched and recorded The Secret Sauce on 12/29/2021 and loved it!" ~Namegirl
