Exciting News! Danica McKellar and Trevor Donovan's New Movie "Grounded in Love" & More Heartwarming Films Coming to Pure Flix This Summer

I recently discovered that Pure Flix has updated its lineup with some upcoming movie premieres, and I wanted to share these exciting details with you all!

First up is The Wedding Arrangement, starring Kristina Cole Geddes and Cody Griffis. If the title sounds familiar, you may remember I first spotted this movie in a Great American Family promo earlier this year (see it here).

It’s very likely this film will also air on Great American Family in the future. However, if you don't want to wait, you can begin streaming The Wedding Arrangement tomorrow, June 19th, on Pure Flix!

Also coming soon to Pure Flix are three titles from Incendo Productions:

As Gouda as it Gets (starring Kim Shaw and Clayton James)

One of a Kind Love (starring "When Hope Calls" actress Jocelyn Hudon and her husband, Jake Manley)

Seasoned with Love (featuring real-life married couple Peter and Julia Benson)

These three films originally premiered on BYU-TV and various streaming sources, with Seasoned with Love also airing on Great American Family this May. I have personally watched all three and I must say they are all cheerful, lighthearted, and family-friendly.

The most exciting movie addition, in my opinion, to the upcoming Pure Flix lineup is the faith-based romantic comedy, Grounded in Love, starring Danica McKellar and Trevor Donovan. And, yes, the movie does have a new title! This is a brand-new Great American Media production that’s expected to premiere on Great American Family this Fall.

However, if you’re eager for an early look, it will be available to stream on Pure Flix starting August 7th!

UPDATE: Grounded in Love will air on Great American Family on September 27th - see press release here!

And lastly… as most of you know, Great American Media has announced their new television series, Crossroad Springs, will officially premiere on Great American Family beginning August 31st, but you can also stream episodes early on Pure Flix starting August 28th.

Movie Reminder: See "Love Knots" on BYU this Thursday!

Get ready to set sail!

Thought I would share a quick reminder that the movie "Love Knots," from Incendo Productions, will be airing Thursday, January 27th, on BYU at 1pm/12c. It was originally scheduled to air on January 1st, but did not. Since then, it has been available, however, to watch online on BYU's web-site - here or through BYU's app.

Jodie Carpenter is the owner of ‘The Loft’, her family’s sail-making company located near quaint Redmond’s Bay Marina. When luxury developer Charles Prescott purchases the port looking to carry out a lavish expansion, Jodie fears that her business and heritage will be torn down and replaced. Joining forces with her friends and some of the town locals, Jodie fights to save the marina, all while vowing to launch a boat she and her father were refurbishing together before his untimely death. Meeting Will Calvin - the architect who developed the plans for the new marina – Jodie spends her time teaching him about the community and hopes he can harmonize his plans with local culture and traditions to ensure the sustainability of already established businesses. While clashing at first, it is not long before Jodie and Will discover their time together has steered into a friendship that ultimately sets sail for romance.

Ted works on love knots: The lover's knot or love knot has a long history of being a symbol of love. It represents the unbreakable bond and eternal connection between two lovers. ⛵️ "Love Knots - MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS Apart from Cupid's On Beacon Street I've thooughly enjoyed the Incendo movies which BYU has aired. Sadly this is the second one which didn't hit the spot. First, it is certainly family-friendly. We've seen similar plot lines before - corporate company buying over property, local businesses and way of life under threat - in this case a new marina is being planned and a family sail-making company is threatened. There's plenty of scope there and no reason why this couldn't have been good. I've only seen one other review (apart from here) and interestingly that reviewer has found exactly the same problem as myself and that is the female lead (Jodie) played by Brooke Williams. At the start she gets right in the face of a photographer (who later turns out to be the architect of the planned new marina) with the result that the guy stpes back and falls into the water. Jodie shows no remorse at all, thinks it's funny and taunts him to get over to the steps to get out, not even offering to help or knowing if he could swim - this was totally unacceptable and I really couldn't get into her character after that. I found her somewhat smug, pretty selfish wanting everything her own way and priding herself on being a big fish in a small pond. Matthew Walker who played the male lead Will was a perfectly nice guy but he lacked drive and couldn't be said to have much charisma - there wasn't much spark between them. There was some nice scenery but the story was slow, dull and predictable as it limped towards the end. In my opinion one to miss." Forence's rating - 4.

New TV Movie Premieres on BYU before 2022!

The first movie listed below is "Sweet as Maple Syrup". I happened to catch it midway through 2 days before Christmas day on December 23rd. After a kick search, I learned that BYU changed their schedule on Christmas week to include this movie. I was rather bummed that I missed it and the opportunity to share it with all of you. (UPDATE: See encore air date and time below!) However, I have good news... this movie is currently available to stream through BYUtv's web-site - here or through BYU's app!

BYU will also premiere "The Secret Sauce", (also from Incendo Productions) on Wednesday, December 29th at 1pm EST. You can see it via streaming - here!

🌳"SWEET AS MAPLE SYRUP "Food" related themes seem to be very popular at the moment and there have even been a couple of other movies with Maple Syrup centre stage. This is another winning showcase from Incendo (it is, of course, family-friendly). A very large part if this is due to the lead actors Brooke Nevin (I wonder why Hallmark have never taken her up?) and Carlo Marks - Rachelle and Derek. Both were excellent in their parts and there was wonderful chemistry between them. Although Derek was a professor and bookish there was nothing boring about him. You had a good idea how the plot would work out but their on-screen presence kept things refreshingly interesting. It was nice to see how romance developed between them from the initial antagonism to the gradual warming and eventually deeper feelings. There was a nice comedy line as Rachelle tried to avoid the match-making tactics of a local doyenne. I also liked Rachelle's brother who was a partner in the business. Knowing how these Rom.Coms usually go I was actually surprised that they didn't introduce a love interest for him - I was actually fully expecting something to develop between him and Rachelle's best friend - although there was a little twist on this at the end. Overall this a delightful, heartwarming movie which I think would appeal to most members here." Forence's rating - 8.

🍲🍔 "The Secret Sauce is family-friendly, delightful and light-hearted. The small town community feel is heartwarming. Overall, the storyline is fairly straight-forward and easy-going, with no major plot twists or surprises. I enjoyed both leads, Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier, and their chemistry was just as sweet as the sauce! Marketing executive Laura Glickman (Tori Anderson) comes from the big city of Chicago to the mid-west, to persuade the laid-back, set in his ways, Jim Covell (Corey Sevier) into selling the recipe to his secret sauce. Course, their relationship may become more than mere business. I enjoyed this charming movie, and I hope you will, too! Fair warning: It might induce you to fire up the BBQ!" ~Net

Storyline: Food influencer Scarlett Bailey is presented with the opportunity of a lifetime to work as a pastry chef in one of New York City’s top restaurants. Her life gets put on hold when she returns to her hometown for her sister Maddie’s wedding. Scarlett learns that her parents have sold the family home, a B&B, to her childhood flame Liam Perry and that Maddie has lost her wedding venue days before the nuptials. Scarlett suggests they host the event at the B&B and works with Liam to pull off the wedding of Maddie’s dreams, trying to put their history behind them. As her dream job in NYC becomes a firm offer, Scarlett is forced to make a decision. She has been falling back in love with Liam and with her childhood home. With the countdown to the wedding day on, will Liam Perry get to kiss the bridesmaid?

🌹 "There's something special about a first love. When Scarlett Bailey returns home for her sister’s wedding, she’s in for a few surprises. First, her parents run a B&B and they’ve recently sold it to her old boyfriend, Liam Perry. And another surprise – her sister’s original wedding venue is ruined, so Scarlet insists on helping out and encourages her sister and her parents to move the wedding outside at the B&B, which means they’ve all got a lot of work to do, including Liam, who will be taking over as the new owner very soon. In the meantime, Scarlett is making cooking videos and auditioning for a pastry chef position in New York. However, her nostalgic spirit is enjoying being home and possibly falling for Liam all over again. But, she has the usual problem – of trying to decide between the big city and small town life. Which way will she decide? Plus, she has a boyfriend in the city – who’s more about climbing the social ladder then spending quality time together. The setting at the country inn is beautiful and the chemistry between the leads is kind of low key, but still very sweet. One major movie error that baffled me and my family – when the sister actually gets married, the father who is incredibly giving and part of the entire wedding planning, building the wedding arch, etc… does NOT walk his daughter down the aisle. She walks all alone, by herself. Very strange. He is, instead, sitting on the front row with the mother. I’m not sure why they would do this, but we thought it was beyond peculiar – a huge miss. It just seemed like a standard wedding tradition that should be included. Overall, You May Kiss the Bridesmaid was a bit predictable; however, it was an enjoyable watch, lighthearted and completely family friendly." ~Net

🌹 "I watched You May Kiss the Bridesmaid. Agree with Net that it was a sweet (and predictable) movie with a rather low-key romance. One thing that I loved was the beautiful setting. And as a former florist and wedding/party planner I really appreciated all the decorations; they seemed realistic whereas a lot of Hallmark movies seem very overdone and fake to me. 🌹 "These BYUtv movies are a real bonus - they all seem to be family friendly and highly enjoyable. This one already had a head start with me as my very favourite plot is that of former loves reunited! There really was nothing new to this, as Scarlett trying to decide on whether to take up a new job in New York comes home for her sister's wedding to find it is in danger of being cancelled and her parents have sold their inn to her old school boyfriend. The film follows their progress as they team up to try and get the wedding re-arranged in the grounds of the B&B and I must say the scenery is lovely. It is pretty obvious from the start that Liam is carrying a torch for Scarlett but her principles means she won't "cheat" on her current boyfriend who is really more interested in advancing his career. I would agree that the romance is low key but there's just something so sweet and warm about it that I found appealing. I was certain that I recognised Kristopher Turner although my husband didn't but when I checked up it turned out he had starred in an old Hallmark movie Love By The Book - I can't remember much about it so it didn't seem to have made much impression on me! These BYUtv film actors seem to have found the secret of eternal youth. In One Of A Kind Love the hero barely looked out of his teens but when I checked up he was 29! Here Liam didn't look very old but I was stunned to discover he was actually born in 1980. The ending was kind of weird - Scarlett realised her true love was Liam and broke off with her boyfrind. When she told Liam of her true feelings a great smile spread across his face, he caressed her hands and they walked off to participate in her sister's wedding. During this they kept giving each other goofy smiles, then at the reception later that night Scarlett walks over to liam they say "hey" and he asks if he can kiss her. It lasts all of 2 seconds and they walk off hand in hand back to the reception - decidedly odd - that apart though they made it clear the path their future lives would take and I do like the i's dotted and the t's crossed! But there was something about this movie which just touched me - this and Hearts Down Under are my two favourite movies to date this year - interestingly neither of them are Hallmark (I know Hearts Down Under was shown on Hallmark but it was bought from Netflix in Australia)." ~ Florence
