Happy Weekend, Everyone!

As we wrap up May on Saturday and step into June on Sunday, we are merely a few weeks away now from the official start of summer! I'm personally ready for some Summer weather; bring on the sunny skies!

I'm highlighting this weekend the new TV movie premieres on the Hallmark Channel and UPtv, plus an Awards Show with special Great American Family connections, and a “new-ish” Reality Show that has ties to Great American Pure Flix.

Two of the movies nominated for Film of the Year, are the Karen Kingsbury film 'Someone Like You,' which aired on Great American Family and stars Sarah Fisher ("When Hope Calls") and 'Unsung Hero,' the real-life story of for KING & COUNTRY, which co-stars Great American Family actress, Candace Cameron Bure.

One of the nominees for TV series is "Homestead: The Series," which features two Great American Family stars, Jesse Hutch and Jill Wagner.

Also, one of the evening's hosts is Christian singer Matthew West. If you've been a Great American Family viewer for a while, especially at Christmastime, then you'll likely remember his beautiful, heartwarming song that was the GAF Christmas theme, Come Home for Christmas.

The picture above features Cameron Mathison and Candace Cameron Bure sitting in a treehouse as they are currently filming a sequel to their Christmas movie, "Home Sweet Christmas," which encores tonight on Great American Family. (see schedule below!)

Candace also posted a video from behind-the-scenes, which showed the treehouse in a studio. Candace's followers were shocked to see the treehouse wasn't actually in the forest, but Candace reassured her followers that the original treehouse is indeed in a forest, but this movie features a movie within a movie, and the second treehouse was built on a soundstage.

Enjoy "Home Sweet Christmas" and more Christmas movie classics airing tonight!

Duck Dynasty - The Revival

“Duck Dynasty: The Revival” follows Willie and Korie and their growing family of adult children and grandchildren, the next generation of Robertsons living on the family homestead in Louisiana. With their dynasty expanding into more than just ducks, Willie and Korie will bring their signature humor and family fun as they grapple with mapping out the future of Duck Commander, watching the kids navigate marriage, children and businesses of their own, and passing down the family legacy.

The All-New Series
Duck Dynasty: The Revival
Airs Sunday, June 1, 2025
at 9pm/8c on A&E

The success of the original A&E reality show "Duck Dynasty" and its recent revival can be traced back to the patriarch of the Robertson family, Phil Robertson. In 1972, after rededicating his life to the Lord and returning to his family, Phil invented his own duck call, laying the foundation for both a business empire and a cultural phenomenon.

But what the Robertson family is truly known for goes far beyond hunting, beards, and duck calls. Although Phil Robertson passed away recently over Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, May 25, 2025, his mission here on earth continues. His greatest legacy is not in fame or fortune, but in his family's unwavering commitment to their faith and their mission to share the Gospel wherever they go.

Phil Robertson's real-life story can be seen in the movie, "The Blind," which is available on DVD / Blu-ray and streaming through Amazon Prime with Great American Pure Flix.

The film is currently Amazon's #1 Best Seller DVD in Faith & Spirituality.

******************

Whether you're watching the new TV movies, the awards show, or getting hooked on the new reality series, there’s something exciting to watch all weekend long!

Interestingly, the two movies airing this weekend are yet again two films that previously premiered on streaming services. In case you missed it, you can see reviews above for both movies from Maria, who is such a great friend and loyal, trusted reviewer here at It's a Wonderful Movie! Thank you so much, Maria!

In addition to the movies, I'm also looking forward to watching the K-LOVE Fan Awards and seeing so many of my favorite performers, including Anne Wilson, MercyMe, Leanna Crawford, Matthew West, Michael W. Smith with for KING & COUNTRY, and many more! Additionally, I'm looking forward to seeing which movie wins the Film Impact Award!

On Sunday evening... watching the "Duck Dynasty: The Revival" I know will be bittersweet since Phil's recent passing. My family and I have lots of fun memorabilia from the original series: t-shirts, hats, duck calls (of course!), books, DVDs, and my nephew even had a fake beard! Even though each episode had hilarious moments (especially with Uncle Si), my favorite part of the original "Duck Dynasty" series was always at the end when the family all gathered around the table to eat, and Phil would lead them in prayer. I'm looking forward to seeing more of that heartfelt faith in "Duck Dynasty: The Revival" and those lighthearted, genuine moments that make the Robertson family so special.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

A Celebration of Christian Music & Movies! DETAILS HERE:

KLOVE FAN AWARDS
an Encore Presentation

Originally, the KLOVE Fan Awards were filmed May 30, 2021 - at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. I just love that they have church style pews there instead of regular seats. Anyway, the awards first premiered on TV last Friday night; however, they are receiving a special encore presentation tonight, Friday, June 11, 2021 at 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central / 5pm Pacific on TBN, Trinity Broadcasting Network. The show also repeats immediately after the first showing. I personally enjoyed the program so much last week, that I wanted to share it with all of you - just in case you missed it.

One on the awards given at the KLOVE Fan Awards was for FILM and TELEVISION IMPACT. The nominees were A Week Away, Church People, The Chosen, I Am Patrick, and I Still Believe. I thought many of you here would be interested since I know you are passionate supporters of The Chosen. Also, A Week Away is a Christian Musical that stars two actors well known from Hallmark - Bailee Madison (Northpole) and Kevin Quinn (A Christmas Love Story). Actress Erin Cahill (A Timeless Christmas), who we also know well from Hallmark, has a role in the Christian movie, Church People. Tune in to see which production won this category!

The awards show was hosted by Christian Singer/Songwriter, Matthew West. If you're not familiar with him, my favorite songs by West are: The God Who Stays, Hello, My Name Is, The Motions, Day After Christmas, and his new song, Truth Be Told, which he sings in the awards program with Country Artist, Carly Pearce. Their collaboration was fantastic! (Also, you may know Matthew West from a small role he had, along with Candace Cameron Bure, in a Christmas movie that aired on UPtv in 2011 called The Heart of Christmas.)

Other music artists you will see in the program include: Joel Smallbone from for King & Country, Zach Williams, the musical groups Cain, MercyMe, We The Kingdom, and Casting Crowns, Michael W. Smith, Natalie Grant, Danny Gokey, Tauren Wells, Crowder, Riley Clemmons, Andrew Ripp, Kari Jobe, Cory Asbury, and more!

I hope many of you will enjoy the program as much as I did! See where you can find TBN below.

*Just a thought...

There are some Excellent Nominees Above, (including the amazing, fantastic little actress Alyvia Alyn Lind of Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors) but I was VERY Surprised NOT to See anything from Hallmark or UP included in the Movieguide Awards, and there are certainly plenty of movies from either network that could have been included.

If Movieguide is looking for the "best, most inspiring movies and TV shows"... then I think they should have nominated Hallmark's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered", from Producer Martha Williamson of "Touched by an Angel". The "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Truth be Told" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Impossible Dream" movies were filled with such incredible, heartfelt inspiration and unwavering patriotism. It's truly shocking this series was overlooked in this category again this year.

Also, Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart" is always filled with beautiful, inspiring moments, especially the last episode, "When Calls the Heart: New Year's Wish". The WCTH series was nominated last year, but forgotten this year.

And... then on UP, many of their original movies are faith inspired: including "I Am Potential" (a touching story of triumph over tragedy), "Like a Country Song" (starring Joel Smallbone of the Christian Brother Duo "For King and Country"), "Christian Mingle" (starring actress Lacey Chabert), and Many More...

Please share -- What did you think of the Nominees this Year?

*There may be even more Nominees and Shows honored in the Movieguide Awards Program... so be sure to tune into the awards show Saturday, February 21st on Reelz-Channel at 7 P.M. Eastern 4 P.M. Pacific!

My take on the Nominees:

I was happy to see... nominations for "When Calls the Heart," from the Hallmark Channel, "Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Ohio" and "Coffee Shop" from UP-tv.

However, I was surprised not to see... nominations for the actors of "When Calls the Heart", nor the TV Movie "The Redemption of Henry Myers", and "Paper Angels".

More than anything else, I was shocked not to see... the inspirational series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered", from the creator of "Touched by an Angel" Martha Williamson, not nominated in any of the categories. I personally think this was a terrible over-sight, of a most deserving series filled with everyday spiritual issues, divine providence, and a deep, abiding faith in their calling.

Now, What do you think of the Nominees? Which ones did you like? Which Movie or TV series, would you have nominated? Please share in the comments below...
