πŸ’’ UPtv's JUNE 2023 TV Movie Schedule ❤️ SEE HERE:

With a new movie from Reel One Entertainment
and two movies from Incendo Productions,
see what UPtv is planning in their schedule for June...

The Wedding Wish

Original UPtv Air Date: June 4, 2023

Starring: Kabby Borders and Alex Trumble

Storyline: A diehard romantic sets a date for her wedding despite still being single. As she goes on a quest to find a fiancΓ©, she’s unaware true love might be right under her nose.

Movie Review:

πŸ’’❤️ The Wedding Wish

Is this movie family-friendly? - I'm not sure. Jenny's best friend is male and his manner and voice is suggestive of gay men we see in other movies but there's nothing definite and he has no dubious interaction with other male characters so I think it's a case of make your own mind up.

*SPOILERS FROM HERE ON"

I have always said that with Rom.Coms you do often have to suspend belief but the main thrust of the plot is just plain daft. Having had a fortune-teller predict she would fall in love and then marry on her 35th birthday Jenny decides to organise the complete wedding -venue, reception, flowers etc all without a fiance and she's not even currently dating. (There's only three months to go)

It's just weird.

Enter Blake (whom you rarely see without an annoying smile on his face) an author who is having mental block and needs Jenny's help for his next book (that's her job).

After an inauspicious start they come to an arrangement to help each other - Jenny with Blake's book and he to pose as her fake fiance in setting up the mechanics of the wedding.

Meanwhike Jenny goes to speed dating and after an initial mix-up teams up with Blake whom she is attracted to and decides he will be THE husband but without telling him.

Just before the wedding Blake asks Jenny to go to Paris with him (no mention of co-habiting so again make your own mind up).

She then winges that they were to get married in a couple of days - big news to Blake who tells her to wise up and immediately breaks things off.

Can you blame the guy for running as quick as he can in the opposite direction especially when they've only known each other for such a very short while?

There is, of course, the obligatory face-off between Jenny and Tyler who at this stage insinuates that he has had deep feelings for her but there is a nice unexpected twist and maybe not the ending you might think.

There is a certain amount of chemistry between Jenny and Tyler although not in spades but she only suddenly decides she has had feelings for him all along after he also has apparently had enough of her.

I don't really buy it.

I personally find the movie superficial and much as I have great admiration for Reel One movies which are generally family-friendly and of a pleasing standard this for me is not one of their better offerings.

Florence's rating - 4

πŸ’’❤️ The Wedding Wish was a bit wacky, but good enough for a 1 time watch. -Maria

Written in the Stars

Original UPtv Air Date: June 11, 2023

Note #1: This movie previously premiered on the BYU-TV network. This will be the first time this film from Incendo Productions will air on the UPtv channel.

Note #2: Much of the movie, based on the storyline we are provided (see below), appears to revolve around the study of horoscopes and astrology. Due to that content, I will not be promoting this film, but I wanted to be sure you all were aware.

Storyline: When Kelsey's magazine approves her pitch about a skeptic's take on love and horoscopes, she is teamed up with Astrology guru, Carter. Clearly from opposite worlds, they put their competing perspectives aside to work the story around a local meteor shower festival. Through both fact and fate, they soon unearth that love really can be written in the stars.

The Secret Sauce

Original UPtv Air Date: June 18, 2023

Note: This movie previously premiered on the BYU-TV network. This will be the first time this film from Incendo Productions will air on the UPtv channel.

Storyline: Marketing executive Laura is sent to oversee a small-town cook-off and entice Jim, the local barbecue restaurant owner, to let her license his family's secret BBQ sauce. While Laura struggles with small-town life, and while Jim resists the idea of joining forces with a large business, the two soon discover how well their differences work together. With a dash of trust and a splash of kindness, Jim and Laura’s friendship slowly marinates into something much sweeter.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ²πŸ” The Secret Sauce is family-friendly, delightful, and light-hearted. The small-town community feel is heartwarming. Overall, the storyline is fairly straightforward and easy-going, with no major plot twists or surprises. I enjoyed both leads, Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier, and their chemistry was just as sweet as the sauce! Marketing executive Laura Glickman (Tori Anderson) comes from the big city of Chicago to the mid-west to persuade the laid-back, set-in-his-ways, Jim Covell (Corey Sevier) into selling the recipe for his secret sauce. Course, their relationship may become more than mere business. I enjoyed this charming movie, and I hope you will, too! Fair warning: It might induce you to fire up the BBQ! ~Net

πŸ²πŸ” I watched and recorded The Secret Sauce on 12/29/2021 and loved it! ~Namegirl

πŸ²πŸ” We watched 'The Secret Sauce' again yesterday. Still cute as ever. Quaint little town and lovely chemistry between the leads. :-) ~Joan

πŸ²πŸ” The Secret Sauce was very cozy and sweet! -Maria

Movie: My Grown-Up Christmas List
*Christmas in July*

Starring: Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry

Premieres: Saturday, July 9, 2022

Storyline: Taylor, a journalist, and Luke, in the military, share a special bond that grows between them over the course of several Christmases that they spend together and apart.

Movie Reviews:

πŸŽ„"Wow. My grown up Christmas wish is not only family friendly but deals with a realistic treatment of sacrifice and commitment. Add this one to the military favorites list." ~JoCo

πŸŽ„"My Grownup Christmas List is family friendly is about a journalist & a military officer. A journalist named Taylor Nicols is ahead to her Grandpa’s Christmas Store. Taylor Nicolas’ Grandoa Frank Tubir’s owns the Christmas Store. I notice Taylor’s real name is Taylor Wynona Nicols whose goes the name Taylor. Taylor meets Captain Luke Malone who served in the military. US Army Infantry. Luke receives a letter when he’s in charge in Winter Mountain Training over a half a dozen countries in Eastern Europe. They’re spending more time together in a year in military for Luke & where’s Taylor works over years or apart over the course of several Christmases as they share a Special bond in between them. Taylor & Luke have a Christmas Wedding. Captain Adam Kearney is a Best Man & Bonnie is Maid of Honor. Captain Adam Kearney & Captain Luke Malone dress in Military Uniforms & Taylor is a Christmas Bride in Wedding gown. The Christmas movie My Grownup Christmas List is so beautiful Christmas movie that inspired a Christmas song as the same name sung by Amy Grant, Kelly Clarkson, or Michael Babel." ~Anonymous

πŸŽ„"My Grown-up Christmas List. Mild spoilers ahead. If you can ignore all the many military faux pas, then this is definitely a family-friendly, cute movie with Christmas warm fuzzies. I loooove Kevin McGarry and I was valiantly trying to ignore all the military missteps and generally enjoying the movie.... until.... Hallmark had to go and throw in a little civilian excursion to a remote, secret, snowed-in, military training base in Eastern Europe (the whole scene was pointless and not necessary for the movie -- hi honey, I just thought I'd pop over and visit since I miss you so much and wanted to kiss you while you're on your dangerous military mission -- eye roll). Seriously, Hallmark?!? That totally blew it for me, I couldn't ignore that bit of silliness like I could ignore all the other stuff. It's like they don't even TRY to inject a semblance of some reality. Cute movie but not worth saving on my dvr, not even for cutie-patootie Kevin. ;) If you're able to ignore the military stuff, then this would be a sweet Christmas movie to watch." ~~Jane

πŸŽ„"My Grown-Up Christmas List - Family-friendly? Yes - Keeper? Not for me - I appreciate the uniqueness of this movie, showing a relationship over a period of a few years. But, therein lies the problem. Maybe it's because they had to cram so much into a 90-minute time frame, but it seemed like no sooner did they meet that they were expressing their love for one another. We never see them really getting to know each other and seeing their relationship blossom. And I found it jarring how the two of them are out at night, then a commercial break, then suddenly they're at his house where she's meeting his parents. I don't know, it makes me wonder if there was a lot left on the cutting room floor that didn't make it because of the time constraints. And like Jane said, the whole idea of her going to visit him while he is on a dangerous mission (with his dad's help!) is really far-fetched. One more thing - calling this movie "My Grown-Up Christmas List" after the song is stretching it. This movie has little to do with the lyrics of the song. I was really hoping for a greater tie-in to the song and didn't get it." ~Mark 25

πŸŽ„"Yes, there was no arch of swords, but there was a lot of hair on Kevin McGarry which was not a regulation length haircut. At the wedding Luke's awards crooked on his uniform jacket. All-in-all I liked it. Poor Kayla must have been freezing in that wedding dress!" ~Namegirl

πŸŽ„" "My Grown-Up Christmas List" – I enjoyed this family-friendly Christmas in July movie; however, like others mentioned, I thought the relationship was quickly rushed in the intro. It really could’ve used one of those filler segments where you see a couple enjoying one another’s company over a longer course of time. Also, the military portion at the end might not have been overly realistic. I agree. However, I liked how Taylor was willing to go to the ends of the earth (figuratively speaking) to be with Luke. It was nice to see how Taylor was supportive of Luke and his military service. No matter the distance, Taylor wanted to wait for Luke and plan their future together. Seeing the day-to-day service and sacrifice of those in the military and those who wait for them back home was extremely touching. The movie was filled with gorgeous snowy scenes and Kevin McGarry in a Santa suit and military uniform. "My Grown-Up Christmas List" is a movie I look forward to re-watching this Christmas season and beyond!" ~Net

Movie: Christmas in Toyland
*Christmas in July*

Starring: Vanessa Lengies and Jesse Hutch

Premieres: Saturday, July 23, 2022

Storyline: A toy store data analyst attempts to save hundreds of jobs right before Christmas to help keep the in-store experience alive.

Movie Reviews:

πŸŽ„ “I watched Christmas in Toyland, and I loved it! Cute, fun, clean, haven't enjoyed a Hallmark movie like this since The Wedding Veil trilogy.” –Maria

πŸŽ„ "Christmas in Toyland is family friendly. Charlie Sawyer is a toy store Data Analyst at Big Treddy Bear Toy Company from Planning & Analysis Department who hopes to save hundreds of jobs during the Christmas season. Grant Levinston is a boss at Big Teddy Bear Toy Company. in Lincoln Tunnel, NJ. David is kinda a Christmas Grinch. The Corporate sends Charlie to New Jersey to toy store called; Big Teddy Toy Company. Grant reads a book A Magic Elf Dust by W.J. Levinston with a box of magic dust is kinda a green sprinkles: dark green sugar with a tiny scoop is a magical mythical mysterious magic dust to make wishes. Grant & Charlie are at his Grandpa’s Christmas store called; “Trinket Town”. Grant is a woodcarver to make Santa & Sally Claus prototype from Charlie’s sketch book. Charlie wants to be to design toys. Grant has a Sister named Isabel “Izzy” & his Niece named Emma. Charlie’s drawing toys from herb sketch book." ~Anonymous

πŸŽ„ "Watched Christmas in Toyland. So sweet and heartwarming." ~ denise

πŸŽ„ "Christmas in Toyland - Family-friendly? Yes - Keeper? Unfortunately No - I really wanted to like this movie! It has toys (yay!), a decent plot, and Vanessa Lengies, who I really enjoyed in Heart of the Holidays. And yes, the movie is family-friendly and cute. So why is it not a keeper for me? I can't get past the storyline and Vanessa's annoying character... If you need a summary of the plot, Anonymous gives a nice one above. Now, given the circumstances, wouldn't you think that she would show up at this store and say something like, "I'm here to see why your store is the one successful store in our chain, because we need to pass on the reasons to the other stores and hope for their success, otherwise, Corporate is going to close all of the stores, including yours?" That would have had him jumping to help her right from the start. But no, she just says she's there to see why his store is successful, nothing more. Of course being the Christmas season, he tells her he doesn't have the time, and she's surprised in his lack of interest. But she tells him the truth later on. Second - and this one really gets me - she seems to have no idea on how to find out why his store is successful. She arrives and wants to look at his books (which, being the data analyst, wouldn't she already have had this information in her office??). It doesn't seem to cross her mind to observe the store in action! And then, about two-thirds into the movie, her friend and co-worker tells her that she should "focus on what he does differently". She replies, "You're right!" I'm sorry, but this character just doesn't come across as the sharpest pencil in the case. Third, she mentions to her boss about this store being a flagship store. Her boss seems shocked and then pleasantly surprised by this idea. Wait, the boss never thought about having a flagship store before? And I don't think they know what having a flagship store means, because even though they decide to have one, they are still going ahead and closing most of their other stores. No, you give the stores a chance to replicate the flagship store. And then of course, what a great idea to have the flagship store in kid-friendly Las Vegas! So much doesn't make sense! And finally, I was getting tired of her puzzlement and her denial and her giggles over liking this guy. She seemed very immature. And both of the main characters came across as stiff. Okay, maybe with so many great Hallmark movies in past years I'm getting overly picky, but in my book Hallmark is 0 for 3 in their Christmas movies this season. As many of us have said before, it's time to put quality over quantity!" ~Mark 25

πŸŽ„ "Totally agree with Mark 25. For me, this movie was a cute one-time watch (maybe?), but definitely not a keeper; my time would've been better spent doing a re-watch of one of the older, tried & true Christmas movies I have on dvd or dvr." ~Jane

πŸŽ„ "CHRISTMAS IN TOYLAND - I do really liked this one. The female lead was new to me but she was very likable and had a great chemistry with Jesse Hutch. It was a really cute and fun Christmas movie with some cliches mixed in, and it was quite enjoyable to watch." ~CH Mom

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries July Movie Premiere:
(All premieres are 9 p.m. ET/PT.)

Movie: 14 Love Letters

Starring: Vanessa Sears, Franco Lo Presti, Madeleine Claude

Premieres: Sunday, July 31, 2022

Storyline: After historic love letters start anonymously appearing in Kallie Sharp's mailbox, the hobby farmer searches for her secret admirer and opens herself up to love.

Movie Review:

πŸ’•✉ "Got the chance to see 14 Love Letters and the good news is that it is definitely family friendly. It seems that the movies Hallmark buy in never quite measure up to their own productions and half way through this seemed to be the case. Basically Kallie (Vanessa Sears) was receiving anonymous historical love letters in her mailbox and had to figure out who was sending them, there was also the subplot of a neighbour wanting to buy her home for the land to set up a riding stable and she didn't want to sell. It was hard to get into and plodded along and then it was as if someone suddenly turned a switch and the movie took off for the second half was really good. I remember Franco Lo Pesti from his UPtv movie The Story Of Love with Brittany Bristow earlier this year and he's certainly a hunk - I thought he and Vanessa Sears whom I was unfamiliar with teamed well. I knew right from the beginning who was sending the letters - or I thought I did - I was wrong!! Overall probably worth a watch. Florence's rating 4 for the first half, 8 for the second so a 6" ~Florence

My Quick Take...

All of the *Christmas in July* movies look like they could be a lot of fun, as long as they are family-friendly. I'm especially looking forward to My Grown-Up Christmas List since it has a military theme. And... maybe, since I like Kevin McGarry, too!!!
