Hallmark Channel to Air Unscripted Series on Monday Nights

Due to the success of Christmas at Sea this Summer, Hallmark is introducing a fresh slate of unscripted, feel-good programming on Monday nights starting this Fall.

The lineup kicks off September 15th with Season 2 of "Celebrations with Lacey Chabert," with Lacey returning as host and executive producer to honor eight inspiring individuals with meaningful surprises.

Other series included are "Finding Mr. Christmas," the competition series, and "Baked With Love: Holiday," hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley.

New Unscripted Series Honoring Mothers Premieres Tonight on the Hallmark Channel

Happy Monday, everyone!

I am sending out a quick reminder today for those of you who may be interested...

The all-new unscripted series "The Motherhood" starring Connie Britton premieres today, Monday, May 5th, with back-to-back episodes on Hallmark Channel at 8pm/7c and 9pm/8c.

Following tonight, new episodes will air every Monday at 8 p.m./7 c. on the Hallmark Channel and will stream the next day on Hallmark+! This is all part of Hallmark's May for Moms theme.

Details via Hallmark: Connie Britton, along with three experts in parenting, style, and home — Angela Rose, Destini Ann, and Taryn Hicks — help single mothers create more balanced and fulfilling lives for themselves and their families. Together, they form: The Motherhood.

I know some of you have expressed interest in this, while others have said you are not interested at all in Hallmark's reality-type shows.

Bubba, Booger, and Cody start exploring new ways to expand the company, and each is determined to do it on their own terms. Bubba Thompson is a rancher and skilled carpenter. He and wife, Kaley have a fun-loving relationship, often laced with good-humored “bets.” They have a daughter, Andie.

Retired pro-rodeo, calf-roping champ, Cody Harris produces popular rodeos. As he works at life on the other side of the arena fence, he is supported by his wife, Misty. They are devoted to each other, often sharing poignant moments and coming together to make those big life decisions. They have a young son, Carter.

Chris “Booger” Brown is an expert cattleman and a renowned horse and dog trainer. When it comes to joking around, he can give as good as he gets, but should a friend or neighbor need his help, the jokes take a back seat, and he’s ready to help in an instant. He is married to Jaclyn, a pharmacist, and is dad—and cowboy mentor—to young son, Matthew.

Having achieved great success with three original, primetime scripted series “When Calls the Heart,” “Good Witch” and “Chesapeake Shores,” Hallmark Channel expands its original programming slate with the primetime reality series “Meet the Peetes.” The series follows the lives of actress and activist Holly Robinson Peete and her husband Rodney Peete, a star in the NFL for 16 years. Each episode chronicles their lives as they navigate the waters of raising kids and dealing with the same trials and tribulations facing many American families. Production on the series is slated to begin this fall and will premiere February 2018.

With daughter Ryan in college at New York University, their son with autism RJ working for the Los Angeles Dodgers he decides he’s ready to leave the family nest. On top of that, Holly's mother Dolores announces she’s ready to move out too - the Peetes are in a period of change that will continue to unfold in "Meet the Peetes" only on Hallmark Channel.

My Take...

For years there have been many families who have opened up their homes and lives to the world of reality television... including: the Robertson family on AE's "Duck Dynasty", the Duggars on TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" and "Counting On", the Bates on UP's "Bringing Up Bates", the Roloffs on TLC's "Little People Big World," Bill & Jen on TLC's "The Little Couple," and as you all know... I could go on and on! This is, however, Hallmark's first venture into the "reality" world. What do you think?

I feel this will certainly draw interest from a whole different Hallmark viewing audience. As long as the show is more true to the Hallmark image (which I'm sure it will be!), and a lot less like a reality show that could, say, be on E! (if you know what I mean!) - then I think everyone will be excited to watch this new reality series about the Peete family on the Hallmark Channel in 2018!

Do you remember western shows like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Rifle Man, The Lone Ranger, or the Roy Rogers show? I know these were all popular in my parent's generation - in the 50's and 60's and I enjoyed them years later in re-runs. Still do. Those tales never grow old, and yet, Cowboys, yes, real-life All-American Cowboys still exist! And, INSP is bringing the real-life stories of three friends, these three modern day cowboys, along with their families and everyday life to our TV screens each week - so we can see what it's like for cowboys today.

"It's Christmas time in "O Little Town of West Monroe," where the Robertsons are partaking in traditions new and old. However, wrangling all the Robertson men requires divine intervention; Jep is afraid he won't remember his one line, Si can't let go of his tea cup and Jase gives Willie a hard time about his role as Joseph.

Meanwhile, Phil enlists Kay and Jessica to go hunting for the perfect Christmas ham but it doesn't take long for him to regret it. Reality TV

Lately, I've found myself - watching a lot more Reality TV. My favorites are the Amazing Race, the Apprentice, the Biggest Loser, American Idol, 18 Kids and Counting, Little People Big World, and Table for 12!

I know there are plenty more out there, but those are the ones I enjoy the most. Usually, I record them and fast-forward through commercials, or boring performances (American Idol)... so that helps to save on time.


The next question is, who do I hope wins?

Amazing Race (CBS)- Mother & Son Team - Margie & Luke

the Apprentice (NBC)- my pick is the Vivacious, Joan Rivers

the Biggest Loser (NBC)- Tara, she's Incredible! She never gives up - what a Great Competitor! I love how she doubts herself sometimes in the challenge, yet keeps going and going with determination, and in the end, she defeats those who were way in front of her. And if it can't be Tara, I'm pulling for Mike... he is so sweet - I just hope America votes him in for the Finale and he does well.

American Idol (FOX)- Kris Allen is my favorite of the Final 3 ! I just loved when he sang the country song in his own ballad tone - "To Make You Feel My Love" I have it downloaded from Itunes and it is just a beautiful version.


As far as my other favorite family reality shows on TLC - 18 Kids and Counting, Little People Big World, and Table for 12 ... I just love watching these precious families.

18 Kids is the Duggar family, who have 18 children. I am impressed with the love, respect, and moral discipline shown with such honor and grace in their home. I hope that it is inspirational to other families - we certainly need more like them today.

Little People Big World - Talking about Inspirational... nothing holds this family back - including their height. I so admire them for all they accomplish in life - and they have a very united precious family.

Table for 12 - another beautiful family with 10 children, this time. 2 sets of twins and one grouping of sextuplets. One of the little girls has cerebral palsy and it so precious to see how the other children and parents treat her so gently and kind. She's such a precious, beautiful little girl. I love how they, too, are such a close knit family.

Thank you, TLC, for giving us such great family programming. It seems to be lacking on TV sitcoms today.
