Celebrate Christmas on NBC this holiday season! 🎄✨

NBC has officially announced its lineup of annual holiday programming, featuring cherished classics!

I’m so delighted that Frosty and Rudolph will be lighting up NBC again this year, and Christmas Eve just wouldn’t feel complete without 'It’s a Wonderful Life'! It warms my heart to see these beloved classics return to the holiday schedule. Every year, my family gathers around to watch together, and without fail, our eyes fill with happy tears as we’re reminded just how rich George Bailey’s life truly is... surrounded by the love of family and friends.

With NBC's schedule now revealed, it’s the perfect time to take a closer look at when these specials will air.

The classic animated tale of the curmudgeonly Grinch who's hoping to remove the joy from Christmas but, ultimately, has a change of heart.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN
Thursday, Dec. 4, 8:30-9 p.m. (encore on Dec. 9 at 8 p.m.) The cherished original holiday special about how Frosty, everyone's favorite snowman, came to life one day.

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
Friday, Dec. 5, 8-9:15 p.m. (encore on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m.)
The classic animated special offers the perspective of Rudolph, who's told he couldn't play in any Reindeer Games due to his glowing nose. Rudolph sets out on a fantastic journey where he meets Hermey the elf, prospector Yukon Cornelius and a host of Misfit Toys, all while trying to hide from the Abominable Snow Monster.

PASSWORD HOLIDAY SPECIAL
Monday, Dec. 8, 10-11p.m. (encore on Dec. 18 at 8p.m.)
"Password," hosted by Keke Palmer and starring Jimmy Fallon, returns to NBC primetime to ring in the holiday season with a very merry, special holiday episode. Celebrity guest Jonathan Groff spreads good cheer, pairing up with contestants to compete against Fallon and his teammate in a festive edition of the iconic celebrity word game.

SHREK THE HALLS
Tuesday, Dec. 9, 8:30-9 p.m. (encore on Dec. 17 at 8 p.m.)
This half-hour animated special debuted in 2007 and features a Christmas twist on the original "Shrek" characters.

A MOTOWN CHRISTMAS
Tuesday, Dec. 9, 9-11 p.m. (encore on Dec. 17 at p.m.)
Hosted by Smokey Robinson and Halle Bailey, this special will feature performances by Motown legends and today's hottest stars celebrating iconic Hitsville U.S.A classics and their favorite holiday songs.

NBC 2025 YEAR IN REVIEW PRESENTED BY ACCESS HOLLYWOOD
Thursday, Dec. 11, 9:15-10 p.m. (one-hour extended version airing Dec. 17 at 10 p.m.)
What: "Access Hollywood's" Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover host NBC's primetime special, recapping the most talked about entertainment stories and buzzworthy headlines of the year.

JIMMY FALLON'S HOLIDAY SEASONING SPECTACULAR
Wednesday, Dec. 17, 9 -10 p.m.
Jimmy Fallon searches for the holiday spirit in New York, exploring a surreal and magical apartment building where behind every door a different celebrity joins him for a performance from his festive holiday album, "Holiday Seasoning." IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE

NBC again presents this Frank Capra classic starring Jimmy Stewart. An angel is sent from heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed.

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
Thursday, Dec. 25, 8:30-11 p.m.
On the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all of the citizens of the town.

Beginning Thursday, December 7th, you can stream the all-new original movie, Rescuing Christmas, on Hallmark's streaming source, Hallmark Movies Now. The movie stars Rachael Leigh Cook and Sam Page.

Synopsis: In a world where Santa is real and wants to drum up some holiday spirit, two of Santa’s elves, Chuck and Debbie, devise a plan to grant one human on Earth three wishes to kickstart the holidays. My Weekend Christmas Movie Picks...

As I look back over the list of NEW Christmas movies above, I think there may be some fun, lighthearted, new Christmas movie options this weekend, minus the HMM movie, which has a somewhat mysterious air about it.

Both the new Great American Family movies look potentially good. My that Christopher Russell has been busy promoting his Christmas movies this holiday season, with 2 on GAF and another coming up next week on the Hallmark Channel! I'm hoping his Christmas movie premiering this Sunday night on Great American Family, Peppermint & Postcards, is just as cute as the title!

I'm also curious about UPtv's Christmas at the Amish Bakery and how accurately they will portray the Amish community. The story seems familiar with saving the family business and all, but I'm hoping it will also be heartwarming.

Plus, I don't know how many of the classics I'll squeeze into my schedule this weekend, due to plans with my family, but I'm always delighted to see movies like It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, It Happened on 5th Avenue, etc... and I'm hoping to catch some of those, here and there!

It's a bit harder to find Christmas after Christmas on TV, but you know I'm always searching for it!

This week, as we head into the New Year, we can continue to find Christmas 24/7 on the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and nightly on GAC Family, plus, all day this coming weekend! I've included some of the prime-time highlights for Hallmark in my Christmas TV Schedule, along with GAC Family's complete Christmas movie lineup for this week!

In the New Year, 2022 - we will find Christmas movies Thursday night on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Friday night on the Hallmark Channel, and something exciting and new... Christmas movies will air Saturday night throughout the year on GAC Family!

Even though Christmas day has passed, the song Where are You Christmas ends with a hopeful message...

Original-Length "Grinch" to Delight Family Audiences for the First Time in Over a Decade

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Nov. 17, 2016 - The full version of the classic holiday musical special "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will air Friday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC.

"Grinch," which is celebrating its 50th year on television, has often been trimmed from its original 26-minute running time, but this year NBC will present the first full telecast of the complete original version in more than a decade.

The beloved Christmas special combines the genius of Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) and animator Chuck Jones to bring the timeless book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" to television. The special features the voices of Boris Karloff as the Grinch and the narrator, and June Foray as Cindy Lou Who.

Chuck Jones, who directed many of the most acclaimed Warner Bros. animated shorts, produced and directed "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," which was written by Geisel based on his book.

The classic tale involves the schemes of the green and small-hearted Grinch to steal every material vestige of Christmas from the Whos living in the town of Whoville, but the Grinch ultimately discovers he can't remove the spirit of Christmas from the hearts of the Whos.

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is moving to NBC, since making a three-year licensing deal with Warner Bros. domestic television distribution, and (via The Wrap) they are planning to air this classic animation two times during the Holiday Season.

A New Grinch Movie

The Grinch got a wonderful, *awful* idea!”

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are Developing an all new movie animated version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Through several sources we have learned that it will be a CG animated feature.

The “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” original cartoon animation was first created in 1966, based off the book by Dr Seuss. It was later adapted to Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a live-action movie version, in 2000, with Jim Carrey famously portraying The Grinch.

Like many, my favorite is still the original cartoon version, though I do think the Cindy Lou in the movie version is absolutely adorable. I just wish the scenes, especially the one where she sang the lovely song, “Where are you Christmas?” could have been a bit brighter. I know they probably wanted the setting to be darker to fit her solemn mood, but we could barely see her. That’s one thing I always think of when I think of the Dr. Seuss books, from the time I first read them as a little grirl... how they are filled with excitement, action, brightness, and color! I do hope the new creators will keep that in mind!

“Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot,

but the Grinch, who lived just north of Whoville - did not.

The Grinch hated Christmas - the whole Christmas season.

Now, please don't ask why; no one quite knows the reason.”




One of the creators of this new film, Christopher Meledandri, has also produced Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who in 2008 and Dr. Seuss' the Lorax in 2012. I have seen "Horton", and thought it to be bright, fun, and cheerful.

If you are a fan of this beloved classic, then we shall all have high expectations for this new animated 3d movie version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”!

“Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer.

Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp,

so long as we have hands to clasp.
