My Boyfriend's Back!

I'm so excited that the Hallmark Channel has decided to bring back
to their network this year, one of their first Christmas Movies...
"A Boyfriend for Christmas!"

The Movie first premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2004...
starring Kelli Williams as Holly Grant and Patrick Muldoon,
as Ryan Hughes / Douglass Firwood.

It's such a cute holiday movie, that most would probably label it as a
Chick-Flick, but I know all the guys in my family like it, too...
so, it's truly a great romantic comedy for everyone to enjoy!

And Yes, it is Available on DVD, too!

I'm so glad Santa gave us this early gift this year!

A Boyfriend for Christmas will always be
one of my absolute favorite Hallmark Movies!

And, other Returning Favorites are:

Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus
(Also, premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2004!)

It is Available on DVD, too!

Such a fun, family movie!

Plus, the Hallmark Channel is playing it's Sequel Movie, too:

Meet the Santas
(Premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2005!)

Please see the Christmas TV Schedule
for times and dates, for these movies, and more!

Christmas Movies start Tonight!

Remembering Charles Durning

On what would have been his 90th Birthday... we remember Actor, Charles Edward Durning. Mr. Durning was a great character actor who performed in over 200 Movies, tv shows, and plays.

February 28, 1923 – December 24, 2012

You may know Charles Durning from:

Movies: The Sting, Dog Day Afternoon, O Brother, Where Art Thou?

TV Movies: Captains and the Kings, Death of a Salesman

TV Series: Evening Shade, and a recurring role on Everybody Loves Raymond

Christmas Movies: Mrs. Santa Claus, A Boyfriend for Christmas

(and many more, here)

Charles Durning, who portrayed a wonderful Santa Claus, passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2012.

Durning was born in Highland Falls, New York, the fourth of ten children. His four brothers James, Clifford, Frances, and Gerald Durning survived to adulthood, but his five sisters lost their lives to scarlet fever and smallpox as children. His mother, Louise was a laundress at West Point, and his father, James Durning was an Irish immigrant who gained U.S. citizenship by joining the army. Durning was raised Catholic, and was at one time considering becoming a priest. (excerpted from Wikipedia)

In his mid-teens, Durning left home to find work. He had a series of factory jobs before he discovered acting. As an usher, Durning got first-hand experience in vaudeville at a Buffalo, New York theater. (biography.com)

As well as having a great acting career, we honor Mr. Durning for being a WWII veteran and his service to our country. Drafted at age 21, he was first assigned as a rifleman with the 398th Infantry Regiment, and later served overseas with the 3rd Army Support troops and the 386th Anti-aircraft Artillery (AAA) Battalion. Durning participated in the Normandy Invasion of France on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and was among the first troops to land at Omaha Beach. (Wikipedia) Durning suffered machine gun wounds to his right leg and shrapnel injuries over his entire body. He also received eight stab wounds from a German soldier, whom he killed with a rock in hand-to-hand combat. As the lone survivor in his unit, Durning was immediately shipped to England to recover, and returned to the frontlines for the Battle of the Bulge in late 1944. (TCM biography) Captured during the Battle of the Bulge, Durning managed to survive a massacre of American soldiers being held in Belgium. (biography.com)

In recent years, Mr. Durning would honor our Veterans by being a honored guest speaker at the National Memorial Day Concerts in Washington, D.C. For his valor and the wounds he received during the war, Durning was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, three Purple Heart medals, and the World War II Victory Medal. (Wikipedia)

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Durnings three children, family, and friends.

On this day... we fondly remember this Legendary Actor and American Hero.

Christmas Town

MOVIE REVIEW

Christmas Town:

Movie for Christmastime.

CAST:

Nicole de Boer ... Liza McCann
Patrick Muldoon ... Kevin

PLOT:

from ION-

Christmas Town, starring Nicole de Boer (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Dead Zone) and Patrick Muldoon (Starship Troopers, Stigmata, Melrose Place), brings Liza McCann (de Boer), a cynical young reporter and single mom, and her eight-year-old son to visit her father, a stuffy ex-banker living in a small town in Central California known as "America's Christmas Town."

At the edge of town, a mysterious warehouse sits behind gates. While Liza reunites with her father and unexpectedly meets Kevin (Muldoon), the cute, laid back local café owner who believes in the magic of Christmas, her son sees the spirit first-hand as he sneaks over to the warehouse and spies what he believes to be elves, a sleigh, reindeer and even Santa Claus. In the end, Liza learns how to believe again - not just in Christmas, but in the possibility of love.

Movie Review:

This movie had an interesting start but quickly grew odd and strange. It seemed like Liza and her son were only visiting her fathers home for a couple of days - and suddenly her son found Santa and his warehouse and Liza falls quickly in love with a local guy who works with her father and always seems to be hanging around. This movie is innocent and decent... with all the magic and fantasy of Santa Claus... but it just doesn't have much content. The acting was weak with some characters and I just didn't like the script, the boy, who seemed to old for his part with Santa, or Patrick Muldoon's hair.

If you are looking for a cute Christmas Movie... skip this one and get A Boyfriend for Christmas, instead.

See or Skip:
I suggest Skipping this one!
