Hello, friends!
Another weekend is upon us! Is it just me, or is it amazing how much time has already passed since Christmas? Only 2 more weeks left in January! And... I must admit, my family and I are still watching leftover Christmas movies!!! In fact, I've been meaning to add more Christmas movie reviews, and if you'd like to share some, too, please feel free to do so. I know many of us are still trying to play catch up with the Christmas movies we missed over the holidays.
Each season of the year brings it's own special uniqueness and beauty! This winter, however, has been exceptionably cold for us here in the Midwest, so I've appreciated the beauty more from the indoors, than when I must be out in it, as we do chores around our farm. We attempted to build a snowman, but the snow was just too cold to pack or roll. Funny enough, you actually need a little warmer weather, around 30 degrees. (Yeah, that is considered warm for us these days!)
Currently, we have a good 3-4 inches of snow on the ground, and we are anticipating, maybe, a couple more inches coming our way soon! Then, next week, we are expecting the extreme Polar Vortex. Brrrr!!! Is your area receiving it, too? Even the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., which historically has taken place at the West Front of the Capitol, is moving indoors to the Capitol Rotunda due to severe weather concerns for Monday, January 20th. I think that was a very smart decision. I'm praying anyone who is outside will be able to find shelter in these bitter cold days to come.
If your weather is also frigid, then this weekend is definitely the right time to stay in, keep warm, and enjoy a good movie or two!

Episode 3 - All That Glitters
Elizabeth and Nathan uncover Oliver’s secret, and Rosemary worries Lee has a secret of his own. Allie’s interest is piqued when Earl Wyatt returns to town.
I hope you all have a nice, enjoyable weekend. Be well, everyone. I've had lots of extended family members have the cold and flu, lately, so I know it is going around something fierce... so be sure to take care all.
I'm looking forward to seeing the movie on Great American Family. I love the story premise of searching for the owner of a valuable china piece. That sounds very interesting. It kind of reminds me of two Hallmark Christmas movies I love, The Christmas Ring and A Little Christmas Charm.
For all of you "Heartland" fans, don't forget, UPtv will have the second episode of Season 17 on Sunday night at 7pm/6c.
Also, on Sunday night... I'm looking forward to the new episode of "When Calls the Heart." I really appreciate the way the importance of family and faith has been woven into this season. I'm hoping we will see even more faith elements. I've included a video clip of one of my favorite scenes from last week's episode below. I hope it touches your soul as much as it has touched mine.
Please Note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies or TV series episodes premiering this weekend. If you'd like to post a review on whether these films are family-friendly, please share in the comments below. Thank you so much to everyone who shares with us.
Keep warm this weekend, everyone.
"God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’ So that everyone he has made may know His work, He stops all people from their labor."

Monday can't come soon enough. :))
ReplyDeleteOnly watching 1 movie this very long awaited weekend. God Bless America! -Maria
Maria, Yes, Monday is a wonderful, special day! I'll echo your words... God Bless America, indeed! :)
DeleteI just loved that scene Net of Rosemary singing that beautiful hymn to her adorable sleepy toddler. It was perfect!! I also loved the potluck scene and was so happy to see Oliver included to the family time especially since he’s young and alone. And it was sweet seeing Elizabeth and Nathan watching Uncle Bill playing with the kids.
ReplyDeleteI’m curious about the new one, especially with the grown up Earl Wyatt arriving to town. But someone tell home to cut of that long hair. Hahaha;)
Abigail, I'm glad you enjoyed this precious scene from When Calls the Heart, as well. So many good moments within one show. For me, it's the family or community moments that make it extra special. Rosemary and Lee are still my favorite couple.
DeleteAnd that Wyatt, oh my... I think he may be trouble for poor Allie. Hopefully, Oliver will keep an eye on her.
Net, A different actor who portrayed as Earl Wyatt…
DeleteOpal tells Allie, Earl Wyatt is a such a bully, stay away from him
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. We've had snow over the past week, and more coming on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteExtreme Cold Watch here in Ohio for late Sundy Night through Wednesday morning. Chance to hit -25 degrees wind chill. We still have up all our Christmas decorations so a great time to enjoy that and watch some of the new Christmas movies. Who said Christmas ended? Not I.
ReplyDeleteJim, I hear ya! Christmas continues on my TV and in my heart! Take care, my friend, & keep warm inside there in Ohio. We have very close temps to yours. I feel like we are in the North Pole!!!! :)
DeleteHave a great weekend everyone! We have a busy one planned and excited for Monday as well! Net I hope you can avoid the flu, it is bad this year. Our daughter caught Influenza A from school the week before winter break and it was terrible, took her out for almost 3 weeks, thankfully she was better just by Christmas. One day she woke up and was like “mommy my eye is bleeding” and I about passed out, she had popped a blood vessel in her eye from her terrible cough and I was about to rush her to ER, thankfully my husband calmed me down. I had never seen that before, but her pediatrician said it happens from all the pressure from the cough, even in childbirth I guess….but she had a fever for 7 days straight, it was so scary her little body that sick. Me & our son took Tamiflu and I think that helped us (he never got sick thankfully) and my husband always seems to miss it. He said he doesn’t have time to wash his hands throughout the day like I do so his immune system is strong as an Ox π If you can, get the Tamiflu prescription, it may help lessen your symptoms if you get it. I’ll be recording my Argentine Heart π
ReplyDelete~Paula
Paula, Oh my, honey... that does sound scary with the blood vessel popping. I would've been terribly frightened, too. Bless her heart. That must've been awfully scary for her, as well.
DeleteI'm glad to hear you, your husband, and son did not get sick. That's wonderful, and I'm so glad your little girl was able to recuperate in time for Christmas. What a gift for you, I'm sure.
I did want to share with you that I saw a story on my local news a few years back that shared some scary side effects for Tamiflu. It was one of those segments you see that you just never forget. I know all drugs are really scary these days, even Tylenol, but I just wanted to share what I heard.
I can't locate the exact news segment, but I did find an article that shares some of the same information: https://www.news5cleveland.com/news
Since you and your family have taken Tamiflu, it sounds like you aren't affected like others, but I just wanted you to know, just in case.
Thank you for your well wishes for my family. We are all doing well, but like I said, lots of my extended family has had it. So, I'm hoping and praying we can avoid it, too.
Blessings to you & your family! :)
Oh wow Paula! I’m so sorry, that would frighten me too! I’ve never seen anything like that happen. I’ll be praying for your little girl and for the Lord to keep the rest of you healthy! Love to you my friend! How are you doing considering the fires?
DeleteThank you for this beautiful post, Net. My family and I have been watching When Calls the Heart and really liking this season so far. It’s the only new show I let my kids watch live. The way everyone in Hope Valley is there for each other is so nice. If only the whole world was like that. The scene you shared with Rosemary and Goldie was one of my favorites too! I could watch it over and over again. It fills my heart with such peace. Melissa
ReplyDeleteMelissa, Thank you for your sweet comment! I'm so glad the scene I shared from WCTH touched your heart! I also feel the same way each time I watch it. That moment is so beautiful and peaceful. Blessings to you! :)

ReplyDeleteI have been discovering older Disney movies I have never seen before like The Summer of The Monkeys on YouTube. It stars Corey Sevier.and is based on a book from the author of Where a the Red Fern Grows. I wish more movies like that were aired on GAF.
ReplyDeleteMisty
Misty, Thank you so much for mentioning this movie. It's been years since I've seen "The Summer of The Monkeys," but I do remember loving it! That would be wonderful to see some classic films like that.
DeleteI watched Classic Disney Movies
DeleteAnother special WCTH episode. Did not disappoint! I loved the Lucy and Ethel moment of Rosemary and Elizabeth spying on the fellas and Hickam was so funny being suspicious of that moving bush!
ReplyDeleteBut another scene that was sweet was Elizabeth taking on Oliver and claiming him has her student. And Nathan did the same for him. That poor guy really needs to be part of a family. I love the way the writers are telling his story. It's a good lesson for us too, we need to be more hospitable to those who don't have family or are away from their own.
This January I’ve been watching a mix of Christmas movies I’ve been meaning to catch up with, lots of the classic hallmark winterfest movies, which I miss, Polar Opposites at least had a wintery feel, but I used to love the wintery themed movies, it was the perfect transition after Christmas, I’ve rewatched the GAC winter movies too.
ReplyDeleteIv been doing the same, catching up on Christmas movies recorded. I also feel the same, the past winter movies had a real winter feel. I especially loved “Hearts of Winter” with Jill Wagner and “Winter in Vail” with Lacey Chabert.
Delete~Paula
I do love both of those movies, suck a warm cosy wintery feel.
DeleteHi everyone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maria. "My Argentine Heart" was safe enough for a 1 time watch. It was just an 'okay' movie. Nothing really memorable happens. The chemistry, between the leads, was average at best. The location was beautiful.
My husband and I are continuing to really enjoy this season of "When Calls the Heart"! Erin and Kevin have palpable chemistry. I really like the character of Oliver. The actor, who plays him, is great. I am charmed by him. :-) And, I amused by the antics of Erin and Pascale. They are so adorable.
Aw! "A Priceless Love" was such a cute movie. I am really becoming a fan of Erin. She is a natural actress. She had good chemistry with the male lead. And, I wish I owned every single piece of clothing she wore throughout the movie. Every outfit was adorable. Plus, I would love to visit a vintage store like that. I know I would be really old now, but I always felt I was born in the wrong decade. I have always been drawn to vintage clothing, items, movies and songs from the 30's and 40's. :-)
