"Elkhorn" Season 2 Premiering on INSP

Critically acclaimed western drama, Elkhorn, depicting Theodore Roosevelt’s early life as a Cowboy returns Thursday, October 2nd at 9PM ET on INSP with Season 2. Future episodes will also air on Thursday nights.

In INSP's press release, Craig Miller, VP of Original Programming at INSP shared, "The first season of Elkhorn introduced audiences to a young Theodore Roosevelt. Fresh from personal tragedy and political disillusionment, he sought refuge and purpose in the rugged Dakota Badlands. In season 2, our story picks up with a more seasoned Roosevelt who is no less driven but continuously plagued by mounting tensions in the territory—and within his own ranch."

SEASON 2

Episode 1: A Fine Welcome
After a winter in New York, Theodore Roosevelt returns to the Badlands to find that his old adversary, the Marquis de Morés, is grazing his cattle on Elkhorn land. Roosevelt and his men are soon thrust into a violent range war to defend their claim.

Episode 2: Secrets in the Wind
Theodore Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch is threatened by the arrival of a fearsome stranger from Chicago, searching for an associate who went missing a year ago, a mystery that could implicate Elkhorn and lead to the downfall of the Marquis de Morés.

Episode 3: Under Suspicion
While Theodore Roosevelt and his men help catch a horse thief, the town of Medora is thrown into turmoil when its enigmatic founder, the Marquis de Morés, is unexpectedly arrested and taken to Bismarck to stand trial for the murder of a rancher.

Episode 4: By the Horns
Convinced that Theodore Roosevelt is behind his arrest for murder, the Marquis de Morés sends a threatening letter challenging Roosevelt to a duel. While the Marquis sits in jail, his rivals in Chicago dynamite one of his refrigerated train cars.

Episode 5: Trials and Tribulations
Theodore Roosevelt travels to Bismarck to attend the murder trial of his old adversary, the Marquis de Morés. Back in the Badlands, the Marquis' wife, Medora, is visited by her father, who tries to convince her to leave her murderous husband.

Episode 6: Black Jack
When Theodore Roosevelt assists a Sioux brave in finding his stolen horses, they help identify a notorious Badlands horse thief. Though found innocent of murder, the Marquis de Morés must still repair his damaged reputation with his father-in-law.

Episode 7: Home to Roost
A Chicago cattle baron sends two enforcers to make deals with Medora's ranchers, leading to a deadly confrontation with the town's founder, the Marquis de Morés. Sensing trouble, one of Theodore Roosevelt's men heads off to Montana to find some help.

Episode 8: War
When a ruthless Chicago cattle baron invades Medora with a legion of gunslingers, Theodore Roosevelt must join forces with his old adversary, the Marquis de Morés. Together, they hatch a desperate plan to save their town from certain destruction.

Greenlit for a 2nd Season

[Indian Land, SC – October 28, 2024] – Western themed general entertainment network INSP today announced that the highly acclaimed series ELKHORN has officially been greenlit for a second season. The new season is expected to premiere on INSP in the fall of 2025. The announcement comes from Craig Miller, VP of Original Programming for INSP and an Executive Producer for the series.

ELKHORN, a scripted period drama inspired by true events, brings to life the dramatic story of young Theodore Roosevelt (played by Mason Beals), who abruptly leaves his promising political career in New York for the unforgiving Dakota Badlands. There, he carves out the sprawling Elkhorn Ranch and transforms himself into a cowboy and a cattleman.

“When we left Theodore Roosevelt at the end of season one, the future president had somehow managed to establish Elkhorn as a formidable ranch while still reeling from the deaths of his wife and mother,” said Miller. “In season two, Roosevelt finds enemies at every turn as he struggles to keep the ranch afloat.”

In ELKHORN season 2, Roosevelt and his fellow ranchers must defend themselves against the men of the Chicago Beef Trust, who embark on a campaign of sabotage and violence to protect their stronghold on the local cattle market.

Roosevelt continues his power struggle with the enigmatic town founders, the Marquis de Morés and his wife, Medora, who reign over the townsfolk with threats, intimidation, and hired guns.

Amid this turmoil, Roosevelt also learns to navigate the cramped quarters of the Elkhorn cabin with the wives of his partners, Bill Sewall and Wilmot Dow. Though Roosevelt agreed to let the men bring their wives when they returned from Maine, the women’s presence is clearly unnerving for the recently widowed Roosevelt, who moved to the Badlands to escape the painful memory of his own wife's death.

Details via INSP: When a lightning strike spooks the herd, an injured Theodore Roosevelt acts quickly to stop a stampede during the fall roundup. Back in town, the annual roundup dance brings the community together, friend and foe alike. What should be a joyful celebration turns ugly when Paddock decides it's time to settle old scores with the Elkhorn crew. The dance is also Wilmot's best chance to propose marriage to Rosie, but her heart is torn between a simple life as Wilmot's wife and a more alluring future as Medora's protégée. With the Elkhorn ranch secured for the winter under the watchful eye of Merrifield, Roosevelt returns to New York to be reunited with his daughter.

Happy (early) 8 Months 'til Christmas!

Tomorrow is April 25th, and if you've been a follower here at It's a Wonderful Movie for a while, then you know on each 25th day of the month we highlight the day as we Countdown to Christmas!
