SHINING THE LIGHT
Speaking of time-travel... I pray our hearts will continuously travel back in time throughout this holiday season to the very first Christmas, as we treasure the true meaning of the season, our Savior, Jesus! May we cherish the Christ-child as his own mother did...

"All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured these things and pondered them in her heart."
(Luke 2:18-19)

    2. I plan on watching the Timeless movie today hopefully during my little one’s nap time that I nanny. And the Wise Men movie tonight of tomorrow, but I did catch the 2nd episode of Mistletoe Murders and it was very fun. I really enjoyed it. The characters grow on you more and more. I loved the Christmas socks. So sweet.

I’ve seen fabulous views of Candace’s movie so I got to see it sometime today. Looking forward to it!

  2. They Holidayscapes channel on Frndly TV is fantastic! Such great music and scenery for Christmas season. I asked them if they are going to have the Happy & Friends Yule Channel this year and they said they don't know yet. I doubt it though because they didn't last year. I'm referring to the live guide channel, not the On Demand version. They Holidayscapes channel is so wonderful though.

Also, it can't be emphasized or said enough on how GREAT this site that Net runs is for my mental and spiritual well-being. I truly can't put into words the joy it brings me. How it lifts me when I am down and how it excites me with a spiritual and bodily high. It really is a 'pearl of great price" that we all share here.

    1. Jim, awwww… thank you, my friend! Truly, this little blog is only special because of wonderful people like YOU who stop by, share, and make it feel like a family. I’m so grateful for everything you share here.

And thank you for the tip about the Holidayscapes channel on Frndly! I definitely need to find it in the guide and take a little trip of my own to “Holiday Island”... haha!

But seriously, your comment meant more to me than you'll ever know. You and everyone here are all so dear to me.

Have a wonderful weekend, and Happy Christmas movie watching!!! :)

  4. Timeless Tidings of Joy is a movie I have been waiting to watch. CCB’s 40’s hairstyle is lovely. I have a picture of my Mom with my Dad (in uniform) soon after he returned from serving in the Pacific in WWII. In the picture she styled her hair in a similar manner. Good memories. She passed a few years back at age 96. Thanks GAF.

Net- Jim could not have said it better. You are greatly appreciated from a beautiful site to the message of goodness through God. Bless you.

Like you Net & Abigail, I’ve got to see Candace’s movie. And it’s great to see so many favorite classics this weekend! I’ve gotta see Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Christmas Bells are Ringing, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Following Yonder Star, Next Stop, Christmas, & Once Upon a Christmas Wish! Not sure I’ll have time after that for any of the new stuff. LOL!

  7. Timeless tidings of joy is such a great, heartwarming movie with a nostalgic feeling. The message of the movie "trusting God for providing your needs no matter what other people or the world says and just keep doing what God has called you to" got me thinking a lot. I liked Candace and Paul in this movie a lot. And I especially liked Natasha Bure.
This movie is definitely worth watching.

  14. Does anyone remember the old movie, "Battle of the Bulbs"? I think it was from 2010. I thought it was really funny. I wish it was available to stream or even buy. If anyone knows anything, please let me know! 😁

    1. Grace, YES!!!! I remember it!!! Battle of the Bulbs has Marv from Home Alone! It is such a fun movie! I love the light competition and fun games they play. Such a cute movie with an even sweeter ending.

I have extra details on the movie here (from 2010!):
      https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2010/09/battle-of-bulbs-hallmark-channel.html

As for buying it on DVD, I'm unfortunately only seeing options that aren't for U.S. DVD players. If you have an all-region player it might work.

See DVD options at Amazon here:
      https://amzn.to/49qhArs

And if you want to stream, the best option is probably Hallmark+, which requires a paid subscription.

Hope this helps! I would love to see this movie again, too!!! :)

  16. Reposting my old review of Saving Christmas Spirit just in case anyone was trying to decide whether to watch (I think I watched in 2023 or 2024?)

Saving Christmas Spirit. I watched this because it was filmed in Scotland and the lead actor was the same as in Lacey’s Scottish movie. The setting was stunning and a lot of the indoor sets were cozy but Lacey’s movie was, of course(!), a better production. I thought most of the Scots actors were good in this one but Ashley Newbrough, though beautiful, was a tad bit stiff or silly or something. Plus, the one thing I don’t love – in my love affair with Scotland – is the obsession with faeries and ghosts and such, and this movie was full of that. I don’t mind an occasional tall tale being woven but this movie had too much of it. And because Ashley was an archaeologist there was a lot about searching for ancient druid relics and shrines to goddesses – those are not really things I’m interested in. Also, naturally, because we’re in Scotland, there was a lot about whiskey and saving the family distillery; and in fact, their current whiskey blend is called “Christmas Spirit” so thus the movie’s title. I’d say this was okay for a one-time watch, but mainly for the incredible views, cozy sets and the lovely Scottish accents. There was also a cute subplot with a young, teen romance (probably better than the main romance!). Was it family friendly? Eh? Not entirely. Ashley’s boss back in the U.S. (who is not a huge part of the movie) seems to probably be gay and there is a point in the beginning of the movie where he recommends a place in Scotland for Ashley to stay and then I THINK he mumbles something about having his anniversary with “Steve” at the same bed and breakfast but it was not very clear and could easily be glossed over or fast forwarded through. But there’s also the focus on magical faeries and ghosts, as well as all the whiskey to consider. (This movie was made in 2022 but is currently available streaming on Roku and XumoPlay.) ~~Jane

    1. Thanks, Jane, for reposting your review. I tried to watch this last night, but - as you said - Ashley came across stiff and I couldn't get into her character. And too much distillery talk - it got boring quickly. Finally, you were right about Ashley's boss being gay - he does mention spending his anniversary with another guy. I turned this off after about 30 minutes.

  21. Three Wisest Men- I really enjoyed this movie! I loved the first 2 and this one was no different. I think all 3 brothers are so funny on their own (one neurotic, one too laid back and then Andrew lol) and together they have great chemistry. I wish the wedding planning had been shown as I think that would have been super funny, as well as maybe the labor, but I know it’s impossible to show all 3 brothers’ stories in one movie, was just left wanting to see more of the storylines. Also I appreciated the adorable babies shown at the end, so stinkin cute! Most movies bring out a fake baby/doll and it is so obvious it’s not a real baby πŸ˜‚

I loved Timeless Tidings of Joy so much! I loved the history and the journey went on to learn more about her grandmother. I usually have a hard time with time travel stories but this is exactly how I like them! All the performers were so great in their parts. I absolutely was left wanting more and in the best way!! The use of the themes of faith and community were so wonderful also!!

  24. My wife and I really love the Mistletoe Murders mysteries. We think they are the best mystery movies Hallmark has made in some time. Hope they are coming out on dvd. Also, still hoping for Return to Christmas Creek and Love in Paradise. Pretty much given up on Farewell Mr. Kringle, but still hoping. Maybe for Christmas this year.

  25. Three Wiser Men Review:

I don’t now if I would call this fam friendly or not. No issues with same sex, but it was very evident that the two brothers were living with their girlfriend and fiancΓ©. Which is a bummer. There were parts I liked, but that and the disrespectful boy was too much.

I also thought it was odd to see Lochlyn Munro play an older man. He’s probably around the same age as Andrew Walker.

  26. 'Tidings for the season' is such a sweet, heartwarming movie with the vibe of 'old' Hallmark. It has got a heart. All these feel-good stories about hometown heroes during the holidays covered by Adam (B.J. Britt) have really touched my heart. Seeing all this kindness has got me realized that even though we're living in the world where there's so much evil, we can still see so much goodness out there. We just need to open our hearts to notice and be focused on that, not all the bad things around us.
And I was so thrilled to see Tamera Mowry-Housley, I really like her acting, she's so genuine, she's like a sunshine.
    Truly recommend this movie
