New Christmas Movie Starring Rachael Leigh Cook

I saw the announcement for this Christmas movie yesterday, and I was rather excited until I read the plot.

Rachael Leigh Cook & Freddie Prinze Jr., who you may remember starred together in the late 90s movie, She’s All That, will star opposite each other in the Fox Entertainment Studios film, The Christmas Affair. As the title suggests, the film hints at some romantic entanglements, possibly involving affairs between two couples.

Here's the storyline provided by Deadline:
The Christmas Affair follows superstar sportscasters Natalie (Cook) and Gabe (Prinze Jr.), who form an unlikely alliance after their spouses are caught cheating weeks before Christmas. As holiday chaos and media attention mount, they begin to fall for each other. But is this just a rebound…or the start of a real Christmas romance?

Would love to know your thoughts on this in the comments below. While I've always enjoyed Rachael in most of her previous Hallmark Christmas movies, especially Cross Country Christmas, this is one I'll personally be skipping. I absolutely don't like the idea of spouses cheating on each other, even if they are already being cheated on. What do you think? Please share below.

Stay tuned for more Christmas movie news.

  2. What in the world were they thinking here? I can’t imagine anyone being excited to watch this. Thanks for the warning. Christie

  3. I might be okay with it if they meet and have shared hurt from being cheated on in the past, but the timeline suggests this happens just weeks (days?) after their spouses cheat. So, I would definitely see that as rebounding or ignoring your pain with a fling. That makes it a bit problematic for me. And why couldn't they make the cheaters boyfriend/girlfriend instead of spouses? Doesn't sound like a fun Christmas plot! There's nothing funny about affairs - they destroy lives. Not gonna lie, though, I am very tempted to watch it to see them together again. Just wish it was a better plot.

    1. melnewlife, I agree, it would've been much better if they had been dating and not actually married.

The storyline is such a disappointment; would have loved to have seen them reunite otherwise.

  4. Well I am guessing this is on Hallmark....we should not be surprised. Speaking as someone that will be married 49 years in November I just don't understand it! When I married it was for a lifetime and although as all couples go through some ups and downs (especially after having cancer) it should always be worked through. Having breast cancer and over a period of about three months I went through a biopsy, lumpectomy and mastectomy (they found dirty edges from the lumpectomy) followed by 6 months of chemotherapy I thank the Lord that I had the husband with me. It was hard on both of us but we both supported each other! I truly believe that the Lord brought us together for a reason and he couldn't have planned a better union!

    1. Janet, Thank you for sharing your story! Wow, 49 years of marriage is a beautiful testimony to your commitment, faith, and love. What you and your husband have been through together, especially facing such a difficult health journey, is incredibly inspiring. Your testimony was such a blessing to read.

By the way... thankfully, this movie is not for Hallmark. The Deadline article says it's being made for Fox Entertainment Studios.

    1. dstoutholcomb, I was also thinking of Lifetime when I read this. Very unfortunate for any time, but especially for a Christmas movie.

  7. Thank you for the heads up Net! Such a terrible storyline, and what’s makes it even worse is they are married couples, not dating. On another note, I grew up watching Shes All That, so nostalgic to see them together, bummer!

  8. This is a movie to avoid. Why do they think anyone would want to watch this evil on display? There is never enjoyment in heartache.
