GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY
ANNOUNCES CANDACE CAMERON BURE
AND CAMERON MATHISON
STAR IN
HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS,
PART OF
GREAT AMERICAN CHRISTMAS 2024

NEW YORK, NY – August 21, 2024 — Great American Family, a leader in the production of high-quality, Original Christmas movies, announced start of production for Home Sweet Christmas, a World Premiere Original Movie, starring Candace Cameron Bure (“Ainsley McGregor Mysteries,” A Christmas Present, My Christmas Hero) and Cameron Mathison (A Kindhearted Christmas, A Merry Christmas Wish, “General Hospital”), which premieres during the network’s beloved franchise, GREAT AMERICAN CHRISTMAS 2024.

In Home Sweet Christmas, Sophie Marlow (Bure), a successful mergers and acquisitions attorney, is called home to Waynesbridge, Washington, following her great uncle’s passing. Uncle Henry left Sophie 60% ownership in his Marlow Maple Meadows, a sprawling patch of sugar maple forest. Though Sophie hasn’t been on the property in decades, she immediately begins retracing the happy steps of her youth before encountering Sam (Mathison), her long-lost, childhood friend. Sam has returned to the farm after learning Henry left him the other 40% of the property. The legacy property means a quick sale is likely, though Sophie and Sam will discover neither of them is ready to let go just yet.

Home Sweet Christmas is a Syrup Studios production in association with Candy Rock Entertainment. Mick MacKay serves as Producer, and Paula Elle directs an original screenplay written by Kevin Commins and Robin Dunne. Executive producers include Candace Cameron Bure, Ford Englerth, Jeffery Brooks, Holly A. Hines, Eric Jarboe, Gerald Webb, Trevor McWhinney, Paula Elle, and Martin Wood. My Quick Take:

Okay... so this story sounds good, but it also sounds very familiar. Am I right? Who is shaking their head yes right now?

In fact, Cameron Mathison's previous Great American Family Christmas movie with Jill Wagner, A Merry Christmas Wish (which I love, by the way!), has nearly the same storyline. Only in that movie, Cameron's character doesn't have any percentage of ownership to the farm; however, the two were old friends who enjoy reminiscing and their time on the farm together. And Jill's character, like Candace's, is also a busy, powerful business woman from the city.

Those similarities aside, I'm sure this new Christmas movie will have it's own uniqueness. Candace Cameron Bure and Cameron Mathison are two of my favorite TV movie actors, so I would never miss a movie with them in it, especially one on Great American Family. I look forward to seeing how this movie will differ from previous movies with this familiar theme.

  3. This kind of story is probably the most overused. It could still be good or at least watchable but i'm little disappointed that the writers aren't trying enough to come up with something more original.

  4. This is the best news! I love both Candace & Cameron, too.

The story doesn’t get any originality points. Frankly, if these two just sat in a room with a Christmas tree I’d watch. Wonder what happened to the other movie, though?

  5. So true Net. It's something how some of these "favorite" actors and actresses of ours get so buried in our hearts over the years that we love them in anything and everything. Our eyes light up when they are even mentioned. Candace and Cameron could sit on a couch holding candy canes with a Christmas tree lit up behind them and not say on word for two straight hours and I would STILL watch it. There are others just like that for me also.

  6. Yes this storyline has been done, but I love it! I personally do not mind overusing these storylines because it’s just classic Hallmark for me and it has that familiarity and nostalgia that Hallmark is known for. It totally reminds me of “Truly, Madly, Sweetly” with Nikki Deloach and Dylan Neal, which I absolutely loved; I have watched it many times. With that being said I hope there are some of my fave storylines thrown in their this Christmas season: being stranded at the airport, being stranded in another town at Christmas and trying to get home, trying to save the family bakery/bookstore/business, going back home to care for an ill family member and running into a high school sweetheart and so on.

  7. Slightly off-topic: Has anybody asked Paul Greene about why we haven't heard from him for an upcoming Christmas movie? I think it's very strange. Susie Abromeit is probably absent, because she is mourning the recent passing of her mother.

This story line also reminds me of All of My
Heart with Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott where they inherited half each. So Hallmark and GAF have just about done this story line enough! Lol! But I will watch...love Candace and Cameron! Should be good!

  9. Has a bit of SWEET AUTUMN vibe, too. But that happens in movies and books.
