NEW YORK, NY – July 10, 2024 – Great American Family, an industry leader in the production of quality original holiday content, announced Trevor Donovan (‘Twas the Text Before Christmas, Jingle Bell Princess), Jen Lilley (A Paris Christmas Waltz, “Days Of Our Lives”), Laura Osnes (Candace Cameron Bure Presents: Just In Time, A Dash of Christmas), Jesse Hutch (A Christmas Blessing, B&B Merry), Jillian Murray (A Brush With Christmas), and Julia Reilly (“County Rescue”), star in the network’s first-ever ensemble Christmas Original Movie, A Little Women’s Christmas, which premieres this holiday season as part of Great American Christmas 2024. Also starring Gladys Knight who performs her new original Christmas song, “Joy.” Great American Christmas is in its fourth season and the franchise has quickly become one of America’s most popular programming events.
A Little Women’s Christmas is a contemporary retelling of the beloved classic novel, following the lives and loves of the March sisters in a small Tennessee town at Christmas. Jo March is played by Jillian Murray, Trevor Donovan is Friedrich “Fritz” Baehr, Meg March is played by Jen Lilley, Laura Osnes plays Beth March, Julia Reilly is Amy March, and John is played by Jesse Hutch. The one-and-only Gladys Knight performs “Joy.”

A Little Women’s Christmas is directed by Brandon Clark. The original movie adaptation is written by Dione Sheehan and Taylor Bird. Executive Producers are Brian Bird, Brandon Clark, Tai Truesdell, Darin Chavez, Brian Williams, Charly White, Lori Overholt, William McDowell, Joyce Miller Roy, Jesse Hutch, and Gladys Knight. I am absolutely thrilled to finally officially share this movie and its remarkable cast—brimming with talent—with you all! Wow! I think, next to A Christmas for the Ages last year, this is Great American Family's biggest movie premiere with well-known stars.
Update: In addition to Jesse Hutch serving as producer, his young daughter, Charlize, also auditioned and received a role in this - playing his daughter!
Book lovers will surely be intrigued by this modern adaptation of this beloved classic novel. FYI, Lifetime also had its own spin on Louisa May Alcott's story with a Christmas movie back in 2012 titled The March Sisters at Christmas.
Although A Little Women’s Christmas is a modern-day take, I hope this new Christmas film will still heartily focus on the close-knit relationship of the March sisters in a genuine way. The sisterly bond is what I believe has endured readers to this story for generations. If they remain true to that spirit, then I believe no matter what year they set the story in, viewers will be captured by the tales of the March sisters once again.

Thank you Net for sharing more exciting news from Great American Family! I loved Trevor Donavon and Jillian Murray in Prescription for Love so I am thrilled to see them paired up again. I also loved Jesse Hutch and Jen Lilley in B & B Merry so it will be fun to see them paired back up again as a married couple this time. Of course I love Laura Osnes and I am happy to see Julia Reilly back from County Rescue! I also just put it together that Kyle Kupecky is Karen Kingsbury's son in law! The cherry on top is to have Gladys Knight back on GAF! I loved her in I'm Glad it's Christmas. She did an amazing job singing Go Tell it on the Mountain! This ensemble movie really has all the makings to be a Christmas classic!! It is looking to be a spectacular Great American Christmas Year 4!!

ReplyDeleteWow! What a fantastic cast! Given that both Gladys Knight and Laura Osnes are in this, I'm hoping that there is lots of great classic Christmas music (along with Gladys' "Joy" song). As Gena said, if this is done right, this could become a classic! So far, this is the 2024 Christmas movie I am most anxious to see!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear this. I do hope we see Jen Lilley also getting her own movie to lead on GAF since she has been with them all this time and we all love her. So happy she is in this movie and everyone else in it is awesome too. I cannot wait for more of GAF. I have had it on my tv since it started Christmas in July and I have got to watch so many movies and it has been so wonderful.

ReplyDeleteI personally love this! It reminds me of Casey Elliott and his daughter, Eve, in the "Destined at Christmas" movies. Eve is a fantastic young actress, such a natural.

ReplyDeleteThis is exciting but I don’t want it to be sad. (I just recently read the book and I always forget that it’s sad.) I do not like sad movies in general but sad Christmas movies are the worst! Hopefully, since they’re deterring from the book and giving Beth a love interest, they’ll also change the fact that she dies. Otherwise, I don’t know if I can watch it. -Anonymous1
