"UNTHINKABLY GOOD THINGS" TO DEBUT ON HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES

"UNTHINKABLY GOOD THINGS"
TO DEBUT ON HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES
August, 2022

Details via Hallmark Press Release:

Karen Pittman, Erica Ash, Joyful Drake, Jermaine Love and Lance Gross Set to Star in the All-New Movie

STUDIO CITY, CA - March 22, 2022 - Production has begun in Italy on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries first movie under the network's Mahogany banner, "Unthinkably Good Things" (working title).

The network has cast Karen Pittman ("And Just Like That," "The Morning Show"), Erica Ash ("Survivor's Remorse," Uncle Drew) and Joyful Drake ("Let's Stay Together," "The Quad"), as well as Jermaine Love ("Outer Banks," Rogue Warfare) and Lance Gross ("House of Payne," "Our Kind of People").

Mahogany is the first of several new content initiatives and brand extensions that will tap into the rich 100+ year legacy of the Hallmark brand. The slate of movies are rooted in the iconic Hallmark greeting card line of the same name. Mahogany will expand Crown Media's content offerings with powerful storytelling that exemplifies Hallmark's core ethos - family, community, human connection, positivity and the transformational power of love - through the unique lens of Black culture.

"Mahogany is a beloved brand by millions of consumers around the world and we are thrilled to bring the brand to life on screen with this first new movie," Toni Judkins, SVP Programming Development, Crown Media - Mahogany shared. Judkins continued, "We are committed to telling beautiful, emotionally rich, authentic stories that show Black women experiencing the joys of love through romance, sisterhood and community."

At a crossroads in her career and love life, Allison (Pittman) is in need of the love and support of her two friends Melina (Drake) and Reesa (Ash). When they visit her in Tuscany, the reunion causes each woman to reexamine the state of her own life and relationships. While they have different personalities and perspectives, they know each other's truths and help to make life-changing decisions. Between the good wine, delicious food, a healthy serving of romance, set against the beautiful backdrop of Tuscany the three women relish in the importance of friendship and inspire each other to make this next season the best one yet and to take the leap to pursue the life and loves they have always wanted.

"Unthinkably Good Things" is a Kronicle Media Production. Korin D. Williams, Monique Nash and Cristina Giubbetti are Executive Producers. David Wulf is Producer. Terri J. Vaughn is directing a script by Cas Sigers-Beedles.

  1. I really don't think there's much interest at all in these movies.
Also, I'm glad to see that The Mistletoe Promise is finally coming to DVD! -Maria

Also there seems to be a surfeit of Italian connections recently - Florence

    2. Maria, I'm hoping the release of "The Mistletoe Promise" on DVD means we will see even more Christmas movies from the past released, too. This one was kind of out of the blue!

    3. Oh there’s interest. It surprises me that people don’t seem to think there’s interest in content geared towards other races. I think it’ll be a beautiful story, just like all the others we’ve loved through the years. Btw, Mahogany has the best cards, by far!

  3. I'm so very happy that the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel is showing more and more romantic dramas. I'm one of the few who don't watch the murder mysteries so paying extra for the channel for only Christmas movies is painful! And an extra "yay" for movies like this one that are filmed on location somewhere beautiful.

    1. Amy G, Thank you for sharing! I actually enjoy the mix of movies on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. While I do love a good mystery, too, I sure wish they could create non-murder mysteries. It's nice to see they are creating more heartwarming movies.

Since this story in "Unthinkably Good Things" is centered around three best friends, it kind of reminds me of "The Wedding Veil."

  7. Thanks for letting us know about this. I'm really excited to hear that Hallmark is expanding to include even more stories and communities. I can't imagine why anyone would be less interested in these movies than in the usual fare with virtually all-white casts, when all the other storyline elements sound like the Hallmark movies we tune in for.

    1. Who Dun It, There was a comment during Hallmark's TCA event that more mysteries would be on the way. I'm paraphrasing here. However, we don't know, yet, if this means ALL NEW Mysteries or continuations of the older mysteries we love, like Mystery 101, Hannah Swensen, etc...

There was a hint, however, that more Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies could be coming!!! (see details here)
