A Love to Remember

Original Air Date: April 11, 2021

Starring: Rhiannon Fish and Edward Ruttle

Story-line via UPtv: After a year of interacting exclusively online, Tenley, an eco-conscious horticulturist, finally works up the courage to meet her online crush, Jared. When Jared doesn’t show because of a bike accident, Tenley gets mistaken for his wife at the hospital. Soon, she’s forced to keep the lie up with Jared’s entire family and his annoyingly charming best friend, Everett in order to save Jared’s company.

Reviews:

🌞"A Love to Remember – This movie was, just as I anticipated, a similar take on the 90’s movie “While You Were Sleeping.” It is family friendly and fun, yet it’s a bit offbeat and eccentric. Most likely there will be some people who love it and others who don’t like it at all. I think I fell somewhere in the middle on this one. There’s some green eco talk and a quick mention of not liking plastic bottles and straws. (It’s not too over the top – I mean, who doesn’t hate trash and want a cleaner earth, right? I personally still like using plastic straws and water bottles, on occasion – I just don’t know why people can’t be responsible and dispose of these things properly.) Anyway, back to the movie… the lead girl, Tenley, is quite likeable and quirky; when she gets herself into some trouble, you can’t help but cheer her on to succeed. The one caution is – there is lying by omission; Tenley pretends to be married to one man, Jared, although she is falling for another, Everett. Throughout the movie she struggles nearly every scene with this lie, but keeps it up mainly to protect others and put their needs before her own. I loved Tenley’s joyful enthusiasm and happy dance; I hope you’ll enjoy this movie, too!" ~Net

🌞"A Love to Remember. Ugh, Net mentioned some people would just not like this movie and I'm definitely in that camp. I couldn't take this one and deleted about halfway through. I like some quirky movies but just didn't find this one to be fun or enchanting... more annoying and completely unbelievable. And I'm sick of holier-than-thou Hollywood preaching the "green" stuff ad nauseam." ~~Jane

Starting Up Love

Original Air Date: April 18, 2021

Starring: Anna Hutchison and Rocky Myers

Story-line via UPtv: When workaholic Jillian gets a note that her long-lost, wealthy uncle has passed away, she finds he’s left her his beautiful mountainside cabin – and a family she never knew existed! Jillian’s plan is to sell it as soon as possible and move on, but when she meets handsome caretaker Liam, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse. Sparks fly as they work together to transform the cabin into a holiday resort. When business doesn’t go as planned and she almost loses her newfound family, Jillian needs to make a decision. Will she give up everything for the love she never saw coming?

Review:

🌞 "Starting Up Love. Bit strange this - normally the main requisite for me is that their must be good chemistry between the leads and I don't think it was strong here, while not lacking. I'd never heard of either before but while I really liked the male lead I didn't think Anna Hutchinson was correctly cast although I did begin to warm more to her towards the end. I thought Charlene Tilton was good as the aunt much better than in her recent Lifetime Christmas movie and the rest of the secondary cast put in pretty decent performances as well. The scenery was excellent and the plot was actually interesting. Probably this film was made on a low budget and I suspect if Hallmark had made it many of the rough edges would have been smoothed. THE KISS at the end was rather anaemic - more like brother and sister if anything. Oddly though I'd have to say I quite it enjoyed it overall - I'd certainly like to see Ricky Myers in another role. No problems regarding it being family friendly." ~Anonymous

Designed With Love

Original Air Date: April 25, 2021

Starring: Kelly Van Der Burg and Benjamin Sutherland

Story-line via UPtv: Clothes designer Skye goes mobile with a “fashion truck” – but she can’t drive the truck and run the business alone. Help comes in the unlikely form of handsome entrepreneur Jason. As they work together, Skye and Jason find they have more in common than they thought… could it be love?

Review:

🌞 "Designed with Love - is cute and family friendly. As a lover of fashion, I enjoyed seeing Skye's love of design and ability to make people feel good about themselves and more confident. Skye's mobile fashion truck is a clever idea, and it's fun to see a spark developing between her and Jason, the guy who builds companies, sells them, and moves on to the next project. According to Jason's sister, Mo, he's not the kind of guy to ever settle on one business or one girl. Skye, in the meantime, is a magnet for guy's who won't commit, since her current boyfriend, Patrick, of 5 years, still hasn't proposed marriage, even though she's hinted. Patrick does, however, get Skye a job designing a dress for Mary B., a well known celebrity influencer, which will benefit his and Skye's career. Mary B's assistant is quite annoying and persistant in taking over Skye's fashion design, but he's not in the movie very long. Thankfully. Overall, I liked the leads, Skye and Jason; it was a sweet movie to put a smile on your face at the end of the day." ~Net

Another weekend is here, my friends. At a time like this, with all of the sadness going in the world, it's nice to see how UPtv is honoring the Easter holiday with Biblical and inspirational programming. We definitely need more stories that share peace, hope and God's amazing love.

On Saturday, we can see many familiar faces in the UPtv movies- including Trevor Donovan in
Love Finds You in Charm, Sarah Lancaster in Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Lindsay Wagner in Love Finds You in Valentine, and Candace Cameron Bure in Finding Normal!

Also, I'm sure all devoted fans of When Calls the Heart will be glued to their TV's again this weekend to watch the marathon on Sunday and see what happens next in the all new episode. My heart is totally invested in this season and each character. It's wonderful how the writers have more fully explored the various roles each person plays within the community of Hope Valley. I've always been most intrigued by Rosemary and Lee; I'm quite curious to see what the selling of Dottie's dress shop will mean for Rosemary's future. What direction will she take now with her life? This season, I love the addition of the Canfield family; I keep hoping Joseph will eventually become their new minister. Hope Valley has gone way too long without a spiritual leader. Two new favorites for me to watch this season are Florence and Ned. What a sweet little development to watch these two work so closely together and see how much they care for one another. Also, when is Fiona returning to Hope Valley? I miss that fun, sweet girl! And, yes... I'm still personally rooting for Mountie Nathan Grant to win Elizabeth's heart in the end. I truly feel he already has; Elizabeth simply hasn't accepted the risk of letting her heart go. That's just my thoughts... please share yours in comments below!

Hope you enjoy the new premieres this weekend!

Blessings to you all!

Happy Palm Sunday! Net

Which CHRISTMAS MOVIE did I choose to Mark the 25th of March? 🌟 SEE and SHARE Your Pick HERE:

 πŸŽ„ Merry *Mark the 25th*! πŸŽ„

On each 25th day of the month we highlight the day here at *It's a Wonderful Movie* as we Countdown to Christmas! March 25th marks 9 months until December 25th, Christmas day!

If you'd like to join along to celebrate the day - all you have to do is choose something Christmassy to watch TODAY! It can be a Christmas movie, cartoon, family sitcom or anything you like. (There's only one stipulation - it must be family friendly.) Then, please share in comments below your Christmas choice for the day!

Last month, you may recall, the 25th also landed on a Thursday, which is one of the days Hallmark plays their weekly Christmas movies.

Since I happen to love the Christmas movie airing today (Thursday, March 25th) on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, I am choosing my pick to *Mark the 25th"...

Starring: Jesse Metcalfe and Autumn Reeser

Storyline via Hallmark: When Nick, a career-focused investment banker, is fired from his high-powered firm at Christmastime, he takes a job at a Christmas tree lot owned by a warmhearted, elderly man. There, he meets Julie, an astronomy teacher who’s always looked to the stars for hope. As the Christmas spirit washes over him — and he begins falling for Julie — the once self-centered Nick discovers the joy of helping others. When he learns that Julie and the tree lot owner are facing hard times, Nick strives to end their troubles in time for them all to share a Christmas under the stars.

If you can't catch Christmas Thursday night, then perhaps you can tune in for the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movie- Friday night...

Starring: Elizabeth Henstridge, Ryan Paevey, Bruce Davison and Julia Duffy

Storyline via Hallmark: With Christmas approaching in New York City, Jessica, an archival historian enmeshed in a declining romantic relationship, is hired to create an exhibition honoring the history of Christmas at The Plaza Hotel. There, she meets Nick, a handsome decorator who’s been commissioned to deck out the iconic landmark. When they’re paired together to prepare the exhibition, they wind up enjoying a host of holiday traditions together and find themselves falling for each other. Tensions soon rise as Jessica must figure out her romantic priorities and decide with whom she’ll ultimately spend Christmas at The Plaza.

I wholehearted recommend both of these Christmas movies that premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2019! There's a deeper, richer story within both of these films; in "Christmas Under the Stars" it's interesting to see when Nick (Jesse Metcalfe) finds a fresh perspective after he losses his white collar corporate job and finds himself at a low point working for Clem, at a local tree lot. Gradually Nick finds a renewed sense of purpose there, along with new friends, including Clem, Julie (Autumn Reeser) and her son, Matt (Anthony Bolognese). I enjoyed the star theme thoughout the movie and watching Nick capture a new view on life and Christmas.

"Christmas at the Plaza" is a movie filled with history and romance. Ryan Paevey's character, Nick (yes, another Nick, a common character name used at Christmas!), is the Christmas decorator at the Plaza Hotel and Jessica (Elizabeth Henstridge) is there to create a special exhibition for Christmas! First, she has to come up with a great theme for this grand event. Along the way, Nick inspires Jessica and shows her a joyful side of the Christmas Season she had been missing. Nick shares with Jessica the history of his grandparents dancing at the Plaza and another past romance may be reunited there!

You can check out more Christmas movies airing in April - here! By the way, one movie on the schedule has been changed. "Deliver by Christmas" will now only have one air date in April - April 29th on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. It has been removed on April 9th and replaced with "The Sweetest Christmas."

If you'd like to join in our Countdown to Christmas event, please share your *Mark the 25th* Christmas pick in comments below!

-------------------------

My quick thoughts...

What an interesting grouping of movies we have coming up for May and Summer! Plus, we will have two repeat pairings - with Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith in "You Had Me at Aloha" and Lacey Chabert and Tyler Hynes in an untitled project for May.

Another interesting development... With Summer Nights beginning in June - it appears the June Wedding theme is now gone. Hmmm??? Will Christmas in July return in July? Wonder what they plan to do in August? I suppose time will tell.

All the mystery movies look intriguing, and I'm looking forward to the encore pairings I mentioned above, plus Chad Michael Murray and Aly Michalka, and Cindy Busby and Tim Ross!

Top it all off with the unexpected appearance of Walt’s ailing mother—eccentric, Emily Dickinson-quoting Itasca (Cloris Leachman), and laughter and tears abound. Richly packed with plenty of quirky characters and hilarious escapades, When We Last Spoke is a timeless movie for all ages that digs in deep to things that matter most—family, friends, love, and forgiveness.

Review:

"When We Last Spoke – Oh my goodness… this movie was definitely unique; it made me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes. I would say it is family friendly for ages 12 and up. This movie first takes place as two little girls, Juliet and Evangeline, are growing up in the 1960’s. It covers a lifetime of love and happiness, as well as loss and sorrow. When their mother can’t take care of them anymore, she leaves the girls with their grandparents, Walt and Ruby Cranbourne, played fantastically by well-known actors, Corbin Bernsen (“Psych”) and Melissa Gilbert (“Little House on the Prairie”). What love these two gave these two abandoned little girls, Juliet and Evangeline, along with a home-life and stability. Their father, in the meantime, is overseas fighting in the Vietnam War. Just when things were getting somewhat settled for the girls, their great-grandmother, Itasca Cranbourne, played by the late, great Cloris Leachman, comes to live with them and brings her own eccentric set ways. She’s a bit mixed up of where she is, at times, and misses her late husband George constantly. Mother Cranbourne is a hand full, along with the girls, but somehow Ruby and Walt manage. I personally enjoyed some parts of the story, while some sad scenes I did not. One person is thought to be having an affair, which isn’t true, and the ending wasn’t quite as satisfying as I had hoped it would be. The match of the actresses who portrayed the girls younger and older was phenomenal. In fact, I learned after watching it, that it was a real-life mother and daughter who played the younger and older version of Juliet. No wonder they looked so much alike! Overall, this movie was definitely interesting; it’s a coming of age story as Juliet and Evangeline grow from childhood to adulthood and grapple with the emotional issues of their youth." ~ Net
