Summer Weekend!
...another great "Hallmark" weekend!! Happy viewing everyone!!
ReplyDeleteYes! It's a wonderful, busy schedule! Plus, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has Aurora and Murder She Baked movies all day on Saturday and Love Comes Softly Marathon on Sunday! Then, of course, the new premieres on the Hallmark Channel!!!
DeleteHappy viewing to you, too, Linda!!! :)
I am cautiously optimistic about Chesapeake Shores. I will definitely watch and am looking forward to it. I'm glad that Hallmark is producing new original programming to add to their schedule but I hope they learned a lesson from the Cedar Cove debacle. The first season of that show was really good - warm, funny, sweet - everything we've come to expect from a Hallmark production. But subsequent seasons were a completely different tone. The show quickly turned into a soap opera and the subject matter made the characters unrecognizable from the wonderful first season. Fingers crossed for Chesapeake Shores!
ReplyDeleteI understand completely Michelle! We have come to expect a different level of programming from Hallmark and I, too, hope we can continue to have that family friendly unique entertainment from them - in their series and movies.
DeleteHowever, from watching the premiere, I do feel Chesapeake Shores borders on being a more adult type drama.
I don't mind the programs that are intended for adults. There are plenty of options on Hallmark for the entire family to enjoy and I think it makes sense to also have options for "parents-only" evenings in front of the TV after the kids are put to bed. But I think that can be down without going down certain paths in terms of storytelling.
DeleteOutside of Chrismas season most of their rom coms are more adult skewing anyway. I know they boast about being a family channel but most of their movies and shows don't appeal to the younger set.
DeleteThey should've done a gymnastics theme movie to tie in with the Olympics. Like how UP did soccer theme movies to tie in with the World Cup.
