Happy first weekend of October, everyone!ππ
Fall truly feels like it's on the way now... and we are just one week away from NEW Christmas movies! Yay! I'm holding on tight to this extra special feeling of anticipation!
But before we get ahead of ourselves, there is plenty to enjoy this weekend! We are nearly midway through Season 2 of Crossroad Springs, and this weekend marks the final episode airing on Great American Family this year; however, if you don't want to wait for the rest of Season 2, you can keep watching episodes weekly via streaming on Great American PureFlix. (UPDATE: Season 2 will continue Jamuary 9, 2027 on Great American Family.)
And over on the Hallmark Channel, Fall into Love continues with a romantic fantasy that will whisk us back in time. The movie stars Julie Gonzalo and James Trevena, with a special appearance from Chris McNally - Julie’s real-life husband! That should be fun to see what role he plays.

I hope you all have a fabulous Fall weekend - whether you're enjoying Friday night football, watching a new movie, or just hanging out with family or friends!
Our weather has finally turned a little chillier, so I'm going to be enjoying a bonfire this weekend. With that crisp feeling in the air, October is the perfect time for this!
If you're planning to watch the new movie or Crossroad Springs, please feel free to share a review with us!

Net, ah yes...nothing like sitting around a bonfire at night in October with a blanket around you, maybe while toasting some marshmallows to go in the hot chocolate you're drinking. Okay, now I'm envious...
ReplyDeleteOh yesssss... we've been pulling out ALL of the blankets!!! It's like 70 something during the day, but oh my does it drop at night to the 40s. Brrrrrrr!!! 'Tis the season!!! :)
DeleteThose treats sound yummy, but instead of hot chocolate, I prefer warm apple with a cinnamon stick!!!
Excited for this new fall movie this weekend- we have soccer games for both kids but I’ll be recording! And wow I am so jealous of your bonfire weather Net, we have another heat wave here in CA and it will be 100 & 101 this weekend π₯΅ so crazy since it’s October. I am imagining myself strolling down a sidewalk sprinkled with crunchy orange leaves and a cozy sweater π§‘
ReplyDelete~Paula
Paula, Wow, you all just can't get a break from this heat. A friend of mine from California shared with me yesterday that she had a heat advisory. That is crazy in October.
DeleteWe are starting to see the leaves turning orange - some trees faster than others, of course. And yes... I'm pulling out sweaters, cardigans, and sweatshirts! I do love the cozy feel of this time of year!
Have lots of fun at your soccer games!!! :)
"I'm holding on tight to this extra special feeling of anticipation!"...Amen Sister!
ReplyDeleteJim, Awww... you & me both!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!! :)
DeleteUPDATE: Crossroad Springs season 2, episode 5 airs tonight (Saturday) on Great American Family. After this, GAF is taking a break from the series to air Christmas movies, and (here's the update!) episode 6 will be back next year - on Saturday, January 9th, 2027!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you can't wait to see the rest of the series, your other option is a paid subscription to Pure Flix. All episodes will be available there. Episodes 6-10 will come out weekly.
One of the easiest ways to get Pure Flix, is through an add-on channel with Amazon Prime - *click here for details*
By the way, all of the Great American Family Christmas movies will also be available on Pure Flix throughout the holiday season!
I’m so glad we have Pure Flix to see the rest. We have it added on to our Amazon account too.
Delete( oh good. The thought of dodging spoilers for the rest of the year did NOT sound good!).
ReplyDeleteNext week is gonna be sooooo busy for me with CBS premieres and a NYCC panel next weekend I'll be looking for info about!! :)) -Maria
Maria, Enjoy all of your new mysteries/dramas this week!!! :)
DeleteGrr, I didn't realize that this is the last "Crossroad Springs" till January! I love it and "Blue Skies." Here is a tip that I don't know if you have already mentioned: We have enjoyed the 6 part series "The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls." It is on Amazon Prime and it's really fun. Bear is also a believer! Several cast members from "The Chosen" go on adventures with him. Amy in CA
ReplyDeleteAmy, thank you so much for sharing this program - I'm going to look into seeing it!
DeleteSo glad you've also been enjoying both Crossroad Springs and Blue Skies. It's so nice to see more and more programming geared towards family viewing!!!
I am glad I have PureFlix on my Prime video account! This last episode was really good! Looking forward to the next one.
ReplyDeleteMisty
Misty, I'm so glad I have PF, too... to finish the season and see what happens next!! That Jackson sure is stirring up trouble. I'm hoping Daniel ends up saving the day.
DeleteA Knight to Remember is a wonderful movie! (and Chris McNally has a cameo!). -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Thank you for sharing! I'm sure it was fun to see Chris!
DeleteI enjoyed this whimsical funny movie too and with a fall theme in the background
DeleteJulie’s movie looks interesting to me, but I hope it doesn’t have a mystical feel to it. I didn’t care for the direction Hallmark went in Chris and Aimee’s film with all the manifesting.
ReplyDeleteAbigail, same for me! See Christie's comment below...
DeleteIt’s been a busy weekend so I haven’t watched A Knight to Remember yet but a friend of mine said she watched last night and she said they talk about astrology. I thought some of you would want to know that. Christie
ReplyDeleteChristie, thank you so much for sharing this information with us.
DeleteThanks Christy!
DeleteIs anyone else struggling with these commercials on Great American Family channel on cable? I had it playing today in the living room as I was doing laundry and the kids were playing in the living room and they keep showing the same commercial- it’s all these rapid images, one after another. It shows the clown from IT, the skeleton from the Crypt keeper show I remember my grandpa watching when I was little, shows the Exorcism girl, shows Chucky with his face all cut up π I was in another room putting clothes away and our 2 little ones were screaming for me “change the channel!” Our 5 year old was screaming crying, I thought they had accidentally changed the channel to a movie channel like FX or HBO but no when I checked it was on GAF. I know they can’t control the commercials/ads that are shown but man those commercials are going to traumatize my poor babies, they are triggering for me to see! Just a warning for anyone with little ones who like to watch Christmas movies that are playing right now- be careful of commercials. I don’t think we will have our tv on much this month unless it’s a movie on Disney Plus or something. I know they show ads too but we don’t see as many….
ReplyDelete~Paula
oh Paula--I am so sorry for your sweet kids! Praying now for the Lord to erase those images from their minds. I hadn't noticed them but I always fast fwd through commercials, That really sounds like the enemy though to attach through GAF. I'm praying for you too now. My kids are adults and I remember trying so hard to shield them when they were little, I can only imagine how much harder it is these days. I shield myself as much as I can because I don't like anything so impure in my head either!
DeleteWow Paula that is terrible, I don’t like adverts for horror movies or with horror film and tv characters and I’m an adult, especially when it’s in the evening or night. I can imagine it being really scary for the young ones.
DeletePaula, Oh no.... So sorry your children saw those scary commercials. I saw a few yesterday, too. I wasn't watching GAF at the time, but I thought, oh dear, here we go with the creepy Halloween commercials. It's no fun at all to see those evil ads this time of year. I always quickly turn the channel too!!!
DeleteThank you all for your kind words!
DeleteI know I can’t shield my babies from everything but the world is such a crazy place now a days, it’s like they try to shove stuff in our faces, especially the images because they know those are hard to forget….. it’s crazy how things that are from decades ago can still be so scary, like that clown from IT creeps me out and I don’t even have a clown phobia like some people do π³
~Paula
Paula...I have always said that horror movie ads should be banned from TV commercials. Some of that garbage comes on so fast that you don't even have a chance to change channel. I'm an older adult and they still freak me out. I'm a sensitive soul though lol. Seriously though, they do freak me out. I know they aren't real, but it still FREAKS me out. That stuff hangs in my head for quite some time. Feel so bad that the kids have to see that garbage. Even though I love that Christmas movies start in October, I hate having to deal with all the horror movies that they push everywhere.
DeleteWow! It is Halloween season, but that seems too adult to be on GAF. Sorry your little ones went through that, poor babies! I’ll be praying for them for the Lord to replace those images with something sweet, but you’ve raised them well since their first thought was to let you know.
DeleteKeep your mind on what is good and lovely. I tell that verse to myself so often.
Totally echo what Abigail said. Also, is there anyone here who is active on social media or has a connection to GAF and could ask them why they allow such vividly disturbing images to play on a channel they want us to all watch because it’s “family friendly”? The pharmaceutical ads are bad enough, but this horror stuff is definitely not family friendly and may cause valuable viewers to tune out. They want us to watch their channel that includes all the Bible verses and lovely wholesome sentiments, but then they allow ad revenue from such trash?!? Where do they draw the line? Is such trash really necessary for them to stay in business? ~~Jane
DeleteHi Jane, so I tried to do a general Google search asking if anyone had seen any commercials of this nature on GAF channel and I found some Facebook posts where people discussed really graphic Halloween commercials and some pro abortion commercials. A lot of people in the comments said that they reached out to GAF and that they said they unfortunately do not have any control over the ads/commercials that run, that it’s the cable service. It’s just such a gamble of what will pop up on any channel anymore…. I agree with you, the pharmaceutical ones are on all the time, and I know these issues will need to be discussed at some point with our children because our mental health is so important, but I’m not ready to discuss “bipolar depression” for example because those ads run 24/7, our children are both still so young. This summer our daughter really got into animals as she had a big project in the 2nd grade and so I recorded some episodes on National Geographic and they kept showing the same commercials for Viagra! I was like what in the world π³ many times they just show rapid images or vague talking and your trying to figure out what the commercial is even about…we cant watch anything now a days….
Delete~Paula
Oh Paula, I got chills when you mentioned clowns!!! Those are the worst! When I was a kid, probably around 9 years, my family went to a cornmaze. We did not know it was a haunted themed one. There was a scary clown with a weapon that was following us and every time my brother and I tried telling our parents, he would hide in the stalks. I can’t stand clowns now!! Ehh!!π
DeleteGrrr!! Paula, it's so frustrating and annoying! I feel like raising children nowadays has become so much harder. Just watching college football with the kids has become problematic because of the trashy ads!! For movies, I guess maybe the only way around it is to pay the huge amount of money to have separate subscriptions to things like GAF PureFlix and UP Faith&Family (where, I'm assuming, they don't have ads??). But that kind of money quickly adds up and is difficult for most young families to afford.
DeleteAnd, Abigail, YIKES, the clowns!! That's just TOO creepy!!!
~~Jane
Paula & Jane....
DeleteYeah, you're right, Jane... there are no ads with PureFlix or UP Faith & Family, which makes it really nice to watch without the awful ads you all mentioned. But like you said, all of these apps get really pricey after awhile. (We actually dropped UP recently because of that.)
Paula... if you're wanting to watch live TV without the commercials, GFAM+ is probably the better option. Last I saw, it was $3 something a month for the first year, but you'd have to check current pricing here: https://app.gfamplus.com/ (I'm not affiliate or anything, just wanted to share in case this was a better option for you.)
I was just looking through Instagram this morning, and I read a post from a mother whose young sons (both a little under 10 years old) were watching sports and a certain popular (scandalous) ad came on with an actress. (You all probably know the one I mean) Well, the boys immediately knew it was wrong and looked away, but they were both confused and in tears over it - feeling shame for being a little curious. It really is sad that we cannot watch TV anymore, even something we think should be safe for our family viewing time. My heart breaks for those boys and the effect these commercials have on all of the people who see them. It makes me think of Sunday school and the song we used to sing: "Be careful little eyes what you see..."
When it comes to new movies, I typically just record everything and fast-forward through the commercials, but that's impossible to do if the family is watching a live sports event. I guess we have to be ready at all times with the remote just to change the channel or turn it off.
Purity in this day and age is near impossible unless you lock yourself in a closet and don't leave ever. I feel so bad for the young ins having to grow up in this environment.
DeleteThere’s new promo trailer of Fall into Love: All Season Long while I’m watching WCTH: Season 7
ReplyDeleteEverly’s has been missing in her life. She’s a bridal designer who strongly dislikes Halloween after a past public heartbreak at a local fire-station bash.
I saw The Spirit of Halloween
