5 years ago this month, I first heard of this network through, if you can believe it, a pro gay Hallmark user on Tumblr! It's hilarious 'fear' of the network pushing traditional values made me curious about it, and luckily my cable provider carries it!
ReplyDeleteStarted off with the very first Christmas Preview Show when it rebranded, and I've been a loyal fan since! :)
Getting to see this incredible network grow each year has been a huge blessing, and I look forward to seeing these last 5 years honored in a big way. (even though it looks like it will once again be without 1 actress that I want to see in 1 of these movies). -Maria
Maria, I love your sweet joy for Great American Family! I'm so glad you eventually found us here at It's a Wonderful Movie. Your such a valued part of this IAWM family!
DeleteYou are so right... each year at GAF continues to be a blessing and more and more we need their uplifting films.
Looking forward to watching the new movies with you & everyone throughout Christmastime.
I found this site a few months later through 1 of your posts on Twitter in the Hallmark tag, been happily posting here since! :)) -Maria
DeleteSorry, it was 4 years ago! -Maria
ReplyDeleteI was just looking over the promo again and noticing the names
ReplyDeleteKatie Leclerc and Ryan Carnes listed together, so that makes me think GAF has obtained the movie, 'A Cherry Pie Christmas,' which looks like a very sweet movie!
Here's the storyline: A pastry chef returns to Door County, WI for the holidays, and must choose between her dream job and the legacy of her family's cherry orchard business - with a little help from her high school sweetheart, and a lost cherry pie recipe.
yes they acquired it & spelled Ryan Carnes name wrong in the promo.
DeleteYippee!!! This news just made my day! Let’s go! Christie
ReplyDeleteWell, I obviously wrote the comment above early in the day yesterday before I heard about the shooting of Charlie Kirk. I went from a Christmas high to a deep low.
DeleteMy heart aches for Charlie, his family, and friends. ππ»
I hope we get the next movie in the Destined for Christmas series. We need to see them get married. Or just more of their lives. They have to do it soon as the little girl is probably growing up. I know it is the real life daughter of Casey Elliot. I have been waiting so long for this movie.
ReplyDeleteSabrina
There will not be a Destined 3 this year. Shae is in a movie with Christopher Russell & currently on a cruise in Alaska. Casey has been performing with Gentri. Unless GAF acquires his movie, Christmas Roses, there won't be one with him this year. And yep, they jumped the gun & announced last year that there would be a Dest. 3 this year & I guess they're hoping people forget they said that.
DeleteSabrina, I'm still hoping we'll get that 3rd Destined movie one day, too. It is such a sweet series. There's just something about the two families that seems so real. Hopefully, if they eventually do a third film, all of the original cast will be able to return.
Deleteso exciting!
ReplyDeletedstoutholcomb, Thank you for sharing the joy!
DeleteCongrats to GAF your viewers have been through the journey and look forward to more great movies with positive content. Love Trevor’s high tops!
ReplyDelete-Gabe’s Mom
P.S. To all the Itsawonderfulmovie sleuths- did you notice some of the missing names in the press release? Hope we see some movies from all our GAF fan favorites.
Gabe's Mom, Yes, it has been quite the journey. The main picture above is from the Great American Family Christmas Festival last Christmas.
DeleteYeah, I'm also noticing some missing actors this year. I do know Laura Osnes has stated she does not have a new Christmas movie this year, which is unfortunate.
There still could be some surprises when the whole slate is revealed, but we'll have to wait and see.
I hope GAFAM pick up Christmas movies
ReplyDeleteJonathan Stoddard’s Christmas movies
A Country Music Christmas (2024)
Saving Christmas Ranch (2025)
A Christmas Mixer (2025)
A Royal Christmas Tail

Delete"A Country Music Christmas" premiered on UPtv last year, so you'll want to look for it there again this year.
It looks like "A Cherry Pie Christmas" will air this Christmas season on GAF. Stay tuned for the official announcement from GAF.
And I love the title "Sleigh Bells & Sugarplums," but that was actually the original title for Jesse Hutch & Jill Wagner's movie, "Christmas Under the Northern Lights."
Hope we'll see these other movies on GAF or elsewhere.
Thanks for that Under the Northern Lights was an original title for Sleigh Bells & Sugarplums - I notice IMDb has Sleigh Bells & Sugarplums
DeletePray for Charlie Kirk. I just found out he was shot in Utah. I think in his neck. My heart goes out to his family. He’s such a nice man.
ReplyDeleteResponse to this comment below...
DeleteSo, as of yet, no movies have been made for Jill, Jesse, Danica, Trevor, etc. The clips were of movies from previous years. Trevor posted on X that he may be about to make one, so I'd guess for GAF, but none of the others have. No Destined 3, Daniel Lissing, Rhiannon Fish, & Jen Lilley are in Hallmark movies this Christmas...not sure about a few others.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Trevor will be filming his new Christmas movie for GAF soon. It hasn't been revealed who his co-star is, so it could be Jill or Danica or someone else. Hopefully, we'll learn more soon.
DeleteI think Trevor’s leading lady is Danica for Christmas movie on GAFAM
DeleteExpect for Merritt Peterson!: Christmas movie on GAFAM
If only Cameron Mathison could have been the one wearing the Santa costume. ;)
ReplyDeleteOn a different note though…. I posted earlier for prayer for Charlie Kirk. He was shot today in an event in Utah. President Trump just confirmed that he is now passed. Please continue to pray for his family. He was the loving father of two young children. Pray for our country too and our freedom to be able to use our freedom of speech safely. My heart is aching thinking of his family’s loss.
Abigail, Bless you for posting about Charlie Kirk. We watch his show all the time on Real America's Voice, and as soon as I learned of the shooting this afternoon, I went into prayer and kept close to the news on TV.
DeleteI was sobbing when I heard he has passed. It just feels so close to home, a personal attack on conservative beliefs.
My heart breaks with you for his family- his wife Erica and young children. So senseless. I so agree with you... we must pray for our country, for religious freedom, civility in our society, and freedom of speech.
Praying with you. Hugs to all whose hearts are hurting over this news.ππ
I wish we were all together tonight. I have shivers.. You said it well Net. This does feel really close to home. I am so heartbroken for his family.
DeleteI am thankful for his faithfulness and skill in taking the gospel to so many college campuses.
Praying for his wife and kids.
May the Lord give Erica much peace and comfort in this terrible time and use Charlie’s death for the advancement of the gospel!
I'm just really tired of all the violence. 1st that innocent refugee going home from the pizza parlor to now this. This cannot be okay, no matter one's political views! -Maria
DeleteAbigail, I feel the same. Thank you for sharing, it brings me comfort knowing you feel that way, too.
DeleteI was truly honored when Charlie Kirk followed my It’s a Wonderful Movie account on X (Twitter). It means so much to know he was aware of us here.
I pray his incredible legacy will live on.
I am heartbroken and still reeling from Charlie's assassination. I am praying for his family and for our country. I was touched by the prayer and scripture that GAF posted for our nation.
DeleteA Cherry Pie Christmas
ReplyDeleteA Cherry Pie Christmas" is an upcoming holiday movie about a Chicago pastry chef who returns to her family's orchard in Door County, Wisconsin, for the holidays & finds herself choosing between her career & saving the struggling orchard, all with the help of a local high school sweetheart. The film was shot in Door County & has a premise similar to a Hallmark holiday movie, featuring familiar landmarks and a local cherry pie contest. The trailer was released in late July/early August 2025, but a specific release date & network have not yet been announced, though it is expected to air during the 2025 holiday season
"Bringing the joy, warmth, and wonder of the season"...That statement gives me the jingle tingles for sure. So glad that they are starting early again this year. They did the same thing last year. They teased it would start a weekend later but then changed to an earlier date which I love! October 11th last year. One day earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteJingle Tingles and Funeral Bells all ringing at the same time. What a crazy and strange life we have to endure. Everything comes at us at once. The good, the bad, and the ugly. How DO we survive it all? Thankfully we have God to lean on, or it would not be possible. Horrible tragedy yesterday for Charlie Kirk and his family and all those that loved him and his beliefs.
DeleteHi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to hop on here and say I am joining you ladies (Net, Abigail & Maria) in prayer for Charlie Kirk and his family. I am just at a loss for words….i am still processing the school shooting in Minnesota from last week. I heard it on KLove after I dropped my daughter off to school and I wanted to drive back and pick her up, such a scary time to be raising children. I do not watch the news as it just gets so fear driven at times and nothing good is every reported but my husband actually called and told me about it and we prayed for Charlie and then found out about an hour later that it was announced that he passed. Sometimes God does not answer prayers the way we want him to, and that is really hard to accept, especially I’m sure for his family and those who loved and knew him, and especially those who are believers of Christ. But God is still good and I pray that his wife and family hold on to God in this time. Praying for the family of the shooter as well as they will be mourning a family member as well, as they will be held accountable for this terrible action.
Have a blessed night everyone.
~Paula
As I sit down at my laptop, to share my comments on 9/11 and the passing of Charlie Kirk, my thoughts go immediately to Jesus. I can't help it. Our savior is heartbroken as we all are. I don't have the words to truly convey what I am feeling currently. Charlie's death was so senseless. And the deaths of all of the innocent souls who were lost on 9/11 were also senseless. I don't understand why either one of these tragic events had to occur. Why do certain humans feel they have the right to take matters into their own hands with what they feel is justice? Jesus and God do NOT condone violence or murder which is what both acts were. I agree with Abigail. I wish we could all be together to comfort each other as we remember Charlie and his family and friends who are hurting so deeply right now. And, even strangers who did not know Charlie, on both sides of the political spectrum, are being outspoken about his assignation. The outpouring of grief is numbing but understandable. Prayers go up to all who were impacted by Charlie's passing and impacted by 9/11. May we never forget either tragedy and honor everyone who was lost on 9/11 as well as Charlie. We all know he is with Jesus now because he so loved him. My husband said he was both saddened and angered by Charlie's passing. I agree wholeheartedly with this. I will comment on the GAF Christmas news in separate post.
ReplyDeleteJoan, you said this so beautifully! You spoke my heart. When I heard the news yesterday, I started praying for Charlie's family. President Trump sent out a message that Charlie was dead. What a blessing to be able to share on this site!
DeleteIt was so nice to read something positive today! I am looking forward to Christmas on GAF for sure! We all know all of the movies will be inspiring and clean and wholesome! YAY to GAF for continuing to bring us joy and love in this upcoming season. I can't believe the fun starts in less than one month! Where on earth has time gone this year. Thanks Net for everything you do! You always keep us informed on the happenings, both good and bad. You warn us about certain movies we should avoid and you let us know which movies will bring us joy, make us smile and warm our hearts! I am so looking forward to spending the holiday season with you and all of my friends I have made here over the last several years! We all need a place to come to which is a safe one. May God bless you Net and may God bless all of my friends here.
