I just have to quickly say that I adored Mae Whitman as a young girl in the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, A Season for Miracles. In fact, that movie still holds a special place in my heart! It makes me so happy to see Mae working with Hallmark again all these years later. I sure hope this series will be just as delightful as the preview looks!
seems okay. -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Yeah... hopefully! :)
DeleteSeems very left-field and is there a hint of a same sex relationship there?
ReplyDeleteCase of wait and see - Florence
Florence, Yeah, I kinda wondered that, too, but wasn't sure if I was over-thinking it. Are you referring to the women dancing in the period dance scene? Or is there something else?
DeleteI'm hoping this cute and all, but I have a feeling this one might have more adult dialogue/situations.
I feel like I should clarify my response above. Sometimes in Jane Austen and other period films, they will show women dancing together - who are likely sisters or simply good friends. So, when I saw the period scene (shown in the video clip above) that's what I thought of, but who knows what is being implied here.
DeleteHmmm, while I did enjoy her as a child in Hope Floats, I haven’t seen her in anything recently. I did see she came out talking about her sexuality online a few years ago but didn’t know she was still making movies.
ReplyDelete~Paula
Paula, I missed that article/interview. I'll have to see if I can find it. I do know she had a baby boy last year in August with her partner, Carlos.
DeleteBy the way, I remember her being absolutely adorable in 'Hope Floats,' too! They used to play that movie on cable TV a lot, but it's been quite awhile since I've seen it.
Since being a child actor, it looks like, according to her IMDB, that she's done mostly voice-over work for animations.
She had came out saying she was pansexual, which I guess is similar to bisexual. Honestly all the terms can get confusing but that’s what I read online.

Paula, Oh my... I didn't know. I agree, some of these terms are very confusing.
DeleteI recognize the woman in the green gown. She was in a Love Comes Softly movie.
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteUm...I will not be watching this series. I used to really like Mae until 2021 when she shared her new definition of her sexuality, and I stopped following her. It is a shame because she was such a great child actress but then she entered adulthood and some of the things she said really saddened and shocked me. She said she is proud and happy to be part of the bi+ community, and she can openly fall in love with all genders. So, this one is a hard pass for me.
I also wanted to mention, and maybe some of you have seen this in the news, that Former HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are facing criticism over their new reality series, which includes a same-sex couple among its cast.
ReplyDeleteThe show is titled Back to the Frontier and it's a reality-type program that shows modern families as they try to live their lives as if it's the 1880s. There was actually a similar show like this years ago on PBS that I thought was interesting, so when I initially heard about this show I took interest. It's very disappointing that they chose to include this.
I just wanted to let you all know - in case you hadn't heard.
There's an interesting article about it at Charisma News:

Yeah, this was really disappointing to hear. When they did HGTV I remember they were criticized for not having same sex couples and now this on their OWN network. Doesn’t make sense.
Deletesounds wonderful
ReplyDeleteHi Net, I commented yesterday, about my feelings on Mae. But, after seeing your latest posting, I felt compelled to comment again. I can't even begin to convey how disappointed this news is! Why on earth would they feel this is okay? Wow! I am honestly speechless. I will no longer support Chip or Joanna. I have several of their shows, setup as series recordings, but I will be removing those series from my DVR. As a Catholic, I am saddened to know they feel this way. I have been fans of theirs for a long time. :-(
ReplyDeleteJoan, Me, too! I've always been a big fan! My family & I watched many episodes of Fixer Upper over and over again. I just don't understand it.
DeleteAnyway, my sister sent me this open letter she read on-line from Owen Strachan, who is with the Family Research Council. It's the best thing I've read in response to all of this.
