PLOT:

via Hallmark: Andy (Boston) is a passionate and talented artist whose Pasadena family has been building Rose Parade floats for generations. But when her Dad gets sick and can’t lead this year’s efforts as usual, Andy has no choice but to take the helm and supervise the construction and decoration of their client’s float over Christmas with only a few weeks to go. And to make matters worse, she’s saddled with the extra challenge of dealing with Cliff, a demanding businessman whose company commissioned the float. Forced to work together, these two can’t help but clash – she’s a creative type who knows this flower-strewn process inside out, while he’s all business with no time for art. But working side-by-side over Christmas, they each learn the other is not who they seem. And together, with a ragtag team of volunteers, they might just have what it takes to create a magnificent Rose Parade float… IF they can pull it together by New Year’s.

    1. Yes, the first premiere showing of Rachel Boston in "A Rose for Christmas" is January 1st - New Years Day!!! Originally, it wasn't going to have "Christmas" in the title. Initially, it was named after the parade, the Rose Parade. But, it was changed, perhaps due to legalities with naming it after the parade, or maybe they just wanted Christmas in the title - who knows? Whatever the case, as the poster says above, it will first air on January 1st. So far, however, the Hallmark Channel web-site only shows one airing for this movie. That may or may not change, as we get closer to the premiere date.

If this movie ends up having one showing, it won't be alone. The "When Calls the Heart Christmas" movie is also showing only once on Christmas Day, December 25th!

Thank you for commenting, Alicia! :)

Net -- I think the WCTH repeat situation is slightly different because the movie is technically counted as part of the series. Those hours allocated to the movie are included in the number of hours for Season 4. And since Season 4 does not officially begin until February 2017, this Christmas movie is just considered a sneak preview/peek at the season (while being themed to Christmas).

As for "A Rose for Christmas," I had wondered how the repeat situation would be handled, as it is airing at the very end of the Christmas movie season. I think that it is not set to repeat for that exact reason -- it is airing on the last night of the Hallmark holiday season. They could add in an extra showtime somewhere, but I'd be surprised if they did.

After that, they switch to Winterfest movies for 3 Saturdays in a row (the Winterfest promo shows the movie that I told you about quite a while back, on this very site -- "A Winter Prince" is the tentative/working title) and then the Countdown to Valentine's Day should begin on the last Saturday in January.

So there really isn't anywhere for the repeats of Rose for Christmas to fit in, I suppose.

I guess we will see Rose for Christmas again in July.

  10. The movie was a bit too involved for me. but I like Rachel Boson and watch all her movies. She always seems to have a great comraderie with her leading men.

  11. I just saw this movie with my family on New Year’s Day and I honestly thought it could have been better. Here are my three biggest critiques with this movie:

    1. All of my family agreed that there was a lack of a substantial conflict. The only thing that really happened was a group of people coming together to build a parade float (and for half of that project, Rachel Boston’s character spent her valuable time painting).

    2. I personally didn’t like the concept of trying to squeeze two holidays into one movie. The majority of this movie felt like a Christmas movie, with not enough attention focused on New Year’s. “A Rose for Christmas” should have stuck with the New Year’s theme that was originally planned.

    3. Some of the things that happened in this movie seemed a bit hokey. One example is when the team just realized that they needed special effects and music on their float after looking at what their competition had. How does a parade company that’s been in business for more than 10 years not know what’s needed on a float until almost the last minute?

  12. I think the previous poster has made some very valid points.

I also thought combining Christnas and New Year themes didn't quite come off and there definitely needed to be a bit more conflict btween the leads.

I found Marc Bendavid very boyish. He seemed familiar and then I recalled that he had played the part of Susan's father as a young man in Angel Of Christmas but I had forgotten he played the lead role in Summer In The City - probably goes to show how much of an impression that movie made on me!

One big plus was the ending. I really liked the way they took a couple of minute's screen time to round everything offand show exactly how the future panned out.

Overall it was a pleasnt enough movie to watch but didn't make a lasting impression.

  13. Net, do you have any idea where I could find Rachel's Christmas sweater from this movie?

    1. Hello Grace! I do know where you can get Rachel Boston's exact Christmas Sweater pictured above! It's available through Amazon... it's the Women's Holiday Reindeer Pullover Sweater in red by Festified! Definitely too cute to be called an ugly Christmas Sweater!

It also comes in Mens and Youth, if you're interested!

Plus, if you have Prime Shipping with Amazon, you should be able to get one pretty quickly - in time to wear for Christmas! :)

    2. After looking at it even closer, it appears Rachel is actually holding the men's sweater, which is interesting because the reviews on Amazon say the women's sweater runs a little small.
