Happy "Day After" Thanksgiving !!!

Now that it is officially the Christmas Season...
Let's Get Ready to go... "SHOPPING"!!!

I love the line in the song Silver Bells when they say... "As the Shoppers run home with their Treasures!" It's really so true... for whatever big or small gifts we find... we place them in a nice gift box, surround it with pretty Christmas paper, and top it with a shiny bow... for the giver it is a treasure.

As scripture tells us,
"It is more blessed to give than to receive."
- Acts 20:35

Here's some fun things that would make great gifts...
from DVDs to Slippers and More...

My Thoughts on Two Christmas Movies

I have decided to remove two movies from my Christmas TV Schedule due to my personal Christian faith and values. I created this site and schedule to share with families special movies that could bring them together for family movie nights and I want the programming on my schedule to continue to reflect that.

The Two Movies I removed are Holiday in Handcuffs and 12 Men of Christmas.

Why?

Please, Click here to read my Movie Review of Holiday in Handcuffs - that will explain why I removed it from my schedule.

Please, Click here to read a description of 12 Men of Christmas - that will explain why I removed it from my schedule.

I hope many of you will understand why I made this decision.

God's blessings to you all during this Christmas Season!

Happy Thanksgiving - November 26, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Families.

The History of Thanksgiving....

"The Pilgrims set sail for America on September 6, 1620, and for two months braved the harsh elements of a storm-tossed sea. Upon disembarking at Plymouth Rock, they held a prayer service and then hastily began building shelters; however, unprepared for such a harsh New England winter, nearly half of them died before spring. Emerging from that grueling winter, the Pilgrims were surprised when an Indian named Samoset approached them and greeted them in their own language, explaining to them that he had learned English from fishermen and traders. A week later, Samoset returned with a friend named Squanto, who lived with the Pilgrims and accepted their Christian faith. Squanto taught the Pilgrims much about how to live in the New World, and he and Samoset helped forge a long-lasting peace treaty between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians. Pilgrim Governor William Bradford described Squanto as “a special instrument sent of God for [our] good . . . and never left [us] till he died.”

That summer, the Pilgrims, still persevering in prayer and assisted by helpful Indians, reaped a bountiful harvest. As Pilgrim Edward Winslow (later to become the Governor) affirmed, “God be praised, we had a good increase of corn”; “by the goodness of God, we are far from want.” The grateful Pilgrims therefore declared a three-day feast in December 1621 to thank God and to celebrate with their Indian friends – America’s first Thanksgiving Festival. Ninety Wampanoag Indians joined the fifty Pilgrims for three days of feasting (which included shellfish, lobsters, turkey, corn bread, berries, deer, and other foods), of play (the young Pilgrim and Wampanoag men engaged in races, wrestling matches, and athletic events), and of prayer. This celebration and its accompanying activities were the origin of the holiday that Americans now celebrate each November."

(this is an excerpt from the Wallbuilders web-site -
Celebrating Thanksgiving In America by David Barton)

Isn't it wonderful to remember the heritage of our great country and the many sacrifices our heroic ancestors made for their freedom and ours. It is truly a precious time to thank the Lord for all we have been given.

God's Blessings to you all for a truly Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I find it to be so beautiful... to not exclude Santa but to include him and all the Joy he Brings with the birth of Baby Jesus!

A Golden Christmas

Network: ION

CAST:

Andrea Roth ... Jessica
Alley Mills ... Katherine
Jason London ... Mitch
Nicholas Brendon ... Michael
Bruce Davison ... Rod

Chastity Dotson ... Jill
Kali Majors ... Young Jessica Wright

PLOT:

One summer a long time ago, a little girl and a little boy were brought together by a very special dog. They played all summer long, it was puppy love. Then the summer ended and they never saw each other again until…years later when her parents (Davison and Mills) retire and decide to sell their house. Jessica (Roth), recently widowed, decides she needs to start over and moves back home with her son. She hopes to buy the old house as a Christmas surprise, however, her plan goes awry when she discovers that her parents have already sold it. What she does not know is that the house has been sold to the very same person that she spent that magical summer with years ago.

Movie Review:

A Fun Family Movie where the "Prodigal" Daughter finally returns home after many, many years and decides that since her parents are moving to Florida... she wants to buy the Family Home. There is ONE problem, however - It's SOLD!

It's an adventure in itself - to see Jessica try to get her family house back when she learns that the Buyer must, according to the contract, sell his home first.

Andrea Roth, who plays Jessica Wright, is such a joy to watch- she's a great actress... very pretty and witty... aunthentic to her character. She brings a realistic quality to the story. It was such fun to watch as she and Michael (Nicholas Brendon) antagonize one another over who owns the house. There was definite Chemistry between these two... which made it a great Romantic Christmas Comedy!

I also loved the addition of Elisa Donovan (Lifetime's - Eve's Christmas), who played Anna, Jessica's sister. She is such a pretty and great actress, as well. I just love the way she talks and giggles - she always adds such terrific expression to her face and her lines. She's a scene stealer! And, Jason London, (Hallmark Channel's - The Wishing Well) played her husband - how cute is that! Great Casting ION! Plus, the Mom from "The Wonder Years", Alley Mills, played the Mother!

It was such a cute movie... to see Jessica & Michael finally realize that they were the little boy and girl who met nearby there in the woods many years ago as children to play together & pledge that they would be Best Friends Forever - was very sweet!

Yes, Virginia

MOVIE REVIEW

Yes, Virginia

Network: CBS

Original Air Date: December 11, 2009

CAST:

Virginia O'Hanlon ... Beatrice Miller
Charlotte ... Julian Franco
Ollie ... Kieran Patrick Campbell
Santa ... Michael Buscemi
Mr. O'Hanlon, Virginia's quirky scientist father ... Neil Patrick Harris
Mrs. O'Hanlon, Virginia's understanding mother ... Jennifer Love Hewitt
Francis Church ... Alfred Molina

PLOT:

An animated Christmas special based on the 1897 true story of Virginia O'Hanlon of an 8-year-old girl who inspired the most famous newspaper editorial of all time by asking, "Is there a Santa Claus?"

Eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon had always loved Christmas until the playground bully, Charlotte, tells her and the other children that Santa Claus doesn't exist. Not sure what to believe, Virginia and her friend, Ollie, venture into the streets of New York City to uncover the truth. Along the way, they encounter a Scraggly Santa who is trying to raise money for the less fortunate (he admits he's not the real deal, but someone who sort of works for Santa Claus), an over-eager librarian with a shelf full of Christmas books, and interesting advice from Virginia's quirky scientist father.

Unable to find the answer, Virginia decides to write a letter to the New York Sun newspaper knowing that their reputation for reporting the facts is cemented by their motto "If you see it in The Sun, it's so!" Virginia's letter makes its way to the curmudgeonly editor, Francis Church, who feels he has better things to do than respond to a little girl's question. But, with Virginia's determination, and a little help from Scraggly Santa, Mr. Church is persuaded to write the answer that became the most famous newspaper editorial of all time: "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!"

Movie Review:

Precious and Sweet! I loved the story of Virginia and her little friend, who are so trusting in Santa Claus and so giving to a Santa's helper who rings a bell on the sidewalk near their home.

This is a wonderful story.

A Great Christmas Cartoon for the family to watch together!

I believe!

The Christmas Hope

MOVIE REVIEW

The Christmas Hope

Network: Lifetime Movie Network

Premiere Date: December 13, 2009

CAST:

Ian Ziering ... Nathan Andrews
Madeleine Stowe ... Patricia Addison
James Remar ... Mark Addison
Tori Barban ... Emily Adams
Jayne Eastwood ... Charlotte
Devon Weigel ... Traci Adams
Aaron Hughes ... Larry Adams
Alicia Johnston ... Mona
Omar Khan ... Cop
Rebecca Gibson ... Megan Andrews
Phillip Jarrett ... Roy
Daniel Boiteau ... Justin
Sean O'Brian ... Joe
Garth Merkeley ... Sean Addison

PLOT:

Based on the third book in the best-selling Christmas trilogy by Donna VanLiere, The Christmas Hope follows Patti and Mark Addison, a couple in a troubled marriage. When Patti, a social worker, brings home a foster child who has no place to go on Christmas, she and Mark set aside their differences to give the young girl a special holiday.

The first two movies adapted from the trilogy - Christmas Shoes and Christmas Blessing, were acquired by Lifetime Movie Network and have quickly become holiday favorites.

Movie Review:

First of all, I was so glad that the Executive Producer of The Christmas Hope, e-mailed to inform me that Lifetime Movie Network has changed their Schedule and moved the Premiere of The Christmas Hope. I was glad to update the Christmas Schedule with the correct premiere time.

Now, for my thoughts on this movie. The Christmas Hope is a the third movie in the trilogy- following Christmas Shoes and Christmas Blessing. These movies all have such intense moments and touching scenes of sadness, loss, and redemption. It was so sad to see such tragedy in the life of this little girl. Christmas is an emotional time of year and it's easy sometimes to forget it's not all Jingle Bells for alot of people. For those who have lost someone or know someone with an illness, it can be a very difficult season.

Watching the characters in this movie cope with their loss and grief, perhaps may bring some Christmas Hope to others, as well... who are dealing with the same situation.

For some, this movie might be too sad. It doesn't depict a happy fantasy world - just the plain honest reality of life and death. The little girl's mother dies tragically when she is hit by a car... and due to it being Christmas, the social worker, Patti, (Madeline Stowe) ends up taking her home. She and her husband, Mark, had lost a child many years ago. Because of that, they have become distant, but somehow having this child with them now - makes them realize and overcome some of their grief and open up their hearts once again to one another and this little girl.

It is a movie with deep and touching sadness, however it may be therapeutic for some. Perhaps, it will give you some Christmas Hope.

See or Skip:

See, if you enjoyed the Christmas Shoes and Christmas Blessing. Not for young viewers. A true tearjerker.

Countdown to Thanksgiving - Hallmark Movies and More!

Now that it is officially November, the Countdown to Thanksgiving has begun! I know it's a special day for so many families! It's such a special time and gathering.... a day I hold so dear... especially the precious time that our family is all gathered around at the table and we all bow our heads to say grace to our Precious Lord for all our many blessings!

Also, I just wanted to share... that I added in the Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Thanksgiving Movies! So many wonderful movies to watch and they start from 12 NOON to 12 MIDNIGHT!
