Hello, friends! The weekend is upon us once again!
It's time for all of us When Calls the Heart fans to return to Hope Valley on Sunday night for the beginning of Season 10! This is such a great gift at the end of Christmas in July! The anticipation is nearly like waiting for Santa to come. (Side note: I've caught some of the older episodes of WCTH on Hallmark Drama, and it's been interesting and delightful to look back and see how far these characters have come. All of the cast truly seems like one big family.)
Great American Family will end Christmas in July on Saturday and have the premiere of their first-ever cozy mystery on Sunday night, The Abigail Mysteries! I'm looking forward to seeing how faith will be incorporated into this story and how it will ultimately help Abby solve this mystery.

☀️ SHINING HIS LIGHT ☀️
(This is one of the many scriptures you will see
in The Abigail Mysteries)
"For if you forgive other people
when they sin against you,
your heavenly Father
will also forgive you."
~Matthew 6:14 (NIV)
I'll definitely tune into WCTH! Hopefully it's a good, clean premiere.
ReplyDeleteAlso definitely recording The Abigail Mysteries. :)
No offense, but Aloha Heart sounds like it's filled with more climate change propaganda.
-Maria
Maria, Those are my weekend picks, too. I hope they both are good! Enjoy watching! :)
DeleteBlessings, Net
I've been having trouble logging in to the Hallmark channel lately, so don't know if I will be able to watch WCTH yet. Hopefully they will be streaming the episodes for a good while like last year....but I am really excited to see this season!!💖
ReplyDeleteAbigail, Oh, nooooo... I sure hope you are able to log-in to watch the 1st ep of WCTH season 10!!! Maybe, whatever the tech issue is, it will be fixed. I'll be hoping it works for you! :)
DeleteGood news, at least for now! I'm still having difficulties with logging in, but was able to find a clear video on YouTube. I really enjoyed this episode. I especially loved the Elizabeth/Rosemary scenes. I loved how understanding Elizabeth was concerning the dress and the Matron of Honor scene was so touching!
DeleteI will be recording Aloha Heart and also the Mystery Movie on Great American. Hopefully this is the first of many mystery movies on Great American as most of our faves from Hallmark are being canceled. I don’t know if it was already reported here but I did read online about another Curious Caterer being made called “The Last Suppers” I really do like this series with Nikki Deloach and Andrew Walker, they have great chemistry together.
ReplyDelete—Paula
Paula, Yes, there is another "Curious Caterer" coming! I think it was first known about back in March. I would imagine it would air sometime soon. I've seen the title listed as The Last Suppers: A Curious Caterer Mystery or Curious Caterer: The Last Suppers.
DeleteThe storyline has me baffled, though, because it talks about Goldy (Nikki DeLoach) getting married. Sure, she and Detective Tom Shultz are interested in one another, but I don't recall her character being romantically involved to the point of marriage.
This is the storyline given on IMDB:
"A a pastor gets killed just before Goldy's wedding. Tom finds his body and then disappears, leaving a lot of questions unanswered."
Hope we'll hear something new about this movie soon. The story has me very intrigued.
Blessings to you! Net
Hi Net, yes I’m with you, I was so lost when I read this on IMBD… I hope they don’t skip the whole romance between them, I would like to see that develop before a wedding movie.
Delete—Paula
Do you think it might be a flashback??
DeleteAloha Hearts might not be entirely family friendly based on a clip I saw. Lately, I've been on a "Murder, She Wrote" kick and I've been dvr-ing lots of episodes on HM&M and started binge-watching. There have been lots of previews for "Aloha Heart", which looked like it could maybe be a cute movie to watch, especially set in such a pretty tropical setting (albeit, probably a bit heavy on the global warming drivel - but that's not unusual for Hallmark movies these days). I don't think I've ever seen a movie with this lead actor and, from the promos, he looks like he might be entertaining. Anyway, one of the short promo clips they played had his character asking Taylor Cole something along the lines of "How about a leis?" to which she gets excited and responds "Yes!! Please!!". That's all fine and good when you view it in the terms of a traditional Hawaiian "leis" being a beautiful necklace made of flowers and given out to guests and friends. However, from the clip showing Taylor's response to his question it was obvious to me that the directors were trying to give his question a double meaning so that instead of hearing "leis" (a floral necklace), the audience (and Taylor) were supposed to hear "lay" and interpret it to be the crude term for sex. Hopefully, I interpreted that clip wrong and perhaps the rest of the movie is probably quite cute but because of that one clip I decided to delete it off the schedule on my dvr. Besides, I've got too many mystery shows to keep binge-watching.
ReplyDelete(And, by the way, I never realized Murder, She Wrote had so much stuff and subject matter in it that is really rather tawdry - lots of affairs, drinking, sleeping around, etc. I love Jessica Fletcher and scenes filmed in Cabot Cove but I'm kind of getting sick of the rest of the stuff; although, I guess greed and lust are going to always end up as top reasons on murder mysteries. So, I've switched to dvr-ing episodes of "Monk" - a show I'd never seen before - and have watched the first two episodes of season one and am quite enjoying his quirkiness; unfortunately, there is still some greed and lust involved but I'll continue to watch a few more episodes just because I love this character.)
~~Jane
Jane, Thank you for sharing this insight with us. That is interesting they may have been trying to put one over viewers with these play on words, which can have double meanings. I agree, that does sound like crude humor. I'm so glad you shared this.
DeleteI'm not exactly sure what it is, but from the promos alone, I just don't feel like Taylor and this guy have a connection. Maybe, it's just me.
As for Murder She Wrote, that is so funny that you mentioned that, because I've been noticing the same thing. The same goes for Columbo, which also has a lot of the same racy content.
As for Monk, I'm such a fan of that awesome mystery series. Nearly every episode is fantastic, and it's fun to try to solve them before Monk does. Each episode is like fitting together a 1000 piece puzzle. Most episodes are fairly PG, but there's a couple here and there that involves more adult content. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the series as much as I have. :)
Blessings on your weekend, Net
I watched about 30 minutes of "Aloha Heart" before bed. So far, it's not a re-watch, but I'm curious enough to keep going later today. I did see the scene with the lei, though, and it's innocent. She is reading good news in an email on her phone and excitedly says "Yes!" out loud at the same time the hotel manager approaches and offers her a complementary lei.
DeleteFellow Monk-lover here! I was hooked from the first episode rerun I saw a few years ago and was so happy that it stayed good to the end, getting the finale it deserved. I hope the reunion movie turns out well!
~Alicia
Interesting that you brought that up Jane, a couple of weeks ago my mom and I tried the pilot episode (it was on Prime) and were excited since it stared Anglea Lansbury. But were shocked by all the affairs and lusts. We decided to stick to the mysteries we already have.
DeleteAlicia, Thank you for sharing that. Glad to hear it was more innocent than the commercial made it look.
DeleteAlso, love hearing your enthusiasm over Monk. We are such fans, we even have a Monk bobblehead! It was a fun birthday gift. I'm hoping along with you - that the Monk reunion movie gives the series justice and is just as good!
Blessings, Net :)
Finished "Aloha Heart" and, though it was family-friendly, it felt meh to me. Not a keeper. The leads seemed mismatched and the eco storyline just annoyed. Oh well! I generally like Taylor and hope she has a nice Christmas movie. :-)
DeleteLol, the bobblehead sounds hilarious!
~Alicia
I can’t wait to watch The Abbey Mysteries! I’m hoping this is the first of many mystery movies for GAC.
ReplyDeleteMaggie, Good to hear your excitement. I feel the same way! :)
DeleteBlessings! Net
I hope to catch WCTH. Have company, so missing tonight's offerings.
ReplyDeletedstoutholcomb - Thank goodness for recording, right? Hope you enjoy the new shows, whenever you are able to watch.
DeleteHave a wonderful time with your company. :)

As I largely suspected, Aloha Heart had quite a bit of political propaganda from what I heard. Quite shameful of Hallmark to turn another movie taking place on a beautiful island into a liberal political statement. -Maria
ReplyDeleteAloha Heart is family friendly about a conservationist named Sarah travels to Hawaii for her best friend' named Lydia’s wedding, but instead of having a relaxing vacation, she finds herself helping the new hotel manager named Manu make changes to his family business.
ReplyDeleteAloha Heart is family friendly about
ReplyDeleteManu loves his Hawaiian homeland. His heart is in conservation, knowing full well his family’s hotel needs to make big changes to how the business operates for sustainability of the precious lands it sits on. His family resists his costly suggestions, wanting to stay competitive with bigger resort hotels on the islands. Sara Hamilton is the best friend & maid of honor in her friend named Lydia’s wedding to Michael, which is being held at Manu’s hotel. She has had trouble getting her foot into the world of environmental protection and is starting to lose hope she’ll be able to pursue what matters most to her. When Sara & Manu meet, she has all kinds of suggestions for making the hotel a more sustainable business, but her overzealous approach only rubs Manu the wrong way. Leading up to the wedding, Manu & Sara find out they are in fact kindred spirits. Manu needs help getting his family on board to manage the business the right way, and Sara needs to balance her work passion with enjoying life that is too quickly passing by. In the partnership that forms, they discover they make the right kind of team, especially as an unexpected love for each other enriches their dream of making the world a better place.

The Abigail Mysteries is such a great movie. To be honest, it's my first mystery movie, I didn't watch any of them on Hallmark. I thought it wasn't my genre. And I'm so happy that my first experience was with Abby. It's not just a mystery, it's also about faith, trust in God, in His plan for your life. I liked the idea with all the Scripture clues. I liked the leading actors and it would be really great to see Abby again. This would make a great series to watch. So thankful to GAF and PureFlix for their determination to stand out, to be different in this world of all these so-called "popular trends". I was really blessed with this movie. ~Oksanka~
ReplyDeleteOksanka, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your review for "The Abigail Mysteries." I'm glad to hear how much you liked your first mystery. I've seen a lot of them through the years, and I must say, this one was extra special due to the addition of the faith.
DeleteThank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us! :)

The Abigail Mysteries..
ReplyDeleteI loved that it was faith based, the mystery itself wasn't that great, but better than I was expecting. It was nice seeing a positive cast. And having actual Bible verses and the message was good.
There were two things that bothered me..
1. The older deceased woman appearing as an angel and magically leaving her pieces of paper.
2. I was saddened that Abby and Ross divorced, since they both claimed to be believers. Marriage is meant to be forever and its holy and sacred.... I would have liked to see them patch up there marriage. And not have a Matt character /or/ no ex husband and keep Matt.
I'm enjoyed it, but not enough to buy it.
Abigail, Thank you for sharing your take, your pros and cons, on the new GAF mystery. I had some of the same misgivings, while still enjoying the faith content. I do hope, if there are future Abigail Mysteries, that her divorce is shown as not being avoidable on her part. I think the kiss was rushed at the end, as well.
DeleteBy the way, did you like that they changed the title and named the movie after you???
Thanks so much for sharing! I added your review here:

Sorry, I hope I wasn't too negative. It hits closer to me, since my family was abandoned by my biological father.
DeleteAnd haha:) I prefer Abigail, but I have a loving and stubborn family who calls me Abby.😂😂
Abigail, Oh, honey, no. You weren't too negative, at all. My heart goes out to your family. I imagine the Abigail character didn't want the divorce, just like many women whose husbands leave them unexpectedly. It is a very sad situation.
DeleteI appreciate you sharing your perspective with us.
And I think both Abigail and Abby are such lovely names - you can't go wrong either way!:)
Blessings to you, Net
Thank you Net! I am so grateful to God for your friendship! Blessings to you as well!
DeleteBtw, I have a new baby niece or nephew coming. This will be number 2! I am super excited!
Congratulations, Auntie Abigail, once again! Oh, what joy! So happy for your precious family! :)
DeleteAlso, Abigail, you asked in another comment if a certain actress is expecting. I also wondered the same thing and looked it up. She is not. I'm not going to mention her name, but she is lovely either way. :)
DeleteYes she is! She's one of my favorites!❤

ReplyDeleteI haven't watched "Aloha Heart" yet but I may not. I am happy to hear it is family friendly but I am not sure if the premise interests me or not. I have heard it was slow and tedious as well as a substantial age difference between the leads. I like Taylor Cole, so I may still watch it but it won't be a must-watch right away. However, I did watch "The Abigail Mysteries". I did enjoy that movie immensely! The lead actress was absolutely adorable and I enjoyed her banter with the male lead who was equally adorable. :-) I hope they make more because so far, this is my favorite new movie mystery series to debut in the last year. It was refreshing to watch a movie that was not afraid to be 'faith based'. And, I believe in angels. Always have; always will. It comforts me knowing angels are watching out for us. I know for certain my sweet mama is my guardian angel. :-)
Joan, Thank you for this joyful and enthusiastic review for "The Abigail Mysteries." I'm so glad to hear how much you enjoyed it.
DeleteBy the way, I thought Abby & Matt were adorable, too, and I also believe there are angels amongst us!!! :)
