Paws Tonight for a Hallmark Channel Special and an early Christmas Treat!

Tonight the Hallmark Channel Presents:
The American Humane Association
Hero Dog Awards

image via: Hallmark Crown Media, with James Denton and Beth Stern

via Hallmark: The Hero Dog Awards, presented for the past four years by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, is a moving celebration of our four-legged friends and the innumerable ways they enrich, protect, and save lives every day. The annual national competition searches out and recognizes America’s Hero Dogs – often ordinary dogs who do extraordinary things, whether it’s saving lives on the battlefield, lending sight or hearing to a human companion, or just welcoming you home at the end of a hard day.

Dogs may be nominated in eight categories for the Hero Dog Awards: Law Enforcement & Arson Dogs; Service Dogs; Therapy Dogs; Military Dogs; Guide Dogs; Search and Rescue Dogs; Hearing Dogs; and Emerging Hero Dogs (the category for ordinary dogs). Finalists in each category will be judged by a blue-ribbon panel to determine the top American Hero Dog.

TV personality, author, and animal advocate Beth Stern and television veteran James Denton will return as co-hosts for the 2015 Hero Dog Awards, premiering Friday, October 30 at 8/7c.

Future - Favorite ?

Thank you to everyone who has submitted (so far) what you think might be Your Top 3 Christmas Movie Picks for 2015! Lots of great guesses! I admit, it's so hard to choose, but it will be fun to see what we love, in the end.

I remember thinking... I wouldn't be too fond of "Love at the Thanksgiving Parade" when it first came out. Why? You might wonder. Because one of the pictures showed actress Autumn Reeser with clowns (pictured below) and well... I'm just not a clown fan, typically, but the small scene with the clowns in the movie, is actually one of the most beautiful scenes in the film- as they are visiting sick children in the local hospital, doing their absolute best to cheer them up and bring happiness. Looking back now - I see it in such a different light. In the end, "Love at the Thanksgiving Parade" became my favorite movie that year- for 2012!

Honestly, I would never have guessed "Love at the Thanksgiving Parade" to become such a favorite - so that's why it's fun to imagine now - what we think we might like best later!!

It's Christmastime Again... and I can hardly believe I'm saying it, but... ENJOY the CHRISTMAS MOVIES Tonight!!!

INSP FILMS Present "CHRISTMAS IN THE SMOKIES"

It is my great joy to officially share with you today
the first Motion Picture produced by INSP Films:
"Christmas in the Smokies".

"Christmas in the Smokies" is a Holiday story that is appropriate for all ages. The INSP Television Network is a station you can always trust for family viewing, with touching dramas and series on their network about family, faith, and patriotism, which makes it an even greater honor for me to share and promote their film here today - with all of you! Be sure to watch the Video Clip - below!

In addition to a lovely farm setting in the Smoky Mountains, you will also recognize several well known Actors and Actresses in this new original INSP Christmas movie... which gives it that extra special sense of warm familiarity and coming home. After all, that is INSP's endearing tagline... "Welcome Home"!

MOVIE REVIEW

Movie: Christmas in the Smokies

Network: INSP

Original Air Date: November 29, 2015

CAST:

Sarah Lancaster ... Shelby Haygood
Alan Powell ... Mason Wyatt
Barry Corbin ... Wade Haygood
Jill Wagner ... Trisha Greene
Rebecca Koon ... Annie Haygood
Gregory Alan Williams ... Bud Walker
Brett Rice ... Ralph Baxter
Danny Vinson ... DJ Baley

PLOT:

via INSP PRESS RELEASE: "Christmas in the Smokies" tells the story of Shelby Haygood, a headstrong woman (Lancaster), who along with her loving and supportive parents (Corbin, and Rebecca Koon) finds herself on the verge of losing her family’s historic berry farm to an impending retail expansion. Over one eventful holiday season, she tries every avenue possible to save the farm, and her last hope is to throw a Christmas concert fundraiser, headlined by her former love, Mason Wyatt, a ne’er do well country music superstar with a track record of consistently disappointing Shelby. As the day of the concert approaches, they all must learn the value of family, faith, community and forgiveness before time runs out. INSP can be seen on Dish Network (channel 259), DirecTV (channel 364), Verizon FiOS (channel 286), AT&T U-verse (channel 564) and more than 2,800 cable systems.

Movie Review:

Christmas in the Smokies is as Americana, wholesome, and sweet as fresh baked Apple (or Blueberry!) Pie! From the very start you will be drawn into the story of the Haygood family, who is sadly on the verge of losing their farm right after Christmas. Their daughter Shelby, portrayed by actress Sarah Lancaster, is doggedly determined to do everything in her power not to let that happen. One small problem, however, has her a bit distracted and off her game, Country singing sensation Mason Wyatt, her old boyfriend who left town and broke her heart years ago, has suddenly returned. Shelby can only guess his reasons, while doing her best to guard and reason with own her heart, and focus on saving the family farm.

The casting overall for Christmas in the Smokies is top-notch terrific! The father, Wade Haygood, portrayed by actor Barry Corbin, (“Mountain Top”, “Shadow on the Mesa”) gives just the right spice of humor and realism to his boisterous character, while the Mother, Annie Haygood (actress Rebecca Coon, “The Notebook”, “A Different Kind of Christmas”) is in general soft spoken, but also resolute in protecting her family.

As I mentioned above, Sarah Lancaster (“Fir Crazy”, “Tis the Season for Love”) portrays the lead character, their daughter Shelby Haygood, who has a spark and spunk that matches her delightful best friend, Trisha Greene, (actress Jill Wagner, “Autumn Dreams”). With a little southern sass in both their voices, these two have some real fun scenes together!

Then, there is the famous country singer Mason Wyatt, portrayed by actor Alan Powell, (of “Where Hope Grows” and the TV series “Nashville”), who beautifully sings all of his character’s songs in the movie. Of course, every story must have an antagonist, a bad guy or villain, so to speak. In this instance, that character is Ralph Baxter, portrayed by actor Brett Rice (“Remember the Titans”), who is perfectly detestable and greedy in his desire to take over the Haygood farm.

Through all of the ups & downs of the Haygood’s struggles, Shelby’s father reminds her to hold tight to her faith and hope, and their belief of the child who was born in the manger.

"I Hope You Dance, the Power and Spirit of Song" - a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Film

MOVIE REVIEW

Movie: I Hope You Dance

Network: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Original Air Date: November 26, 2015

A Hallmark Thanksgiving Special

screen cap image via Trailer

CAST:

PLOT:

via Hallmark Press Release: A powerful and inspirational film about hope, faith and optimism and the power of music to inspire and heal. It is the first film of its kind to explore how one extraordinary song has changed people's lives.

The film explores how, after the death of the only child, parents realized that the only way to truly honor their daughter’s memory was by celebrating the message of her favorite song, “I Hope You Dance.” Today, her spirit lives on in the six individuals whose lives were saved by the gift of her donated organs. The special also showcases a dance school that uses “I Hope You Dance” to teach dancing to the homeless and employs its message to get them back on their feet. The special reveals how “I Hope You Dance” fueled a woman’s miraculous recovery from a devastating spinal cord injury that should have killed her instantly. Her doctor has never seen anything like it – despite not breathing for several minutes and becoming instantly paralyzed, she now leads a normal life and goes dancing every Tuesday night.

The late, legendary Dr. Maya Angelou, author/speaker/spiritual leader Joel Osteen, world celebrated artist/songwriters Brian Wilson (“God Only Knows”), Graham Nash (“Teach Your Children”) and Vince Gill offer their unique perspective on this landmark song as well as themes explored in the film, the nature of creativity and its ability to touch and motivate.
