Which movies will you Fall for this weekend?
My personal top two movie picks are A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery and Swing into Romance!
Next to Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Aurora Teagarden, and Garage Sale Mysteries, the Hannah Swensen Mysteries (forever Murder, She Baked to me!) is one of my all-time favorite Hallmark mysteries. I'm just hoping the rift between Hannah and Mike is resolved in this new one, and I can't wait to see Hannah's sister, Andrea, return! I have a feeling that's going to be such a sweet reunion.
As for Swing into Romance, I'm looking forward to seeing Danica McKellar and David Hadyn-Jones paired together again since their Hallmark movie, My Christmas Dream, from 2016. Plus, there's certain to be lots of energy and possible friction in this movie as the two team up to potentially win a dancing competition.
UP's (new to them) premiere this Sunday night, Sweet as Maple Syrup, follows a day filled with encore rom-coms and a new episode of Heartland. Sweet as Maple Syrup is a lighthearted, feel-good romantic comedy, which has two great leads, Brooke Nevin (Jingle Around the Clock) and Carlo Marks (Chesapeake Shores). It's one of those charming movies that leaves you feeling good inside, like being wrapped in a warm blanket while eating a stack of pancakes - with sweet maple syrup, of course!
3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost is another Hallmark movie new this year that obviously has a character who portrays a ghost. In this particular film, the ghost, Ruby, is seeking to pass over from this world to the hereafter, and Anna (Julie Gonzalo) jokes (included in the promo) that she needs an exorcist. This type of content is not something I'm interested in, but I must say, it is sweet that real-life couple Chris McNally and Julie Gonzalo are starring in a movie together since the two first met in 2018 during their first Hallmark movie, The Sweetest Heart. I would like to hear feedback, however, from those of you who do decide to watch this.
Speaking of Chris McNally, I hope all of you Hearties enjoy the latest episode of When Calls the Heart on Sunday night. Like many of you, I'm filled with questions, and I'm perplexed about how this season will end. The latest WCTH promo states, "The Decision that will Change Hope Valley Forever." That is truly a dramatic statement, which could have all sorts of meanings. Will there be a flip in the Elizabeth-Lucas-Nathan love saga? Or will Elizabeth and Lucas end the season saying I do? So many questions are left unanswered; whatever happens, I can't wait to see how Season 10 ends!
Have a Blessed Weekend, Everyone!

SHINING HIS LIGHT:
"Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near."
~James 5:7-8
ReplyDeleteGood morning Net.
My personal top two movie picks are also A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery and Swing into Romance!
I agree wholeheartedly with you Net about Mike and Hannah. I don’t like them at odds because they are so great together. That issue better be resolved in this movie. And, like you I am so excited Andrea is returning. Like Mike and Andrea, Andrea and Hannah are magic together.
I am also looking forward to watching “Swing into Romance”. Danica and David are two of my favorites. The movie looks like fun, and I can never get enough of dancing in movies. π
I have seen “Sweet as Maple Syrup” multiple times and I already have it set to record. It is one of my personal favorite movies and it brings me joy. I can’t wait to view it again. You are right, Net. It is charming!
I plan on watching “3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost” even though it is about ghosts. I really like Julie and Chris together so I will report back after watching it. The ghost’s clothing is from a period in time I am drawn to. Sometimes I wish I had been born in another timeframe because anything from the 20’s, 30’s or 40’s intrigues me so much. Some of my all-time favorite movies were made in the 30’s and 40’s. And, both men and women’s clothing from the 20’s through the end of the 40’s are classic and just beautiful.
I apologize for the length of my comment today Net. As you can tell, I am really excited about the movie choices the upcoming weekend. And the changing of the season along with the brilliant leaves makes me happy. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I bet Elizabeth will end up with Nathan. That might explain why they were already renewed for season 11 before this current season even premiered. Elizabeth just doesn't seem happy or excited in the slightest about planning a wedding with Lucas. But we shall see! I thought there was no way she'd end up with Lucas before haha
ReplyDeleteAlso, the cover photos for the new GAC movies this fall look very well done. Reminds me of hallmark in the good old days:)
~Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn, Absolutely, I wants Elizabeth ends up with Nathan.

What Little Jack really wants?
What Elizabeth wants?
I loved the Sweetest Heart so I’m disappointed in the storyline of Chris and Julie’s movie. But ghosts are not my thing no matter who is in the movie.
ReplyDeleteWCTH has kept my stomach in knots the last few episodes so I’m looking forward to the resolution of that. I have a sneaking suspicion that the season will end with her calling off her engagement to Lucas because she’s not through grieving Jack and next season she and Nathan will get together. There’s not enough between them to make an interesting story, in my personal opinion, but I do feel like this new show runner is definitely wanting to push the mountie/teacher narrative whether it makes sense or not. I just wish they hadn’t spent 4 years developing Lucas and Elizabeth. I hope I’m wrong because Elizabeth is not going to come out of it looking very good. But I’ll still tune in next year because right now Lucas’ future is far more interesting than Elizabeth’s 5 year trauma.
Rebecca
I can’t believe there are only 2 episodes left of this season. It doesn’t seem like enough time to fix everything and make it right, especially before a wedding.
ReplyDeleteSurely Lucas fans wouldn’t be behind Elizabeth marrying Lucas right now when she seems uncertain about her future.
And I’m not saying I want her to choose Nathan now either. I’ve always liked Nathan, but I think he deserves better than to be someone’s second choice. That decision has already been made.
Wish I could see Chris and Julie together again, but I’m not watching 3 rooms, 2 baths, 1 ghost either. Ghosts are evil.
ReplyDeleteThis feels like the get it right weekend for Hallmark. First, Hannah and Mike need to get back together, then Elizabeth and Lucas need to figure things out or break up once and for all.
ReplyDeleteBoth need a mulligan. Rob
DeleteI keep thinking back to season 4. When Jack is going away to fight, and Elizabeth really wanted to follow him. I miss that in her now.
ReplyDeleteShe was younger and it was before she had little Jack. HW has became her home, i think her partner should respect that.
DeleteAbigail, I agree! She should be willing to follow Lucas just like she was willing to follow Jack.
DeleteThis is just my opinion but I think the current powers that be are so desperate to eventually have her with another mountie that they don’t really care how this is changing her character or making her look. It’s frustrating to watch this season.
Rebecca
Don't you love this verse....
Delete~Ruth 1:16
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
Abigail, That is a beautiful scripture. Ruth's story has always touched my heart. She remained so faithful to her mother-n-law, even when she didn't have to, and I believe God rewarded her because of that.
DeleteBlessings to you! Net
My dad, my two sisters, and two brothers are away on a church group camping trip. Just me and my mom here.(not the outdoorsy type, ;) We'll watch the Hannah Swenson movie tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful we have Great American Family. Danica's new movie looks great and Christmas looks even better. Paula T.
ReplyDeleteMy TV guide has GAF Christmas movies starting October 14th-Destined 2: Christmas Once More and No Mystery By the Books. I was curious if anyone else had heard about the change.
ReplyDeleteYes! GAF has updated their schedule to begin their Christmas movies a week sooner than anticipated.
DeleteI posted details here:

Schedule news…
ReplyDelete“Mystery by the Book” has unfortunately been removed from Great American Family’s October schedule.
Beyond that, I’ve been asked not to share fully just yet until Great American Family shares more news next week, so I’ll just whisper to only my friends here that some exciting details are starting to be posted in the schedule on GAF’s web-site.

(Be sure to click over to Friday, October 13th and beyond… as the schedule is released!)
Blessings, Net
Nice to see the Christmas movies being added! -Maria
DeleteAwesome Christmas movie news, Net!
DeleteI can’t believe they canceled out on Mystery by the Book again. First they announced it for summer- bumped it to Fall - then it disappeared. I hope the programming dept can do a better job in the future.
Amen to your last statement. I wonder if we'll ever see Mystery by the Book.
DeleteGreat American Family shared on Facebook that "Mystery by the Book" will air on their channel in early 2024.
DeleteI would have liked to see Fall go on a little longer on GAF. I would have liked to watch Mystery by the Book. and I wouldnt have minded the Christmas early, but it is STILL THE SAME Christmas movies GAF always has, nothing new except when they have a new movie. Ugh, can't they buy some other movies? It will be hard to watch GAF all season as they are only adding 20 new movies and they play them 24/7 for more than 2 months. Please get some other movies.
DeleteSabrina
As a fan of the mystery movie series, I am glad to see Hannah Swenson Mysteries offered this weekend. I agree with others on the blog that GAF is improving on presentation from all angles.
ReplyDeleteHubby is off for his annual out of state get together with his brother for a weekend of football and eating BBQ at a family favorite restaurant. They lost their other brother a few years back and make every effort to see each other each year along with texts and telephone calls throughout the year. Great timing, I will enjoy both Hannah Swenson Mysteries and Swing into Romance, plus catch up on some sewing projects. I love having a good movie playing while sewing away- ah contentment. Will be adding HSM to my DVR saved movies for us to watch.
Net, thanks for update and everyone for the good comments.
-Gabe’s Mom
I have never been and Elizabeth -Lucas fan. I was always on team Nathan. I did not watch for a few seasons as a result. I have watched on and off this season and I am still not on team Lucas.
ReplyDeleteHe seems underhanded as if he has an agenda all his own and forget others.
so many possibilities
ReplyDeleteYay! Excited to finally get yo watch Danica newest movie!
ReplyDeleteMisty
I'm excited for Julie and Chris' movie. I know it has a ghost in it, but I feel a person should watch movies and TV shows for entertainment value and try not to dissect them too much. I think it looks really good. I'm also interested in when calls the heart. It'll be fun to see if the decision is Lucas going to Union City, Elizabeth deciding if she wants to marry him still, or is Nathan still in the picture? Or maybe it's all a red herring and the decision has nothing to do with Elizabeth. Stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteLucas mentions Capitol City
DeleteSo many great movies this weekend! Absolutely tuning in to Hannah Swenson mystery as well as Sweet as Maple Syrup, those storylines are just so fall and I love it. I’m not really into dancing movies but I love the cast so I’ll probably record it. I am super super bummed about the ghost movie as I would love to see Chris and Julie together again but I cannot support the ghost storyline. I don’t know what is up with hallmark and these ghost movies π I’ll be living vicariously through you Net and your cooler fall temps…it will be 99 here in CA tomorrow, our allergies are out of control and I’m itching to be in my comfy leggings and sweaters, hopefully soon it will feel like fall here.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend everyone!
~Paula
What does its mean Hope Valley can change forever?
ReplyDeleteI'm actually looking forward to all the movies. It doesn't bother me about the Ghost, as long as they aren't mean or witchy Ghosts. I'm really looking forward to Chris and Julie together. GAF is still my favorite of all of them. WCTH??? I was a Team Nathan fan from the start but some how or other I am feeling a little resentful of this possibility of Nathan and Elizabeth getting together. Who knows it might be just to get us all worked up to keep their ratings up. Didn't know that about Christmas starting on the 14th, different.
ReplyDeleteThe Hannah Swenson Mystery was good. I was almost jumping up and down in my seat when Andrea showed up. And I loved how in the ending when the two(Mike and Hannah) make up, Andrea says,"Turn me around, " because she was on FaceTime.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed Hannah didn't ask for the ring back. Only accepted to start over. Hopefully we will see more of these.
As as I LOVE Norman.(I was pro Norman, similar to the WCTH's Nathan/love triangle ;) I was grateful he wasn't in this episode. I feel like we needed the love triangles to finally be over. Doesn't mean I don't want him back, but as an already happily taken man.
Not interested in the Ghost one. I love how those two are a real life couple(and little family), and love their other one about the cupcakes. But don't want to support anything that involves the dead/ passing through... BLAH! I big no no for me.
Today felt like the first true day of fall! I spent the day shopping with my mom. It was beautiful out!
Abigail, Thank you for sharing your review of the new "Hannah Swensen." So happy to hear how much you enjoyed it, and the special time with your mom this weekend. It's nice to have fun bonding moments like that. :)
DeleteSwing into Romance is absolutely FANTASTIC! π Absolutely highly recommend it! -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Thanks so much for sharing! Glad you liked it! π
DeleteI watched Swing Into Romance tonight and all I can say is “The leaves are back!” I’m sure everyone who hated all the leaves hung from everything in A Harvest Homecoming will just get a kick out of these π looks like they recycled all those leaves for this movie….I was giggling throughout the movie as I saw them from scene to scene at the general store, the kitchen, his office, the dance practice, the bar, all throughout the town….Aside from the decor I thought the chemistry between Danica and David was nice and the daughter was cute. I’m not really into dancing movies so probably a one time watch for me.
ReplyDelete~Paula
Paula, I haven't been able to watch, yet, but I have seen some mentions of the leaves returning on social media. I hope it wasn't too distracting this time. I did turn it on to check my recording and the scene I saw had quite the display of leaf garland. Like you, I laughed out loud when I saw it. I will definitely brace myself for seeing them throughout the movie.
DeleteNice to hear that you enjoyed watching it, if only for a one-time watch. :)
My mini review of Swing Into Romance. Family friendly, funny and fun! The dance scenes were great & David did a great job. The daughter was adorable & I liked how they were working together from the start & not on opposite sides.
ReplyDeleteMisty
Misty, So wonderful to hear from you! It's also nice to hear how much you enjoyed Swing Into Romance.
DeleteThank you for sharing with us! :)
WCTH- I feel completely manipulated right now. Unless there is a huge twist next week, I'm done with this show for good. There was literally no reason to go down this horrid soap opera role just because some die hard fanatics couldn't stand the thought of a different love story being played out. -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, I knew if this happened the Lucabeth fans would be crushed. Even though Lucas wasn't initially my pick for Elizabeth, I'm still trying to process this break-up.
DeleteI'm sorry this has hurt you. I remember feeling very disappointed at the end of Season 8, but after the long time waiting for the next season, I came back to the show because I love the various stories of the community of Hope Valley.
Whatever you decide, I understand.
So far, the only movie I have watched was 'Swing into Romance'. I liked the movie but I didn't love it as much as I had hoped. David and Danica had great chemistry and the dancing was phenomenal, but for some reason, overall the movie left me feeling empty. I can't put my finger on it but something was missing.
ReplyDeleteJoan, I appreciate you sharing your perspective with us. It's always good to get everyone's unique thoughts on these movies. :)
DeleteHi Net,
DeleteYou are welcome. I really wanted to like it more than I did. My husband actually enjoyed it more than me. Anyway, I hope the other new movies are better. :-) And, I can't wait to re-watch "Sweet as Maple Syrup" again this weekend. As I stated in an earlier post, that movie is one of my all time favorites. Everything about it is endearing. I hope you have a wonderful day.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hallmark’s ‘3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost’ – family-friendly and fun. Casting Madeleine Arthur as the 100-year old ghost, Ruby, was pure genius. Her hair, make-up and wardrobe are all spot-on to create the quintessential 1920’s socialite and flapper, who now in 2023 longs to cross over and be with her true love. Ruby’s story of unfulfilled love parallels that of the realtor (Julie Gonzalo) who is attempting to stage the spooky mansion for sale, while cautiously reconciling her relationship with her ex-fiance. The interaction between Anna and Ruby keeps the story moving towards a two-for-one romantic ending. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteMPT, I appreciate you sharing this review of "3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost" with us.
DeleteI, too, love the 1920's fashion! :)
Net, if that's the case, I hope you get to watch it. Have a blessed rest of the week.
DeleteMPT, I completely agree with your review! I love it when a movie can incorporate the "old days" without resorting to time travel, and this one is very original in having a ghost from the '20's be a major part of the movie. It was nice to see how she and Anna bonded after the initial "scare". And yes, Madeleine Arthur - who I was not familiar with before this movie - is just perfect as the flapper ghost. I can't imagine anybody better to play this part than her. That said, I think a better plot would have been to have this as a murder mystery - have Ruby killed in the '20's and she and Anna work together to determine who was the killer. Still, this is a very original movie and if you don't mind the ghost aspect, it is at least worthy of a one-time watch.
DeleteSwing Into Romance was just okay for me. To be honest, I didn't like her co-star so this colors my opinion. Danica was fabulous and had more chemistry with Gleb than with David. I do think David was good with his dancing.
ReplyDeleteDanica was better with Victor Webster on Matchmaker Mysteries than anyone else I have seen.
I am kicking myself today because I forgot to hit record while watching Sweet As Maple Syrup. That movie is one I would buy the DVD. The chemistry between the two stars was awesome to watch. Loved everything about this movie! Thanks Net and all those who wrote reviews for it.
ReplyDeletekitkat, "Sweet As Maple Syrup" is a good one! I looked it up, and UPtv will have an encore showing this Sunday, October 15th at 3pm/2c. Hope you can catch it or record it then.
DeleteThanks Net! My DVR will be on.
DeleteI feel cheated. I feel like Elizabeth had a affair. It's like Jack dying all over again. I don't know what else to say....sooo wrong. I hate the world's view of love how anyone can fall out of love. Wrong, wrong, wrong! I think the writers were trying to please the Nathan fans. Thinking about it makes me cry.
ReplyDeleteThis is still my favorite show! I love Hope Valley and the people. But hurt by the writers decision.
I wish Jack could come back. Maybe say something like his body was never found and he had amnesia. I know that won't happen, but a girl can dream! ;)
Loved seeing Henry with the baby Goldie.
Abigail, I feel the same way! No matter how the writers and producers slice it and try to explain it away, Elizabeth cheated on Lucas. That’s all there is to it. After running to him at the end of season 8, the I love yous, accepting his proposal, involving him in her son’s life, not to mention all the kissing last year, for her to dump him is nothing short of betrayal. I never ever thought I would see a portrayal of that on WCTH at all and certainly not a glorification of it.
DeleteI’m not sure what story this season was supposed to be telling us. Only friends and neighbors matter? Loyalty to your future spouse takes second place to everything? I just don’t get it. And I’m so sad about it.
Rebecca
Abigail, I'm so sorry WCTH has disappointed you. The end of this episode was such a shock to me, as well. Even though we all knew it could be a possibility, I never dreamed it would actually happen. Engagement's in that time period were a much more serious commitment than they are today. Of course, the show doesn't follow a lot of things that were true to that era.
DeleteAs much as I like Nathan, I'm not sure I'm eager after all of this, to see the two of them together. I feel Nathan's heart has been betrayed, as well, by Elizabeth, and if she one day tells him she loves him, will she really mean it? Or will she take it back a season or two later?
Even though it is a fictional series, I know many viewers have given a lot of their time watching, sharing, and promoting this show with others.
I agree, the Henry moment was a so beautiful. He's had a lot of heartwarming, teary-eyed worthy moments this season.
I'm glad to know "When Calls the Heart" is still your favorite show, in spite of all this drama. I feel the same. :)
Yeah Net, I don't think she should be with either man right now until she's 100% sure on what she wants. (unless this is some kind of fake out, but who knows.).
DeleteI left another really long post on the WCTH page earlier this morning, it's a bit OT, but it explains how this kind of bad writing happened on another show that I loved for years and how it reasonates with what happened last night with me. -Maria
Maria, I agree with you. Hope Valley seems to be her love.
DeleteNot at all pertinent to this particular thread but I was on IMDB and just noticed they renamed "A Godwink Christmas"; it's now listed as "A Christmas Coincidence". Oh, good grief, when did they do that?! ~~Jane
ReplyDeleteJane, So good to hear from you!
DeleteThankfully, Hallmark still refers to this movie as "A Godwink Christmas," but when the DVD of it came out in Australia, they renamed it on the DVD cover, "A Christmas Coincidence." I agree, it is ridiculous.
It's like they didn't want to offend anyone by putting God's name on it. Boy, will they be offended when they watch, because God is mentioned all throughout! :)
Blessings, Net
At this point with WCTH, I don’t really know where I stand. It used to be a sort of escape for me but not now. It has kept my stomach in knots this season and sickened me last night. I will watch the finale and most likely by next year I will tune back in but it will be without any interest in Elizabeth or her story. Lucas’ future looks far more interesting than hers. I’m sure they will eventually get her back with Nathan and while I never was a fan, I really started to dislike him this year. All the lingering looks and intimate conversations were wildly inappropriate with an engaged woman and I would have felt that way if she had chosen him and Lucas was hanging around. It’s just distasteful and I’m surprised that they went there on this show. Oh well. Thanks for allowing me to vent. I’m about to start a rewatch of some of my favorite older shows that end well and don’t change the very nature of the central characters to fit a writer’s whim.
ReplyDeleteRebecca
Rebecca, Thank you for sharing your heart with us!
DeleteI know it doesn't compare, but I remember feeling knots in my stomach when I watched the episode when Jack died. I said I'd never watch again, but the next season came, and I returned. I was also hurt again when Elizabeth originally chose Lucas. Seeing the two of them together has not been easy, and no matter what, I feel like Elizabeth's engagement to Lucas was a betrayal to Nathan, if he is truly the man she loves after saying over and over she didn't love him, but instead gave her heart to Lucas. Oh, what a mess.
I think Nathan, who I adore, tried his best to just be friends and find love elsewhere, but something always drew the two back to each other.
I'm not sure how this finale episode will go, but I agree with others who have said that Elizabeth needs some time alone again.
Please know, Rebecca, you are always welcome here to vent and share your thoughts with us.
God bless you! Hugs, Net
Thank you Net! I appreciate your kind remarks. I can understand the disappointment that you felt when she chose Lucas over Nathan. And I do agree that she needs to be single for a while before considering a relationship. Unfortunately it looks as if she’s going to go to Nathan immediately in the next episode which isn’t a good look for her and even more of a disappointment. But at this point I’m not surprised at anything the writers have her do.
DeleteThank you again for being so kind about it.
Rebecca
I have not watched a Hallmark movie in over a year because every movie they sneak in woke messages. I decided to watch 3 Bed 2 Bath 1 Ghost. It was a good movie. No sneaky surprises. I will be give a few Christmas movies a chance but I already saw so that I will not go anywhere near.
ReplyDeleteKen, I appreciate hearing from you, and trust me, I complete understand your hesitancy.
DeleteWhatever Christmas movies you decide to watch - I would love to get your thoughts on it.
Thanks so much for sharing with us! :)
Net
One more thing and then I’m done, lol!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who feels like they took this Elizabeth-Rosemary friendship too far this year? “I really like knowing you can see my light on.” Paraphrasing. Like, what? Those women are too old for that. Too strange for me in a season full of strange behaviors.
Rebecca
We loved Hallmark’s “3 Beds, 2 Baths, 1 Ghost.” It was a fun and family-friendly light-hearted movie with great costumes from the 1920s. The character of Ruby, the “ghost” from the 1920s was the highlight of the movie. We liked how it is different from typical Hallmark movies and find that we enjoy the multiple historical time period movies the best.
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Laurie, Thank you for sharing your review with us. From the pics I've seen, the costumes do look incredible in this movie. Glad you enjoyed it! :)
DeleteSweet as Maple Syrup was the relaxing break I really needed π . -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, So glad you enjoyed "Sweet as Maple Syrup!" :)
DeleteI had a feeling all along that was what would happen on WCTH. I don't watch the show and haven't for many years as it is too much Elizabeth for me, but it always felt to me the people in charge of the show were going to "try" and build a grand love story out of E & N. This was not the way to do it, they really alienated fans of E&L, and this was done very poorly and mean. But like I said, not a fan of the show as it is way too much one character that i don't like.
ReplyDeleteI did watch 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1 ghost. It was really good. I saved it. I liked it a lot. I do not know if they ever said what Ruby died of, but it seems she died in 1923 as it was 100 years later and she said she died in 1923. So she must have died right after they showed her alive.
I liked JG and CM together, they really sparkle, love that they are a real life couple as well. The house was pretty, Ruby was THE BEST in the movie. That actress was so good. The movie was really good and I loved it. There were parallels with Anna and Ruby in that they both loved boys that their fathers didn't approve of. I know that was a bigger deal in 1923 than 2023, most of the younger crowd still live with parents barely working and that's ok. I liked that Anna told her dad she wanted a relationship with him, but she was going to be herself.
I watched Swing into Romance too, it was pretty good. I didn't save it, but i love the fall feels and love Danica and DHJ together again. Only thing, it seemed hard to see DHJ character hurt, and it bothered me that he kept asking over and over if she wanted her old partner to dance instead. I get wanting to be sure she wins, but it was too much and made him look weak in my opinion.
I hope Field Day is good as the previews look pretty funny and good. I just wish HM had more actual fall movies this year. There really hasn't even been one that was fall, except i am thinking field day will be. I feel cheated in that. I like when it was Fall Harvest, not this Fall into love, which the ad for Fall Into love has all kinds of pumpkins, and it appears 2 women falling into love. I guess it is hard to make it woke when its called Fall Harvest. I just really wanted some fall movies.
Sabrina
Sabrina, It's always great to hear from you!
DeleteI enjoyed getting your take on both of these movies + When Calls The Heart, from a non-watcher's viewpoint.
What I enjoyed most about this WCTH season, was the fact that not as many stories were just about Elizabeth. Course, she is still the main character, and she shows up in nearly every group scene, as well as her own, but there seemed to be more depth and growth with more members of the community this season, including Henry, Bill, Nathan, Allie, Angela, Pastor Joseph, Lucas, Rosemary, and even Little Jack, at times.
Anyway, thank YOU again for your movie reviews and I'm also hoping Hallmark's "Field Day" has a Fall feel to it.
By the way, UPtv's new movie, "The Cowboy and the Movie Star," is being promoted as their *Fall into Love* movie, but I'm not certain if it will have that Fall feeling, either, but I wanted to share - just in case! :)

"Swing into Romance" was such a sweet and enjoyable movie. Leading actors were just great together and the girl playing a daughter was so adorable. I'm usually not into dance movies, but this one I liked very much.

Oksanka, It's so nice to hear from you + receive this delightful review! So glad you also enjoyed "Swing into Romance." :)
DeleteBlessings to you! Net
I watched "3 bed, 2 bath, 1 ghost" today and, at least for me, it would have been better without the ghost. I found her personality annoying (pushy, know-it-all etc.) it was driving me crazy throughout the whole movie. Chris was his usual self - charming, cute, kind. I not a big fan of Julia but i liked her here.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts on "3 bed, 2 bath, 1 ghost." I appreciate it very much! :)
DeleteThank goodness Cedar Cove cured me of ever watching a Hallmark series again - Florence
ReplyDeleteFlorence, Oh yeah... Cedar Cove ended terribly. I know many fans always thought they should've done a movie just to finish it all the storylines up. That would've been a nice thing to do for all of the fans who watched that series.
DeleteI think Hallmark learned an important lesson, though, from "Cedar Cove," since "Chesapeake Shores" had a great final season and happy family ending, that left viewers (AKA Chessies) feeling complete with everyone's story.
This was my review of Sweet As Maple Syrup from back in the day:
ReplyDelete"SWEET AS MAPLE SYRUP "Food" related themes seem to be very popular at the moment and there have even been a couple of other movies with Maple Syrup centre stage. This is another winning showcase from Incendo (it is, of course, family-friendly). A very large part if this is due to the lead actors Brooke Nevin (I wonder why Hallmark have never taken her up?) and Carlo Marks - Rachelle and Derek. Both were excellent in their parts and there was wonderful chemistry between them. Although Derek was a professor and bookish there was nothing boring about him. You had a good idea how the plot would work out but their on-screen presence kept things refreshingly interesting. It was nice to see how romance developed between them from the initial antagonism to the gradual warming and eventually deeper feelings. There was a nice comedy line as Rachelle tried to avoid the match-making tactics of a local doyenne. I also liked Rachelle's brother who was a partner in the business. Knowing how these Rom.Coms usually go I was actually surprised that they didn't introduce a love interest for him - I was actually fully expecting something to develop between him and Rachelle's best friend - although there was a little twist on this at the end. Overall this a delightful, heartwarming movie which I think would appeal to most members here." Florence's rating - 8.
As for WCTH I didn't have the courage to watch the new episode after seeing the final scene with Elizabeth and Lucas. I just don't know what to think. It's hard to understand how the story can be changed so drastically, especially after season 9. I thought the words "I love you" meant something. And she was the first who said it, not Lucas. She waited for him to propose ("Our time has come"), LJ and Lucas became buddies. They were so happy together. I just don't get it. I could expect this turn of events from any other TV series, but not WCTH. I'm sorry, I'm just still processing this news.

Hello everyone.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday to all of my friends here. π
My husband and I watched the new Hannah Swensen movie as well as ‘3 bed, 2 bath and 1 ghost’.
As far as the new Hannah Swensen movie goes, let me just say, I am very happy! It was a good movie and my heart swelled at the end of the movie. Enough said for all of us who LOVE Mike and Hannah! π π I wish Andrea had a bigger role because I feel like it was a wasted opportunity. I was beyond excited to see her again, but I feel she was underutilized. I do hope she returns if they do more movies but with more scenes.
And although I am not a fan of ghost movies but ‘3 bed, 2 bath and 1 ghost’ was a lot of fun. I enjoyed it way more than expected. It had reconciliations, character growth, exquisite clothing from the 1920’s, romance, and heartfelt emotion. I am not someone who cries easily but both my husband and I were moved to tears at the end of the movie. The friendship between Ruby and Anna was sweet and Anna and Elliot were lovely. It was nice seeing two actors together who are married in real life have strong onscreen chemistry. Sometimes real-life love doesn’t carry over well to movies. Anyway, the movie was all and all a magical and engaging experience.
I am so happy that Elizabeth broke things off with Lucas. He never has seemed to fit into the life that she had built with her son and friends in Hope Valley. I don't think that she has lost her mind and seems wishy washy, but instead she has finally come to her senses again! She sees that being married to a saloon owner who seems kinda obsessed with the bigger and better things isn't the life she wants, and I'm glad that she is finally making a good decision. And I definitely disagree with the idea that the writing is bad this season. This is the sweetest season I've seen in a long time! The plots with all of the characters are interesting and easy to follow. The past few seasons were all over the place, and some scenes seemed like they were supposed to mean something and then they didn't . I always felt like I was missing something even though I was watching every episode the whole way through! There were so many random things going on the past few seasons that I get a headache just thinking about it haha. I like the new writers for this season and the way they have included Christian parts as well. Seeing the choir actually sing the name of Jesus was such a treat! And I love how they tied in past seasons by briging back Rosaleen and how Elizabeth still had the card that they gave her in season one! That was such a touching momentπ©·
ReplyDeleteWell I kind of rambled on haha but I just wanted to share my perspective,
~Kaitlyn
Hallmark's 3 BED, 2 BATH, 1 GHOST was network's highest-rated premiere since February's A PARIS PROPOSAL.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore it gained 52% in Live+3 vs Live+Same Day. Meaning: ratings increased by more than half again, when including 72 hr viewing! - Florence
