What a full weekend this is, with movie premieres spanning 2 Seasons, from Autumn to Christmas!
I'm so looking forward to watching the Christmas classics I love + Great American Family's new premiere! There are so many excellent movie options; I'm so glad I can record them all to watch one day soon.
How 'bout you? Which movie do you most want to see?
I'll also be watching the When Calls the Heart finale; like many of you, I'm eager to see exactly how season 10 will come to an end.
Blessings on your weekend, everyone!
Praying for Peace,

πΆπΆ It's my favorite time of the year! πΆπΆ GAF's 1st new premiere of the Season is definitely at the top of my list! Might take me a couple of days, but I'll still watch UPTV's new movie as well. And I'm also recording some movies on Hallmark Drama!
ReplyDeleteNot much left to say about how I feel about WCTH's finale that I haven't already said, other then: I hope it brings some actual clarity to what happened last week that doesn't involve completely retconning the last 2 years.
-Maria
I'll be checking out Destined 2. I just hope that there aren't as many "near misses" as there were in the first Destined movie that made it too ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the season finale of WCTH. Honestly, I think Elizabeth and Lucas breaking up is for the best. He is going off to save Hope Valley and I think we should just assume he wins. As it has been stated many times, he is meant for bigger things than being a saloon owner. He is doing much more good in this new purpose he's found. Whether or not Elizabeth and Nathan do end up together, I really don't care either way. I was totally Team Nathan, but realize the show really must look at the future with how it continues with the storyline. So much more is going on in Hope Valley. I hope that Henry gets to be the godfather for little Goldy. That would be a full circle moment for him, I think. As I read somewhere, for so many fans to have so much emotion means the writers are doing their job. If no one cared, it would mean the show isn't reaching with its audience. I'm just tired of if the story doesn't go the way viewers want, then they threaten to stop watching. That's a choice, but the way people are acting needs to stop. WCTH is still getting ratings, so obviously viewers aren't a problem for it. I'm sure this will upset some readers here, but it's how I feel. It is a good show with family values and we need to support it.
ReplyDeleteJennifer R, Thank you for your comment. I agree with you. This season, and in past seasons, too, it often felt like Lucas wanted a life beyond Hope Valley. Even though an engagement should be a serious commitment, they were still not married, and it was better for them to break up now, then later. I do feel for the Lucas fans, but I couldn't help from noticing that he didn't seem to be all that disappointed when he left.
DeleteI also agree, that we should remain loyal watchers of this family show. Even though I was disappointed initially that Elizabeth didn't choose Nathan, I still watched because of that reason.
I appreciate you sharing with us. Hope you enjoy the WCTH finale Sunday night.
Is anyone else thinking this...? That log Elizabeth is sitting on is the same one where she was sitting in S8, when Nathan said he loved her.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching the finale. As much as I was disappointed, I have to give it a chance. It still has my favorite characters in the world. I'll always be loyal to Hope Valley. Sorry if that came out corny. ;)
Awww... Abigail, I feel the same way! These are all such special characters.
DeleteI do wonder if that is the same location where they had their previous talk when Nathan declared his love for her? Should be interesting to see how this finale goes. I just hope they take things slow.
Yay! I haven't commented in a long while, but I just had to today when I saw the Christmas lights back and blinking brightly again this year. No bulb has blown out yet. haha!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see all the different movie options this weekend. I think it'll take me a half an hour just to set the DVR (LOL!!!), but it will be well worth it from the likes of everything being offered this weekend.
Thanks for all you do Net to put together these weekend guides. Not only do you make them neat and orderly, but you also make them extra special.
The scripture at the end has a deeper meaning for today specifically. I won't say anymore to recognize that, but I'm sure that's why you chose it. I'm also praying for peace.
God bless, Anna
Anna, It's so wonderful to hear from you! I so appreciate your kind words - that means so much! I'm so glad you enjoy these weekly premiere guides.
DeleteYes, I did choose this scripture for this difficult time for our world. I know many of us here are praying hard.
Thank you for taking the time to share.
Blessings to you, Net
Christmas movies are here around the clock, and I couldn't be happier! Is it too soon to say Merry Christmas?
ReplyDeleteNot for me. Merry Christmas to you!!! :)
Deleteand God Bless Us, Everyone!!!
Oh Jim!! I love Bing Crosby!! One of my absolute favorites. The Crooners are the best for Christmas music!! I love that song to along with White Christmas and his younger self singing Winter Wonderland.....now I'm tempted to play some on iHeart Radio. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Great American Christmas premiere weekend everyone! Here we go!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do the movie review post again this year Net.
Allie B, I absolutely will! I'm so looking forward to receiving everyone's reviews and sharing them.
DeleteHappy GAF Premiere Weekend to You, too! :)
Love the Curious Caterer Mysteries and this is the pick of the weekend for me.
ReplyDeleteYou don't expect an epic from The Cowboy & The Movie Star but the trailer looks quite good and if it follows the usual ROE pattern I'm sure I'll like it - Florence
Florence, I'm curious about "The Cowboy & The Movie Star," too. I noticed UPtv changed the original title around to feature the Cowboy first, instead of the Movie Star. I think that was a smart idea, to reach their Heartland fans.
DeleteLike you, I also watched the Reel One trailer for "The Cowboy & The Movie Star" and found it to be intriguing. It's also good to see Toby Levins, from "Murder, She Baked," has a lead role in this. It was too bad he couldn't be in the last "Hannah Swensen" mystery, too, but at least we finally got our Andrea back, even for just a little bit!
Anyway, back to the movies this weekend... I hope you enjoy your picks! :)
Blessings, Net
Hallmark Drama Christmas
ReplyDeleteMy favorite. Christmas movies
Catch a Christmas Star (2013)
North Pole (2014)
The Christmas Shepard (2014)
A Nutcracker Christmas (2016)
Love Always Santa (2016)
Silver Bells (2005)
I'm excited for When Calls the Heart. Nathan and Elizabeth have always had more natural chemistry and he represents what her life is like now. I saw the Edify show on YouTube after last week episode and there's more stories to tell with Lucas as Governor. Perhaps he needs a person to run his office? Fiona, anyone? Kavan and Chris talked of the opportunities. I for one can't wait!
ReplyDeleteJim and Abigail - You can't beat "Der Bingle" for Christmas music! One of my favorite Christmas cd's (yes, I still listen to cd's) is "The Very Best of Bing Crosby Christmas", which has many of his Christmas hits from the '30's and '40's. And the cd leads off with "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas". Highly recommended (along with "Christmas Classics", his Christmas recordings from the '60's.)
ReplyDeleteI do love hearing that song. Last Christmas at the tree lighting ceremony, they played it over the load speakers. Gave me chills.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Andrew Walker and Nikki DeLoach together, I don't like how every Curious Caterer movie involves ex-spouses. There's so many. I'll watch it since I've seen the first two. But it still bothers me.
ReplyDeleteYeah, all the exes makes me dizzy.
DeleteLooking forward to WCTH.
ReplyDeleteRewatched B and B Merry tonight (without mostly being distracted!), and it was better then I thought. :) -Maria
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have the Christmas movies start early this weekend. Bill Abbott was right. We do need these movies now as a respite from this troubled world.
ReplyDeleteYes, Bill Abbott's latest email was very nice. We certainly do need (as Bill said) the peace, joy, and love of these Christmas movies at this time.
DeleteGod bless! Net
Jim, Abigail, Mark 25...
ReplyDeleteHearing Bing Crosby sing 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' always melts my heart, too! It really feels like CHRISTMAS IS HERE!!! - when I hear Bing specifically sing those words.
I hope Great American Family makes it an annual tradition to do a commercial at the start of the season with that heartwarming Christmas song!
Happy Christmas Watching!!! :)
Jim, Forgot to mention... I also kept the Bing 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' commercial from last year, too!
ReplyDeletePlus, I also kept the "Come Home for Christmas" (Matthew West) promo and the one with "Canon in D." Those three truly touched my heart!
Destined 2 Christmas Once More was so beautiful! -Maria
ReplyDeleteDestined 2 was a great watch for our whole family Saturday night. Really enjoyable. And of course, family friendly. -Allie B
ReplyDeleteDestined 2 Christmas Once More was even better than I thought it would be. Nice start for Great American Family. Casey Elliott needs to be on the channel regularly.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I wasn't a big fan of the first one, but this one was great! Great chemistry with every one. I can't believe he still lost the ring!!
DeleteMisty
Caught a couple Christmas movies on Hallmarks Drama channel on Saturday. It made me miss those earlier days on Hallmark when each movie wasn’t quite as focused on the celeb star, but generally creating a unique Christmas story with believable characters. A movie like Northpole would probably not fit their formula now, since it’s fantasy driven and focuses mainly on children or Christmas Dance, since it doesn’t have one of the anointed Hallmark celebs, but remains one of their best films, in my opinion. It’s too bad these types of Hallmark movies won’t have room on the main Hallmark channel.
ReplyDeleteDestined 2 Christmas Once More was the best movie of the night. I hope they make Destined 3 A Christmas Wedding.
ReplyDeleteDestined 2: Christmas Once More is such a great movie! I've enjoyed every moment of it. So many sweet, tender, romantic and funny moments. Shae Robins and Casey Elliott's acting was off the charts. It will definetely be a Christmas classic along with the first part and hopefully the third movie on the way. We need to see their wedding!

Review: Destined 2: Christmas Once More -
ReplyDeleteFamily-friendly? Yes -
Keeper? On the fence -
I have to admit, I was concerned about this movie. When I read the plot summary above where "Theo continues to miss connecting with Kim", I thought, oh no, here we go again with a bunch of unbelievable near misses just like the first movie. Fortunately, that description is not accurate. Theo doesn't "miss connecting", he just runs into problems in finding the right time to propose. And for me this made for a better story line...somewhat.
I still have a problem with it and here's why. Theo is trying to propose sometime - even weeks - before Christmas. I'm sorry, but I think just about any guy would want to propose on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, not on some random day in December (and especially since he knows how busy she is right before Christmas and that she is "on break" during the holidays). And when he confides in others about not knowing what to do, it's even more surprising that not one of them tells him, "Why don't you just propose on Christmas Eve, say, right after the festival when everybody else is gone?" And then the whole thing about losing the ring and finding it at the last minute - so contrived!
Still, those problems don't take away from it being a somewhat enjoyable movie! The chemistry between the leads, and between Theo and his daughter, is spot-on. (And the actress who plays Theo's daughter is fantastic!) So I guess if you don't think too hard about it (like I have a tendency to do), it is worth a watch. A keeper? Not sure.
Mark I agree totally with your review except for calling it enjoyable. It was a hard movie to watch though the end.
DeleteField Day was a great, clean movie. It was fun too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great episode of WCTH! The best episode of the season, I think! Can’t wait for next season!
ReplyDeleteJennifer R
Destined 2 I just absolutely loved! Very much family friendly, and it is so nice to see a couple be together through the whole movie. I loved the different ways he "missed" proposing, and I loved how Theo kept his daughter involved with the "planning". I just adored this movie, and I really hope they make one more sequel so we can see The Wedding! This one I am definitely re watching frequently.
ReplyDeleteI recorded Destined 2 and Curious Caterer but have not had a chance to watch them as our weekend was jam packed and the little time I had to relax when my kids were napping I chose to watch some of the older Christmas films that were airing on Hallmark Drama. I watched Northpole and Window Wonderland and they were both cute! I’m planning on watching the new ones this week so I’ll give my review as soon as I can watch them.
ReplyDelete~ Paula
The Curious Caterer: Fatal Vows...
ReplyDeleteI thought this was their best mystery of the 3 so far. I really love it when the detective and the amateur sleuth work together.
My favorite.. His question... What's the most important thing, she says Pastry Puff. I truly loved all of those little funny moments!
This was a better ending episode to WCTH than I expected since the last few episodes. I loved Rosemary, Elizabeth, and Hickam running the poll booth!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adored Destined for Christmas 2. This movie was just so sweet and I loved how they were a couple through the whole movie. I loved all of the family moments-especially that Theo kept Ashley involved with helping with the proposal. This is definitely family friendly and I will be watching this several more times! I really hope they do one more sequel and we will be able to see a wedding! I have gone to the GAF website to do a movie review and let them know we want another sequel...lol.
ReplyDeleteHi! I know this is not a Christmas movie question, but I still have the “North to Home” movie in my DVR recordings. Some of the different things I have read about it indicate a reunion. Yours is the #1 source for all movie information! :). Please validate my belief that this is just a reunion of characters in the movie and does not also indicate that there is prequel to the movie which I would want to watch first of course. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to answer your movie question! "North to Home" is a stand alone movie. It's full of so much content, I can understand why you thought there might be more to it.
DeleteIf you haven't read the reviews for it here at It's a Wonderful Movie, you can see those here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2021/11/hallmark-channel-announces-new-year-new.html
I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! :)

Anonymous, North to Home is based on the book called The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan
DeleteChristmas sisters a movie?
The movie is called NORTH TO HOME, & although it's not set at Christmas it is a great adaptation of the novel so if you enjoyed the book, give it a try!
Sarah Morgan's The Christmas Sisters follows the story of Suzanne McBride & her three adopted daughters named Hannah, Beth, & Posy. Suzanne & Posy live in the Scottish Highlands, while Hannah & Beth have made their homes in New York City.
It’s completely different from book & movie, “The Christmas Sisters”, is to North to Home
In the book: “The Christmas Sisters”: Christmas Seasons but in movie; “North to Home”: Celebrating 3 Sister’s’ Mother’s Birthday, Hannah, Beth, & Posey’s Mother named Susanne McBride
Don't miss North to Home, the Hallmark movie based on The Chistmas Sisters!
“The perfect gift for readers who relish heartwarming tales of sisters and love.”—Booklist on The Christmas Sisters
In the snowy Highlands of Scotland, Suzanne McBride is dreaming of the perfect cozy Christmas. Her three adopted daughters are coming home for the holidays and she can’t wait to see them. But tensions are running high…
Workaholic Hannah knows she can’t avoid spending the holidays with her family two years in a row. But it’s not the weight of their expectations that’s panicking her—it’s the life-changing secret she’s hiding. Stay-at-home mom Beth is having a personal crisis. All she wants for Christmas is time to decide if she’s ready to return to work—seeing everyone was supposed to help her stress levels, not increase them! Posy isn’t sure she’s living her best life, but with her parents depending on her, making a change seems risky. But not as risky as falling for gorgeous new neighbor Luke…
As Suzanne’s dreams of the perfect McBride Christmas unravel, she must rely on the magic of the season to bring her daughters together. But will this new togetherness teach the sisters that their close-knit bond is strong enough to withstand anything—including a family Christmas?
In the movie based on “The Christmas Sisters”: Suzanne McBride & her three daughters reunite in Alaska for a memorable birthday celebration that connects their past to the present.
Net, thank you for the information regarding “North to Home”. Now, I will go ahead and watch, so, I will have more room for Christmas movies. :). My parents dislike that I take up so much space with these movies. They like the movies, just not the space issue. I do have a question about Lifetime’s Christmas movie statement. Who are they partnering with to give us more movies? Crackle, Tubi, etc.? What does TVE mean? TV Entertainment? Thanks for your help and all you do!
DeleteAnonymous, TVE basically means “TV Everywhere”.
DeleteTVE is a service offered through cable networks that allow their customers to access television content on any device (TV, desktop, mobile, tablet).
Lifetime's latest press release unfortunately does not mention the streaming sources where the NEW Lifetime movies will be available, but they may be on the ones you mentioned.
If I hear more, I'll be sure to share! :)
~Net
Thank you again…that makes sense. Tomorrow, Friday, 10/20/23, Happy Hallmark Christmas Movie Day to you and all of your readers. (I mean the entire Hallmark family of networks and platforms.)
DeleteI watched Destined 2, and I LOVED it. I love that they had all the family back, and I loved the Father/Daughter stuff in this movie, and also when Ashely and Kim had a girls night and they were so sweet together. I hope they do a Destined 3 next year, I am dying to see Kim as Ashley's mom now and all interacting.
ReplyDeleteSo many great feels in the movie like the 12 days of Christmas gifts for Hunter/Clarissa and Tori, the family dinner Theo's mom planned for the extended family in Kim's parents. Such a great movie. I am keeping it.
I also watched the Hannah move Zest for Death. I liked this one the best of the new rebranded Hannah Swenson series. I did not find the sister Michelle annoying at all, and loved having Andrea for a visit. I was ok with Hannah and Mike breaking up in the last movie cause it brings more drama, and is realistic that 2 people have problems in the relationship. I figured they would find their way back to each other, and I hope we get more movies to show them finally get married. This movie felt more like the original movies in that it just got back to the basics of Hannah trying to solve the crime. Love that Dolores got involved too. It was funny and a great movie. I hope there are more.
Haven't watched Field Day yet, will try in the next few days.
Sabrina
Sabrina, Thanks so much for adding these great reviews! So glad to hear you enjoyed these movies, too.
DeleteBy the way, in case you didn't see them, both Grace and melnewlife reviewed Field Day and shared that it is family-friendly. Hope that helps. Still would love to know your thoughts on it. I watched the first hour last night, and thought it was kinda cute, so far.
Blessings! Net
Jim, I've been hearing the same thing. Should be interesting when they release their info. I think they are smart to keep us Christmas viewers watching and guessing. Hopefully, we will hear something soon! :)
ReplyDeleteWell I'm actually glad about this because I invariably find Lifetime's acquired titles are better than those they produce themselves.
ReplyDeleteI'm expecting at least 8 and hopefully more from Reel One although a few of these might be ones held over from last Christmas - Florence
Looks like I really need to watch Destined 2! So many great reviews. So far, I have only watched "Curious Caterer". It was pretty good. "Field Day" and the UPTv movie, are still waiting on my DVR. I need to watch them so I can room for all of the Christmas cheer coming our way this weekend! So much to choose from. It is very cool in KY this week. I hope everyone is doing well.
ReplyDeleteJim, Great news! Our wait is over! Lifetime revealed their Christmas movie lineup today!
ReplyDeleteSee here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2023/10/lifetime-reveals-2023-full-holiday.html
Okay I’m slowly getting through my recordings. I watched Field Day and it was great. Family friendly, the supporting cast were good, her parents were sweet, Rachel and Benjamin had really good chemistry. Unfortunately it will be a one time watch for me just because it was so sad. I teared up throughout the movie, I could just feel her grief and pain. Just a personal preference, but I prefer the lighter classic hallmark storylines. I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy this movie but it was just focused a lot on her moving on past her husbands death which I wasn’t aware of until I started watching it….I think we all pray we never have to go through losing a spouse and that’s why I typically avoid these types of sad movies. Side note: I loved the video the husband made for her before he passed and how he said “Heaven is amazing” I thought that was so nice that they included that π
ReplyDelete~Paula
The Cowboy and the Movie Star was so sweet! -Maria
ReplyDeleteI watched The Cowboy and the Movie Star and enjoyed it, but it is a one time watch for me.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it but I didn't like Destined 2. I knew from the moment we saw the ring at the beginning of the movie there would be almost opportunity for the proposal all movie long and the the lost ring twist was not fun to watch. This is the 1st movie on GAC that I had to push myself to get through.
ReplyDelete
