Saturday - Encore airing of Love in Harmony Valley (starring Amber Marshall, Heartland)

Sunday - All-day marathon of Heartland episodes leading up to the first two episodes of Season 16 at 7pm and 8pm EST.

(Note: there is a side character on Heartland who is in a same-sex relationship; however, I've heard from some Heartland fans that he isn't in the series very much. I used to be a loyal watcher of the series, but I haven't watched since Season 14; Heartland just isn't the same for me without Ty. I would love to hear from you Heartland fans and get your thoughts on this.)

🌟Hallmark Movies & Mysteries:

Saturday - Monk marathon and Mini-Marathon of Hannah Swensen Mystery movies

Sunday - Crossword Mysteries and Curious Caterer Mysteries Marathons

I hope you all have a wonderful first weekend in August! As we transitioned from July to August, it was hard to say goodbye to Christmas in July movies airing on TV, but it won't be long now until the Christmas movies are back in late October.

I'm still trying to soak up Summer, though, and these sunshiny days, but it's been sooo hot here in the Midwest lately with high humidity. This weekend we are expecting some storms to go through, so I'm hoping that will cool things off a bit. Plus, we still certainly need the rain, so that is a blessing.

As far as TV goes this weekend, I'm most looking forward to the new Great American Family movie premiere, Romance at the Vineyard, and another new episode of Hallmark's When Calls the Heart. I'm quite curious about Nathan and Faith; are they or aren't they involved? Hearties fans, what do you think?

What are YOU watching this weekend? Please share in comments below.

Please Note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies above. If you'd like to share a review after the movies air, please share in comments. Thank you!

Blessings to you all,
Net

  1. When Calls the Heart will celebrate its 100th episode during Season 10, and that 100th episode is coming up sooner rather than later: it airs on Sunday!

Hearties have followed the show through thick and thin, as many changes have taken place throughout the years.

Airing for almost 10 years now, it’s exciting to see the show progressing so far since a lot of shows don’t make it to 100 episodes

“Reaching the 100-episode milestone is cause for celebration and is a testament to the heartwarming content we’re committed to bringing our viewers each week

  2. Love on Repeat is 3-4 years old. I don't know where it originally came from. Has anyone seen it?

    1. Carol, I've seen it floating around for years on streaming platforms, like Pureflix and Amazon Prime, but for some reason or other, I never watched it.

Amazon has some mixed reviews on it. You can check them out here:

  3. Hey Net. I have been watching Heartland. I just couldnt stop. I am looking forward to season 16 on Uptv this weekend. I think Lou's assistant is gay, but he isnt on that much. I think he might be more on season 16 from what i read. But I was happy about Lou and Peter reconciling, and I love Katie and her storyline. I hear Georgie is back this season too. Its not the same without Ty, but Grampa and Lisa are still married, I like Tim's wife, and Amy is navigating life without Ty. Lindy is so precious. I think there will be a season 17. I keep fearing they will end Lou and Peter again, so I hope to see good stuff with them.

Can't wait for Romance in the Vineyard, and Making Waves looks good.

    1. Sabrina, Thank you for sharing this updated info on Heartland with us. I've always liked all of the main characters on there, especially Grandpa, Amy, Lindy, Tim and Caleb. I do miss them. It's too bad they just had to include a woke storyline. It's nice to hear Lou and Peter are together again. I never thought Mitch was right for her. From the previews I've seen, it looks like little Lindy is another Amy, a Miracle Girl with horses.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the new movies! :)

  4. I’m continuing to watch Heartland and have started into season 16. Yes, Lou’s assistant is in a same sex marriage and there is a small storyline of adoption, but the series itself is so good and the storylines of family and adversity far more outweigh any non-family friendly ones, that I chose to continue to watch. But I can understand others not watching anymore.

  5. I'll be watching those GAF movies, as for Hallmark, I'll record Making Waves, remains to be said on if I'll actually watch it though. And of course, WCTH! -Maria

  6. We haven’t watched Heartland since they started promoting the lgbtq movement. It’s sad for me as a mom since it was the only show that my sons used to watch with us other than sports.

    1. Anonymous, I quit watching when Kevin McGarry was still on Heartland and they showed him climbing in through a window to spend the night with his girlfriend and climbing out the next morning. That was before it became LGBTQ.

    2. I never did get to watch this series but that would have been the end of it for me too.

    3. I've never seen Heartland or even cared to. Now, I'm glad since it has LGBT issues.

I don’t see anything like that at the end of the movie since I was watching it on YouTube but I notice that Amber is bun in the oven. Charlie & Amber reunited with their colleagues

  9. I'm pretty sure Love on Repeat is available on Prime, if so, I'll catch it on there. I remember seeing it years ago and loved it.

Definitely going to do my best to watch WCTH. I want to see it REALLY BAD! I just adore all the Rosemary scenes(Quote: I really think you should eat a cookie ;) I'll try to find a clear video on YouTube. I still haven't received the Direct TV password from my dad yet. He's in Europe. He must have changed it while logging in over there.

  10. Romance at the Vineyard

I notice Tim Ross & Marita Wilcox worked together in the same movie; “Hearts Down Under”, as Simon Cook & Marla

In Romance at the Vineyard, Tim Ross as Ethan Blake & Marita Wilcox as Gianna Balzerini

    1. Maria, Thank you for sharing this review with us. That is interesting about the flag placement. Usually, when I'm watching Hallmark movies I notice how they often use the American flag, which I love seeing, of course. Wonder if our American flag is in this movie, at all? Nice to hear the movie is family-friendly otherwise.

  15. Romance at the Vineyard was the best movie of the night. Great cast and the location/scenery was so great. Making Waves I DVR it and stopped watching when they could not even get the location shots right. The Outer Banks is flat with NO MOUNTAINS perhaps the set designers, or someone needed to do more research before they filmed his movie.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing this enthusiastic review for "Romance at the Vineyard!" I thought it was wonderful, and I'm happy to hear you thought so too!

I also appreciate the setting details you shared on Making Waves. That is most frustrating when the location they reference in a movie looks nothing like the real place.

  16. WCTH Episode 2 was a delight!! Bill was hilarious and the Rosemary scenes were precious. I love seeing this side of her.

  17. My favorite scene of episode 2 was the ladies Wedding Dress scene. Rosemary has proved to be a loving and considerable friend to Elizabeth. You could tell she loved and got excited when Aunt Agatha showed the lace and sketches, but held back her emotions and stood up for Elizabeth. Mermaid dresses are definitely not my favorite, but I know with Elizabeth's character, it will be appropriate and tasteful. I loved her first gown. And Rosemary's theater wedding dress. When Lee proposed.

    1. Abigail, I wholehearted agree with your delightful review of WCTH's episode 2! It was such a joy to see Elizabeth with her sister again, and all of the fun moments with Rosemary and Elizabeth were special, too. I love all of their meaningful talks, and the fun moment when they pretended to play chess outside of Lee's office. That was such a Lucy and Ethel moment! Loved it! :)

And the wedding dress scene, I agree, was so telling. It was beautiful to see the way Rosemary was their for Elizabeth. I'm also not a big fan of the mermaid style. I wonder if that was popular in those days? I would think their wedding dresses then would've have been fairly simple and standard, full length A-line style.

And... I must mention the fun scene at the hot springs when Florence, Ned, Fiona, Hickam, and Mei were trying to decide who should accompany Faith on her rounds since there are bandits suddenly around, reminded me of something out of a Jane Austen book/movie. Florence would be the married busy-body who tries to set up or arrange accompaniment for any of the younger unmarried woman. Nearly every Jane Austen movie/story has one of those. Also, the scene when Nathan rescued Faith, as she fell from her wagon, looked exactly like something out of "Pride & Prejudice," "Emma," or any one of the Austen films.

Can't wait to see what happens next! :)

    2. Poor Hickam! I felt so bad for him, I think he's interested in Faith.

Do you think we'll see Elizabeth's book wagon this season???

I love the BBC Emma, Net! Especially the 2009 Masterpiece version. I just love the whole cast in that film and the set. I think I'll pull out my dvd case and watch it! But every time I see it, I wish we could see Miss Bates having someone special.

    3. Abigail, I feel for Hickam, too. Poor guy. I wonder if they will pursue that storyline further?!?!

You never know... the book wagon might make an appearance.

Also, that BBC/PBS Masterpiece version of "Emma" is my favorite! I just love it! Romola Garai is the perfect Emma Woodhouse. In fact, I have a post on it from years ago - here. The movie also won for best TV movie in the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards back in 2010!

Enjoy the new WCTH this weekend! :)

  18. I watched Making Waves today & I really enjoyed it. I thought the leads were a cute match and I especially enjoyed the summer music festival scenery, it reminded me of my hometown’s county fair we have every year with all the rides and food. I can’t say if it’s 100% family friendly as it’s rare I can watch a movie without an interruption these days but nothing I noticed! 😊

    1. I've been seeing the devastating reports of the destruction from the fires on the news. Thankfully, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega and their children are safe. They were not in Hawaii at the time and are trying to return home, but at this time, last I heard, they don't know if their home is still there. The news is heartbreaking with so many people still missing. My heart and prayers go out to them.

    2. Aww! I did not know about this. Sadly it was very common when I lived in California. I'll be praying for the PenaVega family, it must be hard on them, even if they were away. Thank goodness they were!! Praying for others as well!
