Reminder: It's Monday Night at the Movies on Great American Family! See Jen Lilley Tonight in...

This one bears *repeating*...

Even though I included the movie, Love on Repeat, in my weekend movie post for it's Monday TV premiere, I thought it might be best to *REPEAT* it, since this is the launch of the Monday Night Movies on Great American Family from the Pure Flix streaming library!

Love on Repeat stars Jen Lilley and Andrew Lawrence in this romantic-comedy, which has been described as charming, family-friendly, and easy-going.

Storyline: Amber's (Jen Lilley) life is less than ideal. Recently split from the "perfect boyfriend," Amber is floundering, her on-the-job performance uninspired. When Amber starts re-living the same day over and over again, she realizes she is stuck in limbo and must finally decide what it will take to make her truly happy.

My thoughts...

I know. I know. Some people don't love the whole movie fantasy of re-living the same day over and over again until the lead character gets it right.

Mostly, everyone thinks of the movie, Groundhog Day, when they think of this movie scenario, but for me, I think of some special Christmas movies, which may be unknown to some... Christmas Everyday (starring Erik Von Detten, which first aired in 1996 on the ABC Family channel), Pete's Christmas (starring Zachary Gordon and Bailee Madison, which aired on the Hallmark Channel in 2013 and kind of disappeared after that), and 12 Dates of Christmas (another film from ABC Family; this one stars Amy Smart and Mark-Paul Gosselaar; it premiered in 2011).

However, even though I think those *repeat the day* movies are fun, there are some movies with that basic storyline that drive me bonkers, like Hallmark's rom-com, I Do, I Do, I Do. Even though I love the lead actors, Autumn Reeser and Antonio Cupo in Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade, I don't, I don't, (yes, it bears repeating three times) I don't like the movie, I Do, I Do, I Do.

Please note: While I have seen bits and pieces of the movie, Love on Repeat, I have not watched the entire film, yet. If you've seen it and would like to share a review, please do so in comments below.

Also, there are streaming options for Love on Repeat at Amazon, Pure Flix, Tubi, Plex, etc...

Happy Monday Night

  1. Christmas on Repeat (2022)
    TV Movie
    Starring Matthew Lawerence

An ad executive gets more than she bargained for when Santa grants her wish for a Christmas do-over, and she realizes she's been missing precious time with her family.

    Not another one!!
How many groundhog days movies have we had over the years, too many to count!! Making one Christmasy isn't going to make a difference!! Plus there is no chemistry between the married couple!! He was just pick for the wrong reasons!! You get more chemistry between her and the Matthew Lawrence lookalike

    It’s available on Hulu

  2. Christmas Do-Over
    PG 2006

Kevin writes jingles for a living, is divorced & a terrible dad. When he ruins Christmas Day by attacking Santa, Jesus & Mary, the universe takes revenge by forcing him to relive the same day over again until he learns to be a good person?

Starring Jay Mohr & Daphne Zuniga

  3. Hi Net! I will be recording this movie and watching tonight. I love Jen Lilly so hoping this one is good. And I’m with you, I typically like this storyline but “I Do, I Do, I Do” had me lost and confused a little….
Hope everyone has a blessed week! My first baby is starting kindergarten this week and although she is 5 this is her first time attending school so I’m a mess. I’ll be hiding my tears behind my sunglasses in a couple days.

  4. Valentine's Again (2017)
    TV Movie

Katherine endures the worst Valentine's Day date of her life. On her way home a gypsy casts a magical spell on her. The next morning she soon realizes she's reliving the day until she finds Mr Right.

On top of the prediction to finally meet the right man, she gets a spell which she only starts understanding the next morning: it's a time-loop to relive that day until she actually noticed Mr. Right and bonded with him, which clearly isn't going to happen soon, even though Danny and she grow closer and his hedonism starts to fertilize her sterile mentality.

  6. I guess I'm the minority on this but I loved I Do, I Do, I Do. I think I'll like this one with Jen also. I may not feel like watching it more than once but still looking forward to it.

    2. Clara & Maria, I think I would've liked "I Do, I Do, I Do" better if Autumn & Antonio's characters had ended up together. I absolutely loved them together in "Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade," so having them argue and not get together in "I Do, I Do, I Do" broke my heart.

    3. Net, yes!! I had the same thought. I love those to together, not apart. Love at the Thanksgiving Parade is one of my favorites, and they were great in the HM&M Christmas film too!

I enjoyed the Italian guy she acts with in the Wedding Veil series(and feel no need to change that), but Antonio being Italian could have played that role as well.

  7. This is one of my favorite time loop
    movies

    12:01
    PG-13 1993 ‧ Sci-fi/Romance

Excellent film - better than groundhog day and other similar time loop stories. Well acted & easy to follow.

Barry Thomas (Jonathan Silverman) lives an unexciting life as an office worker at a science lab, where he has fallen in love with a brilliant, attractive young scientist named Lisa Fredericks (Helen Slater). Barry is devastated when he witnesses Lisa's murder in the office parking lot. However, when he realizes that a bizarre electrical accident at his company's lab has left him in a 24-hour "time loop," he attempts to save Lisa & return to a normal timeline.

    1. I looked up this film since it's rated PG: 13, it has some sexual scenes to skip and language. I won't be watching for those reasons.

    3. Chris, I love sooo many Jen Lilley movies!

My #1 fave is "Eat, Play, Love." I love how Jen is kind of plain in the beginning, and then she gradually blossoms and comes out of her shell.

I also love "USS Christmas" with Jen & Trevor Donovan. They are fantastic together!

And "Mingle All the Way" is such a good one with Brant Daugherty.

Plus, both of her Great American Family Christmas movies are fun - "Royally Wrapped for Christmas" and "B&B Merry," but I suspect I will like "Paris Christmas Waltz" best!

Please share your favorites, too! :)

  11. I love Jen Lilley as an actress and she was great in the movie, however I couldn’t really get into it. Its so hard for me to get into movies that are lower budget than what I’m used to watching on Hallmark because all of those things add so much to the film. So then I become distracted instead of appreciating what it can add to the overall film. The wardrobe, background decor, props, etc were just not good in my opinion and so I didn’t finish watching after about 30 min.

    1. Paula, I know exactly what you mean. Those sorts of things always distract me too. I watched the movie later last night, but only got to about 40 minutes in. It's a bit silly, so far, but I have to see where it goes to next - so I'll probably finish tonight or sometime soon.

Thank you for sharing! Net :)

    2. I actually ended up enjoying this movie way more than I thought I would. It isn't one that I kept on my DVR, but I would watch it again on GAF. I liked the twist at the end and it was a good reminder that we don't always know what someone else is going through. The downside for me was Jonathan Bennett. I am not a fan of his over the top acting style. Overall, it was a cute family-friendly movie and definitely good for at least a one-time watch. ....and of course Jen Lilley was great!

    1. Maria, I've been reading all the various news reports on this. Wonder what this means for Hallmark's future? Whoever replaces her will most likely be like-minded. ~Net

For anyone else interested, here's an article about it at Deadline:

    2. All the various articles don't really give that much information.

It seems to me that Hallmark has pulled back slightly with the woke agenda this year.

How much of the ratings drop (If there even is one) is due to Ms Lucas or just in general?

I say if there is one because more and more people are recording and watching later or streaming - you used to be able to go to Wikipedia and look at the overmight viewing figures and that gave a pretty good picture but you would now need to see the final figure and don't ask me how they know who watched a recording etc.

One long running journal associated with Neilson which published the overmight figures and demos gave up just a couple of months ago as they said they were no longer relevant.

It would certainly seem the Mahogany movies have been a disaster and they seem to have dragged HMM down with them.
