With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's the perfect time to settle in with a good movie, a sweet love story...
Based on the book Love Finds You in Charm, Ohio by Annalisa Daughety, this is a beautiful coming-of-age story set in Amish country.
"Love Finds You in Charm" storyline: "Beautiful Emma Miller (Danielle Chuchran) would appear to be the luckiest girl in Indiana. She teaches school, has a loving family, loves Jane Austen novels, and the town’s most eligible young man wants to marry her. But this Amish young woman has more on her mind than buggies and bonnets – she longs for adventure and wants to see the world. When given the opportunity to spend the summer with relatives in scenic Charm, OH, Emma jumps at the chance. There she meets an Englischer who has come to town to escape her chaotic life, and despite their differences, the two become fast friends. After meeting a fascinating young man in Charm, Emma finds herself pulled between two worlds. Now, she must follow her heart and decide whether to stay amongst the Amish – or leave behind everyone and everything she’s ever known."

Having grown up in Amish country and having some interaction with them and knowing people who did, I've never understood the fascination others have with them. They're portrayed in books, movies, and other sources as being nearly perfect, old-fashioned, from another time. Live around them for a few years and you'll discover an entirely different type of people than these romanticized versions.
ReplyDeleteLoved this movie! Good to see it on DVD finally! Danielle is such a beautiful girl. Would love to see her in a Hallmark movie someday. Is the third movie set in Amish country, too?
ReplyDeleteThanks for this update! You always have the best details on TV movies. We don't have UP so I'm looking forward to adding this movie to my family's collection.
