Blessings to you all

Memorial Day holiday weekend!
On this Memorial Day, we pause and remember the sacrifices made by our military for the freedoms we hold near and dear today.
May we cherish those freedoms as we gather with family and friends and enjoy special times together during this unofficial kick-off to Summer!
Over the holiday weekend, there will be Patriotic TV Specials, marathons, and a new episode of When Calls the Heart. Based on the promo pictures released for Episode 8, I am once again getting the feel of the classic film, The Music Man, with it's Americana spirit of yesteryear.
There are no NEW TV movies this weekend; however, the Hallmark Channel will begin its *Passport to Love* movies next week at the beginning of June!
If you'd like to watch or record any of the special movies or shows on TV this weekend, I've included some of the highlights below...
Sunday, May 26, 2024:
Season 11, Episode 8
Episode 8 - “Brother’s Keeper” :
Storyline: Elizabeth and Nathan help Tom out of a tight situation, and the town comes together after a setback. With encouragement from family, Joseph heals an old rift. Gowen councils Lucas.
airs Sunday, May 26, 2024
at 9pm/8c. on the Hallmark Channel
Programming Notes:
Extra News on Patriotic TV Specials, Marathons, and More airing on Memorial Day Weekend:
TCM
The network's annual Memorial Day Weekend War Movie Marathon begins Friday, May 24th, and ends on Monday night, May 27th.
Films being shown include: The Human Comedy, They Were Expendable, Wings for the Eagle, Memphis Belle, The Best Years of Our Lives, Three Came Home, etc...
Please note: I have not seen all of these classic films, and I don't recommend war movies, due to violence, for young children. I am beyond grateful for our military and all the sacrifices they have made (and continue to make) for our freedom.

⭐️ Mark the 25th on May 25th -
I brought the twinkling Christmas lights back to honor this occasion!
This weekend, on Saturday, May 25th, we mark 7 months 'til Christmas! And, it's even sooner for Christmas in July movies, and the Christmas movie season will, of course, return after that in October!
By the way, the Hallmark Channel is asking viewers to take part in a special Christmas in July Fan Favorite Marathon vote. Starting May 27th, you can vote for your favorite Christmas movies that you would like to see on the channel during their annual Christmas In July movie event. New polls will be unveiled every week.
In honor of the 25th, we try to watch something Christmassy on this day - a movie, cartoon, etc... If you'd like to participate, simply share what Christmas movie/show you plan to watch to *Mark the 25th* in comments below.
I'm not sure I'll be able to squeeze in a Christmas movie over this busy Memorial Day Weekend, but when I have a chance soon, I plan to watch USS Christmas, starring Trevor Donovan and Jen Lilley. It's such a wonderful film that honors our military, past and present.
See the Christmas TV Schedule for upcoming Christmas movies + Christmas in July!

Blessings to you all on this Memorial Day Weekend.
In addition to the movies above, this weekend will also be filled with all kinds of special sporting events you can see on TV—the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500, NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600, Major League Baseball, UFL Football, Pickleball, NBA Conference Finals, WNBA Basketball, Stanley Cup Playoffs Conference Finals, PGA Tour Golf, and more! It's quite a busy weekend!
As I mentioned above, this Saturday, May 25th, also marks 7 months until Christmas day, and one of the Christmas movies airing Friday night on the Hallmark Channel is Northern Lights of Christmas. This, of course, brought to mind the recent spectacular sighting of the Northern Lights seen widely across the U.S., and I just had to ask, did any of you see the incredible viewing on Friday, May 10th? In the afternoon, our local weatherman told us that it wouldn't be possible for us to see them due to cloud coverage, but surprise, that evening, the clouds separated just enough, and we had a glorious viewing of a colorful sky of Northern Lights! It was an amazing sight, and I hope many of you saw them that day, as well, or you have been able to see them at some point!
Although I'm expecting to be fairly busy with my family over this holiday weekend, I'm still planning to watch When Calls the Heart on Sunday evening. I am especially looking forward to seeing this special scene (see sneak peek below) with Allie and Nathan singing "By the Beautiful Sea."
This old-fashioned song, "By the Beautiful Sea," was written in 1914; it is a piece of Americana apple pie! Since seeing this When Calls the Heart sneak peek on Monday, I've been humming this sweet little tune all week!
I hope you all have a safe, peaceful, and pleasant
Memorial Day weekend!
Blessings to you all,
Net
SHINING HIS LIGHT:
"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13
Hope you all have a peaceful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching the Big Sky River sequel and recording some of that Love Around the World marathon. :)

NORTHERN LIGHTS OF CHRISTMAS was based on Teri Wilson's book, SLEIGH BELL SWEETHEARTS, a Love Inspired imprint. She also wrote the book for THE ART OF US and UNLEASHING MR. DARCY. She was part of the screenwriting team for a couple of movies, and she also wrote a few books for the now defunct Hallmark Publishing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all this info Net! We will be at Disneyland for the weekend to celebrate our sons birthday. He turns 3 next month in June but that month is so busy for us so we are celebrating early. It’s a 4 hour drive from where we live to Disneyland so I will be watching the mystery movie from last weekend while my husband drives. Those are some good movies playing this weekend, and if anyone hasn’t watched GAF A Royal Seaside Romance I highly recommend, it’s so cute! I’ll watch my “25th movie” tonight and I think I’ll watch Rescuing Christmas with Rachel Leigh Cook, Iv heard it’s good. Have a blessed weekend everyone!
ReplyDelete~Paula
Have fun Paula! Disneyland always brings happy memories to me. I love the Jazz music playing in Main Street. It's like stepping into my grandparents time of their youth! Happy Birthday to your little boy!! 🍨
DeleteHi Paula - I can imagine how excited your son was to be at Disneyland! I hope he had a chance to see Mickey!
DeleteThank you Abigail & Mark! I wish I could add photos on here so I could show you guys. We had a blast, we did California Adventure and Disneyland and my husband and I are pooped 😂 Our son loves Cars and Toys Story so he was going 100 miles a minute and our 6 year old is a daredevil she wanted to ride the rollercoasters and she was mad she didn’t wear her princess heels like last time we were there, they gave her an extra 2 inches of height for when they measured her for the rides 😂
Delete~Paula
That's great Paula. Sounds like you had a special time making memories. I love the Car's ride, and Soaring Over California is my favorite, along with Indiana Jones. I miss my season ticket days going every Friday night. And the light parade.
DeleteHaha, my mom used to put a toilet paper roll on my little sister's head for a ponytail. Always worked and shoe inserts. But my brother was hilarious, he would distract the people checking the height with chatter while my siblings went through. He has the gift. 😂😂😂
Paula, So happy to hear how much fun you and your children had together! Those are such special times you'll treasure forever. That is so cute that she wore her princess heels last time... I'm sure she won't forget that next time you go! :)
DeleteBlessings, Net
Hey, I don’t want to be an old fogy or anything here, but height or weight requirements are validly important when it comes to rides, such as roller coasters and the like. Not following such rules could be and have been deadly. Kids will be kids and try to break these rules, but parents need to know better. Years back a 10 year old was killed on a water slide in Kansas because he was too small to fit in the straps. I won’t go into the gory details, but it was bad. Just Google it.
DeleteThere wasn't that much of a height difference, maybe at the most an inch and I doubt even that. I've even seen some people who check the height ok it if it was only a spec. And that's the only difference it was.
DeleteTulips In Spring was an absolute delight - wasn't expecting much of it but it is one of my all time favourites so romantic.
ReplyDeleteAnd it introduced us to Lucas Bryant - Florence
What movies are you looking forward seeing this weekend?
ReplyDeleteWe watch When Calls the Heart every Sunday night. I showed my wife the clip you shared of Nathan and Allie and now she can’t stop humming/singing it too.
ReplyDeleteI’ll also be watching the Indy 500. Have a nice Memorial Day everyone as we remember why we can enjoy this weekend, Rob
I like your comparison Net of When Calls the Heart and The Music Man. This new Tom story has been giving me the same feeling. I hope the town can help him.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention, we saw the Northern lights on the 10th. They were as you said incredible. Rob
ReplyDeleteRob, So glad you were able to see them, too! What a special moment that was! :)
DeleteFor anyone who saw the Tipline Mystery....
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning, Maddie is on the phone with a customer. I know I have heard that voice of the man before, but I can't place the face!! Any ideas??? I tried IMDB, nothing.
Big Sky River The Bridal Path is so lovely!! -Maria
ReplyDeleteI watched Christmas Under The Stars for "Mark the 25th". Such a great movie. Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend! we should all remember, freedom is not free! Jesus died for our souls, soldiers die for our freedom!
ReplyDeleteThe Soulmate Search is a very lovely movie. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect Harmony, is FANTASTIC!!! 1 of HMM's best non Christmas movies. -Maria
Happy Memorial Day! So thankful to those who sacrificed so much so we could have freedom! Praying for our nation today, that those sacrifices would not be in vain, because sadly our country is becoming less and more less Christian and as Christians we are starting to loose that freedom. But we do have a God who is sovereign! Who is in total control. And my hope is in Him! He has a plan for His Children and all things do work for good!
ReplyDeleteBlessed be the Nation whose God is the Lord.
Psalm 33:12
While thinking about Memorial Day and even though we have our problems, thankful we have the freedom to worship....my mind also thought about Canada. As many of you know, it is becoming harder and harder to live a Christian life there. We have heard many sad stories from missionaries sent there and families who are Canadian citizens trying to leave to come to here to my church, but they(Canadian Government) won't let them come and they've even taken control of their bank accounts because they have a checkmark on their name because they've been seen at a church service. But they let the non-Christians com! That is scary to me. It's hard to find it on the news, Canada is keeping it quiet, but what we have heard from the Christian Canadian citizens has us practically on our knees praying for them. My heart hurts for them. Please join me in praying.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I need to pray about this more often. Even for those involved in Hallmark and GAF. Both Canadian companies.
Abigail, I've been hearing about that, as well. It is scary to think about the control a government can have on it's people, but we've seen it over and over again throughout history. I wholeheartedly agree... we must continue to pray for religious freedom - in Canada and all over the world.
DeleteI'm sure you also heard of the young American missionary couple (married only 2 years, I believe) killed recently in Haiti, Davy and Natalie Lloyd. We must lift their family up in our prayers, as well, and pray for the Christian people in Haiti.
I agree with you, Abigail, we are blessed to have our freedoms here and we must never take them for granted.
I haven't heard about the young couple. Sad, I'll be praying for the family. That'll take comfort in knowing that they're in Glory with our Savior.
DeleteWatching Florence and Ned sing and dance together was so sweet and cute. Their performance style reminded me of a Fred and Ethel duet.
ReplyDeleteChris is starring in an upcoming movie called A Safe Distance. This is an independent Canadian movie that was written by Aidan West, and directed by Gloria Mercer. According to Mercer’s Instagram, they were filming in May.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if Tipline Mysteries is family friendly? I love Chris but don’t want to see anything wrong.
ReplyDeleteRebecca
It is, from what I've heard on here. -Maria
DeleteGreat!! Thank you
DeleteRebecca
Yes! Very much so!
